THROUGH THE MEMORY CUBE: 'MOM! I WANT YOU TRY OUT THIS NEW MODE OF CONVEYANCE THAT MAY BE THE FUTURE OF MOBILITY FOR YOU. MEET YOU OUTSIDE MERIA! <3'

Lydia can't exactly do long distance flights but she was able to drag this thing onto a boat which she then hitched over towards Klein at which point she hover-flew it to outside Meria City where she'll wait for Riesenlied to make her appearance!

Now what is it you might ask that Lydia had found? Well, that's simple! Lydia has found... A MONOWHEEL!

She sets the monowheel down. It's...a giant wheel that you kind of sit in and thn...it rolls around. If nothing else, IT IS INDEED very round.

Lydia hangs out, wings unfurled, and looking very proud of herself.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied is doing something incredibly cute right before Lydia pops on down.

She has a small pack of colourful chalk she borrowed from some children and has drawn... a hopscotch game board for herself! "One, two, three-four...!" She seems so overjoyed to just be able to do something so simple, with the mobility brace powering her.

But then Lydia lands! She's curious what mode of conveyance Lydia has found, and--

Her mouth opens in surprise! "W-wah... Lydia, what is that?? It's..."

"It's round!"

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

"Hm hm hm...You seem to have a KEEN EYE and a SHARP MIND, mom! For you see..."

She spreads her arms wide. "This modern method of conveyance is INDEED round! To the naked eye, perfectly so!"

She looks towards the hop skotch board Riesenlied has made for herself and had briefly observed her hopping along and she throws out a thumbs up. "You're well on the move, mom! Soon you will be doing backflips like all the time!"

She's trying to be supportive?! Regardless, she bobs her head a couple times and adds, "So um..." She trails off for a moment. "Do you want to try riding it?? I tested it out with Ivan and we only fell out once."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied lets a little giggle as she pulls up her miko-style sleeves to her face. "Really? I hope so. I think I'm getting better, even if the strain can be a bit much sometimes."

She smiles just for a moment and tilts her head. "Oh, can I really? Well, I can throw up a barrier in case we fall, so we don't get hurt..."

She steps just a bit closer, still limping with her walk. But first, she gives her daughter a hug, because there's a contractual obligation of one mom-daughter hug a day, at minimum.

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

"Of course! You can even have two people riding simultaneously! Do you want to be in the back first or should I? You kind of have to lean a bit to get it to turn--but I figured maybe the desert would be too hot for you? So maybe we can take it slow at first!"

She gives Riesenlied a hug. She is happy to give Riesenlied a hug. Indeed, Riesenlied may notice that Lydia lingers in the hug a bit longer than normal, tightening her arms just a bit at the end to give a little extra push of hug power at the end.

"I love you," Lydia says, out of the blue, but maybe that's also a contractual obligation. "Thinking about you, Ivan, everyone... Makes me feel like I can conquer anything."

She pulls back. "Like this giant wheel!"

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

"O-oh... well, I will let you ride first, since I do not know how to use it..." Riesenlied sounds tempted, but refrains since she shouldn't be doing anything too strenuous.

... she is tempted, though.

She smiles just a bit as she notices that lingering moment, stroking the back of her daughter's hair. "I love you too," she reassures her, as she's happy to anytime. "And I'm so happy you have someone in your life you can trust with your heart."

She slowly climbs up and stabilises herself on the back seat. "Like this...?"

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

"We can be in the round together," Lydia says, sliding into the driver seat. "Eheheh... driving mom, yessss...." Was this one of those gifts that was like a gift for Riese, sure, but also kind of a gift for Lydia?

Maybe. She'll never admit it!

She pauses, looking back towards Riesenlied who is stabilized in the back seat. "Yeah! Just like that! I'll go slowly at first, okay?"

'Slowly' for Lydia is still pretty quick and there's a fair amount of bouncing as she rolls along the street. She doesn't quite move on to turns yet.

"Hahahaha... I wonder if this would be called a chairwheel heh heh heh..."

She doesn't comment on Ivan again but judging by the faint silver blush she's still thinking about him.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied giggles brightly as she holds onto Lydia's shoulders, brushing against her wings and being gentle for a moment. "... I miss having wings," she admits in a quiet moment of unguardedness. "Being able to fly around and feel the winds rush by..."

A pause, as she smiles warmer and lets it go as they start to roll. "Oh! It's a bit bouncy, but... it's nice. It kind of reminds me of riding on Muni-Muni."

She giggles brightly and says, "Chairwheel... like the opposite of a wheelchair. I like it!"

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

Lydia tends to pull her wings back in when not in flight mode but Riesenlied can still feel them it's just they aren't obscuring her vision and well--obviously they aren't flaring out that rainbow energy because then we'd have a whole different problem on our hands.

She quiets down a bit, and slows down a bit when Riesenlied speaks of what she misses. Lydia has to push away feelings of being a parasite which she largely does by conciously reminding herself that Riesenlied isn't that kind of person to see her that way and she shouldn't see herself that way either.

But even so she says, "Maybe later, I can take you into the air?" Lydia asks. "You were probably way more maneuverable than I am but--it could be fun?"

She does a gradual turn through the neighborhood. Part of the benefit of going slower means Lydia doesn't crash into anybody! Which, well, Lydia can be a bit of a launchpad sometimes.

"What was it like for you, flying?" Lydia asks.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

"Oh, I do not think so... my wings were kind of heavy," Riesenlied admits. "Even before they decayed and eventually broke off. But... even with just what I had--"

A pause, as she smiles as she waves towards some people she recognises in Meria Boule, bashfully. She will remind herself to apologise later for any scares.

"But I enjoyed it. On Muni or the other Dragons, in Lily's Gear... with my own wings..." Riesenlied breathes softly. "Um. Well."

She admits a bit bashfully, "I think some people back in the Photosphere are surprised that I enjoy flying fast. I suppose I do not really come across that way."

Riesenlied... a Drifter in more than one way.

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

Lydia says, "Eheh. It doesn't surprise me. You had an airship built after all, and that's real fast. Not to mention, yeah, Muni." She hopes for a moment that Janey and Mikaia are okay but they are tough girls but part of her is glad they aren't here to worry about her situation. For a little while longer, they can see her as--well--reliable family she supposes.

"I like going fast too." Lydia says. "So I guess that's another way I take after you."

If she thinks of it like that, then it doesn't really feel painful anymore.

"But I guess that means I'm boring you with all this slowness so I better put the pedal to the medal!"

The ROUND tire screeches as Lydia slams on the pedal and suddenly the monowheel is moving doubletime across the streets, bouncing around and weaving between crowds as Lydia giggles manically.

"Is this close to flying eheheheh... Low flying maybe?"

She grins bigly, sharp teeth bared.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

SPIRA

"Listen to my story," whispers Janey as she stands forlornly over a bonfire upon which several weapons are rested on the ground.

"This... may be our last chance--"

"Janey are you there," Mikaia asks, as the mouse beastgirl screams and dumps the papers into the bonfire.

A pause.

"Are you writing fan fiction again," Mikaia flatly asks.

HERE

There's a laugh from Riesenlied as she squeezes further, her hair whipping behind her as she trusts her daughter to do the right thing and not crash or do anything terrible.

Which, y'know, she did admit Ivan and her fell out once, but that's okay. She fell out of her Dragon too one time.

Now she IS the Dragon.

"It's fine!" she reassures. "But... hehe, I love having things in common with you too. And... mmm." She nods. "It's fun in a different way... the way the tire resists the ground, and the way the machine balances..."

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

Lydia is surprisingly adept at guiding the monowheel. She plays it close--perhaps by neccessity simply due to the velocity. She laughs happily, finding Riesenlied's own to be rather infectious. Despite going fast and also avoiding disrupting the civilians (too much), Lydia appears to be carefree like she isn't too focused on it. She's always been a daredevil, relying on her instincts and agility to avoid trouble.

The tire bounces around a little upon another turn.

"Do you feel like youo've become one with the roundness? Riesenlied, the knight in the round! Eheheh..."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied nods a few times, expressing, "The knight in the round...! That sounds like a fun title, if I was not already the Heritor... hehe." A pause, as she holds on a little bit tighter, though for someone with a physical condition like her... she seems to be remarkably steady and not getting nauseous.

"I have been getting myself ready to..." A pause. "To learn how to fight again, recently. The leg braces... and practicing fending for myself."

She squeezes tighter to her daughter, as if giving her a hug from behind. "Not because I do not believe in pacifism anymore, but because... there is a time when I have to fight, to protect someone, to defend something I hold dear."

She smiles just a bit wider. "Like you, my daughter."

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

Lydia is rather shocked to hear that Riesenlied is following HER lead in returning to fighting. It makes Lydia think all of her worrying that she couldn't measure up to Riesenlied--well, maybe she didn't understand her as much as she thought. Or maybe she evolved herself.

Evolution need not be the transformation of the body. It can be as simple as the transformation of an idea.

Lydia naturally can't hold Riesenlied back like this but she enjoys it, the feel of someone holding onto her, the sensation of being in motion together. Of a kind of faith. It's part of the appeal of the monowheel for her and she doesn't mind taking either spot. Indeed, she starts to slow down here.

"I'm... I've always been proud of you." Lydia says. "You're not afraid to change, but you change on your terms. You believe so strongly that it pushes others. I really admire that."

She looks back. "But is this your way of telling me you're ready to give it a try?"

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied is quiet for a bit more, as she enjoys the ride and the feel of the monowheel. Then, Lydia shares her response, and the smile on her face grows a little as she, too, in turn, feels proud of that.

"I couldn't change without inspiring people around me," she answers. "Thank you, Lydia, for... being you!"

A pause, though, as she sounds a bit confused. "Oh? Er, giving... what a try?"

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Upon clarification that it's about driving:

Riesenlied lowers her head. "I would be honored."

EUROBEAT INTENSIFIES

An elderly Meria Boule villager lifts his head up from where he is lifting a bucket of tofu outside. He hears the sweet siren call of tires burning from afar, its song speaking of the twist 'round the road.

"A new Drifting legend... is born..." he whispers.
