  • Summary: The little Dragon Unit struggles, after waking from a very long dream...

Once, there was a girl who had been sleeping for a very, very long time. And recently, she just awoke from a deep and unpleasant dream.

"Why?" begs the little Hyadean seated on the chair, as she lifts her head up towards the frozen corpse standing before her. The frozen ankh of the Fereshte looms behind her, as always.

It was a centuries-long dream where she convinced herself that she was responsible for the death of her sister.

However, when the girl had passed through the border of dreams, she found that the reality was much more unkind.

"Why did you have to die, Nasrin?" questions the little Hyadean, sounding more distressed by the moment.

The frozen corpse in front of her quietly stands, head lowered. The gleam of her eye can be seen underneath her ice-slicked fringes.

She had used memories to protect herself. Memories of her sister. Facets of her sister that had become hers. The seeker of the new world that had gone and truly flourished. Because there was precious little else for her. Perhaps the answer to 'why' truly has been lost to time.

"Why..." the little Hyadean uselessly repeats, head hanging as her palms press to her knees. She starts to sob, though no eyes exist for her to cry from.

And at that time of awakening, the mask she had worn in sleep had so gently washed away. Exposed for the dream that it always was.

Fantastic, and heartfelt, but nothing more than just a dream.

"I'm sorry," answers the corpse. "I don't know the answer to that question. Because..."

The little Dragon Unit lifts her head up again. A portion of her robes are stained with her tears. An impossibility.

"Because I'm just a memory. A memory you created to punish yourself with."

She begins to tremble, as the corpse steps forward and lays a blood-caked hand on her shoulder.

"You have a more important question to answer."

The little Unit lets out a little mewling noise, fearful and small. She raises a hand to her head... where there is, still, a lack of a face.

"Now that you have crossed between the borders of dreams and reality..."

Within that gaping void where there would be a face...

"Who are you now -- really?"
