<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied is typically quite productive in most days; if it isn't arranging for contingencies and gathering information from various agents, it's out questing and adventuring, seeing the sights, going up high and low alike.

Today is... not one of those days.

The winged woman is laid a little low from one of her episodes, so to speak; she's sniffling as she walks towards the nearby bookstore, rubbing her nose and looking like she's got a cold. "Ah, thank you..." she passes some gella along as she collects several books from the kindly grandmother running the store, and walks over to sit down. She's got a cup of cocoa that she's brought over from one of the cafes, and settles in to just... read. A nice hobby for a day where she's not feeling too well. Her horns twitch comfortably as she sniffles again.

"Where'd Odjn go, anyway... she's got such a wanderlust sometimes...."

What a curious sight in a bookstore, a horned beastwoman(?) dressed like it's winter with a red face and a sniffly nose!!

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Ambrosius is not a very common sight around Adlehyde, but one can occasionally find him in one place or another. More than one person has been spooked to find him suddenly floating about through the crowd - not literally, but his voluminous poncho does seem to give that effect off sometimes.

As it would happen, he has also sought the bookstore this day. While he preferred to be witness to places of culture and history personally, sometimes it was easier to read about them in books so he could catalogue them for later visits.

He steps into the store, his form cutting a somewhat ominous figure as he stands in the doorway. He does not, however, attempt to rob it or shoot it up. Instead he simply glides over to one of the shelves and begins studying it, sparing the...horned woman?...a single glance on his way.

A single hand emerges from the poncho, tracing the titles down the shelf.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied blinks once and scoots over, smiling as she says, "Oh, sorry for being in your way," to the poncho-garbed man. She did catch wind of his gait and posture a little, perhaps finding it a bit curious, but says not too much of it. There are many tall and imposing people in Adlehyde alone, after all.

The stacks of books that Riese has selected are books of philosophy, culture; they speak of the old days, written works of many thinkers and sages long past. Her favorite stuff. There's a few tomes of poetry smattered here and there as well.

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

There is a brief nod towards the woman, but Ambrosius's attention is soon returned to the shelves. A few books are pulled out, but it seems some of the ones he's looking for...

...Simply aren't there.

He stares at the shelf for a moment, then glances about. Perhaps they had been misplaced? It is then that he spots them. Right there, on that table.

Though his expression had been rather neutral up to that point, there is now a slight smirk on his face.

"Ah...It wooould seem...some of our...iiinterests...aliiign..." He comments with that drawn out manner of speech of his, as well as a dry chuckle.

His attention is returned to the shelf, as he instead looks for something different instead.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

There's a few more blinks from Riese's eyes, and then she sniffles and politely wipes her nose away with her handkerchief. "Oh, I am sorry. I do not mind sharing if you've an interest in some of these?" Riese offers, gesturing outward to the other seat on the table. "I've a habit of reading here, as this is quite the lovely bookstore..." The accent is quite curious... just where might he be from, Riese wonders?

She bows her head slowly to say, "My name is Riesenlied, a Drifter from Elru. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance--" ah, ah-- achoo! "... my apologies..." She rubs her nose again.

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Ambrosius's attention returns to her for a moment. His expression is...difficult to read.

"Ah...no, that is...all riiight...I appreciate your...offer, but..." His voice trails off slightly.

He turns to the shelf again, but...then she says it.

"Elruuu, you say...? My, my..." A grin appears on his face, though currently concealed as he is turned towards the shelf.

"How raaare...I did not...expeeect...to meet someone from...there...todaaay..." He replies.

How rare, indeed. Particularly that they would claim to be from there. She wasn't the first he'd met, but...well, it amused him.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

There's a delicate little hum of curiosity, as she creaks one eyebrow up. That was certainly not a reaction she expected. "Oh? I do admit that we are a bit of a rare breed here, but..." she chuckles faintly as she turns the page, rubbing at her eyes. "If it would not be troublesome, where might you be from, friend?"

She didn't exactly feel the need to refute that she came from Elru, regardless -- that's her homeland, that's been her homeland for half a milennia, and... in a way, she loves it. That it's seen so much hardship is something she's not shy about.

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"Ah...I do not...mean to oooffend...but...I very raaarely...get a chaaance to speak...with those of Elruuu...it is...very recluuusive, but...I suppose...you wooould know that..." Ambrosius replies, turning around again - this time with an ordinary smile instead of the somewhat disturbing grin he'd been hiding.

It was very interesting to know that yet another person had slipped through the borders. Well, he'd keep this to himself for now. No need to go off reporting just yet.

"As...one with an...iiinterest in cultuuure...it saddens me..." He says. And then she asks where he's from. Well, he might as well keep up with the story he's been telling.

"My people...when they were...aaaround...did not claaaim...any one place...but we waaandered the area...known now as the...'Badlaaands...'" He explains. "I suppose that...makes us...siiimilar, you aaand I..."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

"No, there is no offense whatsoever," Riesenlied answers amiably, brushing a bit of her hair aside. She leans forward on her desk and laces her hands together, listening intently. "The Badlands... I admit I've never gone that far west... but the conditions I've heard of there, in some of the towns, do remind me of Elru's worst-hit places..."

She sighs very softly. "I admit I've a great fascination with culture myself. I've been absorbing a lot of Filgaia's history from whatever curious tomes I can find... there's... quite the history, both good and bad, by the light..."

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"Iiindeed...though it was...my hooome...I will not deny...it was an awfuuul plaaace..." Ambrosius replies, with a nod and a slight frown. It almost feels somewhat accusatory to him, the way she speaks of Elru, but there was no way should would know what he was, right?

Fortunately, the subject soon shifts. He nods and smiles once more.

"I...much prefer to...see the plaaaces history...was maaade with...my own eyes...but that is...not alwaaays possible..." He replies. "Iiin that...regaaard...books serve as an...eeeffective replaaacement...though I often...fiiind that they make me...wiiish to have...wiiitnessed the events...peeersonally..."

He chuckles again. He supposed that was part of the reason why he did some writing of his own. It was the second-best thing, really. Or perhaps third.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

"Yes, I feel much the same way. But, people are drastically short-lived... yet, their fondest and most intimate thoughts, as well as their darkest ones, are often buried in these books," Riese holds up the tome she's reading gently. "Collectively, it feels as if people would have a truly brilliant mind... yet, so many hours of thought go unread today, and people often wind up making the same mistake..."

She chuckles sadly, shaking her head.

"I apologise, I did not mean to ramble," she sniffles and rubs her nose again. She sips her cocoa. "I myself wish to see Elru recover... most recently, there is that meteor that's descended from the skies, the Sorcery Globe. It seems as if it cannot catch a break."

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"Iiindeed... People...saaadly...are often...all too willing...to pluuunge headfirst...into...muuutual destruuuction..." Ambrosius agrees with a wry smile. "If they would...look mooore to...the wriiitings of those who...came beeefore...perhaps...more traaagedies...could be aaavoided..."

The Sorcery Globe. A curious specimen, that was. Even his people had yet to truly learn anything about it.

"Do not fear...it is a...deeelight...to chat with a fellow...schooolar..." Ambrosius replies with a smile.

"Yes...these are...daaark times...but I am sure...it will indeed...recooover...some day..." He was sure of it. Once his people had a better hold, they might be able to repair some of the damage that had been done. It was all for a brighter future.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

There is a sucked, long breath from Riese as she rubs her nose again. It's a bit unsightly for public company, perhaps, but that's just sickness for you. "I was dismayed to see how war had escalated here in the Ignas continent. I have been working to tell people of some of the atrocities that have happened in Elru... to think that the tipping point between Aveh and Kislev could arrive any day..." A pause. "Even the Exhibition here, with the Golems on display, only suggest an escalation of war. An arms race, borne out of fear... perhaps, ending in mutual destruction, as you say..."

She sips at her cup once more, holding it for warmth. "I am glad to hear that. Learning of the past is key, I feel... do you venture into the Ruins around Ignas as well, friend?"

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Ambrosius does recoil slightly at that...that sound...but he doesn't say anything and he at least tries to make the motion subtle. He doesn't do well with...illnesses, like that.

"Iiindeed..." He replies with a sad nod. That seemed like the obvious ending to it all. It only made it more apparent why he needed to do his job. If nothing happened, then...whatever damage they might inflict would be nothing compared to what they would do to themselves.

Fortunately, the conversation soon turns to a cheerier topic.

"Ah, yes...that I do..." He replies with a nod. "As I...meeentioned...I prefer to wiiitness...the hiiistory with my...own eyes... It is...diiifficult, sometimes...but wooorth...all the trouble..." He says.

"What about...yourself? You meeentioned that...you were a...Driiifter..."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Fortunately for Ambrosius, perhaps, Riese's illness can't be contagious by its nature. It's just a body malfunction, an imperfection, even if it manifests like a human sickness. "I, too, make time to seek answers for the past where I can. Perhaps we can collaborate sometime? There are several dig sites that have my attention... though, not today, I'm afraid. There are simply days where I cannot function too well, I'm afraid." She chuckles ruefully.

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

That gets a smile out of Ambrosius. He hadn't been sure about her at first, but it was always reassuring to meet an intelligent human. It reminded him of why he appreciated their culture in the first place.

"I would...quite eeenjoy that, miss..." He pauses. Ah. Her name was a little difficult for him. "Riesenlieeed..." He is...not entirely sure if he managed to pronounce it properly. He had heard it not too long ago, but still...

"If you...ever need an aaally...do not hesitaaate to call upon me..."

He also realizes that he had yet to introduce himself.

"Siiimply...look for...Ambrooosius..."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

"Ambrosius, hmm?" Riesenlied nods again, and then says, "I shall do just that. There are several things on my list that need tending to, but after that..." she gestures politely, bowing her head. "Let's seek out the lost history of the world, together."

Oh, Riese. That'd be a good note to end on, but she has to cough and sniffle again, before clearing up her congestion by sipping her hot drink. To make matters worse, the bookstore owner bobbles over to go, "Aww, don't get too bad a cold, dear!" and pats her on the head.

Bold and most valiant commander, indeed?!

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"Agreed." Ambrosius replies with a nod. If the situation were any different, he might have reached out for a handshake, but, uh...right now, he feels it would maybe be more polite if both of them just kept their hands to themselves.

Just...hopefully there would be less of all of...that, when it came time to actually go searching for that lost history. He wasn't sure he'd be able to handle it, though the owner coming over did get a chuckle out of him.
