The Celesti Civil War's fallout had no real winners, but no shortage of sinners. Ruth Pauling of Gaura Bobelo - a soldier of the ill-fated Aquvy Union's navy - is called one of the greatest sharpshooters in modern Filgaian military history with grudging respect. Throughout the 480s, the elf became feared for her mastery of a then state-of-the-art gunsmoke sniper rifle - the Gae Buidhe/Dearg DC4. Legend has it that four foes fell at a time to a sound not unlike that of a door being knocked on, and the shadow of "Death's Door" loomed with every engagement it was heard. She fled capture after the Aquvy Union's fall, and fell into obscurity (rumors concerning the Order of Ethos aside). Only in recent years has she resurfaced as a Drifter, presenting as a rough but kindly soul drawn to people in need. The lingering echo of the "four knocks on Death's Door" follows her through past and present alike, haunting her as much as it does anyone else in her aimless pursuit of embodying virtue and kindness.
Background
Ruth Pauling of Guara Bobelo (born August 14th, 457 PC) remains among the living today, but few historians will look much further than her part as a soldier in the ruinous Celesti Civil War, from roughly 478 PC to its final months in 491 PC. She was one of the aces of the Aquvy Union, but hers is considered a reign of terror rather than a tale of valor.
As both powers involved in the war dissolved within half a year of each other, exact documentation about her and the battles she participated in are difficult to come by. The following is what is generally understood, with people hailing from Southern Aquvy (Zoara - which is to say Guild Galad, St. Heim, and the former Celesti territories) being more likely to know.
