===============================<* Leck Mines *>===============================

The Leck Mines are an abandoned mine shaft, but they still see use. The Parm Express, a railroad service between Linga and Lacour, speeds through these mines for part of its trip. Entering the mines is forbidden by Lacour's government, but has scarcely stopped those determined to do so. There is good reason for it, too: inside the abandoned mineshafts, one can find Dragon Fossils that were never excavated. Unfortunately, a band of surly beastmen have taken over the mines, and now use them. Some parts are especially dangerous, too, as the Parm Express can roll over adventurers who don't mind where they are going.

<Pose Tracker> Layna Manydays has posed.

The last time Layna, Sephilia, and Animal had entered the mine together, they'd made an amazing discovery - secreted away down one of the more obscure pathways in the mines was an old, mostly-intact Gear, worn with age but looking very much like it could be made functional again given some repairs and replacements.

Now, after meeting with someone who had the connections to ensure it could receive the proper and necessary care, Layna had arranged for a another trip into the Mines so that Morgan could determine what, exactly, they'd need. Of course, since they had a goal in mind this time, she had enlisted further help - Dahlia and Victori(Layna's Lead Artillerist) were there as well, wielding a large, two-handed boarding axe and a spear respectively, as well as a large, muscular fellow referred to only as 'Ol' Anchor-Arms Andy.'

When the party first arrives to the Mines, they'll find some rough-looking individuals camped outside. It might look like there was about to be a fight, but instead they stand and offer Layna a salute.

"Captain! We've been keeping an eye on things just like you asked. The rest o' the unit's waiting for you inside." One of them says, and Layna nods with a grin.

"Good work, lads." She replies. Looking close at Layna will reveal she's looking a bit more haggard than usual today. She still has her usual confidence and spirit, but she seems a little...tired.

Of course, if anyone had heard what happened yesterday, they'd know exactly why that was.

With all the extra help, getting through the mines was...really no trouble at all. They knew right where they were going, and with the forces arrayed against them any inhabitants of the mine were swiftly dealt with.

Before long, they found themselves in the chamber where the Gear was resting. Some of Layna's crew met them there, and Victoria went off with them to check out an excavation route they had been working to secure.

"There it is, me hearties. Still as beautiful as the first time I laid me eyes on it, aye?" Layna says with a grin, looking back at the others.

"I've had me buckos keeping an eye on it day and night, I have. We've got an excavation route secured, all's that's left is for you to do your thing, lad." She says with a nod toward Morgan.

<Pose Tracker> Animal has posed.

Dragging a large horned animal of some sort, Animal leaves it up by the entrance to the cave and follows the others inside. Looking a bit tired as he skips past the trouble areas with the others and they make their way down to where the ancient gear awaits. As he walks, he occasionally rubs at his lucky headband but nothing seems to come of it, either because of the rubbing of the headband or because there was nothing there to begin with.

Walking out into the cavern surrounding the gear, he looks around and then settles his weight atop a nearby rock. "I think it's weird looking, I don't know how you're supposed to carry it around like a weapon," he says to the others and stares at the big gear with a blank look on his face. His eyes half lidded and his hands beneath him.

Pushing out one foot, he wiggles his toes and looks at the others, including the expert they'd apparently brought to repair the thing.

"We should paint it."

<Pose Tracker> Morgan Newkirk has posed.

Morgan never complains about meeting this perticular pirate crew. Just because many of them are ladies, and the fox is never against meeting more ladies. Its sort of a hobby of his really.

The point is, he isn't complaining about the company.

The fox of course arrives with the captain herself, though he doesn't arrive alone. To one side is a two-foot-at-the-shoulder feline like creature. Long tuft black ears and a short tail, the cat pads along quietly with the Fox as they make their way towards the mine.

A smirk is on his face as he tips his head towards the guards there, turning to look towards the Captain with a chuckle. "After what I heard happened, I'm just a bit suprised ya decided ta keep this little apointment. I figured ya might have a touch of a problem standin upright." The man says wryly. "That lady with the scythe usually means business."

He's fought Harken before.

The Cat eyes Animal and his...animal...head with curiousity. He doesn't go over there though. I mean come on. Its obviously that guys kill. It doesn't look tasty either.

Morgan just chuckle though as he looks up at the wreck. "You don't carry it around, boyo. You ride in it." He adds as he nods towards where the cockpit should be. "Single seater usually, but I've seem some that were two or three seaters. Mostly command units."

He smirks though. "Oh you should defintally paint it." He adds as an afterthought. "Always make it your own."

Though the last question he grins easily, eyes alight. Its obvious that Gears are one of the many things that he loves. "Well I'd love ta! Lets see what ya got fer me..."

He strolls towards the leg of the machine. "...she's a beaut though, you and your boys see any lights or anything comin from the engine systems?"

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia is wide-eyed at the Cat, and occupies herself sketching him on the way down. "What's his name? How's Sir Pierre's training coming along? What kind of animal is he? Is it a he? How old is he? Can I pet him?"

Calm down, Sephy.

If Chauncey is jealous that Sephy is paying attention to something else cute, he doesn't show it.

"Painting it will come after it's fixed, I think. What color do you want it to be? I think it should be orange and white."

<Pose Tracker> Layna Manydays has posed.

Layna's...pretty much used to Animal's eccentricities by now, so she doesn't question it when he arrives dragging something. That seemed to be just something he liked to do...or maybe he just didn't have any other method of transporting his things, that seemed more likely.

Layna glances toward Morgan with a grin.

"She would've had to cut me legs out from under me to get me to miss this, lad. I'd drag myself out here, if I had to." She replies, and Dahlia shakes her head.

"Honestly, she's fortunate that didn't happen. She took a grievous wound at the beginning of the fight." She says with a sigh.

Layna chuckles sheepishly, then looks toward the Gear itself. Morgan answers the question about how to use it, and then Animal brings up the idea of painting it...

It makes her think.

"Orange and white? I was thinking a nice red, after the Ruby Empress, meself." Layna comments. Dahlia stays out of the talk of painting the machine.

They follow Morgan as he approaches the leg of the gear.

"Well...I'm afraid I'm not sure which lights are for the 'engine systems', exactly, but the crew responsible for looking after it has reported seeing some lights inside. Not solid, however - they flicker on for a time before blinking out. Is that a problem?" Dahlia explains.

<Pose Tracker> Animal has posed.

"Ride around in the metal man? That seems uncomfortable," Animal decides and hops off his rock to get a bit closer. He doesn't pay much more attention to the cat than he does to anyone else, because animals, as long as they aren't giving him trouble, or are in need of eating, aren't really his business. He walks up to the gear and gives it two sound knocks on the leg.

With a look of realization he nods and goes to sit and watch again.

"I dunno what color, just that it should be painted," he decides. Looking aside at the others as they talk about blinking lights and he tries to see what they're talking about, and when he doesn't, just sits there quietly watching.

<Pose Tracker> Morgan Newkirk has posed.

"Oh its pretty comfy really," Morgan replies as he starts to scale the leg. "If you get one with a nice cockpit. You'll have to climb up here..." He adds. "...there, where the faded paint is. If you..." Feeling around a bit he finds what he's looking for and gives a sharp rap to the side of the leg with his fist. Rust and debris flake off as a small pannel is revealed, enough for a handhold. "...you find emergency handhold systems." He adds as he starts to haul himself higher.

"Normally there would be a ladder of some kind from the cockpit, but I'm sure that mechanicsm is busted." He adds wryly as looks at the state of the Gear itself.

"Blinking lights though are good, that means its getting power. Just there is a short somewhere. If we can refurbish the engine a bit, should keep it running for quite awhile." The man adds as he continues his way up.

Though there is a laugh. "His name right now is Cat, yes you can pet him just don't tug on his ears, and its fairly done. The training. He's a smart one so you should be able to keep him, on an interm basis, within a day or so." This all towards Sephy as he dangles from the side of the Gear.

A smirk though is directed down towards Dahlia. "You should meet my business manager. He keeps telling me I get myself in too much trobule and calling me out when I show up bleeding for meetings. You two would have a lot in common I'm betting." His eyes laughing as he looks between her and the Captain.

"But regardless, its good you didn't loose any limbs and you're looking a bit better grevious wound or no." Reaching the cockpit he slams the release catch a few times and...

"...rusted shut. Anyone got a prybar?"

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephy beams and carefully, slowly pets Cat. "Interim?" she asks, a little nervous now. "What does that mean?"

Then the need for a prybar becomes evident, and she goes back to beaming. Pulling Chauncey's digging claws out, she affixes them to him, then grows him to big size. "Chauncey can help open it!" she declares happily.

<Pose Tracker> Animal has posed.

Living prybar, Animal hops up without the use of handholds, grabs hold of contours in the machine's armor to get what can only be the slightest of holds up in the air like that and opens the hatch with inhuman strength, sending a cloud of rust away as he just guts it out.

"I get to be useful!" he declares as he lands again a second later, and walks back over to sit on his rock, crouched. Like a cat.

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephy pouts. "I wanted to be useful," she mutters.

<Pose Tracker> Layna Manydays has posed.

"Maybe so, lad, but you can do so much more with one of these things than without it. I'd say it's worth it." Layna says with a glance toward Animal.

Morgan, though, seems to think they can be comfortable.

"And of course you'll make sure it is for us, aye?" Layna asks with a grin, folding her arms in front of her. She watches as he clambers deftly up the Gear, listening close to every word he says. A busted ladder? Sounds like something else that needed to be fixed.

Dahlia nods when he mentions that blinking lights are acceptable, and a wry smirk crosses her face as he brings up his business manager.

"Yes, that does sound rather familiar..." She comments with a glance toward Layna, who shrugs nonchalantly.

"What's life without a little risk, aye? You understand, right, lad?" She says with a laugh and a glance at Morgan. "And thanks. I've got the crew's healer to thank for that. We wouldn't get far without Lysander."

"Just wish Ida coulda gotten out of it unharmed...but she's in good hands, at least." Layna comments, frowning slightly for a brief moment.

At the same time that Sephilia and Animal respond to Morgan's request for a crowbar, Dahlia begins to reach for the axe strapped to her back. As a boarding axe, it was made to chop and pry into areas they'd otherwise have difficulty getting into. Animal gets to it first, though, before any of them can.

Seeing Sephilia pout, Layna walks up to her and pouts her on the back.

"Don't worry, lass, you're plenty useful." She says, trying to reassure her.

<Pose Tracker> Morgan Newkirk has posed.

"I need to plan a trip to visit Ida anyway," Morgan calls as he stands back from the sudden explosion of dust and rust as Animal just forces everything open without the piddling need for human tools.

There is a quirked eyebrow, then he just chuckles and nods once towards him. "Thanks mate." He adds wryly. "Sephy, can ya get behind it. About halfway up the back there should be a large pannel, likely rusted shut like this one was. See if you can get that open."

The fox himself though peers though the settling debris at the interior of the cockpit. "Well...parts of it are crushed, but looks like some of the controls are intact. As for making it comfortable..." A grin is flashed down towards the captain. "That might require extensive research on just what makes you comfortable."

He can't help himself. Really he can't.

"But I defintally unsderstand risk, else I wouldn't be here..." He pauses a moment, one foot inside the cockpit as he looks towards the various screens. Black and shattered instriuments stare back at him, covered in years of neglect and dust.

"...just what got you stuck here, girl." He murmurs as he tries various swiches to see what still does and does not have power.

"What kind of systems were you wanting for this thing, give me a better idea of the parts!"

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia straightens and brightens. "Yes sir!" she says, clambering up with Chauncey dangling from her satchel as she does. She doesn't have to look too hard to find the panel in question, and in a few moments Chauncey's got his digging claws on either side, and pulls it away with apparent ease.

"Got it!" she calls down.

<Pose Tracker> Layna Manydays has posed.

Layna stares at Morgan for a moment, and laughs when he mentions 'extensive research'.

"Aye, you are a risk-taker, aren't you? A bold one, at that." She replies, amused. Dahlia, however, just kind of sighs, rolls her eyes, and shakes her head. She doesn't have a comment for that.

Who knew how this Gear ended up here? Perhaps it fell through somehow, long ago. Unfortunately, unless records still survived in the console even after so long, it did not seem forthcoming with any real answers to these mysteries.

As for parts...

"Well, lad...my main goal is freeing the Ruby Empress, so it'll need be capable of doing that right." Layna begins. "And, of course, there's no sense in letting it go to waste after that, so might as well make sure it's properly-equipped for other things, too, aye? Now, I don't know much about Gears...but I wager this one's built more for combat up-close."

Of course, it could be that it was built less for combat and more for industrial purposes, but it likely wouldn't be too shabby either way.

<Pose Tracker> Morgan Newkirk has posed.

Dust, a few spiders, and quite a bit of rust rain down from the revealed pannel as Chauncy proves his strength. It reveals part of the Gear's heart. The engine. Softly glowing with fitful lights of power as it flutters in idle mode. Left here by some pilot ages ago for some unknown reason.

There are still a few glowing pannels, words that once described them faded with age. One glowing green and one blue in front of Sephy and Animal.

Morgan grins over the edge of the cockpit at the amused captain. "Of course, what other way is there to be?" He calls back with laugh of his own. Part truth, part challenge. "Come on now, I wouldn't be half as fun if I wasn't."

"Mmmm..." The fox hops into the cockpit fully. "Come on up if you like Lady Pirate, you should see the view if you're gonna be driving it."

A pause though as he looks around, frowning as he tries to catagorize the controls into something familiar. "...this looks like...maybe an industrial model? There isn't real fire control systems here, and I'm not seeing where a weapon loadout would be. Shouldn't make any difference though, at least for what you're wanting to do. In fact it might be better..."

He leans out of the cockpit. "Industrial loaders have stronger arm and leg systems than typical military models. She should be able to swing a weapon just fine, and if there is a grapler system left getting the Empress out might be even easier. I can help with that, since two Gears are better than one."

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephy pulls out her journal and starts to sketch the engine. "You never said what "interim" means," she accuses Morgan, then starts muttering about 'book words'.

<Pose Tracker> Animal has posed.

Getting up to go pee in one of the side passageways, Animal comes back a few minutes later and takes a seat on his rock. "I can also help pull the Empress out!" he declares with a thumb pointed at his chest as he settles in, his knees up by his shoulders as he hunches up like a cat and watches them as they continue to fool around with the big machine. He wants to see what it's like inside, but he'll wait until they're done and it isn't in here. Maybe even until it's working, even.

<Pose Tracker> Layna Manydays has posed.

"It means, 'in the meantime'." Dahlia replies, with a glance toward Sephilia.

"Aye, lad, that be the truth." Layna replies with a grin. She readily accepts Morgan's invitation, following his example and scaling up the side of the Gear and into the cockpit next to him.

She looks over the systems and...frankly, they're pretty foreign to her. Still, she'd been adapting pretty well to Filgaian technology, and she could adapt to this, too. For the Empress, especially.

"Fire control? Hm...do you mean like for an ARM or something?" Layna asks. That was fine. She wasn't familiar enough with shooting an ARM herself, much less getting a Gear to do it.

"But weapons, aye...? I've got a few ideas in that regard. I'll be sure to give you the list." She says, then when he offers his help, she grins.

"I'd appreciate it, lad. Between the two of us, I imagine we'll be able to pull her out in no time! We'll still need to find a way to get her to the sea...but I've been meaning to ask Ida and her friend about that." She says.

Down on ground level, Dahlia glances toward Animal as he returns and offers his assistance.

"It might be rather dangerous, helping alongside a pair of large machines like that. Are you sure you'd be fine?" She asks.

<Pose Tracker> Morgan Newkirk has posed.

"Its nothin' bad, darlin." Morgan tosses towards Sephy from the top of the Gear. "Just wanna make sure how you two takes ta each other. Thats all. I figure if ya two hit it off well as ya did before, you'll be able to keep him."

A chuckle then. "So see, nothin' bad at all. Anyway, anythin flashing red in that pannel? If there is thats bad, if there isn't thats...less bad." He adds with a grin as he slips to the side to let Layna into the cockpit. It might be a touch snug with two people, but with the hatch open its not uncomfortable.

"Fire control systems are..." Morgan pauses, thinking how best to explain this to someone from Lunar. "...well they do the job of your master gunner there. The'll figure out windspeed, range, arc of fire. The Gear has systems that do all that, and then they just tell ya where to shoot. At least most military systems do, this one doesn't but I know a few places where I can scrounge up one if you want something that hits at range. Or if ya want ta mount a canon on yer Gear."

Because he's figuring she totally wants to put on on the Gear.

"You'll sit here," He gestures to the single seat. "Get a view out there, and the Gear's systems will give you the information you need ta keep it upgright and mobile."

He notes Animal giving a offer of help and again the fox grins. "Well judging from how he popped this hatch, I'm sure he can give more than a bit of help ta get the ship unstuck." Pause. "Unlandlocked." A futher pause before he glances back towards Layna. "...just what kind of situation would you call your ship to be in, its just unusual in my book."

<Pose Tracker> Animal has posed.

"I can avoid the feet of slow moving metal men," Animal declares as if he were mildly insulted that someone would think they need to ask if he can handle walking between the gears in question. He of course, has never seen a gear moving, and has little idea of how fast they actually move, but big things generally move slower than little things. That's the way of the world.

Pushing a hand through his hair, he stares at the machine and has no idea what they're discussing, but he tries to pick up on the terminology being used. As usual. Learn the words and then be able to discuss it later.

"Launched!" he says to Morgan as he wiggles his toes a bit more.

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia pouts. "The ship is CLEARLY stuck," she says. "Calling it anything else is bookwords."

<Pose Tracker> Layna Manydays has posed.

Layna looks it over. No, fortunately there didn't seem to be anything flashing red. She listens to his explanation, nodding slowly. Comparing it to Victoria's job made things make a lot more sense.

"Aye... I figure that'd be useful..." She comments with a nod. That'd deal with her primary problem, too. Perhaps she should think about requesting some ranged weaponry, then. "Well, if you can get one, wouldn't mind having it. If you're making repairs anyway, might as well and go ahead and install one of those too, aye?"

She nods when he points to the seat, then stares at what would be the interface. She wasn't sure how that worked yet, but she trusted his word on it and nods.

Dahlia frowns slightly at Animal's confidence. He was taking this a bit nonchalantly...be she supposes that if Morgan thought he'd be fine, she shouldn't worry about it.

"I believe 'landlocked' would be appropriate, yes...but with any luck, before too long it will no longer be relevant." She comments. She glances toward Sephilia as she points again, but doesn't comment.

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia sticks her tongue out. "I know what relevant means, thank you."

<Pose Tracker> Morgan Newkirk has posed.

"Thats what I'm doing on mine," Morgan agrees with a grin. "Upgrade and repair. After one of the Metal Demons ripped the entire engine out and melted it down, poor things needs a lot of both." The fox doesn't seem much bothered by the fact that one of the Demons seems to have ruined his toy. He actually seems almost happy he gets to repair and redesign it.

Thats sort of how he goes. He loves tinkering with his toys.

"It should work, I'll need to pull some pannels off and see how bad the joints are, and maybe try to get some way to get it out of these mines. I don't think we'll be able to walk it out...but..."

He glances up then, frowning slightly

"Hey Sephy, Animal. Can you two look around for a pannel. Might be on the ground somewhere. Should be square and metal, somewhere around the feet of this thing if its not broken." He calls down before glancing at Layna.

"If this is an old hanger, there might be a door we can use to get it out so we don't have to go though the truble of hauling it out the mine shaft."

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia starts looking for the panel as requested. "I'm not stupid or anything," she mutters petulantly. "I know what words mean, except when they're big words made up for people to sound smart with."

Chauncey does not disagree with Sephy, standing mutely behind the girl as she searches, ready to assist if she finds the panel.

"There weren't that many books around back home! I couldn't learn all the big words for stuff. But I learn quick, I just think they're--aha!"

"Found it! You want it open? It looks pretty badly rusted shut..."

<Pose Tracker> Animal has posed.

Getting up from his spot on a rock, Animal goes over to start looking for a panel as directed. Using his heel he taps at the floor repeatedly, and tries to find a hollow spot, and occasionally shuffles his feet a bit to move the debris and such from the floor, clearing it away so that he can see if there is a panel hidden underneath whatever is there.

When Sephilia finds it, he nods and goes back to sit on his rock. Idly counting his toes while he waits for the others to finish their tinkering with the metal man.

<Pose Tracker> Layna Manydays has posed.

Layna remembered him fighting the Demon with it, but she hadn't been aware of the extent of the damage.

"Aye? Well, then I guess both of these machines will be reborn better than before." She comments with a grin, patting one of the consoles. One of the lights that had been darkned to that point flickers to life briefly in response, before fading once more.

"Whoops. Hopefully that wasn't a bad thing." She says with a nervous chuckle. "Or...maybe it's just agreeing with me, aye?"

She nods as he mentions what he'll need to do to examine the joints, and as for getting it out of the mines...

"Aye, that would make things easier. The route me buckos found could be useful, but I'd not say no to something far easier." She agrees.

Back on the ground, Dahlia glances toward Sephilia again. It seems the girl had taken her comment pretty harshly. She almost felt bad about it.

"There isn't anything wrong with not knowing 'big words'. The important part is that you ask." She comments. She considers offering the use of her axe to help with the panel, but decides that between Chauncey and Animal they could probably get it open without her help.

<Pose Tracker> Morgan Newkirk has posed.

"Lets go with agreeing with you, it means you two understand each other." Morgan replies with a chuckle as he winks towards her. "Just remember to always think positive thoughts." THe man adds towards the Captain as he leans back against the edge of the cockpit, arms crossed in front of his chest.

He hears Sephy down below though. "Excellent! If you two can get it open, tell me what colors the lights are inside. If you see anything green, just press that button." He adds as he looks down over the edge of the Gear and towards the ground. "If we can get the hanger here open it'll be great..."

A pause again.

"...just...if it works, might want to get into cover."

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia frowns. "I don't think I can get Chauncey's claws under the edges," she says. "Can I break it?"

<Pose Tracker> Animal has posed.

Hopping off of his rock, Animal goes over to the panel, squats beside it, and then punches it once. It buckles up at the edges, and he peels it open with a shrieking sound. He tosses the panel aside, and then looks down inside and doesn't know what to make of what he sees in there. He shrugs then at Morgan, not sure what to say of what he sees there.

With a look at Sephilia, he says, "What do I push?" and leans in to look at what's inside a bit more closely, not sure how it works.

A look then at the others, and he settles back on his haunches, his eyes half-lidded, a sleepy sort of look on his face.

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephy peers in and points. "The green ones," she says.

<Pose Tracker> Animal has posed.

"Which ones are green?" Animal asks of Sephilia. "I see ones with green lights by them, are those the green ones?" he asks, and reaches in to lightly start brushing some of the dust away, doing his best not to push the buttons in the process.

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

"I think so?" The girl coughs, realizing that she doesn't want to sound like she doesn't know, then adds, "Yes, those ones."

<Pose Tracker> Animal has posed.

Leaning in, Animal pushes one of the green ones, which starts some sort of internal pump in one of the nearby walls, and a sound of first a vaccuum of air being drawn, and then rushing fluid can be heard. "I pushed it!" he declares.

<Pose Tracker> Layna Manydays has posed.

"Aye, that would be a treat! And besides, I'm always positive!" Layna replies with a chuckle and a grin. Almost always, at least where it didn't concern large, murderous adversaries with a hatred of mankind.

Dahlia monitors Animal and Sephilia as they start to get the panel open. She keeps her axe drawn, just in case she needs to use it again anything that might come out. Who knew what had taken residence within the depths of the hangar since the last time it was used?

Everything looked fine so far, though.

<Pose Tracker> Morgan Newkirk has posed.

The button is pressed, the air pumps start and the sounds of working machinery fill the cave. Then there is a rumble above them. The very ground of the cave trembles as the heavens above being to open.

Litterally.

One side of the cave wall and part of the ceiling begins to slide away. Rocks displaced start to fall and tumble round the cavern as ancient gears grind ancient doors apart. Dayling floods into the place as the resting place of the ancient Gear feels fresh air for the first time in a thousand years.

Dirt, grass, and small trees start to fall into the widening gap as Morgan laughs. "Yup! Thats the right button! Take cover under the Gear!" He calls out as he leaps into the pilots compartment and pulls the hatch half-way shut to keep things from banging into the cockpit.

...so now its a little cozy.

<Pose Tracker> Animal has posed.

Walking under the big gear, Animal gets the idea as soon as a few rocks go sailing past and hit the platform around them. He leaps up then, and simply latches to the underside of the gear, holding on to it with both hands. "Weeee!" he says as he rides the lift, very slowly, to the surface.

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephy dashes for cover! "Wow, I wonder how they built that to open like that!" she exclaims. She's sad she won't get to diagram the mechanisms, most likely.

<Pose Tracker> Layna Manydays has posed.

Both Layna and Dahlia look up, somewhat awed as the chamber stirs to life. The idea that Filgaian technology could still function even now, after all this time...

"Heh...it sure is determined..." Layna murmurs, a grin widening on her face. It's around this time that Morgan hops into the cockpit, and Layna scoots aside to give him a little more room.

It becomes clear that this...wasn't exactly a Gear meant to seat two people. Layna doesn't seem bothered by it at all. She just sends him a grin.

"Well, well. Ahoy there, Morgan." She says.

Meanwhile, Dahlia joins Animal and Sephilia beneath the Gear, using it for cover.

"I...can't even begin to imagine. It's rather fascinating." She comments. "Ah...I just hope Victoria isn't too upset with us for leaving her behind."

She totally would be, but she'd probably be okay with it once she knew what it was for.

<Pose Tracker> Morgan Newkirk has posed.

"Ahoy back, Lady Pirate." Comes the smirk from the Fox as he attempts to make both of them as comfy as possible. Cozy is defintally the operative word here. "...well...I did tell ya that I'd be working to make this place comfortable didn't I?"

Outside of the canopy the light catches the ancient Gear as it raises level with the outside, screaching and protesting elevator working. Likely its last. "...I'm pretty sure though that this might be this little contraptions last ride. At least without some serious work."

A smirk at that before he looks down. "Sorry about that though, darlin. Should have warned ya about the rumblin...but..." The grin returns. "...at least this was fun."

The elevator and door eventually rumble to a stop, leaving the Gear on the surface. Which defintally helps in the transportation.

<Pose Tracker> Layna Manydays has posed.

"Aye, that you did." Layna agrees, that grin of hers still stuck to her face. She returns her gaze to the outside. Slowly but surely, they're definitely rising up. The machinery is struggling, but they're definitely going to the surface.

"Aye...well, its sacrifice won't be in vain. It's done its work, after all." She comments.

Sure, the rumbling was a surprise, but it wasn't like it was too concerning.

"That it was, lad." She agrees.

Dahlia can't see this going on, but she can hear it from her position under the Gear. Her eyes are rolling something fierce, now.

"This Morgan is quite the character..." She mutters. It's not complete disapproval of the man himself, just some of his...

...Characteristics.

Eventually, they arrive at the surface. When the hatch of the Gear's cockpit opens up Layna climbs out. Rather than making her way to the ground she stands atop it, using the opportunity to take a look at the surrounding area.

"Well lad...thanks for everything. Once you figure out how much everything will cost, get in touch with Dahlia, alright? The two of you can work something out, payment-wise." Layna says with a grin.

"We should probably go collect the rest of our crew, but I'm sure you can take everything from here." With a nod toward Morgan and a brief wave towards Sephilia Dahlia turns to leave.

With a grin Layna leaps from the Gear, using a gust of wind to break her fall, and begins to follow after her, though not before waving back as well.
