  • Log: The Legend of the Three-Person Sweater
  • Cast: Riesenlied, Lydia Seren, Avril Vent Fleur
  • Where: Meria City - Outer Regions
  • Date: April 10, 2020
  • Summary: Riesenlied discovers a certain terrible sweater. Unfortunately, neither Lydia or Avril are able to (or want to) dissuade her from it. A further terrible item of fashion is conceived.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied is having a happy little wander in Meria, following a particularly untimely transformation that's left her feeling a bit fatigued -- but now, she's gotten up and about again on her leg-braced feet for a stroll out when...

    "Ooh..."

Something seems to have attracted her attention at a boutique store. What might that be?

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

Lydia rides around on a monowheel throughout Meria. Rolling around in that thing helps calm Lydia's mind and helps her relax. It is extremely purposeless--especially since she can fly on her own power but nobody can teleport HER wheel to the moon so it feels a little more real right now than the airship that is presently on another planetoid.

She ROLLS to a stop near Riesenlied, sliding down some sunglasses off her face (where'd she get those??) and says, "Heeey mom. See anything you like?"

She winks with one eye, holding up her hand in a v-sign as she sort of sloughs in the Monowheel.

"Shopping for someone~?"

<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

Once, not that long ago, Ashley had promised Avril and her friends a guided tour of a certain bakery in Meria--

That time is not now. Rebecca and Dean are back in Honeysday, Avril having headed out to conduct a bit of shopping for them. Of course Rebecca had wanted to come along with...

But her expertise had been needed back in the recovering village (suffice to say, when it comes to balance, no one does it better than their resident acrobatic shooter). After promising to be careful and keep a low profile...

Well, here she is, if dressed down for a change, and walking the streets of Meria in search of the next item on her list. Avril frowns at it.

This is when a certain monowheel comes scooting by. "Ah...?"

Lifting her gaze, she soon also spots Riesenlied.

    "Riesenlied? Are you well?"

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied looks rather excited as she hears the sound of a monowheel, and not just any monowheel -- a vehicle she's ridden on, much less shared with Lydia! She claps together as she says, "Nice sunglasses!"

She tilts her head as Avril comes along too, and she places her hands behind her back. "Avril...! I am full glad to see you today too. Look--"

    Riesenlied points to... to...

    ...

    My gosh, it's ugly.

It's made of coarse wool fiber, coloured some kind of sickly pale green with darker green patterns of reindeers, Christmas trees, jingle bells...

    ...

And it's not just any sweater.

It's as wide as two people and has two neckholes in it.

"I have never seen one of these before! Is it not exciting??"

    oh no

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

Lydia says, "YO AVRIL!" She takes the sunglasses off and offers them to Avril. "Want to try these on?"

She grins sharply at Riesenlied and says, "Eheheh...well, someone's in good spirits today. Good to see it!" She pauses as she looks at the horrifying two-person sweater.

...
...
...

"Oh yeah," Lydia says. "You and Noe should totally wear that together."

Lydia manages to keep an excellent poker face in this moment as she says this, doing her best to come off, shall we say, completely legit.

"I don't think I've seen a sweater like that before either." She admits.

<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

"Hmm... these are sunglasses, are they not?" Avril says, taking the pair. "I have made use of these before in the desert..."

With that stated, Avril carefully dons the sunglasses.

    ......Lookin' cool, Avril.

Thus it is that she sees through darkened lenses as Riesenlied produces the...

        ...sweater.

Avril gazes at it for a long moment.
Then she tilts her head slightly to one side.

"I was not aware that there were people with two heads," is the remark she produces in the end.

Nothing about her suggests she is being wry or sarcastic or anything except completely, utterly, totally...
    serious.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied gasps as Avril puts the sunglasses on, and her joy just seems to buoy even more and more. "You do look splendid with them, Avril! You have a very 'cool' atmosphere with them, I think..."

Avril tilts her head at the sweater, as Lydia suggests what they should do. She points at Lydia, enthusiastically nodding. "Yes, just my thought!"

    oh no, she's super serious

"I do not believe that is the case, Avril... I think it is-- ah--" A pause, as Riesenlied tilts her head. "Actually, there was a Hyadean with two heads, but aside from that!"

She clears her throat. "I believe people put on these sweaters and race, as a show that they are very much trusting and in sync with each other."

... that's three legged races, riesenlied

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

"Lookin' cool, Avril!" Lydia says, turning METATEXT into TEXT. Shee seems pretty proud of herself for using the word 'cool' too. It's a pretty ice pun...

REGARDLESS. She turns her focus back over to Riese, quriking her head to the side a bit as well as Riesenlied explains her feelings on the matter. Well--why not? It can be like that. She isn't entirely sure why else there's be a two-headed sweater anyway. "I guess if you're sharing the same sweater...it would inevitably...get pretty hot."

But she does think about it further and admits, "Though--you know...you show your in-syncness with Noeline all the time! But if you want to get a sweater to show it too, that's totally fine! It'd be super cute!"

<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

Avril touches a pair of fingers to the frame of the shades. "Oh, is this 'cool', then? I have heard Dean refer to things as cool. He says it is reserved for things that are..." Avril pauses a moment, as if to recall what explanation he had given her. "...totally sweet. That does not mean that they taste sweet, of course. Rather, I think he means that they are things that he likes, which he also finds very interesting."

It's good to know that some things don't change, as far down the rabbit hole of her own existence Avril may go.

Avril may be the wrong person to point out at all that this sweater is...

    ...on various points...

    ...a really bad idea.

Instead, she regards Riesenlied with a mixture of puzzlement and slow understanding. "Oh... I see. So, two people are meant to share this sweater. Hmm..."

She folds her arms over her chest, as if to consider this. "I suppose it would conserve heat in colder climes. I wonder..."

    There is a long pause.

"I wonder if there might be a version for three people?"

    avril no

"When I had last been in Sielje, it was rather chilly. If I could have shared a sweater with Dean and Rebecca..."

    avril no

Where's Rebecca, or someone else with a sensible head on their shoulders when you need them?

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

Riesenlied puts her hands behind her back, giggling softly. "Do you think so, Lydia? I am full glad to hear it. I am always looking out for more things the two of us can do together..." She places her hand to her chest. "I know we have our differences, so I am always seeking new experiences."

... new experiences, like the two-headed sweater

"Hmm... 'totally sweet'," Riesenlied muses of Avril. "I will remember that phrase too."

... Avril and Riesenlied aren't that different, on some levels.

    "Three... people?"

Riesenlied gasps. "Avril! That is brilliant! You could have one for you, Dean and Rebecca!"

    the doom continues......

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

"Well, I think the way you look in shades...is totally sweet." Lydia explains. He is starting to realize that all these people she looked up to and depended on when she was down on herself and really needed friendship and kind words are, honestly, a bunch of weirdos. But that's okay! Lydia likes weirdos. Weirdos like these chumps! But chumps in this context stands for dearly loved ones but Lydia's language is sometimes a bit rough.

"You should totally share a sweater with Dean and Rebecca." Lydia says. "I bet they'd get a kick out of it." She actually isn't all that certain of this but why not? It FEELS like it would be fun.

"Imagine all those digs that try to seperate you too--because you are wearing the sweater, you'll be sure to end up in the same spot at the same time no matter what it throws at you."

<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

"Why, thank you, Lydia," Avril replies, smiling all the while-- until that moment where she stops, touches her fingers to the frame of the glasses, and then slips them off. "Oh, my apologies. I did not mean to keep these. They do belong to you." She hands them back over to Lydia, dipping her head and shoulders in a most shallow bow. "Thank you for letting me try them on."

Which just brings the situation back around to the...

    ...sweater.

"Yes. It would, would it not? But, do such sweaters exist...?"

Or will they need to handcraft one?

"Hmm... Perhaps if one were to cut a hole for the neck into an existing sweater... ah, but the weave would prohibit such a thing..."

Avril descends into a realm of deepest contemplation.

    Dean might be on board.
Rebecca, however, will probably not like this at all.

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

"That is a good idea!" Riesenlied answers Lydia. "Being separated in Digs is the worst feeling... and these sweaters are the answer."

Avril wonders if a sweater like that exists. "If not... then, I believe there should be tailors and seamstresses out there that can enable such a garment?" Riesenlied answers.

Somewhere, Amaranth starts hyperventilating and looking around frightened for no real discernible reason.

"Ah! I shall buy this after all. And Avril, I will help you seek out such a garment, I will promise you that," Riesenlied beams. Noeline's not the only one in trouble now...

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

"Yeah I think this is a winning strategy." Lydia says, taking back her shades. "And it's alright! Got nothing to apologize for. They were actually pretty cheap..." Well yeah it's not like Lydia runs a business right now!!! She misses scamming people alread---providing a useful service already.

"I do know at least one seamstress." Lydia volunteers.

<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

"Oh, were they? Hmm... I shall keep that in mind, should we need to travel within a desert once again."

There's only really the Damzena Desert around here, Avril...

But back to the matter of a sweater--

"Yes, I believe so. I wonder what it might cost to commission one, however. Much of our funds is directed towards Honeysday at present, and it would be a shame to divert that for my own purposes. Hmmm..." Avril appears to be in the midst of a weighty consideration, indeed.

Which is when Lydia says she knows a seamstress.

"Oh, do you?" Avril clasps her hands together, evidently well-pleased by this. "Then, perhaps she might be able to create such a garment. Oh, but there would be still the matter of the cost..."

<Pose Tracker> Riesenlied has posed.

"It is all right. I have always had a mind that we should have funds for ourselves, and that of the Outreach or other labours like Honeysday," Riesenlied expresses. She pauses herself, thinking of Ragnell's words amongst others.

"If we work ourselves dry without any joy, and burn ourselves out, we will not have the means to continue."

She tilts her head. "So I will contribute some of my money for this too, hmm?"

She's so convinced she's doing a good thing...

<Pose Tracker> Lydia Seren has posed.

"Oh yeah, her name's Katherine Weaver and she has a magical house. Check out the Festina Lente sometime!" Lydia says perkily. Sorry Ammy.

Riesenlied's got a point, but honestly Lydia is a little uneasy about admitting that when she's been so focused on helping Honesday out... Maybe she should lend a hand there too sometime... IF THE SKY FASCISTS WILL LET HER. But actually, she MAY INDEED have the opposite conundrum coming up. If her player gets off her butt and makes plans! But that's a mighty big if as we all know.

"Well if you're busy with Honesday right now--you might not need it immediately," Lydia admits. "But I am going to teach you a phrase, Avril... a powerful one that lets you get things for free...!"

She points into the distance dramatically. "Put it on my tab!!"

She nods twice. "It's like that."

<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

If they work themselves dry without any joy...

"...That is true," Avril remarks, nodding the once. "In that case... perhaps, if it is not too much, then I will take up Lydia on her offer and have a visit with her friend."

    Poor Amaranth...

    "Ah?"

Lydia then says that she will teach Avril a very important phrase, indeed--

    She listens, intent.

"Put it... on my tab," she echoes, then repeats it for good measure. "Put it on my tab. Put it on my tab! ...Is that right, Lydia?"

This is only going to end in disaster.
