The Starfall Saloon is one of Adlehyde's most popular establishments, and for good reason -- it's got a solid wild west frontier theme while not being uninviting, it's got a large and comfortable inn, stable and livery, and it's got very fine foods courtesy of Aunt Hilda and Lunata herself. It straddles the line between being a pub and somewhere you can still take the family out for a nice dinner. Mostly. Sometimes, the occasional barfight does break out.

Lunata is a diminuitive white-haired girl standing at 5'2", dressed in a cute black and white maid outfit, humming as she writes on the chalkboard and writes today's specials out:

TODAY'S SPECIAL

Coq au vin, braised for three hours served on a bed of rosemary mashed potatoes

and a side salad with lemon balsamic reduction

TODAY'S SOUP

Aquvian onion soup, baked with a mozzarella and cheddar crust

served with a side of five-grain ciabatta, toasted with herb garlic

She turns towards the newest patron... perhaps unaware most people shouldn't be able to see her. "Welcome~!"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Ragnell has posed.

For being one of Adlehyde's most popular establishments with lots of good food and great drink, Ragnell hasn't come here *nearly* often enough for her liking. Granted that being invisible to most people means service tends to be terrible, but still--right now in particular, she could use a spot to take a load off. After a long trek in the Berry Cave that, after much trial and tribulation, turned around at the very end to be fruitful, Ragnell ambles towards the inn. Her feet, injured during the trek, are feeling a bit better after she used a healing arte on them, but it'd still be good to have a seat, get something nice to eat... She stops nearby Lunata, paying little attention to her beyond a waitress in a maid outfit writing on a chalkboard, and reads what she's written.

"Huhh... That *does* sound good," she murmurs, rubbing her chin. She probably won't be able to get that since that kind of meal would require actual service, but it's nice enough to think about. A mug of beer, though, that should be easy enough to snatch--

'Welcome~!'

Ragnell blinks and looks down at Lunata. Is she... Yeah, she's looking right at her. Huh, another one... Hey, wait a minute. Hasn't she seen her somewhere before? Sometime recently? She scratches her head, trying to think, but it doesn't come to her immediately--so she gives Lunata a lopsided smile instead. Looks like she'll get her service tonight after all.

"Hey there, hun," she drawls. "Got a table for one open tonight?"

<Pose Tracker> Lunata Croze has posed.

Lunata turns with a pleasing smile to Ragnell and gestures her over towards an empty table. "Sure thing, miss. Ah..." she pauses as well, feeling like she might've seen her before. Or at the very least, given Lunata, Ragnell /feels/ familiar to her, like she's sensed her presence around before. "No-- sorry, I just thought you were a bit familiar, miss...? My name is Lunata Croze, and I'll be your waitress tonight."

So polite! She pours her a glass of water and everything. "Can I get you started with some bread or drink?"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Ragnell has posed.

Lunata Croze. Hmm, the name doesn't sound that familiar... Ragnell follows her over to a table and sits, leaning back and relaxing as she props up her feet on an empty chair across from her. "Ragnell," she says. Huh. So this human thinks she seems familiar too, huh. "Nice makin' your acquaintance, Miss Lunata." She winks at her and grins. "I always like meetin' cute girls."

Bread or drink? "Both," she says, picking up the glass of water and tilting it to Lunata in apparent thanks. "Anything you recommend for the beers? Otherwise, I'll have whatever matches the special." She nods towards the chalkboard. "Was just thinkin' that'd really hit the spot right about now." Morgan Newkirk has arrived. Morgan Newkirk heads over to Adlehyde - Starfall Saloon. Morgan Newkirk has left.

<Pose Tracker> Lunata Croze has posed.

Lunata's face turns just a little bit red as Ragnell compliments her, and she glances towards the chalkboard. "A crisp pinot gris would go well with the heartier flavours of Aunt Hilda's coq au vin, we have a '70 vintage if you'd like a glass." A pause. "But as far as beer goes, I'd have to recommend Uncle Tom's Aquvy Pale Ale, it's the best seller by a wide margin!"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Ragnell has posed.

"Hmmm, it's been a while since I had wine..." Ragnell muses, expression turning thoughtful and a little distant. Then she grins and waves a hand. "But nah, I'll take Uncle Tom's. Oh, an' I'll have the soup too! I worked me up an appetite today." She criss-crosses her fingers and stretches her arms out in front of her, then about her. Then she rakes her fingers through her hair, un-hatted thanks to recent-ish events, and gives Lunata a curious, scrutinizing look. "By the way, you from around these parts?"

<Pose Tracker> Lunata Croze has posed.

Lunata tilts her head with a tender smile as she jots the order down. "Sounds good! Ah, my parents moved to Adlehyde when I was just a baby... so yes, this is my hometown, more or less!" She hurries along to the counter as she's called, and Ragnell can hear the conversation kind of go awkwardly.

'A Pale Ale for the woman at the counter, please!' '... what woman?' 'E-eh...' 'Lune, this isn't another one of yer episodes, is it?' 'U-Uncle Tom, please...' '... alright, alright, just as long as we don't get another curry ghost panicking everyone!'

She's back just a moment later with a frosted mug of ale and some starter bread and water on her silver tray. "S-sorry about that..." she looks just a little shaken.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Ragnell has posed.

"Hmmm..." Ragnell murmurs thoughtfully. So she's lived here all her live. She watches her leave for the counter to submit her drink order, and the man there, the apparent Uncle Tom, gives her grief about it. When Lunata returns with the mug, Ragnell's half-smiling.

"Curry ghost?" she echoes, picking up one of the pieces of starter bread and pulling off a piece. The apology itself gets a dismissive wave of the hand--'don't even worry about it,' she seems to say.

<Pose Tracker> Lunata Croze has posed.

Ahh, fresh baguette slices. Is there any simpler thing that brings such joy? Maybe, but maybe not right now. "Um--" she swallows. "I've seen a few guests around here that... how do I put it... cannot be seen by everyone...?" she awkwardly tries to explain it, before waving her hands. "U-um, I'm just speaking strangely, please disregard me, Miss Ragnell..."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Ragnell has posed.

If there is, Ragnell doesn't want to hear about it. She pops the piece into her mouth, teeth crunching through the crust with satisfaction, and picks up a knife and a pat of butter to spread on the rest. She listens to Lunata's embarrassed, awkward explanation with open amusement, and after she swallows, she laughs.

"Is that so?" she says, a calm, level reaction that might be unusual from most. But now that she's had time to think about it more, and now that she's heard that this is apparently a /thing/ with her: "I think I know where I seen you before..." Her smile fades. "By any chance, were you in Port Timney recently?"

If she was, Lunata ought to know exactly what she means.

<Pose Tracker> Lunata Croze has posed.

Lunata's reaction tells Ragnell that she hit the nail square with the hammer. "O-oh... yes, I was..." she looks rather ashamed as she lowers her head. "I got into a lot of trouble because of my recklessness... I made hassle for a lot of people who had to protect me." She pauses, and then gasps again. "W-wait, um-- if I may be so bold... were you there too, Miss Ragnell? I cannot be sure, but there is something... familiar about your presence."

The way she says 'your presence' is... peculiar, perhaps, like it's something other than a physical image jogging her memory.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Ragnell has posed.

Ragnell sets down the buttered piece of bread and folds her gloved hands, elbows on the table. "Hmmm... I thought so. There was a real ruckus about someone bein' caught up in all the fightin' and tryin' to get her out of harm's way... So that was you." She pauses a beat. "It must've been a hell of an experience," she adds, sobering. After all, if Lunata can see Seraphim, she can also feel Malevolence--and see the twisted forms of the Hellions that attacked.

"Sure was," she adds with a simple, easy nod. "Helped send those monsters runnin', though in the end it was the Shepherd who stole the show." She pauses, waiting for Lunata's reaction to this; does she know about Sorey? And if so, how much?

Her /presence/ though, huh. Interesting. ...interesting.

<Pose Tracker> Lunata Croze has posed.

"Oh... you mean Mister Sorey?" Lunata comments again, once more easy to read. "Yes, I spoke to him briefly... but I had no idea that he had such a power. The whole experience has left me a bit shaken, admittedly..." she shakes her head with a bit of a sigh and-- perks up again as she's called. Soup's up!

Moments later, she comes back with a wonderful aroma -- the aroma of melted cheese baked straight ontop of the soup bowl to form a sealing lid for the wonderful, slightly nutty aroma of the onion soup underneath. The bread that comes with it is studded with all kinds of grains and the herb butter tantalises with specks of basil and tarragon.

"But, if you were there, then I must say... thank you, Miss Ragnell," she bows her head. "Your soup, if you please!"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Ragnell has posed.

Ragnell chuckles. So she does know him too, if apparently only passingly. Then she probably doesn't really know anything about Seraphim or Malevolence, or if she does, only the barest basics. After all, at the least, she knows she can see some people that others can't. "Well, at least you got out with your skin intact," she says. "That's all you can ask for in a situation like that."

Ahh, soup! It smells *great*, too. Ragnell perks up as it's served, sitting upright and removing her feet from the opposite chair. "I didn't do anythin' worth gettin' thanked for," she says, "but I'll thank *you* for this soup. Mmm, mmm, it looks great!"

She sinks into it with gusto, too, between drinks of water and beer and dipping her bread into the broth. Apparently Ragnell's the type who doesn't care if they burn their mouth. That melted cheese really is to die for, though. It might be best if Lunata came back a little later--she probably has other tables to attend anyway. But then, there's always the next course!

<Pose Tracker> Lunata Croze has posed.

"That's quite true... and I owe a lot to Miss Gwen, Miss Jay and Miss Keil for it," Lunata nods towards Ragnell as she refills her drink, before nodding and smiling to say, "I'll check back on you in a bit, please enjoy!"

Lunata does have a few tables to attend to, though while she does so, Ragnell catches the murmur and two of the 'strange soup eating itself'... though curiously, it seems like the patrons are starting to get used to this, with how 'it's happening again... is it the curry ghost?' 'This time it's french onion soup...' One wonders if a Seraphim has been here, eating curry before.

Fast-forward a bit, and Lunata's back to say, "How's everything?" she pleasantly asks.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Ragnell has posed.

"Gwen? Ahhh, I do remember seein' her there too," Ragnell remarks, nodding once. She half-smiles at the refill, then nods to Lunata and begins her meal.

First a curry ghost, now an onion soup ghost. Ragnell is pretty sure that a Seraph must have come here before and had something to eat here; it's just a question of which one. If she had to bet money on it, though, she'd say probably Edna. In fairness, she barely knows Mikleo, and Lailah... well, the Lady of the Lake probably would be a bit more proper. But Ragnell *does* know Edna, and she's the type who'd cause a ruckus among humans and make a problem for someone who *can* see them and not even bat an eyelash about it.

Sort of like Ragnell herself.

By the time Lunata returns, Ragnell's mopping up the last of the onion soup with the last piece of bread, also buttered. "Perfect," she drawls. "Exactly what I needed tonight." She pauses to take a bite, chew and swallow, then adds, "By the way, an' I know this is me pryin', but what were you doin' in Port Timney that day?" It could just be a coincidence, and it probably is, but... she's curious. And if Ragnell weren't the curious type, she wouldn't have gone nosing about in the first place.

<Pose Tracker> Lunata Croze has posed.

Lunata lowers her head with that kind of embarrassment anew, stammering, "I..." She swallows, glancing towards a certain table that's empty right now. "There is another patron that sometimes comes to this saloon... her name is Miss Edna, and she told me that she wanted to eat mabo curry. ... I've never heard of such a thing, and I heard from Aunt Hilda that there may be someone who knows of what ingredient that might possibly be."

She scratches her cheek. "... I-- got a stern lecture about how I shouldn't endanger myself because I wanted to learn a recipe..."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Ragnell has posed.

'Her name is Miss Edna--'

Ragnell thumps a hand on the table. "I *knew* it!" she declares, grinning. Then she waves that hand at Lunata. "Sorry 'bout that, go on." Mabo curry, huh... She hasn't had that in an age, herself. What's it been... three hundred centuries? Four? Does anyone on Filgaia even *know* how to make mabo curry? Apparently, though, if there's some Aunt Hilda who knows of someone who knows how to make it.

"Mabo curry..." she muses aloud. "She sure put in a tall order, huh?" Another grin. "I see, I see. So that's our 'curry ghost,' huh?" She chuckles. "Whoever said that was probably right, but I like someone with enough passion about what they do that they'd risk their lives to pursue it." Most people would give up at 'I've never heard of mabo curry, sorry' and leave it at that, after all.

<Pose Tracker> Lunata Croze has posed.

Lunata looks just a bit startled, but gasps, "Y-you know Miss Edna? Wow..." She pauses, before blushing to say, "Thank you for saying that. Jay said that as well... but, the fact remains that I really should be a bit more cautious."

She puts her hands behind her back and says, "Aunt Hilda is from the far East, where curries are common. But even there, she hasn't heard of mabo curry... there was an old lady who cryptically said that there was once mabo here, but not anymore... if I could even get a clue about the kind of plant or ingredient it's based off..."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Ragnell has posed.

"Sure do!" Ragnell says cheerfully. "Next time you see her 'round, tell her I said hi." Though it's pretty likely that Ragnell will see Edna before Lunata does, since she's heading back to Port Timney for the time being after this. Ragnell doesn't know who Jay is, though she does recall her mentioning that name earlier, but she shrugs. "Probably wise," she says. She winks. "You never know what kind of ghostie or beastie might be lurkin' about to gobble a pretty girl like you up."

An old lady, huh. Ragnell taps a finger on the table. If this is Edna's prank, she's sure she wouldn't appreciate Ragnell giving up the game. "I hope you find that clue," she thus says. "If you ever figure out how ta make it, I'd love a plate myself. Sounds like just the thing for a night on the cold desert."

<Pose Tracker> Lunata Croze has posed.

Lunata turns just a bit red again and says, "It's true... the roads are rather dangerous, and it isn't like I know how to shoot an ARM or use Crest Sorcery." She puts her hands together and says, "Do-- have you had mabo curry before, Miss Ragnell?" she sounds a little bedazzled. Edna is very tight-lipped and wouldn't give her a clue...! "But-- yes! I know that I'll find it, and when I do... I'll make the most wonderful bowl of mabo curry anyone's ever had! Just look forward to it!"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Ragnell has posed.

Ragnell grins again, this time a bit wolfish. Has she had mabo curry before? "Well... who can say?" she replies. It seems like she won't be much more help than Edna was on the matter. But given Lunata's obvious enthusiasm, it doesn't seem like that'll be too much of an impediment. If she heard about it from her, it'd probably be cheating, anyway.

"I will indeed," she says. She really hasn't had mabo curry in centuries. If this girl really can make it, won't that be something else! "Anyway, I won't keep you for now--I'm sure you've got other tables to tend to, Miss Lunata. Oh--" She reaches out, grabs her beer, and polishes off the little that remains of it. "But before you go, couldja get me another? Thank ya kindly."

And after setting the mug down, she'll fold her arms behind her head and lean back, a small, satisfied smile on her lips. Passion, huh... Even normal humans have it here. ...It's a good thing to see.

<Pose Tracker> Lunata Croze has posed.

"One refill, coming right up!" Lunata nods, feeling inspired and doubly so; she's to-and-fro again, serving Ragnell with a second mug, then heading to other tables with great cheer. There were people counting on her to find and craft that legendary dish, only spoken of in myth! What secrets do the Lady of the Bay, who first led her on the path of mabo, have in store? And who are these Lords of Cuisine, who have left their thrones? The culinary journey has just begun... and it will take a true Wonder Chef to unlock the depths of culinary history, both in Filgaia, and in Lunar! Good luck, Lunata!!
