<Pose Tracker> Eleanor Klein has posed.

It is a rainy day in Klein, which means most people are in the warm if they're able to be; at this time of year, wet means cold this close to the sea here. But the castle is plenty warm, and protected from the elements.

The castle remains largely open to the public; there are residential areas that are not, but the Great Fairy's Fountain is in a central area, appearing behind a few offices, easy to reach for someone who knows the way, when she wants it to be open.

For Cirea, it will be open.

Right now, the Fairy herself is hovering over her Fountain, a thing of blue water and fine greenery. She is dressed mostly in leaves and vines herself, though also in some diaphonous cloth; it's all very... fey. And she is speaking to a young elf in orange.

"So it's part of an older tradition of artifact-based magic. I wonder how much of our modern Mystic tradition in Crest Sorcery owes to this..."

"Probably quite a bit, young Sage. But I don't go in for modern magic so much regardless. I'll teach things my way."

"Of course. I'm just curious..."

The door to this little cavern is an ordinary door, just like any to another room, except that it feels a little warmer.

<Pose Tracker> Cirea has posed.

Cirea spends a lot of her time outside, but she comes inside sometimes when she wants to sleep, stash her stuff...

...or, as it turns out, get out of the rain.

Cirea darts in through one of the doors to the castle when someone else opens it and spends the next while hovering up near the ceiling in one of the open areas, trying to be less of a waterlogged mess. Fortunately, she is an air mage, and that means a blow drier is never far at hand.

So a few minutes later she looks merely slightly damp instead of waterlogged; her dress is dry, her hair is dry-ish if a little less floofy than usual, and she's back on the prowl to see if there's something or someone interesting around.

Something like a door. Cirea doesn't remember that one there before. And it's warm!

"Hmm..." Cirea considers the door for a moment and then lands on the floor, planting her back against the door and shoving it further open. It doesn't need to be very open at all before she can squeeze into it, taking off again once she finds that it opens into... a cavern? And not a room?

"That's weird!" Cirea says, loud enough to carry, before she comes around the corner of the door and sees the Great Fairy. And Eleanor, of course. But mostly the fairy. Her eyes widen.

<Pose Tracker> Eleanor Klein has posed.

The conversation stops when Cirea arrives--not because it was a rude interruption, but because she's a lot more interesting than musings that were winding down in the first place. The door opens just enough for Cirea to come in and...

"Oh!" Eleanor looks down to see Cirea there, "Hello!"

But it's the fairy whose eyes light up in delight at the sight of the other fairy, "Why, hello there." Still hovering, she flips in the air forward to peer at Cirea from her perch, "You aren't at all from this world, now are you, my future friend?"

"If I'd known you were coming I'd have gotten the door for you," Eleanor says apologetically, but the Great Fairy answers, "She managed quite well on her own, I think."

"What is your name?" she asks.

<Pose Tracker> Cirea has posed.

It sort of was a rude interruption. Cirea just doesn't care.

Still wide-eyed, Cirea flutters forward. "I didn't know there were any BIG fairies!" She seems somewhere between surprised and impressed. She looks over toward Eleanor. "You could have told me... or introduced me!"

But back to the Great Fairy. "Sorry... I've only met one fairy here and she's shorter than I am. I didn't think there were many around at all, even though I've heard the rumours. And no, I'm not. I'm from Lunar! The Moon," she clarifies, "though we don't call it that, and down here's the Blue Star instead of Filgaia."

She does an aerial spin, and then something halfway between a curtsey and a bow. "My name's Cirea! I'm a sorceress. I come around here sometimes but I don't, like... LIVE here. What's yours?"

<Pose Tracker> Eleanor Klein has posed.

"Oh! You're right, I could've," Eleanor says. "I'm still getting used to her living in my home..."

"Oh, I'm sure it's like I've always been here!" the Great Fairy answers, and then looks to Cirea. She marvels a bit at her. "Ahhh yes. One of Althena's, then."

"I do like the 'Blue Star', as it happens. It is indeed very blue. What a pretty name!"

She inclines her head back to Cirea's bow. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Cirea of Lunar."

"I am Filgaia's Great Fairy of Magic, Gida. I'm something of a sorceress myself. I'm here staying with my dear friend the Sage of Light, supporting her efforts to reunite the other Sages."

"Are you attached to any particular home? Or are you a roving sorceress?"

<Pose Tracker> Cirea has posed.

"I guess that's fair," Cirea allows Eleanor. It's not like she, Cirea, lives here on a regular basis, anyway. She gets around a lot; travelling is fun.

"You know of her!" Cirea figures someone just told the Great Fairy - Gida - about Althena, but it's always nice to be recognized. "And... yes, it's blue when we look at it. Obviously it's a long way away so we can't really make out much but you can see the oceans."

Cirea considers a moment. "Like, all magic?" she asks. She knew Eleanor was a magician herself, though she didn't know she was aligned with Light, exactly. "Oh, I know about light myself! And air; those are the elements I use." Another look at Eleanor: "You should show me what you can do with it sometime."

When asked if she has any particular home: "Well, yes and no! I'm from somewhere, obviously, but it's on Lunar. Right now I'm traveling! I want to learn more about magic other places, and there's so many things to do out here! What about you? I know Eleanor travels too."

<Pose Tracker> Eleanor Klein has posed.

"I do. She made quite a stir a few thousand years ago..." She smiles, leaning back to rest her elbow on the air. "I see! Yes, that would make sense. Despite the desertification of the wasteland, we still have the oceans!"

Gida inclines her head. "I don't know all kinds of magic, of course, but I know quite a bit, particularly about fairy magic."

Eleanor smiles. "I'd like that," she says to Cirea about Light. "I'm still somewhat new to it, but I think I've done all right so far."

"Light and air... an interesting combination," says Gida. "A fine goal. I sense that the magic you use isn't the same as the magic I use, but we might have some interesting things to learn from each other regardless." A beat, "I don't travel much; I rely on my people to bring me stories of the outside world. We've been in hiding for some time, since the fall of the ancient land we watched over, and even more since the rise of Ganondorf. But since the Sages have returned, I thought it time that we fairies do as well."

<Pose Tracker> Cirea has posed.

Cirea rarely stays still when she's talking, unless she's sitting, and she's not now; she's kind of slowly drifting to a position where she can see both Eleanor and Gida easily enough.

"Wow! I didn't think anyone was old enough to remember her, really. I'm not even old enough to remember when we came to the tower we live in, and that was only a thousand years ago..." How old *is* Cirea? She's never said, but apparently she's hardly immortal. "I guess it's only the big fairies that were hiding? ...why ARE you big, anyway? I'm, like... a normal height," at one foot, "for a fairy anyway. I know humans are all bigger."

She asks, more directly: "What's the fairy magic? Holly - she's a fairy too - said something about that too, but I don't know that I have very much. My magic comes to me through Althena's Blessing; most people on Lunar have a connection to an element, or two, with training!" She assumes Gida might not know. "But I guess there's flying, and making things light, and a few other tricks. They're not really spells, though."

A grin for Eleanor. "That's okay! It's all about learning, right? I have some books! Oh, but they're not here, I couldn't carry them... And I don't know that you could use all of them anyway, but maybe there's something in there that's useful?"

<Pose Tracker> Eleanor Klein has posed.

The Great Fairy is not entirely still, either; it seems Gida has at least a few things in common with Cirea, in addition to the light sparkling around her.

"I'm very, very old," Gida supplies helpfully--and then laughs, musical, as Cirea asks the obvious question. "It's a mark of my power and rank," she says. "But really, I can appear most however I like. I tend to vary depending on who's visiting, what I feel they need to see."

Eleanor is not taking notes, but she's mentally taking notes.

"Interesting..." Gida nods. "Flying, making things light, tricks; these are the simplest expressions of fairy magic. But we can cast illusions, heal wounds, and do all sorts of other things. I can grant humans the ability to use magical artifacts that would otherwise be nothing but trinkets for them; the Sage here has a medallion designed for that purpose, in fact."

Eleanor holds up the Aether medallion, gold with a sound wave type pattern on it. "Much of the magic of our tradition," Eleanor says, "Is stored in items--some books, but also other things." A beat, "I'm always interested in books, though!"

Gida grins. "But it's possible that you may have this Blessing instead of our inherent magic; we draw on a connection to the world, you see. Our Filgaia."

<Pose Tracker> Cirea has posed.

"Oh, so it's an illusion..." That makes sense to Cirea even if it's not, precisely, the correct answer.

"I can't heal anything. It's - there's two kinds of the Blessing, and I don't have that kind," Cirea says. "I can explain white and black magic, but, I have black and healing is white - I don't know why we called them that, they're just called that. But I can do illusions! It's one of the tricks with Light magic - here, I'll show you!"

Cirea spins in place, drawing a small magic circle around her - which she reconsiders and about doubles in size and complexity, patterns appearing mandala-like inside the ring in colours and shapes. She concentrates, spreading one arm wide -

And then, suddenly, there are TWO Eleanors in the room. Well, cave.

The new Eleanor waves, a more Cirea-like gesture than an Eleanor one. Cirea is absolutely showing off, and it's easier to make a more accurate thing that's already in the room, that she can imitate the way light bounces off and scatters from it.

"Sound is harder," Cirea says, "but if you move the air just right - well, I can't do her voice because I haven't practiced it." She closes her mouth, firmly, and a patch of air says in Cirea's voice, "But I can do mine!"

It's not quite perfect. It has a faint hum behind it, a resonant ringing, like the quiet tone of a fingertip on a wet glass. It's most obvious with voice; she could probably do less complex sounds without as much distortion.

More normally: "Using magic items... I thought everyone could do that! Oh, but some of them you need to power, I guess, and I'm used to that with the Blessing; I guess without you would have to find another way."

The second Eleanor turns, abruptly, into solid colours - a very saturated silhouette of herself - and blows away on rainbow smoke that fades in a few seconds as the wisps pull apart. "Oh, can I see the medallion?" she asks, flying over to look at it. "And I'll get you the books when I can! They're just... not here."

<Pose Tracker> Eleanor Klein has posed.

"Close enough."

"I see! So it is qualitatively different. I thought so, from the feeling..."

Eleanor doesn't get in the way of this demonstration--though she does blink to see herself, instinctively moving to smooth her dress and check her hair as if in a mirror. She has to look her best!

Gida claps. "What a fine illusion!" she announces. "And sound, too. Very good. And you do this by weaving Light and Air aspected magic, I see..." She shifts her position to one where she has her chin in her hand, thinking. "Quite interesting indeed!"

Then, Eleanor chimes in, "Precisely--those that need powering. They can thus have more impressive effects." She shows the medallion to Cirea, though she doesn't let go; it's almost as big as Cirea. If she proves able to pick it up, she'll let go, but only then. "Thank you," she says of the books. "I can wait!"

Gida, in the meantime, is still examining the aftermath of Cirea's spells for the moment, peering quite intently at the space where the illusion was.

<Pose Tracker> Cirea has posed.

It's a pretty good duplicate of Eleanor, rather than being artistic or extra flattering; it really is just a copy. It moves fairly realistically... or, rather, it moves in a way that seems possible, if not realistically *Eleanor*. Cirea isn't trying to actually fool anyone, so the actual movements are closer to her own body language than Eleanor's.

"Right! Light to make something to see, and Air to make something to hear. I'm better at light," Cirea admits. "I do a lot of my magic visualization with colour and patterns and shape, so that helps. With sound it's easier to just make, like... well, sounds. Voices are hard. They're complicated!

"But they're both real easy to get wrong. If you make the image wrong, in the way it seems like it would be right if you've never done it before, sometimes it looks like it's glowing." Cirea pauses, thoughtfully. "Though sometimes you WANT it to glow, so that's fine."

Gida investigating her magic shows that, one, it was actually legitimately complicated - Cirea must be a pretty talented sorceress - and two, it really is just air and light. Light to change the way light bends and bounces, bouncing off thin air instead of a solid object; Wind to make the air vibrate, like the interior of a speaker. The faint ringing was because she slipped a little and didn't dampen quite all the excess vibrations, though that's more a matter of focus and practice than a spell that can't do it. Part of the light spell is still there, but deactivated; it's not bending any light right now, but Cirea could probably reactivate it more easily than casting a new one, at least until it breaks up further.

Cirea lowers to look at the amulet. Picking it up seems like it would be challenging, but she gives it a go anyway, flapping her wings briskly in a way she normally doesn't seem to need to and showering it with a sparkly greenish dust. It makes the amulet lighter - not weightless, but enough that Cirea can pick up a piece of metal nearly her own weight. Even if she does fly a little lower with it.

"Whoof... okay, what does this do?" She doesn't actually try to use it, though she does try to investigate it, touching it with a wisp of magic and trying to trace the enchantment.

<Pose Tracker> Eleanor Klein has posed.

It's a fascinating thing to watch, and Eleanor doesn't exactly mind seeing a copy of herself. Some people might be bothered by that sort of thing, but she's more interested in the magic that does it than that. She's looking, too!

"Ahhh, with color. A rich palette with which to paint," Gida says. "Yes, the magic you're using is quite complicated. You're very talented. To do this with elementally aspected magic in particular is impressive. The techniques I know rely on unaspected magic--I can more directly shape the effect I wish."

"And the spell is still there," Eleanor points out. "That's interesting, too."

The medallion does not spark or go off or do much of anything when Cirea examines it--mostly because she's not trying to use it, though it might require a special kind of magic to activate anyway.

"It's a spell that alters the weather for an offensive attack," Gida explains. "Suited to a Hero. Or a Sage, for that matter." Cirea's magical tracing will identify the same; it weaves in elements of ice and lightning, without being directly aspected to either.

Eleanor says, "That trick with the dust must be very useful. My approach to heavy things is the opposite." She gestures to her Power Bracelet, which of course she's wearing; it looks like regular jewelry, but carries a powerful magic of enhancement.

<Pose Tracker> Cirea has posed.

Cirea beams when she's praised. "Honestly, I don't know any other way to do it! A lot of Althena's Blessing is elemental... not all of it, but so much of it is that if I'm going to do something complicated it's the first thing I'm going to think about."

When Eleanor points out the spell is still there, Cirea shrugs. "I didn't break it up all the way! I could," she says, and flicks her finger; what's still there immediately comes apart, the spell putting a just-barely-visible ripple in the air for an instant. "But if you just stop powering it, the... framework, I guess? Anyway, it doesn't go away immediately unless it's dark, I guess because then it doesn't have any light at all to work with. But it won't do anything unless I start doing it again."

Cirea might not be an ice mage or a lightning mage as far as Eleanor knows, but just because she doesn't have that Blessing doesn't mean she can't at least tell the basics about the medallion. She'd never be able to duplicate it, but she might be able to use it with some effort. She doesn't try, though. "That's neat! I've done some things with wind storms, but it's not quite the same, is it?" She hands the medallion back. (It remains a bit lighter for a while, though it's going to regain its normal weight over the next few minutes.)

She grins. "The dust... a bunch of us can do that, it's not really the Blessing. I read in a human storybook that a fairy could make you fly that way, and that's not true at all, but it DOES make things light. It helps us move things, and I can spread it with a spell to make people fall slower. That's the only 'fairy magic' I know that isn't the Blessing! ...the dust, not the spreading, that's putting it on the breeze."

<Pose Tracker> Eleanor Klein has posed.

"Of course," Gida replies. It seems entirely logical. As for Eleanor and the spell, "I see! Still, it's notable that it's persistent in that way until acted upon. Most of the magic I'm used to is always in motion; it can't really 'stay' unless forced."

It'd be an interesting experiment to see! Maybe the average Blessing user could or couldn't, but Cirea isn't that.

"Not quite," Gida answers. "As you say." Eleanor takes the medallion, and puts it away in her bag. It'll be useful later, but right now it's just bulky!

"Flight takes a little more than that," Gida agrees. "Still, that's the same kind of magic we use. I suspect that the Blessing edges out much more of what I could teach you, but that may not be true. In any case I could teach you about our magic, and you could teach me about yours."

"I'm... pleased, to see that there are fairies on Lunar."

"Ordinarily I'd be treating everything with much more mystery, but... Well, we're all a little behind the scenes here."

<Pose Tracker> Cirea has posed.

"Well, it's not DOING anything. It's like..."

Cirea thinks of how to put it. "It's like, I've already made the magic circle, I've already told it what air I want to work with. The air's still there, even if what I'm doing with it is 'nothing', which takes so little power I don't really need to pay attention to it... if I want it to actually LOOK like anything, then I have to actually work with it. And that's the motion."

But Althena's sorcerers can enchant items, so perhaps it doesn't always need to stay in motion after all. Cirea would need to think about that.

"If you want to teach me about it, I'll listen! And I can say what I know about the Blessing, though obviously I don't know as much about the kinds I don't have..." Cirea doesn't know very much about white magic, except in a very theoretical sense. Some of the books mentioned it a bit - but it was the library of an archmage, and so that's the kind she read the most about.

She smiles. "I'm glad there are fairies here! I didn't know there were, when I first came here, until I met one. I didn't expect to find one. But it turns out there's more here than there, even if some of them were hiding! ...And I won't tell if you don't want me to."

Maybe she thinks Gida is still hiding?

<Pose Tracker> Eleanor Klein has posed.

"Hmmmm, okay." Eleanor nods along with Cirea's explanation. I'd love to see more of it sometime. Maybe when we're comparing Light magic."

The Fairy, meanwhile, inclines her head, having shifted position to her more comfortable reclining on her side again. "Ahaha... yes, that would be delightful. We'll have to speak much more, Cirea."

Eleanor smiles, to see the two of them mutually happy about this. And Gida says, "I appreciate that. There are many of us, and some might even reveal themselves to you, if they spot you. There are a few other Great Fairies like me, as well, though it's their business where they are."

"...I can hide the location of my fountain from mortals, but if someone like Ganondorf were to force his way here... it would be a terrible battle. And even I couldn't defeat him, with all my power."

Eleanor says, "...One day. Hopefully, by then, we'll have found a solution... or the 'Hero'. But I won't let a 'hero' sacrifice himself for us, either."

Gida looks to Eleanor for a moment, thoughtfully, and then smiles to Cirea. "Well, regardless. Stay as long as you like, my young friend!"

<Pose Tracker> Cirea has posed.

<poem>"Sure!" Cirea likes talking about magic; she will be perfectly happy to give Eleanor the same kind of explanation she's given the others.

She nods along. "I'd like that! Hopefully I can meet them sometime. And I don't know if I'm a hero, but if anyone tries to mess with your fountain, I'll do my best!" She brings herself up to her maximum height (one foot zero), chest slightly thrust out with pride and dedication before she relaxes.

"I'll stay for a bit. It's kind of messy outside," she says, before hastily adding, "It's raining! It's not like there's actually a disaster or anything, I just didn't want to fly in it."

But right for the moment... Cirea is currently trying to figure out how you can lounge on your side and keep flying. She's pretty sure if she tried to get into the position the Great Fairy is in, she'd fall out of the air. Not hard, but... down.
