====================<* CHALLENGE - Artillery Bombardment *>=====================
|Type: Entry |Dungeon Ability: Agility |Challenge Rating: 3 |
---------------------------< Challenge Information: >---------------------------
The vicinity of the Guardian Temple has turned into a full-blown war zone. A
rush of Kislevi forces and a counter-action by Aveh forces have resulted in
an enormous fight between infantry, Gears, and support vehicles. In the
distance, you can make out where the enormous Kislevi-controlled Golem is
sending huge gouts of energy into the ranks of Aveh's forces. This is truly
worrisome, but a more immediate concern presents itself.

One side has chosen this moment to begin an artillery bombardment. Shells
rain down near your position, huge fireballs and blasts of shrapnel hurtling
at you, posing a severe threat as you try to make your way westward.
=Dungeon Conditions: Slow, Suffer=============================================
<Pose Tracker> Alisha Diphda has posed.

The Shepherd and his retinue found the Mediums -- and many questions -- which left one choice: heading back out. They found a secret passage, which made the way out easier.

Alisha steps out into the sun now, having taken point, and she stretches both arms above her head. For a moment, it seemed the artillery bombardment had stopped -- but then a shell slams into the Temple, above them. Fire and stone rain down. The princess shrieks -- and then jumps, running forward. "This is--"

She realizes, immediately, what this is.

Other soldiers, wearing other uniforms, are here. She sees the bursts of gunfire, to say nothing of the colossal Golem ahead of them. Alisha's eyes widen, as she stares at it, then she looks up. Another shell whistles above them.

"--this is a war zone, now!" she calls out. "Everyone, we--we have to get away from here!"

DG: Alisha Diphda has contributed a Agility Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Artillery Bombardment.
<Pose Tracker> Sorey has posed.

The fighting ended up getting a lot closer than Sorey had expected! While they had known that there was some conflict out there, the Shepherd hadn't expected for them to emerge right into the middle of everything. The sight of soldiers fighting isn't one that he's seen before - not to this extend. But he looks around for a moment, and can only agree with Alisha.

"Be careful everyone - we don't want to get caught up in all of this if we can help it!" he calls out. He draws his sword, but doesn't unleash the Flame of Purification just yet. But still, there is something about this battle... something that is grinding at his senses, making him feel uncomfortable about the entire thing.

The artillery is blasting craters in the ground, and Sorey pulls a rope free just in case someone falls down. Making this sort of run means that if they pause for a moment, they have a chance of taking an unexpected hit. Mikleo turns and unleashes a blast of ice as a shell comes whistling down towards the group, freezing it in place. "I don't know if I can cover us for too long, keep moving and stick together!" the water Seraph calls. "Dezel, see if you can divert any shells I miss away from the group!"

DG: Sorey has used his Tool Climbing Kit toward his party's challenge, Artillery Bombardment.
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Edna has posed.

All of those fun and good times out of the way, the group makes their way out of the temple with less resistance than they met going in. Edna is almost, ALMOST, about to let herself breathe a sigh of relief when come out into full view of the utter war zone the surrounding area has become.

"... Really?"

THWOOM

The ground beneath them quakes and fore and schrapnel falls from the skies above. Time to move. Edna dips forward into a run, following along with the others. Every now and then, she uses a stone pillar to launch herself into the air, umbrella opened up as she channels waves of gravity magic through it to form a sort of well that diverts debris and shells that gets too close.

"A shame I can't just disappear inside Sorey and let that be the end of it." Comes a grumble from the girl as she lands and segues back into a run. Hmph.

DG: Seraph Edna has used her Tool Umbrella toward her party's challenge, Artillery Bombardment.
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lailah has posed.

After finding the mediums and making it out of the guardian room, Lailah was glad they were able to get out without too much trouble. Unfortunately, things seem to have escalated even more then when they first arrived and the most obvious sign of that is the artillery fire raining down as they emerge.

Lailah nods at Alisha's warning, "Let's go!" It's not easy to dodge the amount of artillery fire raining down. As if the temple trying to kill them wasn't bad enough. She notices Sorey's uneasiness and it's something that she can feel as well.

Lailah does her best to keep any forces that are nearby from coming too close as they make their way through the battlefield.

DG: Seraph Lailah has contributed a Agility Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Artillery Bombardment.
<Pose Tracker> Rose has posed.

Once out of the trap-filled temple, it wasn't long before the party was greeted to the familiar sight of Eguille and the rest of the Sparrowfeathers. Cornered on the frontlines, after coming all the way over to sell adventuring wares - back when this was just supposed to be another set of ruins being dug up and explored - now they had to leave abruptly and try not to lose too much on the way out. Caravans are, sadly, not exactly built for speed, but they'll do what they can and lose as much weight as possible.

The horses on their own are worth a fortune.

Dezel had held on this far, keeping the Metal Demons at bay just long enough that Sorey's party managed to come back out of the temple. But now it's obvious that despite his gruff, dismissive attitude, he's exhausted, and not going to be much help. He wouldn't admit it, of course, and that's why when Sorey tells him to cover the party of shells, he he kicks a breeze up to throw one off-course.

"What are they DOING starting a fight here, anyway?!" Rose whines, following Sorey's example of keeping ropes out and available from the caravans. "I knew Aveh and Kislev were at each others' throats but don't they realize they're going to level the ruins?! Nevermind that, shouldn't they be focusing on the Metal Demons?" Politics. They'll never be Rose's thing. Maybe that's the secret reason she goes around killing nobles, she just hates politics.

DG: Rose has used her Tool Grappling Hook toward her party's challenge, Artillery Bombardment.

======================<* CHALLENGE - Garlyle Commando *>======================
|Type: Exploration |Dungeon Ability: Combat |Challenge Rating: 2 |
--------------------------< Challenge Information: >--------------------------
Aveh's ally in the war has not left it out. As you make your way across the
battlefield, a series of fireballs comes raining dwon from above. You find
yourself caught in a pincer attack by a team of Garlyle commandos. Their
black uniforms are crisp -- and their aim is sharp, as gunfire peppers down
around you. Several leap in after, short swords drawn, and ready to strike
 you down!
=Dungeon Conditions: Wound, Injure============================================
<Pose Tracker> Alisha Diphda has posed.

"I--I don't know!" the princess answers Rose. Her tensions run high. Perhaps seeing two nations fight a war, needlessly and bloodily, hits somewhere too close to home. Her eyes are wide -- and she stumbles, as a shockwave from a nearby explosion throws her to the ground. When she comes up, blood is running down her face. She hisses, softly, and wipes at her face.

She looks back up at Lailah, then at Edna. She frowns for a moment. "Please be careful! Sorey, you too, this... this is terrible."

She sucks a breath in and keeps moving. Though, she does stare at a distant Gear.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Edna has posed.

Edna is beside Alisha, a hand held out and glowing. A golden rune of soothing energy forms below her, helping to heal that bleeding wound. "Try not to let that happen again." She murmurs, looking around at the situation as they move. "This world is apparently facing a crisis and the humans start fighting each other. Nice. Real class act."

She rolls her eyes, but then right at that moment- Pew pew pewpewpew! Gunfire starts raining down from all around. Edna tsks and stomps a foot to hastily raise up a stone wall that takes a few shots. Then it sinks back down in time for the sight of several soldiers armed with short blades dashing in to help make everyone's lives worse.

"And then there's this." The earth seraph grumbles, pointing her umbrella at the ground, then directing it upwards to cause a few flat topped stone pillars to burst up and strike a few in the gut. No killing the humans. Right.

DG: Seraph Edna has contributed a Combat Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Garlyle Commando.
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lailah has posed.

The artillery continues to rain down and for all of their trying to get out unscathed, it's impossible to dodge it all. Lailah looks at Rose even as they run. "I don't know what they are trying to do but we definitely don't want to be in the middle of this." Lailah groans to herself as a number of artillery pieces come flying towards her. While she doesn't take anything directly, it's enough to cause her to have to slow down her pace a little.

"This fighting...I don't think they realize what this is going to do." She knows all too well of the perils of war, not only the loss of life but also it is the breeding ground for malevolence. Lailah seems oddly quiet even as the artillery continues to rain down at them.

And then they find themselves in tthe middle of another battlefield and Lailah cringes. "This... Sorey..." She frowns and moves closer to the shepherd, attempting to shield all of them from the armies. Fire materializes around her and Lailah uses everything she has to deflect their attacks. There is a gust of hot wind as the fire spreads outward in a ring around their small group.

DG: Seraph Lailah has used her Tool Panacea Bottle toward her party's challenge, Garlyle Commando.
<Pose Tracker> Rose has posed.

The Sparrowfeather caravans have to lose some supplies to keep up the pace! And what's more, one of them is on fire! As long as Mikleo's in the party that shouldn't be too much of a problem, but so far this is going terrible.

STOCK: 80%

CARAVAN1 HP: 80%

CARAVAN2 HP: 95%r

Rose is glad to see Edna pick Alisha up at least; she was worried for a second there, but doesn't have much time to dote over the princess like a worried mother, what with Garlyle forces showing up - armed, no less.

"I'm going to have some stern words with whoever ordered these goons to attack Drifters and merchants on sight, I swear!" Stern words might be replaced by knives, at Rose's discretion. This is definitely Not Okay and someone deserves a knifin' or five.

She hops onto one of the caravans wholesale, forming a shield of water and ice in front of her by whirling her knives about and slicing a circle in the air. "Shining Mirror!" Goal: cover the caravan from gunfire, reflect it back at attackers.

"At least if we manage to get far enough we should stop catching heat, I doubt they can spare the resources to chase all the people fleeing from the area!"

DG: Rose has used her Tool Brad's Knives toward her party's challenge, Garlyle Commando.
<Pose Tracker> Sorey has posed.

Getting blown up is not on Sorey's list of things to do, and he keeps moving as best he can despite the fact that shells are falling all around them. They manage to get clear of the immediate bombardment zone... but only by virtue of the fact that they are moving into an area where actual soldiers from both sides are fighting. Sorey calls upon the flame of purification, unleashing a blast of blue fire towards several of the soldiers shooting at them.

The Flame doesn't hurt people, but it does overload their senses and more or less leaves them stunned for a time. There's not much Sorey can do but hope that they look like they have fallen on the field. He doesn't like the idea of just leaving people there, but the commitment of power he would need to even dream of putting a stop to the fighting...

"I know, Lailah," he replies after a moment as they keep running. "And I can feel it building - there's malevolence here, although nothing like what I would have expected back home. But if it keeps building..."

DG: Sorey has contributed a Combat Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Garlyle Commando.
<Pose Tracker> Rose has posed.

"I thought you said Malevolence only occured naturally on Lunar!" Rose shouts towards Sorey, although it's less trying to pick at what he said and more trying to see if he's figured out why Malevolence followed them to Filgaia. She's not sensitive enough to it that she can notice it here yet, but she doesn't doubt Sorey in the slightest.

<Pose Tracker> Alisha Diphda has posed.

"This... reminds me of home," Alisha admits to Edna, with a frown that only deepens on her face. She ducks, when the first gunshot comes in. Another slams into her plate armor -- she doesn't take a wound just yet, and Edna's work at healing her isn't all undone. The princess hisses, softly, before she turns, and stares for a moment when one of the soldiers draws a short sword.

She rushes in. The blade is met with her spear, in a spray of sparks -- and then she swings the staff-end of her spear, cracking it for the soldier's neck.

She watches the Flame of Purification wash by. Her eyes widen a moment.

Then, she shoves forward, trying to knock the soldier over with her shoulder. "We--we should rush through! We don't want to get caught here!"

DG: Alisha Diphda has contributed a Combat Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Garlyle Commando.

=======================<* CHALLENGE - Barricade Breaking *>=======================
|Type: Exploration |Dungeon Ability: Brute |Challenge Rating: 2 |
----------------------------< Challenge Information: >----------------------------
A barricade erected by infantry blocks your path ahead. Built between two
outcroppings of rock, it would be hard to go around -- and even though it
was placed in quickly, it is quite sturdy. Huge beams of steel and spikes
make it hard to move. It could be dangerous, too; the chance of cutting
yourself on those spikes is a real threat.
=Dungeon Conditions: Tire, Bad Luck===========================================
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Edna has posed.

The Flames of Purification wash through the area, stunning the soldiers long enough for the others to take them out and open a path. Once they're out of the way, Edna sighs and presses on running. "This is the dumbest thing. I swear..." She narrows her eyes. "Humans..." But still, there's nothing to gain from grumbling about it now! Off they go!

<Pose Tracker> Rose has posed.

"One step ahead of you, princess," Eguille calmly states, as he whips the horses of his caravan into action. The second one back, with the twins on the horses rather than holding reins, build up speed at the sight too. There goes another crate of... oh, tournament memorabilia.

The battlefield lays littered with DRAGON SLAYING SLACKER merchandise.

Rose weeps at the loss.

But now ahead, there's an obstacle. Building up speed might not have been the greatest idea. Steel spikes, beams and crates lay in a straight line, a barricade built for soldiers to take cover behind and remain save from even Gear attacks. They've long since deserted their post or been bombed out of it - craters suggest the latter - but that barricade is right in the way. It's already a bit damaged from the artillery and Metal Demon attacks, so maybe with a bit more effort it can be broken right through...?

"What, you Seraphim never have wars like this? Really?" Rose is curious, so she asks Edna the question right off.

She also throws a grenade towards the barricade ahead, but it's all she has. And it's not exactly some quality high-explosives either, just a standard hand grenade.

DG: Rose has contributed a Brute Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Barricade Breaking.
<Pose Tracker> Alisha Diphda has posed.

"Ah... all right," Alisha says, with a look up at Eguille. As the Flames clear the area, Alisha starts to move ahead -- fast as she can. But she has to slow, as she comes face to face with a barrier that has been lowered. One that, now, blocks the path forward for them and the Sparrowfeathers' cart. She frowns, her lips pressed into a line.

Then, she looks at Rose. "Not according to the teachings of the Church," she says. And she has enough faith to believe that.

The princess stretches her hands out, gauntlets on them, and then grips tightly onto the barricade. She starts to give it a good, proper shove.

DG: Alisha Diphda has used her Tool Crystal Gauntlet toward her party's challenge, Barricade Breaking.
<Pose Tracker> Sorey has posed.

They've managed to break through that problem, thankfully. Sorey looks about for a moment as they finally manage to break free for the moment. Not getting shot is, at least in his opinion, a major improvement.

"Well, the Seraphim in the village where I was raised didn't even have buildings to use as homes until I came there, from what Gramps told me," Sorey explains to Rose. He pauses ahead of the barricade, waiting for Rose's grenade to go off before he moves to help start levering pieces out of the way so the wagons can get through.

"Because they don't have possessions, there isn't any reason for them to fight - and since wars like this can cause malevolence, actually fighting would be a major problem for them as well." He grunts, and then Alisha pitches in to help push this huge piece of debris out of the way. "Thanks!" he states with a smile. "We need to hurry, who knows what is going to come along next."

DG: Sorey has contributed a Brute Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Barricade Breaking.
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lailah has posed.

It true that malevolence is not natural on Filgaia but it's still worrisome to be in the middle of a battle like this knowing that malevolence tends to spread. "I am not sure how the malevolence here is different than on Lunar but we still don't know enough about why it's here to begin with." For now, that's all Lailah says on the matter as they're still running for their lives.

Despite the army trying to get through the various barriers they have around them, they are no match for the group and they manage to clear an area to escape through. "Nice one Sorey." Lailah smiles and then as they continue to push past, a blockade gives them very few options but to try and blast through it. The rocks on either side are too large but then again they had Edna.

"Edna, can you get through the barrier?" Lailah asks od her fellow seraphim. She also shakes her head at Rose. "We didn't have wars, no. Sorey and Alisha are right about that."

Turning her attention back to the barricade, Lailah will attempt to use whatever firepower she can to assist in breaking through it. "Be careful of the spikes!" Last thing she wants is for someone to get overzealous and impale a hand or worse.

DG: Seraph Lailah has contributed a Brute Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Barricade Breaking.
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Edna has posed.

"No."

That's the simple answer that Rose gets from Edna before she's focusing back on trying to escape from this hellscape. And then a shrug of the shoulder. "Sorey's got the right of it." May as well just defer to him and his gramps. Any Seraphim that gets called gramps has to know their stuff.

The rather dangerous looking barrier up ahead makes the girl frown. "...I'll try." She grumbles before rearing back with a fist. A huge, silver gauntlet is summoned, floating into existence by her. And once in proper range, she throws that fist forward, sending the floating metal construct crashing into, and hopefully through the blockade.

DG: Seraph Edna has used her Tool Divine Gauntlets toward her party's challenge, Barricade Breaking.

<Pose Tracker> Rose has posed.

Rose didn't expect an unanimous answer like that. "Huh... I guess... if humans were basically allergic to evil, they might not constantly start wars either. In a weird way it sounds like the way Malevolence affects Seraphim might be as much of a blessing as it's a curse." But probably, mostly a curse.

With Alisha and Edna going ham on the damaged steel structures, Lailah using heat to make the metal easier to bend and Sorey showing he's way stronger than he looks, the caravans are able to pass through without TOO MUCH more damage. A few rips and tears on the fabrics that cover them up, but it's a small price to pay to get through.

Your westward flight is interrupted -- because as you run into this section
of the battlefield, you find yourself moving between a line of Kislevi and
Aveh infantry. Armed with gunsmoke ARMs, the two are firing on each other,
sending bursts of gunfire into their ranks. They are behind trenches hastily
dug, but you aren't so lucky. While they aren't aiming for you, bullets come
whizzing by your head, threatening to shoot you down.
=Dungeon Conditions: Injure===================================================
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lailah has posed.

The metal construct is hurled through the barrier with all the force of a small hurricane and the barricade shatters. Pieces of rocks and metal explode and the path is clear for them to get past. Lailah walks past the rubble carefully, making sure to avoid the spikes beneath the surface.

Rose's remark gets a sigh from Lailah. "Well, you already heard how bad it is if seraphim get corrupted by malevolence." She doesn't bring up the dragons again specifically but Rose could probably get that's what she's hinting at.

Just on the other side of the barricade, the way is once again blocked by forces attempting to kill each other. "Why...ugh!" Lailah sighs. "I don't think we can get around unless we want to really become their targets." She is actually surprised they're not firing on them but maybe the can avoid the worst of it.

Lailah swifly moves to avoid the bullets, making sure the others do as well. "We need to get through this as fast as possible!" She looks back to the caravan. "Dezel and Mikleo, can you guys help them?" The fire seraph figures the combination of water and wind would be enough to hopefully protect more of Rose's precious cargo but more importantly Eguille and the others.

DG: Seraph Lailah has contributed a Agility Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Caught in the Crossfire.
<Pose Tracker> Alisha Diphda has posed.

"ARMs..." Alisha trails off. She has been shot before. She has never enjoyed it. She frowns, and then she ducks down low, looking back over her shoulder at Lailah. "Try to duck low, and don't run in a straight line. It is--not entirely unlike avoiding crossbow fire!"

But it is not very like it, either.

She does as asked, and she bolts forward. Alisha charges through the firing lines, adopting a serpentine pattern. The bullets flash by -- one whizzes past her hair, cutting a lock off, and sends it flying. She sucks a sharp breath in, but keeps low as she runs.

"Eguille!" she calls. "Can you and the caravan get through!?"

DG: Alisha Diphda has contributed a Agility Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Caught in the Crossfire.
<Pose Tracker> Sorey has posed.

"Thankfully I think we'll be able to slip through this without too much trouble," Sorey comments, watching the shots fly back and forth. "They seem like they're focusing on each other more than anyone else moving through the area, As long as we do as Alisha says, I think we've got a decent chance of getting through here."

Sorey has certainly been shot at, but never as badly as Alisha has during some of her earlier adventures here. On the other hand they do have the advantage of being civilians... and having invisible helpers who can try and keep people occupied.

"Mikleo, take a few of these ropes and see if you can cause some trouble that will buy us some time," Sorey states, pulling a few more items out of his climbing kit. "If they're distracted, we should be able to make it through without too much trouble."

The Water Seraph nods, and sets out to basically tie some people's legs together and then yank them out from under them. It's not entirely safe, but being invisible to most people does have it's upside.

DG: Sorey has used his Tool Climbing Kit toward his party's challenge, Caught in the Crossfire.
<Pose Tracker> Rose has posed.

Dezel status: still too cool to admit being exhausted.

Per Lailah's request, he grins, showing his full complement of pointed teeth. Thin green wires zip out of his sleeves, a golden pendulum firing into the firefight, trailing a barely visible green streak behind it. Bullets are intercepted by the pendulum and wires - and Dezel, well, he doesn't have qualms about being rougher than the others. That pendulum reaches for grenades still stuck to the soldiers' belts, to rip the pins off.

Eguille and the others can't see any of that, but they have faith in the Shepherd and his retinue. "Don't have much choice but to try!" he responds to Alisha - and it's true, too.

Rose, for her part, tosses some extra rope towards Mikleo. "Double that request! I bet most of those soldiers can't even see you guys, right? ... can their bullets still hurt you?" Important question.

DG: Rose has used her Tool Grappling Hook toward her party's challenge, Caught in the Crossfire.
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Edna has posed.

After having taken down that blockade, Edna stares left and right at the two forces firing on one another. She blinks slowly. And then she just starts walking. Her umbrella is opened up, a golden aura shimmering over it as earth magic hardens it to extreme degrees. Then... she just proceeds on, using it as a shield. Sometimes changing which side it's own, but just walking and bringing up the rear all the same.

Even on a battlefield; laziness reigns supreme.

...Yep.

DG: Seraph Edna has used her Tool Umbrella toward her party's challenge, Caught in the Crossfire.

Some bandits do not wait for the battle to be over, before they begin the
grisly business of looting the dead. As you move to the edge of the fight,
you find a group of bandits that are not waiting long at all. Clad in heavy
desert garments, toting Gunsmoke ARMs, they see you -- and drop bloodied
bags of loot, before lifting their guns and opening fire.
=Dungeon Conditions: Bad Luck, Tire===========================================
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lailah has posed.

For all of the bullets flying around, the team working together seems to have paid off. They manage to escape through the battlefield unscathed. Even still, Lailah takes a second to look back after making sure that everyone was okay. It's not the same as a Lunar war but still it seems like it is going to be impossible to find peace here. Everyone wants to be on top and there is so much suffering because of it.

The fighting isn't over though and as the group figures out their next move, the sight of looters is very unwelcome. The bodies litter the battlefield and unfortunately it's a prime opportunity for them to get something for nothing.

She isn't sure if the looters can spot her and the other seraphim but as they look up and see Sorey and the others they seem to take notice quickly and the battle once again is joined. Lailah sends fire outward towards the looters. Should they not be able to see her, it would probably be surprising and at the very least catch them off guard.

DG: Seraph Lailah has used her Tool Panacea Bottle toward her party's challenge, Pre-Graverobbers.
<Pose Tracker> Sorey has posed.

The group has moved beyond the overall battle at this point - or the battle has moved beyond them. It's hard to say, especially without the ability to get a look at what is going on from on high. But as the group and its accompanying's caravan slip away from the battle, it becomes clear that there are other threats even outside of the main thrust of fighting.

Several bandits are pillaging the bodies of the fallen, picking up anything that looks like it might have even the smallest bit of value. And unfortunately for the Sparrowfeathers, the sight of a fully loaded caravan full of goods is just too much to pass up.

"Hell with this scavenging!" one of the bandits shouts, pointing at the caravan (and by extension Sorey and the group as well). "Hit that damn thing - we can get away from this nightmare and don't have to worry about getting shot any more!"

There is a shout that goes up from the rest of the bandits, and they pull out guns, wildly popping off random shots as they all run right towards the wagons like a pack of madmen. There's... more sound than actual fury though, these men seem beat and blooded by coming into close contact with the fighting. They seem far more interested in scaring off Sorey's group than actually trying to hurt anyone.

Sorey draws his sword, and unleashes a wave of blue flame to drive some of the bandits back. "Sorry, but we're not going to turn over all the goods Rose and her people have worked so hard for! This battle is a terrible place - we don't want to hurt you, but if you get knocked out here it's hard to say what will happen!"

DG: Sorey has contributed a Combat Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Pre-Graverobbers.
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Edna has posed.

Well, that's one situation cleared, only for another to pop up. Edna narrows her eyes at the sight of the looters. They probably can't see her, but all the same. She raises a foot... and then stomps.

The ground bursts, stone pillars flying up for a couple gut punches again. "Seriously. Looting an active battlefield now." She waves her free hand lazily. "Woo. Malevolence. Always gets my blood pumping, you know?"

If it were possible for Edna to be less impressed with humanity than she was right this moment, she'd be setting a damn record.

DG: Seraph Edna has contributed a Combat Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Pre-Graverobbers.
<Pose Tracker> Rose has posed.

Rose is so not putting up with that.

After the caravans miraculously make it through the firing lines without so much as a scratch, thanks to everyone's combined efforts, they come face to face with bandits. A few throwing knives immediatly fly, trying to disarm the bandits (not literally, don't worry) to intimidate them. If that isn't enough, Rose readies herself, her larger, trusty knives ready to pounce into action if needed.

Given Edna and Sorey's more direct approaches it might not be needed. Eguille looks like he feels very sorry for those bandits, because out of all the caravans to try abushing... well, you know.

This round's battle chatter: "Say, Sorey, what's your blue flames do to like... non-evil people, anyway? Just burns them like regular fire? I bet that really sucks for them." Nudge nudge wink wink, bandits.

DG: Rose has used her Tool Brad's Knives toward her party's challenge, Pre-Graverobbers.
<Pose Tracker> Alisha Diphda has posed.

"You should stand down, and rethink your life decisions! This is not a task you have to do!" Alisha cries after Sorey speaks. She swings her spear up, then. Light glimmers from the spear, dancing across the edge of the blade-like end of it. It flickers, when she does. Then, she cracks a smile.

And a fang of light erupts -- shooting across the ground, rushing to meet the first of the badnits, before they can get too close to the caravan. They were her sponsors. She won't let it be raided without a fight.

"Demon Fang!"

But, really, Alisha is counting on the Seraphim's magic and the Flames to do most of the work of scaring them off.

DG: Alisha Diphda has contributed a Combat Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Pre-Graverobbers.

<Pose Tracker> Sorey has posed.

"Actually," Sorey comments as he hits another bandit with a blast of flame from his sword. "It seems to... well, stun them. They don't enjoy getting hit by it, but it doesn't seem to do more than daze them for a little while."

It doesn't take very long before the bandits have had enough. Having a few experienced fighters standing against them is bad enough - having the ground move without warning, fire appear out of nowhere, and water just dunk them without rhyme or reason in the middle of the desert is enough to run anyone off. Within a few minutes, they are little more than figures retreating into the distance, and Sorey wipes the back of his head.

"We're almost out of here. Let's keep moving!" he declares.

So close to escaping this battlefield. Just a bit more...

DG: Alisha Diphda has drawn a new Challenge.

|Type: Final |Dungeon Ability: Brute |Challenge Rating: 2 |

The Golem Sado has dominated the battlefield in the distance. A fully armed
and operation Golem is a terror to behold, and the violet, snake-like
machine towers over the battlefield. Gears lay scattered and shattered
around it, and periodically, a beam of energy lances across the ground and
burns something from existence. That happens now, as a land battleship from
 Aveh hurls through the air.

It has been blasted through and burnt -- and it smashes into the very ground
before you. It shatters apart into so much debris, and makes a huge mountain
of fiery wreckage. You cannot possibly clear it.

But you must climb, hack, and cut your way through -- because on the other
side is a final escape from the battlefield.
=Dungeon Conditions: Wound====================================================
<Pose Tracker> Alisha Diphda has posed.

'Let's keep moving!'

The way ahead is, in fact, mostly clear. And then Alisha notices the shadow flying over her head. She gawks, turning to look behind her, and she sees the Golem Sado already turning. The immense thing burns through a Gear -- and then the landship slams into the ground. Glass, dust, and debris explode out in a shockwave that rolls past them. They're far enough that it only coats them, head to toe, in dust.

But then it sits there, a huge obstacle, that blocks them off. Denies them a way ahead. Alisha stares at it for a moment, her lips working, and then she shakes her head. "How..."

And then she spots it. A door, busted off its hinges. "Everyone! I think--we need to go through it. It probably offers the best cover of anything here!"

She runs forward. She grabs the door, with both hands. Her biceps strain -- and the gauntlets keep her from getting torn up -- and then yanks. The door tears away, and leads to the twisting hallways within!

DG: Alisha Diphda has used her Tool Crystal Gauntlet toward her party's challenge, The Shattered Landship.
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Edna has posed.

".... ..... ........"

Edna raises her umbrella, having used it to shield herself once the landship fell. Then her eyes narrow. "Seriously?" She grumbles, staring with mild irritation at their newest and sudden obstacle. Then she looks off at the golem in the distance.

"Let's go and beat the rocks off that golem instead."

Dumb idea.

Edna knows it too, so she sighs and closes up her umbrella, lowering the implement to her side as she raises her other arm to summon one of those giant silver gauntlets. "Fine."

And with that, she's punching through debris, pulling away doors, and carving through walls alongside Alisha in an effort to just get through this mess.

Surely they can do that much, right?

DG: Seraph Edna has used her Tool Divine Gauntlets toward her party's challenge, The Shattered Landship.
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lailah has posed.

The bandits seem to realize that they are outmatched. Perhaps the reward isn't worth possibly losing their lives over after all. Lailah is grateful for that and the fact that they seem to be through the worst of the battles. Even for a seraphim this has been exhausting and she can't imagine how her human friends feel right now. Of course even after all this is over there is going to be an even bigger mess but that's something to worry about later.

Looking into the distance, Lailah can see the huge Golem. "Wow..." The broken Gears seem numerous. That thing definitely has a lot of power and unfortunately it uses that power at that precise moment to throw a battleship in their direction.

Bit and pieces of the ship fly off as it lands and Lailah looks to Alisha. "I am not sure that we can get through it but I am willing to try!" The inside is pretty messed up and as Lailah follows her inside it feels like the whole thing is going to collapse even more. It's dark and Lailah uses flames to help illuminate the way as well as attempting to keep stuff from falling on the group.

DG: Seraph Lailah has contributed a Brute Basic Action toward her party's challenge, The Shattered Landship.
<Pose Tracker> Rose has posed.

"Oh. That's convenient!" Rose replies to Sorey, on the matter of his powers. A bit odd that fire doesn't burn, but it's magical fire so it's okay.

"... through?" Eguille asks Alisha, raising a brow. Rose takes it in stride and just grins. "Well, come on now Eguille, you'll get to brag you drove a caravan right through a ship. We just have to hope we cross it faster than it sinks and tips over!"

Eguille laughs helplessly. "Missy, you really must hate life being boring." To which Rose just grins wider.

She hops down from the caravan roof, to sit by Eguille in her usual position. "I'm not sure going to beat up that giant thing is going to be a good idea anytime soon! I don't want it to do to us what it did to that ship! Or those Gears. Geez, where'd they find that thing?" The answer is probably ruins.

DG: Rose has contributed a Brute Basic Action toward her party's challenge, The Shattered Landship.
<Pose Tracker> Sorey has posed.

There's not a lot of choice but to keep moving here! Sorey follows Alisha as she makes a charge through the doorway, knowing that they don't have a lot of time here before someone decides to come check out this huge battleship that has so... precipitously arrived to block their path forward.

Sorey doesn't spare much effort. He calls on the power of his friends who are even now helping them to push through, and as Alisha bursts through the first door, Sorey is already moving ahead. He reaches out with one hand, and looks to Edna for a moment. "We're going to need a lot of room to get the caravan through here. Let's try and push open a large enough path. Mikleo, Lailah, I need you to keep an ear out for anyone who might still be trapped in here. We want to try and break them out rather than crush them while we're opening a path!"

It's going to take all their magic together to break a large enough path for Rose's wagons - and it's probably going to leave a lot of people scratching their heads at to what, exactly, came through here.

DG: Sorey has contributed a Brute Basic Action toward his party's challenge, The Shattered Landship.

active, and you could use these to force your way out.

OOC: Congratulations! You may each do some +request work to repair these
Gears and make them serviceable for a fight, if you wish.
=Dungeon Conditions: Treasure=================================================
<Pose Tracker> Alisha Diphda has posed.

They tear their way through the ship.

The merciful news is that they break into a huge hangar, thanks in part to the Divine Gauntlets shredding the way open. Alisha steps through first, spear at the ready -- and then stops, and stares upward. Gears, and deactivated ones. She swallows, hard. "Those are..."

A beat.

"...inactive," she realizes, and then lets out a sigh of relief. The idea of piloting one doesn't occur to her -- she has no aptitude for a wagon, much less a forty-five foot tall fighting robot -- so she steps, quietly, towards the other side. She motions. "Ah--this is a door, leading to the other side! A huge one!" she calls out. "We could escape from here!"

<Pose Tracker> Sorey has posed.

Sorey actually looks kind of impressed as they break through. "It looks like we're in the clear! But... man those things are kind of big," he muses, staring up at them for a long moment. Having a clear run away from the rest of the fighting is nice, and it means that they can stop and actually take things in a little bit. "A pity we've got no idea how to operate any of these. They might make it easier to get some additional distance away from the battlefield, and plus we could just have them carry Rose's wagons so we don't have to worry about them getting any more blown up."

75 percent indeed.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Edna has posed.

Edna stops as she steps into the hangar and sees the inactive giant constructs.

"... ..... ......."

She looks back the way they came, mostly in the vague direction of that giant golem wreaking havoc out there. She looks back to the Gears. "......" She starts approaching one. Once close enough to one, she starts feeling around and poking at whatever she can reach, until *click* *whirrrrrr* A cockpit opens up.

"Oh."

Casually, she just goes and climbs inside, seating herself and then looking around at all the panels and buttons and wow there's a ton of crap in here. "..... I have no idea how any of this works."

.....

She starts to randomly press buttons and turn switches.

Edna please.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lailah has posed.

Lailah is relieved to find that there aren't any humans in the ship and it does seem to do a very good job of protecting them from the battle outside. She follows Alisha until they emerge into a...hangar. "Wow...I can't believe this place wasn't damaged."

The sight of the Gears seems to take her by surprise though but thankfully nothing immediately jumps out and tries to kill them. She looks over them though with interest. "They are pretty impressive machines." Machines that she has no intent on trying to figure out.

Lailah watches Edna as she goes inside one and begins to press buttons. "Edna...be careful. You know what those things are capable of." Last thing she wanted was to have fight a rogue Gear or even get completely trapped in the ship.

<Pose Tracker> Rose has posed.

"JACKPOT!!" is all Rose has to say, as she turns to grin even wider at Eguille. He laughs again, but this time it's nervously.

"Missy, don't tell me you're thinking about..."

Rose is gone from her seat.

She's already climbing into one of the Gears. Sorry Sorey, your common sense is absolutely no match for her gutso. The Gear jolts awake, barebones as it is. Over the speakers, Rose can be heard going: "Alright, maybe this button?" "No, this one?" "What's this lever do?" "Hey should these lights be flashing red?"

Now lucky for her, they're unarmed, so she doesn't risk screwing up and hurting much of anyone. And even luckier for her, some of the Sparrowfeathers all follow her example and get into a few of the other Gears. As if they'd let this opportunity go to waste!

... well, none of them are pilots, though. By the time they manage to get a single Gear out of the hangar they've already managed to get two on the floor and one jammed in its docking bay.

Nevermind that this is theft. The landship is probably about to explode anyway, they'll just assume the Gears were lost. Though Rose's priority now is going to be to get these things into the hands of an expert. Or Bart. Bart probably knows an expert. There's Morgan, too! And Ida, and Gwen... yeah, Rose has a nice selection of folks to invite over for tea.

<Pose Tracker> Alisha Diphda has posed.

"Edna, w-wait! That--"

Alisha stammers it out, but she turns around, as she sees the other Gears standing up. She gawks for a moment, and then she hurries out of the hangar. She stands on the sands, watching as the Sparrowfeathers and Edna slowly get some of the Gears out. This does, she supposes, make it easier. She turns, after a moment. When no one is looking, she looks down.

A shiver runs up her spine. She closes her eyes as she thinks of the fighting. Then, she looks up, peering back at Sorey. She smiles, once, before she looks to the Gears. She cups her hands, then calls out:

"We should start moving!"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Edna has posed.

The Gear Edna is in powers on suddenly, and her voice echoes out of the speakers. "Oh. So that was it. Then maybe this..." It stands up slowly. "Aha... So then..." The arms are raised. Up and down. Up and down. "Hm... Then...

It bends at the knees again and again. As if limbering up. "Okay, Then maybe this..." A step forward is taken. And then another... And another... And then it stops. "......." Silence.

Suddenly the Gear breaks out into a number of ridiculous looking dances, from a number of different cultures. It twirls, it hops, it gets down low, and then it's slowing down into a spin then ends in it laying on it's side, head resting against a palm, arm propped up by the floor.

"Yep, I think I can sort of move this."

.....Edna.

<Pose Tracker> Sorey has posed.

"Well, I mean if she wants to bring one along, I'm not sure we can... stop her..." Sorey states in a rather level, 'I can't actually believe this is happening' tone of voice. Both Rose and Edna are having a grand old time, and Sorey is - quite sensibly he thinks - standing way over by the door while they are making Gears dance, fall over, and take hesitant steps into the unknown.

Then Sorey has a thought, which may not improve matters. "Does it have a manual? I've also heard people talk about 'auto-pilot' or something like that before, could that help!?"!

<Pose Tracker> Rose has posed.

"Auto-pilot...?" Rose ponders, looking around her in the cockpit. There's just so many buttons and lights and consoles, and switches, and... hey there's a big red button that conveniently says auto-pilot. Rose pushes it.

Easy mode engaged.

Use the /_\, [ ] and >< keys for easy-input.

"Sorey all that did is make me look for more buttons I can't find!"
