  • Summary: Fei, Elly, and Josie have a short little chat about events of late and the direction they're headed.

<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Sometimes you just gotta take a day off and enjoy being able to drink again. Of course, Fei has been having more difficulty getting really into it as of late. He was told he wouldn't find answers at the bottom of a bottle but thath asn't stopped him from drinking periodically. Sometimes the world is just too much and he'd like to take some of the edge off a little bit and besides, it's pretty hard to quit when your home base is literally a bar even if it's a secret bar.

He is taking his time nursing his drink, in fact, and is in his own thoughts. His sketchpad is open and near him, it's pages turned to a map of the Hunting Grounds that is still woefully incomplete.

Hammer still isn't back yet and now Fei is starting to worry. Meribia hasn't coughed up a lead yet and it's causing him to fear the worst.

At least it's quieter in this little hideaway.

<Pose Tracker> Josephine Lovelace has posed.

It's fairly quiet, here and now. A fire in the hearth, Argus busily cleaning a glass behind the bar and... not much else, honestly. It's very uniquely a private bar, the Wolfsbane, as odd as that is.
One vaguely wonders how Argus has kept his doors open, but perhaps former clergy have deep pockets.

Though, neither Fei nor Elly are entirely alone. Up in the, it lurks--
Or it might just be Penelope, idly snoozing. It's not particularly hygienic, maybe, but who's going to get her down from there?

But that might ask after the question of where the bird's minder has gotten off to.

Until the door opens and a certain figure comes in.

"Argus, the usual," Josie informs the bartender, leaning against the counter.

Once that's settled and glass in hand, she meanders over to where Fei's seated and without so much as a how-you-do, pulls back the seat and makes herself comfortable.

    "How's it going, junior?"

<Pose Tracker> Elhaym van Houten has posed.

Some times you want to go
Where almost no-one knows your name
Where they're neutral that you came

You wanna go where people know
Foreigners're all the same

You wanna go where almost no-one knows
Your name o/~

Elly had been having a bowl of soup. Early supper or late lunch? It was keeping her quiet, at least. Her attention goes towards Josie as she comes in and greets Fei, but she has a piece of tough yet flavorful meat in her mouth, stifling her this instant; she waves with the spoon, but does not otherwise interrupt.

<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei Fong Wong would probably have been a little more chatty with Elly there, but he is still in a quieter mood. He's trying to work something through his mind--likely involving the absence of Hammer--but it's Josie's return that finally makes him look up.

This might be because she called him Junior which has the instant effect of drawing Fei's attention at the expense of some mild feather ruffling.

"Oh hey Josie!" Fei says. "I'm a little worried about Hammer but until we find out more, not sure there's much I can do about it. Maybe we put too much on his plate at once."

He looks over to Elly for a moment, smiling at her, but it's brief. He's in the worry zone.

"But on the plus side, we managed to reunite Sephilia with her family. Got back a little late because they invited me to go hunting and I was hungry so..." Fei pauses. "How 'bout yourself?"

<Pose Tracker> Josephine Lovelace has posed.

She leans back in the seat she's claimed, rocking it back onto the hind legs for a moment as if considering the predicament of the lost cabybaran beastman. "Still missing, huh? And no one round here's seen 'im..."

The chair leans seemingly precariously for a moment before she readjusts her weight, shunting it back forward with a kachunk. "Well, I'm sure he's fine. He's a resourceful guy, you know? Still, I'll let you know if I hear anything. Deal?"

A deal that she, apparently, seals by taking a swig from her glass.

    "Me?"

Her gaze shifts off Fei for a moment, lingering on Elly who is, for the moment, eating soup.

"The usual. The usual," she answers, swirling the contents of her glass. "Seeing if anyone's heard about the ship. ...There's rumors in from the south about something landing in a forest, but I ain't heard much more. Guess we'd have to go nose around..."

<Pose Tracker> Elhaym van Houten has posed.

Elly had had some (general...) road stories for Fei earlier; this happened in a lull.

"Oh! That's good; that must be such a relief for her," Elly says, before adding with a tone of faint defeat, "Unless her family are horrible people from whom she sought escape, of course."

A pause.

Elly takes a sip from the side of the bowl, cautiously. "That, um," she says, "that probably isn't the Fereshte."

Awkward silence.

<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei also doesn't know about Avril's parents though as an aside. Real talk. Regardless, he says, "Deal." to Josie because it's a real simple deal to make. He's worried, and it's hardly any skin off his back. Josie says he's fine, and Fei is mlidly reassured. He tries to think of minor inconveniences that might have held the poor guy up. He tries not to think that maybe he got eaten by a sabretooth tiger.

Maybe the sabretooth tiger he kicked ate Hammer!?!?

But he does say, instead, "Nah, they're very nice. They gave me a dream journal," to Elly. He doesn't say what's in the dream journal, but that's probably a given. Dreams are private things! "They cooked dinner for everybody when we brought her back. She seemed so happy and I guess they're still letting her keep adventuring. I think it's in their blood."

He pauses. "So to speak. I mean." He glances over to Elly, pausing silently as the awkward silence begins awkwardly.

"Well I figure that no news is good news there. If we heard about it, it'd probably mean it was discovered and...well...who knows what folks would do to get their hands on an airship here."

<Pose Tracker> Josephine Lovelace has posed.

The tale of Sephilia earns from Josie a somewhat absent but still 'at least somewhat paying attention' nod as she downs a little of her drink.
"Well, that's good. If they told her she should stay home, I'd say she should leave anyway. Heh..."

After which her gaze alights on Fei for a moment. "Got some dreams you want to remember, junior?" A little knowingly her glance turns from him towards Elly, as if she were attempting to suggest something by the eyes alone.
There is, apparently, nothing she likes better than to meddle in other people's emotional lives.

'That probably isn't the Fereshte', says Elly, which earns the younger girl a long and almost analytic gaze from the archaeologist.
Ever so slightly, the corner of her mouth tilts upwards in a lopsided grin.

    "Probably not, huh?"

This isn't an awkward pause. It's a calculated pause.

"Go on. I was a little out of it after what happened at Wayside, you know..."

But it's still not the Fereshte, a thought that prompts her to frown -- slightly -- and take another mouthful.

"Guess it's gonna be a long haul for me, huh..."

<Pose Tracker> Elhaym van Houten has posed.

"Oh - a what?" Elly asks, about dream journals.

Then she exhales.

"It's the Tzadkiel," she says. "You've probably seen it. The Gebler ship. They're stranded. They... don't really know I'm here. As best as I can tell they're hoping to try to leave," Elly says, turning her eyes down to her lap. "If you have questions, I'll do my best to answer them."

She sips up the last of the soup.

"However," Elly continues, "It's not impossible that there are two ships that crashed in forests. The forests here seem enormous; I was surprised we weren't attacked by dinosaurs, just coming and going here, Fei."

<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei says, "Well, I don't know if I want to remember them, but they said it might help me with my nightmares." He nods once to Josie before adding, "But I guess that too. I have trouble remembering my dreams, actually, so I've taken to writing down what I could when I remember anything immediately. Nothing, uh, too weird so far."

Fei is conflicted about Lunar and whether to even leave it but he does admit, "I don't blame them. This far out without any support. Hell, without knowing whether they can get back..." He pauses and adds, "But uh. I did run into Loren earlier. He seemed ... the usual." Another pause. "Anyway, uh, maybe it's just me but I always feel like the other shoe is about to drop here ... on Filgaia it's usually just raining shoes I guess, heh."
r
He looks back over to Josephine and shrugs a little and adds, "Sorry." to her. He is quiet for a moment before adding, "Hey speaking of stuff I sort of--have been remembering." He gestures forward with one hand. "You figure out what those tiles are for yet? From Ash Hare and the like?"

He looks back to Elly and adds, "...Yeah, though I did see a giant squid, I think. And uh. A sabretooth tiger."

<Pose Tracker> Josephine Lovelace has posed.

"Well, keep at it. Who knows, maybe it might help? And if it doesn't, well..." She gestures for the fireplace. "Just chuck the whole thing in there. Guarantee you you'll feel better after that."

She smiles as she makes the suggestion. Disarmingly.

"...So that's your deal, Red. Heh. Well, far be it from me to get involved in someone else's problems."

This, to anyone who has spent about twenty minutes in Josephine Lovelace's presence, is at least halfway a bald-faced lie.

To wit: "Double agent? It's a tough row to hoe, or so I hear..." Her lips part in a grin. "Try not to stretch yourself too thin, Red. I daresay your boy might not like it much."

She seems to muse over the rest of it a bit. "...The Tzadkiel, though? --Oh, right, that thing. I heard about it -- I was busy warming a cot at the time, you know. After all that mess in Wayside." She waves a hand, dismissively. "So Gebler's gotten all mixed up in this too, eh. Well, two 'giant flying birds' is going to confuse results some, I think. Oh well."

She settles back bonelessly in her seat.

"The tiles?" Shakes her head, pale locks briefly aflutter. "Nope. Don't have 'em on me now, right? That's what I was looking for the ship for. All I know is that they're the real thing -- Zeboim era. Maybe if I can find another one like 'em I can start piecing it together, but it's all questions and not much answers."

Her gaze hoods. "Funny thing, honestly. Went all the way across the country to talk to someone who can read the damn things, and then I bump into a girl who can read 'em just like that..."

As if in some vague purposeless irritation, she slings back another mouthful.

"Well, count your blessings, right? I've got a chance of making this find one for the ages yet."

<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei looks to the fireplace. And then he laughs. "Hey, good point. I'll have to keep that idea on the table." Honestly he even thought of doing that before but held off because it was a gift from a dear friend's parents. It felt wrong to set flame to it...but he looks towards the fireplace again, staring at it. If it makes him feel better...it's okay, isn't it?

He blinks a few times and rubs at his eyes with his wrist. He is faintly relieved that Josie seems to understand 'Red's' predicament at least. He smiles faintly.

FEI REP UP

"Huh... so they're back on the Yggdrasil?" Fei mulls. "...I haven't seen or heard of Bart yet, so I wonder if it even made it." He shakes his head slowly.

"Lily." Fei murmurs as Josie explains how she ran into her. Or at least, that's how Fei reads it. "...I think one of my..." He pauses and shakes his head. "..I should talk to her first about it. Just gotta catch her."

He turns around and adds, "But be careful, alright? Sometimes something from there is a good thing to have, other times...it feels like a curse. Least that's been my experience so far with these ruins, and doubly so from anything from that era."
