  • Log: The One Where Ammy and Talia Talk About Butt Flame
  • Cast: Talia, Seraph Amaranth
  • Where: The Thames
  • Date: 23rd October 2019
  • Summary: A spicy take on Da-naaaaa!!

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

When the people who found the remains of some of the Tomamond's cargo were teleported to Filgaia, some were separated. This was as much the finnicky nature of Elw teleporters as the layout of the Thames. Walls and chambers separated them; they appeared in an area that was across several rooms. Moreover, the Thames is new.

It is also huge.

But after some searching, Talia has finally found the Festina Lente. It is made harder by the fact that, on Filgaia, many simply can't see Seraphim and their workings. Now, though, spotting the front door, she jogs up. A couple passerby in this long hallway-slash-avenue stare as she knocks on the door, before hurrying along.

"Kaaaaatherine!" she calls out. "Yes, hello, it is Talia! I finally found the Lente! P-Please be the Lente!"

Weirder things have happened...

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

The Festina Lente has... had some remodeling done to it -- 'remodeling', that is, just a change in the facade. It's now somewhat made more out of metal and gantries and support beams to better fit the rusted aircraft carrier aesthetic of the Thames, though only superficially so -- inside, it's still as light and airy as ever.

And Ammy has gone back to being Full Katherine, too.

Curiously, she's tending to a Goron customer of all things. "Hehe, you'll look dashing, I promise you. Come back next Tuesday?"

The Goron nods a few times, before looking. "Oh! You have another customer!"

He tumbles away as a ball as Katherine waves. "Have fun!" A pause, as she looks towards Talia, jittering. "Aaah, it took you long enough...!!"

She immediately scoops her into a hug.

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

Talia, perhaps have a sense of the dramatic -- she /is/ an aspiring actress now, after all -- answers the hug by hugging Katherine back, then kissing her and spinning around on one foot. She lets her down a moment later, smiling proudly (and a little pleased she did that without a tumble).

She looks at the Goron, then, and winks. She waves, too, with her hand. Then, she looks back at Ammy.

Her head tilts to the side. "This place is hard to find things in, no?" she says, with a little wink. "But... I couldn't stop looking until I found you!"

She beams at her.

"I like what you've done with the place," she adds.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

It's perhaps amazing how much Talia's taken to the dramatic, because Katherine almost gets taken off-guard with a yelp as she feels the kiss and spin -- and almost frazzled, comes back for a second one as if she didn't quite feel the full impact the first time.

"At first it was to hide... but..." Katherine bobs. "This place is kind. There are many different kinds of folks, but they find a way to get along with each other." She bobs her head. "Sort of like that Outreach group you work for sometime?"

A longer pause, as she hugs her again.

"It's exciting. That gentleman told me he was to be wed, but it's customary for his family to participate in rolling to celebrate -- so he wanted me to make a tuxedo that could resist high impacts! I've never had to design something like that before."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

Talia laughs, happily, when Katherine kisses her back. She smiles, and hugs her again -- then pulls back to put her arms over her shoulders. She looks at her, head tilted for a moment, and then she nods. "Yes!" she says. "They are a very nice group, no? They work very hard--ah... they probably will love it here."

She should, she thinks, try to check in and make sure they are all fine.

Her eyes widen a little. She isn't surprised that Katherine is making wedding clothing -- really, she assumes she has before -- but she /is/ surprised about the nature of the request.

"R-Rolling...?" she asks. "And high impacts...? That sounds impressive. I want to see the wedding, now..."

She tilts her head. "Do you think you'll stay based out of the Thames, for now? It sounds like business has been good!"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Katherine leads them to the usual couch, though idly thinking that with the new location their balcony will need a... bit of remodelling given it's not in open air right now. Still, little steps, little steps. "I'm glad. You've got a lot of friends supporting you," she chuckles very softly.

Then she expresses her surprise about the rolling. "Right? The Goron, I've come to understand, are rock-people who even eat rocks and minerals! I'm always fascinated to meet other kinds of people... and this ship really is opening my eyes."

A pause, as she smiles a bit more cozily. "Do you want me to? If you know of other islands or lands, we can always move around."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

Talia looks around fondly, as she walks. The Festina Lente has been where she based herself, for adventuring, for over a year now. But, it wasn't really until recently -- after all the events on Spira, the trials and tribulations, that it became home. This time, as she walks in, she knows:

She is back home.

She clings that much tighter to Katherine with the thought, without explaining. She sits down on the sofa, and her eyes widen a little. "That is amazing, no?" she says. "Ah, I want to see more of them... it is nice, this ship! Though..."

She tilts her head. "I thought maybe we could explore some! Or--well, I can check out the very dangerous places--" Then, she winks. "--and we can pick the place we like best to settle down for a bit, no? Jay showed me a map, and... this area is immense!"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Katherine knows the importance the Festina Lente holds for a lot of people -- and so she does her best to keep the interior familiar, knowing that people enjoy heading home there to rest and recharge from the day's trials and tribulations.

"A-aah... there you go again," Katherine pouts good-naturedly. "At least be prepared if you do go somewhere dangerous."

A quiet sigh. "After Macalania? I think I will stay out of trouble for a while. But--" She nods in turn and says, "It is large, is it not? Filgaia... the Blue Planet... it's much larger than our world."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"I don't blame you, no?" Talia says, with a glance at Ammy. She wraps her arm around her shoulders -- pulling Katherine closer, then kisses her on the cheek. "...but, I'll be careful, no? I need to make sure I come home. And... a lot happened. I want to see things, but... take a breather, too."

She bobs her head, once.

"It is large. And... there are lots of places we could see," she says. "We could go to the safer ones, no?"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

"Yes, I do want to explore a bit," Katherine reassures her as she nuzzles closer and feels the warmth from that cheek-kiss. "The country of Meria sounds rather interesting, as is Windfall Island... oh, and that mysterious Kattelox Island too? I have not heard of a city having such a large ruin until--"

A pause. She gestures. "Well, I suppose this is one large ruin if you look at it this way, does it not? The inhabitants do not think so, though."

She chuckles a bit as she says, "Oh, and there are these big steel human-looking machines called Gears. Have you seen one before?"

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"Mm-hm! We should maybe board a ship, and look about? Ah, maybe with the Kinship or Outreach, too, if we want numbers..." Talia trails off, then she bobs her head. "I've heard of all those places! They all sound wonderful, no? Ah, and there is somewhere that is cold! Sielje! We should see it, too."

She beams. "We can go take a tour--ah--" Her eyes widen. "Yes! I saw Gears on the deck... and, a few times before, from a distance. They're... amazing?"

She hesitates a moment. "And scary. They are very scary, Kathy. I don't want to be squashed, no?"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

"Cold! I have not been anywhere freezing in my life," Amaranth muses to herself, as she expresses, "I want to see if I can design for such temperatures... it would be useful, sooner or later." She smiles just a little wider at the thought.

A pause, as her heart thumps a little.

"Do you think you might see if you can get one? They are scary," she admits, "But... Nimue apparently has one as her divine artifact. It's astonishing." A pause.

"A-and there is something romantic about riding one together... maybe. It depends on how ricky it is."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"It would, no? Ah, there is a lot--" Talia laughs, as she thinks about all of it. "I want to see the warm clothes you design! I've... well... I've been in cold weather--"

She wore a fur collar on her main outfit for years, after all.

"--but not with anything you've made for me," she adds, with a little wink. Then, she blinks; Talia's eyes widen, before she nods. "I could... um... see about one? I can keep an eye out, at least..." She taps a finger against her cheek.

"Nimue's is a Gear?" she asks. "That must have been after she came to Filgaia. You can... switch them, then?"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

"Yes," Amaranth confirms for Talia. "I only chose my grimoire when I went to old Vane and found it in the library. I had another before that, but..." A pause, as she bobs her head one way. "Well, that one is long gone now."

She smiles a bit wider and says, "It is fun, to think about cold weather gear. Making something thick isn't enough. Keeping someone cozy but not sweating or boiling from the inside out is a challenge."

She scratches her cheek and-- remarks, "Maybe... maybe we can just borrow one? I heard the folks in the Thames will lend Gears for people doing salvage work for them."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"Are there limits to what you can do?" Talia asks, blinking in surprise. She sort of imagined it differently -- something like the divine artifacts were the very heart of what the Seraphim embodied, something that was with them since birth. "Inanimate objects of all sorts...? Or... well, animate too!"

Because a Gear is certainly not immobile.

She taps a finger against her cheek. Then, she glances sideways. She nods at the notion of cozy clothing. She puts Sielje on the list.

Then, she leans over to Ammy, and winks. A heart flutters away from her eye, of ice-mist.

"...do you just want a romantic Gear ride to somewhere scenic, Katherine?" she teases.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

"... w-well, ask Nimue, not me, she was the one with that idea," Amaranth finds herself at a bit of a loss. She'd never thought of occupying a Gear, after all. "But... I suppose... so?" She doesn't sound like she's quite sure, given she hasn't ever tried actively testing divine artifacts or is a scholar or anything.

She draws in a bit and-- blinks at the tease.

"Y-yes?? Don't you think it's kind of cute?"

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"It is good to know!" Talia says. "If... we ever needed to have another divine artifact for you, in an emergency." She reddens, for some reason. (She was thinking of wedding rings, some day, as a divine artifact. Talia is nowhere near ready to admit this.)

She blinks back, though -- and then her expression breaks into a grin.

"Very cute!" she says. "We should loan one! And... fly it? They can't be too complicated to fly, no?"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Amaranth's face undergoes that thing where you can see her eyelids peeling back as her eyes wiiiiiden and then her pupils shrink a bit as her mind is bloooown.

"... they fly?????"

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"I-I saw one fly," Talia says with a slight stammer. "It looked terrifying yet fun, the way that a cliff face with a rope dangling over it looks like a challenge, no?"

This may say a lot about her.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Amaranth's image of a very casual Gear ride, possibly with her draped over Talia's lap as she suavely pilots with no difficulty at all goes

  • POP*

and is suddenly replaced with the both of them screaming as the cockpit shakes and the Gear freefalls: "HOW DOES THIS THING FLY--"

Amaranth clears her throat. "W-we should learn with a basic Gear first... better learn how to walk before we fly, no?"

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"It made huge things of fire come out of its back and butt, Ammy!" Talia says, with a slight whine to her voice. "And then it took off, but not like a bird! It...it was a lot."

She sighs, and then she puts a hand over her face for a moment. Then, she nods her head.

"You are right. We can do a simple, not-flying Gear," she says. "But still find some place nice, no? And--you know."

She turns red. When on Filgaia...

Talia has reconnected.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Amaranth holds Talia at her shoulders and says, "... ... Things that shoot fire out of its butt aren't romantic, Talia."

The fact that most Gears have verniers is going to really blindside Ammy's romantic vision of Gears.

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"Ammy, we cannot be picky, no? If we want scenic romance, we may have to settle for a little bit of butt flame," Talia says with a sigh.

"I feel our relationship has progressed to the point that it can withstand some butt flame."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

"I understand why Althena took her people and left the Blue Planet now," Amaranth answers dourly, as if the idea of a picturesque Gear romance evening has just been shattered forever. Forever!!

She clears her throat and mumbles, "Stop saying butt flame. You just want to say butt flame now."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"But... to get as high as the Silver Star... Althena must have had the mightiest butt flame of them all, no?"

Talia, tragically, says this blasphemy with the /biggest/ shit-eating grin.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

I'm sorry, I can't pose a response because Amaranth has just literally contracted the Petrify status effect at this!!

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

Talia tilts her head. "Ammy, please do not become a statue, it would be terribly inconvenient."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

  • A-HEM*

...

...

(butt flame)

"... these people ..." Amaranth speaks. "Until Spira, until now, I have not seen so many people be so in tune with the oceans they live around. Have you? Of course, there is the ferry that bridges Glenwood and Meribia, but..."

A pause. "I lived in a port town for a long time," she hesitantly says. "But this is still... very new to me. I was always a bit skittish of the ocean."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

Talia is starting to giggle -- no, cackle. But she manages to get herself under control, until it's a cough-snort into her fist. Then, she leans backward.

She shakes her head. "No," she admits. "I lived in a port town for part of my life, but... the ocean was only part of our lives. Pendrago's so large..." She glances down.

"There wasn't much time to swim. And Ivan--ah, he hates the water," she says. "Can't swim at all. Do you... like to swim? Or go on boats very often?"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Katherine shakes her head and twiddles her thumbs. "I admit I am more like Ivan than you. I never quite learnt how to be comfortable in water at all!" She bites her lip in turn, before quietly sighing, trying to work up the courage to admit this:

"... the port town I lived nearby in was... Lyonesse. The same one described in that crate we discovered."

She lifts her head up for a moment. "It was the first big human settlement I remember seeing."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

Talia laughs, a little.

The thought isn't lost on her, though. Talia and Ivan balanced each other out: she was the wild, impulsive one and he was more reticent, more calculating. That Talia ended up with Amaranth and Ivan ended up with Lydia...

She can see where they found people who complement them.

"Maybe a little," she says, with a smile. Then, she blinks. She thought -- assumed -- that Katherine meant Meribia. She stares for a moment at her. "Lyonesse? The... the place that the Tomamond came from? Then--"

She tilts her head. "...I'd never heard of it, no? It--do you know what became of it?"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

And even then, Talia also has seen Amaranth and Ragnell as well; people have a way of being in pairs that balance each other out, that's for certain. She smiles terribly quietly as she lowers her head. "Uh huh. ... of course I don't know for sure if that is the same Lyonesse, but..."

She hesitates for a long moment.

"I... do not know," she truthfully says. "The name was... also slightly different. Leonois. And it was a much smaller village. And..."

A longer pause.

"Something bad happened that led me to flee Glenwood. And I had not been back ever since. That was the period of time you know where I went to Vane."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"Ah... that's a similar name, no? But--mm. It would be hard to be sure, no?" Talia says, softly. "You left Glenwood a long time ago, it sounds like? Things... must have changed since then."

Talia hesitates, before she bobs her head. "Lubov's family... they must have come from this Lyonesse. I--ah--I want to know more about it, no? It's where I came from, too, it seems like..."

Then, she is quiet, for a moment. Then, she puts a hand on Amaranth's.

"You hadn't returned until... until I started to do those things," she says, quietly. "You went back to a place that was full of bad memories, for my sake, didn't you? I never knew..."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

"... there was... nobody like that back when I was there," Amaranth admits. "As I said, it was... simple, small. It was homely and quiet... there were no nobles there. But from the letters that we saw, it sounded like it may have grown rather large after I left." She looks puzzled for a brief moment.

"I imagine... sis might know a bit more about it. I would like to know about it too," she admits. "It's painful to hear. But..."

She clung quietly towards Talia with a tired smile. "Well. I had started some of those phantom thief acts against the corrupt nobility. But I suppose-- yes, I did resolve to come back to help you."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"Mm... I wonder, no? What they were like. It's tempting to think that they were all terrible, but..." But, that means thinking that Lubov's ancestors are terrible -- and his descendants must be, too. Even if a little part of her whispers the reminder of who she is and what she has done.

She stares into the distance for a moment.

"We can go over the shipping manifest," she says. "And... maybe, we can invite the others, too. Isolde seemed to know of this place, no? Maybe others do, too. And maybe... we can figure out what we can do. Ivan, too--ah, he may want to. They're his ancestors, too."

Then, she looks up, and smiles at Ammy. She pulls her close, and nods at her. "...Mm-hm. You did start that way. But... I'd say la Fille du Temps stole the best treasure of all, no?"

She winks.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Katherine nods very quietly, and perhaps a bit glumly. It is a bit anxiety-inducing to think about it, but... it is about the right time in her life, after she has discovered a new way to move forward, and having the people on hand to support her, to face her past.

"E-ehe..." she gets distracted as Talia teases her again, though. "Did I steal you, or did you steal me? You keep leading me on with those ice-mist hearts, after all."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

Talia watches her, with a flicker of worry. But only a flicker. She wants to ask more -- about what made her leave Glenwood. But... part of what they've been through has taught her a simple truth.

They both need, sometimes, to /not/ be asked and not feel they owe the other an explanation.

"Oh, I don't know. You make your own delightful illusions," she says, with a sigh. She hugs her closer with one arm again. "Maybe we stole each other? It is nice to think of, no?"

One of those ice-mist hearts forms, and rotates in a circle around them, as if tempting Katherine.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

There's a nice, delicate smile from Katherine as she leans forward and pecks Talia at the hairline, before smiling wider and saying, "That -is- nice to think about. And... those worries can wait too. Right now, I'm glad you're home, so I'm going to make you a wonderful dinner, and..."

She lifts her head up.

"We can, uh, decide how to handle our balcony now that it faces a wall at the moment!"

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"Ah, that sounds wonderful! I missed home a lot, no? It is good to be here. And--" Talia trails off, and then she looks up, too, blinking a couple of times.

"...m-maybe... we should figure something out," she ventures, "at least until we know if we're moving the Lente somewhere else..."

She has gotten used to a beautiful beachside view.
