  • Log: Come in for Tea
  • Cast: Riesenlied, Noeline, Harken
  • Where: Fereshte
  • Date: December 10th 2020
  • Summary: Riesenlied and Noeline spend some time on the Fereshte deck, when an unexpected figure appears...!

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied doesn't have the best of eyesights nor the best capability to pick things out, there is at least that; it's probably only going to be a matter of time before she gets impatient and tries to empath-sense them out, which might end up in the little birds all flocking to her.

"Mmm... it is just hard to spot them..." she mumbles.

The Hyadean herself is in one of her Fereshte-style outfits, complete with detached sleeves and capelet. She's extremely cold today despite it being a fairly temperate day in the Calm Lands, but Mt. Gagazet is never too far away.

A pause, as someone speaks up. "Oh, Harken, please, help me with this--"

Riesenlied turns at the same time Noeline does, horns wiggling upwards. "Eh? Eh?!"

Pan out shot.

"Ehhhhhhhh?!?!?!"

<Pose Tracker> Harken has posed.

Well. It's Harken. Wearing a green and grey robe on permanent loan from someone in Spira, she almost looks like she could fit in. She holds a walking stick in one hand and has a pair of extremely radical sunglasses. Maybe the Al Bhed are to blame.

Two confused reaction shots later, and a spray of birds flapping into the sky, Harken squints and removes a finger from her ear.

"So much for the tranquility of the so-called Calm Lands." she sighs theatrically, clearly not even a little upset.

<Pose Tracker> Noeline has posed.

Noeline is faster to recover, huffing in a way she would have been much too terrified to at some point in the past. "Yes, /well/," she grumbles. "We could have a long and spirited argument on who broke that tranquility first, or we could just--"

Her mind drops back a few steps as she replays the brief snatch of conversation, and it finally dawns on her that someone else on the Fereshte asked Harken for some help, just like that. After a moment her mouth hinges back shut, and she carefully lowers the binoculars from where Riesenlied has frozen in place.

"It's, ah..." 'good to see you' sounds entirely too pedestrian for saying hello to Harken. She chews on it for a moment before trying: "... I hope you are well." oh god did Janey just rock up to her and go 'hey sup harkster', Noeline would put money on it.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Following on the previous anecdote of Riesenlied being instinct-based (and also clumsy), this revelation is so surprising to her that she immediately tries to lift herself out of her wheelchair and

Ends up either tripping bum over teakettle or probably being caught by one of Noeline or Harken or both, this being a very predictable end.

"H-Harken, I have not seen you in so long...?! Yes, are you well-- does anything-- do you need anything?" She might want to take a deep breath of air at some point.

<Pose Tracker> Harken has posed.

Noeline sends her well-wishes, and the towering one rubs her chin for a moment in thought. How to answer it? "Well. I wander aimlessly, and nobody knows me despite my lack of a disguise. I say 'Sin's Toxin' whenever I make a faux-pas, and nobody seems to mind. I thump the occasional fool cutpurse or zealot on occasion."

Harken speaks her peice, eyes closed, looking very thoughtful. Poor Riese rises from her wheelchair a bit too fast, and soon goes for a tumble as her dress gets caught on nothing at all, and...

... the very relaxed-sounding swordswoman effortlessly appears at Riesenlied's side, to deliver her into Noeline's catch. It's not so flashy as a teleport or anything, she's just suddenly there.

"It's very liberating. I don't need anything." she confirms.

<Pose Tracker> Noeline has posed.

Perhaps Noeline should have expected Riesenlied to bolt out of her wheelchair, but she's still taken by surprise. Whatever she was about to say, it dies in her throat only to be replaced by a wordless exclamation, and then she's barreling the wheelchair forwards after her partner, only releasing a breath of relief when Harken delivers Riesenlied back into her arms.

She blinks, taken aback in a muted sort of way as she digests the former Quarter Knight's words. For a moment, Noeline nearly says something light in retort, but thinks better of it, mulling over her response as she helps tuck the other Hyadean back in the wheelchair. It takes a glance at Harken's expression to decide for sure, at which point she nods with quiet satisfaction. "I'm glad to hear it."

It's said with genuine relish and an assured smile, the look of someone who's been through that feeling before.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Harken explains what she has been up to, and Riesenlied suddenly finds herself in Harken's arms, then returned to Noeline's side as she settles herself back on her chair, flustered and a little frazzled. She's much more Dragon on her legs than when the ex-Quarter Knight last saw her, which speaks a lot to how difficult it is for her to manuever.

"I am full glad to see you again... I had feared the worst when the Photosphere lifted and crashed into icy waters," Riesenlied murmurs.

There is a long breath up as she looks to Noeline and reaches for her hands, taking a moment to catch her breath. "We have been rather through a lot... but we are ever looking forward, I would say."

<Pose Tracker> Harken has posed.

A calm breath fills Harken's lungs, finding pause there as she lingers on her answer. How quaint: to have been Humanity's hidden blade, planted amidst the enemy. Even if it was all by accident.

"Oh, I fled that place safely after Mother fell. Don't you worry. Once I woke in this place, I thought I'd just wait for this body to fall apart without all the upkeep I was used to..." she rumbles with a chuckle, pacing away to look over the Fereshte's deck and her own outstretched hand. "Looks like I worried about nothing."

"Anyway, yes, I expect you two kept busy. Not the types to sit by and watch the world go past. Especially not in a brave new land like this."

<Pose Tracker> Noeline has posed.

Noeline puffs out another breath, folding her arms. "Well, really. Right now I would be somewhat content to let Spira shake itself apart after some of the things the Yevon Church have done," she grouses unhappily as she shakes her head, but then plants a hand on her hip. "I am not entirely sure if 'brave new land' counts. But I know I should not blame the people of Spira for the church's transgressions, so here we are trying to help as many as we can."

She pauses, because this is Harken, and she's allowed a little streak of pride. "I may have brandished my sword at Sin and lived. But I did get told off afterwards for it," she reports with a little relish, before softening and resting a hand on Riesenlied's shoulder in a silently amused apology.

Noeline has to pause. The word 'upkeep' makes unpleasant memories and a rare, white-hot anger bubble up, but she sucks out a breath, trying to focus on something else. "You do look-- remarkably well. For being on a different planet than the one you started on, especially," she comments.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied makes one of those extremely powerful sad faces as she reaches to find Harken's hands and takes hold of it gently. Perhaps the mention of waiting for bodies to fall apart stirred something extremely anxiety-inducing in her...

As the ring speaks to Noeline, too.

"I... would know a thing or two about that... please, if you ever feel unwell... our doors are always open," Riesenlied is actually pleading.

A little pause, as she listens to Noeline's own recap, nodding. "We have been aiding the Al Bhed, and we were embroiled in a battle against the Church..."

A puff, as expected, as Noeline brags about fighting Sin. Someone may still be reeling from that one battle in Azado. The quiet apology seems to mollify her a little.

<Pose Tracker> Harken has posed.

Harken turns her head again and looks at Noeline with a comical half-lidded, tired stare as she speaks of Spira not --really-- being a brave new land. Her sunglasses slide somewhere down around her nose. "Okay, I'm still waxing philosophical. I haven't had a good chat in months." she admits, losing 2 Boss Points and probably an inch or two of height for the remainder of the scene.

On the other hand... Riese wants to hold her hand, and the sole remaining Quarter Knight does nothing to oppose it. Said hands are not particularly calloused or rough, or at this point in time, really remarkable. "Hmm." Harken thinks quietly, then returns a firm squeeze of hands without being rough.

"I'll come by from time to time, if it doesn't make anyone feel uneasy. Feels like it's not quite time to disappear yet..."

<Pose Tracker> Noeline has posed.

Noeline catches the fear from her connection to Riesenlied at the same time as the Hyadean herself grumbles in response to her; she looks briefly guilty, and squeezes the other woman's shoulder a second time, her touch gentle as she tries to make up for the moment. "... I've learnt since then," she adds, as if to close the door on that particular incident.

She definitely doesn't seem to expect that particular response from Harken, her eyebrows going up in surprise as she chuckles under her breath. It feels rude to mention it out loud, but she can't help but compare the woman in front of them to the Quarter Knight she first knew, and wonders if the last 'good chat' might have been years or decades ago even.

"Put it this way - now that Riese knows you're alive and well, if you don't come by from time to time, she'll probably go chasing after you instead."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied has a tired, tender smile at Harken as she squeezes her hand in turn. She looks back towards Noeline and says, "We can set up a table and some tea, if you want to continue chatting..." A pause, though, as she nods as Harken says that she'll come by from time to time. That's perhaps the kind of closeness that she's more comfortable at, and she doesn't want to force her.

"It... is very nice to see you again."

<Pose Tracker> Harken has posed.

Indeed, Noeline, who is doing the bulk of the speaking now? Is it Harken, freed from her conditioning, or is it the Human personality which had been swallowed up for so long?

"I. . ." Harken opens her mouth, having been prepared to stylishly jump off the airship in a flutter of robes.

Instead, she opts for the hot drink.

"... will come in for tea."

Lady Harken, everyone, very dangerous and cool.
