  • Summary: A rogue teleportation can just ruin your whole day.

"No! I didn't ask for recall!" Malfi cried, before realizing the teleportation didn't feel like the Photosphere's. It was faster, the sense of dismemberment more pronounced, more disturbing. It sounded different, too.

She rematerialzed and staggered, not quite believing what her sensors were telling her.

This wasn't Filgaia.

In spite of the tundra around her, not so different from the terrain around the Photosphere.

This wasn't Filgaia.

The air, the gravity, were subtly different. There were too many trees.

In the sky Filgaia itself loomed, enormous, surely out of teleportation or radio range. She...had to be...on the moon!

Stranded.

She'd never believed those moon stories.

Until now.

She sat down on a nearby fallen tree to recover her wits. It took awhile. That was the first order of business, to rest and regenerate. The next, to seek out her kin. Her scanner would lead her to them if they were in range.

She activated it with trembling fingers. "Stop shaking. Stop shaking." Good thing no one was around to see that!

Animals.

Monsters.

Some dozen or so humans.

And there, a few scattered Hyadeans.

She'd seek them out, just as soon as she'd recuperated and assumed her human disguise. They had to find a way back to Filgaia.

They just had to. This place might be survivable...

...but it wasn't home.
