  • Summary: Riesenlied and Noeline meet Lily in the new ship's mess hall.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied has been taking care of the Wolves' injuries in the last couple of hours; she still seems to feel bad for not being there during the initial chase, but... well, as anyone would've told her, it's probably for the better given her usual state. She could've adopted her Dragon form, but the risks would probably not have been worth it.

Still, the Karlsefni seems to have put her in a better mood -- she's happy for the Wolves to get their own space, and she's been wandering around a little to explore it... on foot!

The mobility device the Sielje scholars is on her scaled legs at the moment; it thrums a little with the power the Crest Caps are exuding quietly. She stops to sit down at a mess hall and--

ah

achoo!

--oh dear... Sielje is still quite cold for her, it seems. She's bundled up rather tightly in her Fereshte garments, but... well, the cold has always had a way of creeping up on her. And she's an Elru native...!

<Pose Tracker> Noeline has posed.

"Somehow, I don't think they've found the heating on this ship yet," notes a familiar voice as a blanket settles around Riesenleid's shoulders. But then, it's not like Noeline has to particularly announce her presence out loud, not when she has a mental link to Riese over which to more quietly indicate her presence.

She stays where she is afterwards, her hands on her partner's shoulders as they share space; she pairs it with a glance around the mess hall, her eyebrows going up thoughtfully. "It might be just a little big for how many Wolves are aboard, honestly. Not that I'm complaining, but I suppose after the Fereshte I've gotten used to small and comfortable."

She glances towards the braces, just to make sure - she can't help but be a little twitchy about them, checking they're still functioning correctly to the best of her knowledge. Which isn't all that extensive where these are concerned, but at least the thrum doesn't sound bad.

<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

Lily's injuries, such as they are, have already closed up; this is for the best, because she has /not/ yet stopped for little things like 'having wounds'. Lily would in fact say it's for the best, but not because she couldn't have helped--but because having fresh reinforcements at the second leg was more valuable a use of their personnel.

But she'd say it kind of nicely, because it's Riesenlied.

Just now, however--

Still in the sturdy clothes she used while piloting her Gear--though the jacket is off now, the look somewhat more casual--Lily Keil is responsible for the footsteps from another entrance, as she looks up to the other two. "That's true," Lily admits, standing in bare arms dressed more for mechanical work than for anything else. "It didn't occur to me about the heat--But of course, that wouldn't do much for how cold it /was/ out there. The blanket's better for that."

Lily sets down a bag which falls open, spilling out a few dubious packed rations.

"Riesenlied, Noeline," she finally greets. "So I haven't gotten to comment yet--you're walking again? I can sense magic in the braces."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

"Ehe... well, it fits the 'cool' image of the Wolves, right?" Riesenlied sniffles as she huddles around the blanket and nestles rather warmly into her partner's arms.

"And maybe, but... that just means there's room to grow," Riesenlied smiles. "The Fereshte is kind of cozy, with how many people have cut up the space for their own needs. It's the trademark for how well the Tainted can use spaces..."

The braces are straining a little -- but it's expected; it's providing tensile strength, after all. There's a time limit to how long it can be used at one time, especially when it's channeling some Ley energy.

Lily steps in, and Riesenlied's red eyes track her as she smiles and waves. She looks towards the bag full of rations. It's food she traditionally associates with Leon and Lily, that's for sure.

"You're tough to not be cold with bare arms like that," she smiles fondly. "But I always knew that about you. And... yes,"

She gestures down.

"A few weeks ago we finally met someone I only knew through letters for decades -- like Mama Shibe. Former instructor Astarte from Sielje, who suggested that she could help me with mobility. Her students were really excited to work on a project like this."

<Pose Tracker> Noeline has posed.

Noeline tilts her head towards Lily when the latter appears, nodding in greeting because the rest of her is a bit busy hugging onto Riesenlied. She snorts a little at the fact the Wolves member has yet to so much as change, let alone significantly dress her wounds - but by now she's experienced enough to know that's just how Lily works.

"To be honest, I've never quite figured out why Riesenlied is so affected by temperature and I'm not," she notes with the sort of tone of voice that promises teasing in the future, her grin already trending towards toothy. "But I can certainly say I've gotten used to warmer quarters. We could always heat up some of those--"

Some of those. Noeline looks at the rations as they spread from the bag, and though she doesn't say anything her face does theatrically fall just a little. "... honestly... you need a proper cook on board, or something," she grumbles good-naturedly.

"It's been very pleasant, retracing my steps around the region. And given that what I've gotten out of it are some old friends and Riesenlied her legs back, I think we can call the trip an absolute success," she puffs gently, squeezing her partner's shoulder a little in comfort and support.

<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

The Tainted can use spaces well--but Lily's style maybe uses some of that extra space... She tends to appreciate having it--having distance available. She looks to both, and then--"I just cheat," Lily admits, opening her palm and conjuring a fireball, the flames of which briefly dance upward merrily before she closes her fist and it disappears with the motion. "I used to think it was just being tough, though." She looks over Riesenlied then at Noeline's assessment, hmms once. But then she laughs before speculating as Noeline gives that theatrical fall of the face.

"We do have a very good cook on board," Lily says, "But she's been busy being treated for injuries. Don't worry, for the sake of the others I don't plan to have us stick to rations indefinitely." Then she moves over to the others for the moment. "Though I think these have a certain charm."

"Meeting an old friend--that's good on its own. So if these are from Sielje..." She looks them over, "Not covered in Symbols, so they most be Crest Sorcery," she remarks, and then, "It seems to me that it was a success, too."

"It's good to see you more mobile, Riesenlied. It seems to be doing you good."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

"You're just that tough. My chevalier," Riesenlied leans and pre-empts her for the teasing, which might just invite a more fierce counter-tease in the future! She squeezes her hands and says, "But I think that happens with human couples too. There's someone who's perpetually cold and another to leech all the warmth from," as she gloms.

Lily's remark of it doing her good is on point -- her mood seems to have improved quite highly.

"At first, the students suggested a Symbology device," Riesenlied shares with Lily as she stretches her legs forward to better show them. "But when I explained my connection with the Ley, instructor Astarte suggested a Crest Cap device, because Crest Sorcery also channels the Ley."

She tilts her head softly and says, "It takes... a lot of effort to walk in -- I wear out pretty easily, so I still need the wheelchair sometimes. But it's better to explore my options and try things out, than let my disability take over my mood."

There's a bigger smile as she adds, since Lunata's a bit incapacitated, "And you know I'd love to cook for all of you too, if you get bored of rations. I've gotten pretty good at cooking family-style over the last few years, you know."

<Pose Tracker> Noeline has posed.

Noeline's look towards Lily is one of patience and amusement and not a little exasperation. "Miss Croze, that's true. Honestly, I feel a little bad for her. She has come a terribly long way from home, in every sense of the phrase." The eyebrow she raises when Lily says MREs have a certain sort of charm is the look of someone with a healthy sort of skepticism, but then again the Photosphere's army used to think flavour was something that happened to other people.

She puffs a little bashfully towards Riesenlied, then lets out a chuckle as she draws a little closer in response to the familiar title. "I've heard the same. Though as far as I could ever tell, complaining about stealing the blankets is nigh-universal," she notes with an amused laugh.

She takes another look at the braces, studying them for a moment. "... it is definitely times like this I wish I had a rather more-- formal education into Crest Sorcery," she admits. "I might be able to help power them by sheer force, but I wouldn't know where to begin in fine tuning them if they needed it." But she lets it go, and folds into a smile.

"I think that would be a good idea," she notes to Riese, and not just to save everyone from rations. "... at least, we've been so preoccupied with finding this ship that we haven't yet celebrated having it. A bit of a housewarming wouldn't go amiss, I dare say."

<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

"I've been generating heat for a long time," Lily quips. And then, well, "She's in a rough spot, that's true." Lily stands by her ridiculous statement, however, about this pre-ready food.

She doesn't laugh along, but it's close; she makes what is the ghost of one with a smile before she focuses again on Riesenlied for the moment, looking down to Riesenlied's legs and the braces. "That... makes a lot of sense," Lily answers in slight surprise at the theory. "That makes sense," she says of it taking energy. "I agree with you, though. There's something of power in doing what you can."

Formal education... "Mm, it would be useful to have. But at least you know Jay; I'm sure she can help if it's necessary. Not that I'm volunteering her... I just assume she would, frankly. More likely has." Pause. "But if raw power's an issue, I can probably do that, too."

"I certainly wouldn't complain," Lily answers about this cooking. "I think it'd be nice. ...And that's a good point. Don't expect us to be the ones to thinking of stopping to celebrate. Maybe once we're finished getting everything in order and can get some supplies..."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied does look a bit contrite about the waitress from Adlehyde, even if she mysteriously has never directly met her -- always the other Lunie with her! Why is that?

"Muni-Muni's still looking out for Lunata downstairs. We could do a supply run for goods, since you'd mentioned being worried about being too conspicuous," Riesenlied suggests. She thinks of some of the MREs she's had back in the Photosphere and just looks at Noeline's eyebrow-raise, as if knowing.

"I do /not/ steal the blanket... that often," Riesenlied pouts. "And you like the way I turn into an absolute cucco in the morning when I do."

Noeline's lament gets her expression a bit more thoughtful. "To be honest, I think you're doing enough by studying the device... the Crest Cap just needs recharging once in a while, from Jacqueline or Eleanor. But Astarte said mechanical failure is probably more likely, from physical stress."

There is a smile at Lily, as well. "It's like when I started physical therapy with you in Wayside, long ago... every little bit helps chip away at the problem." A pause, as she laughs softly to say, "Maybe that is my role in the Wolves! Helping you stop to take stock and celebrate and enjoy yourselves..."

<Pose Tracker> Noeline has posed.

With a chuckle, Noeline puts up her hand. "I realize I can't do everything. I suppose it's just become a habit to worry over Riesenlied, and to want to help her, for-- well, rather obvious reasons," she chuckles, obviously in good spirits over it. "It's really just come down to how I've learnt, and the way in which my sorcery provides. I imagine I probably wouldn't be able to do a lot with Crests even if I learnt how they work."

She punctuates her comment with another tender touch at Riese's arm, humming as she closes her eyes. "We really owe a great many people for their assistance, even if very few of them actually insist on keeping count. ... but I am not letting that friend of Lunata's anywhere near your feet for the next couple of months at least," she adds, grumping a little over it.

"You do not," she adds diplomatically to Riesenlied - though she certainly makes no comment towards cucco-ness either way, beyond her grin tugging a little wider. Instead, she nods to Lily. "We've dealt with the realities of living on the move like this ourselves. I know it must be overwhelming to have something like this dropped in your lap, but there's always time to take stock."

<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

"I get it," Lily say simply. Obvious reasons; obvious to her, too. "So I'm the last one to say something against you for it."

Hmmm. Both Lunies... "That seems fair," Lily admits with a laugh. "But I think she'll understand." Still looking out for her, and a supply run... "Yes, that's a good thought. We may as well travel with you out of the colder region, anyway. Out here isn't the best place long-term for a ship."

Even one that holds up this well... No sense in mistreating it.

LIly, obviously, doesn't keep count. "Yes, that seems possible. /Mechanical/ failure I can help you with. I've been... brushing up, we'll say, and I wasn't a bad mechanic for basic things before."

She smiles after a moment, though. "I'm glad that you look at it that way. And that it's helped. But that's one of your roles. You also remind us that there's something outside the fight worth keeping. Remember that."

She looks to Noeline then, "Yes, you'd know it even better than we would, I'm sure. Especially now. But, if you believe it--I don't feel overwhelmed by the /ship/ at all. I feel... Energized. Like I've finally found more of a clue. I know more or less where to go, what to do... It feels right."

"...Now, wondering what I would have done building a bunch of ships or bases around the world, that's a little more concerning. But one thing at a time, I guess."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

"Oh, surely Shalune isn't that bad?" Riesenlied laughs rather warmly. "I mean, I told her to stave off her curiosity with Wayside's water purifier and I'm pretty sure she came close to wanting to dismantle it but I'm proud that she didn't."

She might not be aware at how much effort it took...

She does nestle in a bit closer still, because a Noeline that's grumbling protectively over her is always appealing. But she does listen earnestly with Lily as she nods, saying, "I know I have those hangups sometimes, over not being able to lend strength to the fight... but I know that's not all there is."

She sucks in a deeper breath, psyching herself up gently.

"Do you have a dock in mind? I'd say the Thames, but it might not be suitable - it's large and noticeable..."

<Pose Tracker> Noeline has posed.

Noeline nods at Lily's offer to ferry them out - but that does make her pause, and then glance towards Riesenlied as she asks the question. "That's a good point. Where was next, on our tour of Aquvy? I feel like we've touched on a fair majority of places so far, though we could always go back to Klein for a while. I haven't really begun to look around everything that's there. On the other hand, I suppose Kattleox was also tempting."

She hums as Lily mentions she feels right about the ship, her eyebrows jogging upwards. "I'm glad to hear that - just be careful you don't get too carried away with that impulse," she adds at right about the same time Lily comes to the same sort of conclusions. "Not that I think you will. You seem to have done a good job staying grounded."

She only gives Riesenlied a rather glum look at the mention of the water purifier. "You have no idea how worried I was in the early days of Wayside," she sighs, touching at her forehead. "Every terrifying clonk of metal on metal..."

<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

"Better not to give her the temptation. She has enough stress at the moment." Lily thinks about Lunata.

The two subjects may be related.

"Good. It's understandable to have them--but I'm glad, that you remember." Then, to Riesenlied and Noeline both, Lily shakes her head. "I don't. I'm going to leave the course to Leon for the moment. There's some things I want to have more look at, and... Well, I have some questions I need to experiment to answer."

"I didn't realize that trick with my Gear was going to work until it /did/."

She nods seriously to Noeline. "Fei's experience helps me to keep it in mind. ...But really, it's having everyone around, you both included. Connections to /this/ world give me a firm ground to stand on to... explore the old, I guess."

Lily laughs, then. "You'll get more of that, for now." And to Riesenlied, she actually just watches for a few extra moments. "...If you want to take a break, relax some while you're here, that's fine, you know. I'll find the heat controls for you when I get back to the consoles, for sure."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

"We never got to explore Kattelox all that much, outside of the cucco delivery," Riesenlied offers to Noeline in turn. Then, as she flits her glance back to Lily, "And... I heard the Ruins there are very well-explored. If I'm going to train myself with the mobility aid, maybe a more controlled Ruin might be suitable? It'd be fun to explore again with you..."

Well, not that they haven't, but... perhaps not in the ways of old like they used to.

Riesenlied does chuckle a bit at Noeline's lament, though. "... well, it was a bit worrisome, but it somehow worked out in the end. Wayside has a way of doing that."

She looks to Lily again with a big smile. "It goes both ways, you know. You and Leon helped ground me back then as well. And..." She hums at that offer, looking up at Noeline.

"Should we pick a room out, maybe? I think there was one that seemed suitable for a couple down there... and the heat controls would be nice."
