| DESCRIPTION: | Investigate and determine cause behind apparent silence, determine veracity of Wels rumors. |
| PRE-EVENT SUMMARY: | Rumors circulating regarding Wels and out-of-touch Lamb settlements in region provoked necessity of further investigation. Standard desert conditions on site of town. Marked presence of Wels. Mission arguable failure but confirmed Wels presence; see additional comments below. |
| EVENT SUMMARY: | Encountered Wels shortly after arriving; number of Wels made engaging them directly impractical. While attempting to gain a strategic position, we came across an apparent source of the contamination within the water treatment facility. An attempt to seal them inside failed and the increasing number forced a strategic retreat. Wels remain in abundance at the site. |
| RECOMMENDED ACTION: | Additional surveys may be needed to confirm whether other sites also contain Wels; given experiences at Araxa, this seems quite probable. Cleansing the site may be required. Drifters may be useful given potential resource-use cost involved. |
