| PRE-ENCOUNTER SUMMARY: | 2017/11/12: Awareness of the POI heretoafter referred to as "Azazel" was first obtained based on intelligence received from POIs Keil and Whitlock in regard to an individual whose described abilities and actions were consistent with the standard profile of a rogue ether user. Further contact with Whitlock provided intel on the particulars of her encounter and strengthened a theory that Azazel's abilities revolved around the use of unknown etheric affinity to create mental illusions.
Exchange with a drifter woman identified as Cassidy Cain (POI report developing) led to rumors of a strange man with matching description (unnaturally blue eyes) sighted in Lacour. Initiated investigation in the Lacour region and encountered conflicting stories. Received later intel that an individual matching Azazel's description headed due south from Nortune. Upon receiving intelligence, assembled standard protocol ether suppression unit (Operatives Kadir, Leyreft, and Mazdai assigned) and disembarked from relay station gamma. |
| ENCOUNTER SUMMARY: | 2017/11/12: Intercepted target at approximately 50 rep south of Kislev in disputed territory. Confirmed unusual etheric saturation in area surrounding target and proceeded with suppression techniques. Target was confirmed as Azazel, but hypnotic field suppression techniques (AKA Cantus) failed to neutralize his combat readiness. Azazel appeared to be acquainted with the procedure.
At this point, group disunity prompted by Operative Kadir resulted in failure to contain Azazel and avoid combat. Kadir attempted to alert the unit about Azazel (see below) but was incapacitated and killed before he could relay information. The remainder of the unit engaged Azazel, who deployed ether in scales and uses that, at the time of this report, have not been previously measured in any known quantity. From the failure of the cantus and the possessing of unique Gebler ID'd paraphernalia, deduced that Azazel is not a -lambs-, but a defected Solarian or Gebler agent. An apostate. Further combat saw Leyreft KIA and Mazdai wounded severely. Successfully disarmed Azazel by targeting his weapon (inferior quality) during an exchange, appearing to wound him. However, Azazel deployed a form of illusion previously described by Keil/Whitlock and was able to escape. Mazdai succumbed to his wounds during this time. Inspection of Mazdai and Leyreft's bodies (and Kadir's remains) revealed two stolen items during Azazel's escape: Mazdai's personal weapon (capable of ether channeling) and the field computer assigned to Kadir. | RECOMMENDED ACTION: | 2017/11/12: Immediate escalation of high-alert to all embedded agents and re-evaluation of current operating procedures. Creation of special task force and unit to pursue and neutralize Azazel. If sighted independently, do not engage. Emphasis, DO NOT ENGAGE. |
| COMMENTS: | 2017/11/12: The threat an individual of Azazel's abilities and knowledge to our ongoing operations cannot be overstated. Although operative Kadir's computer was remotely decommissioned once reported, it is not impossible Azazel could have obtained critical information about current operating procedures and embedded agents before the device lost function.
Remarks from Azazel suggested that previously mentioned drifter, Cassidy Cain, has encountered him before and deliberately misled or misconstrued facts when questioned. Will personally revisited case to determine veracity and obtain further information about Azazel, if possible. OOC: ICly, Isiris' name or identity save that of an apostate are unknown. |
