  • Summary: In a cave deep within a mountainous region of Western Ignas, the golem Nimue waits.

Deep within a mountainous region in western Ignas, there was a cave. The locals did not go near it. Mechanical soliders kept a constant vigil, deterring any who try to approach unbidden. Located deep within was a large capsule of sleek black metal, and located deep within that...

...was the Golem, Nimue, curled into a compact state with its long arms wrapped around it.

The fight outside the Mountain Palace had inflicted great damage upon it. It had long since recovered from these injuries...but its master was nowhere to be seen. Without Ambrosius to free it, it could not leave the capsule.

And so, it waited - consigned to long sleep.

Did the Golem think? Could a Golem be said to dream?

Indeed, Nimue appeared to possess a sort of autonomy... It made the decision to retreat in that battle at the Mountain Palace, in order to protect its fallen master. Perhaps it could, then, be said to think.

But if so...what thoughts must have been running through its head? What dreams were there to Nimue, sealed quietly away?

Worry?

Concern?

Animosity?

It had no expressions to betray any of these thoughts, if it possessed them. It could do nothing but wait.

But one day...something changed.

Framed at the mouth of the cave was a tall man in a ragged grey cloak. The mechanical soldiers did not stop him. They did not follow him as he approached the capsule and interacted with the console at its base.

Slowly, the capsule opened. Slowly, the darkened eyes of the Golem began to glow, as they turned on him.

The man stepped back, as one of the massive arms of Nimue unwrapped itself, descended...and stopped, just short.

The man laid a gentle hand on the side of one of its great claws.

"I have returned." Ambrosius stated.

The glow of Nimue's eyes dimmed, just slightly. Perhaps this, then...

...was contentment.
