"I'll handle it. Count on me."
The oldest son of the Marchioness of Klein, Tristan Klein is sensible, level-headed, and extremely driven. He has a restless energy that always seems to drive him onward, which serves him well in Meria's army, where he serves now as a Musketeer, though all the talk about him suggests that he'll join the knights soon enough. He went to the best schools, studied many subjects, and is a deft and strong combatant--but he often feels overshadowed by his older sister Eleanor, the heiress to the family position. This is part of what drives him to prove himself, sometimes to his detriment--he loves his family, but he craves the recognition that comes of accomplishment beyond his noble title. Competitive, ambitious, and somewhat impatient, he may well have a bright future ahead of him if he can temper that ambition with good sense.
Background
The first son of the house of Klein, Tristan (Tris to his family and some friends) grew up knowing that his oldest sister was a prodigy. This has always driven him to work harder to keep up with her, since as long as he can remember. He has attended various fine schools, and for the last few years of his schooling he was reliant upon tutors in a variety of subjects to expand his horizons. He was also in training to join the Merian army.
Chapter 2, Act 4
Tristan has finally grown old enough to join the Musketeers, and has done so. Already he's been busy, between Odessa and the increasing number of monsters in the world.
Skills, Powers and Abilities
Tristan is a young man of many talents, from playing the piano to weightlifting, but most notable to his occupation is his combat skill. He is an adept swordsman and an able hand with an ARM, relying upon a bayoneted rifle in combat to allow him to attack both up close and far away. In a fight he is very tough and fast, reliant more upon his ability to endure than on overwhelming force, his patience usually winning the battle for him. His aim is /very/ good, making him one of the best marksmen the Musketeers have ever seen. He also relies on a telescoping shield, which he uses more traditionally for defense and offense. He also has access to a number of items that he can rely on in combat, including a pair of Crest Caps given to him by his sister, Eleanor. He is trained in their use, though his aptitude for magic is otherwise untested.
In exploration scenarios, he is an able combatant, quite fast, reasonably decent at problem solving, and stronger than average. He relies on his shield, crest caps, and a rope with a grappling hook, specially treated to be both light and strong.
