|Current Situation=Maya seems to have recuperated pretty well from some kind of bizarre mental side-effect suffered from Riesenlied's less-than-lethal pacification weapon used in the battle of Adlehyde. She has no idea what all of those weird memories of cold metal cots and forced injections are about, but the warmth and love of her friends (and the realization that she is not without worth as a person, even without her Personas™) has helped her put it aside for now and return to being the noisy, sassy gunslinger everyone knows and loves. The Schrodinger family is enjoying a pit-stop in Lacour, on their way back to Bledavik to regroup and maybe start looking for answers. Maya has been busying herself being the breadwinner for the rest of the gang, who are hard at work investigating the information and relics she brings back on the occasions they aren't pulling her bacon out of the fire. Cunning foes can probably tell she's been hanging around the Vile Fiends, too, trying to figure out more about where the heck they actually come from. But the blonde Drifter's focus on treasure and trophies is beginning to take a backseat in light of all the thunderous happenings going-on around her. Now her friend Virginia has been turned into a Hellion, Vash the Stampede is rumored to have returned, and creatures of living metal have brought war and ruin renewed to the peaceful city of Adlehyde.
|Current Situation=Maya's come a long way since poking her head into the Adlehyde region in search of fame and fortune. Swept up by the currents of ancient plans put into motion and new wars sparking from old rivalries, she spent the better part of Act 1 getting to know the band of lovable rogues referred to as the Vile Fiends in great detail, as well as becoming chummy with a bunch of colourful individuals who would later reveal themselves to be Metal Demons, which is a problem because their people are hell-bent on burning Filgaia down and killing everyone on it. She has earned the enduring ire of the Black Ties for overzealously laying into their departing caravan from the sacking of Timbly Town with an automatic weapon, killing more than her fair share, but has not yet had to answer to [[Character :: Kent Hauch]] or any of his lieutenants despite some close calls. There's also the issue of her friend [[Character :: Virginia Maxwell]], an innocent girl from the boonies who became so enamored with her and so despondent at the idea of dragging Maya's journeys down that she gave in to strange forces and became a Hellion in some kind of bargain for power.

Most recently, Maya found herself and Virginia drawn to the Guardian Temple for reasons they couldn't really explain, only to tumble through a punishing series of trials, fail miserably, and be told they need to shoulder some of the burden anyway lest disaster befall Filgaia. More to the point, Solais Emsu patched together some of the Drifter's fragmented memories into a nice quilt to prove a point, though showing Maya she was at some point outside of the atmosphere just kind of spooks her. Be that as it may (or perhaps *because* of this), there's work to be done! The spirited blonde is hard at work looking for texts from Hiro et al.'s homeland for 'some reason' and has started to make plans for what it means to live with someone tainted by Malevolence, all while continuing to dig through the ruins of the old world in search of some answers. A storm isn't just coming, it's landed on the proverbial shores. The time to get serious has long since passed, and Maya races to catch up.

|Powers='''???''': Completely unknown to anyone outside of the Schrodinger squad or ancient villains running the show, Maya can change forms to access different abilities and powers. How this works is a mystery, even to her, but she has been making ''very'' effective use of it for some time now. So far, she has been ''extremely'' disciplined about tipping her hand on it, but it can't stay a secret forever now that the MUSH has started.
|Powers='''Mimicry...?''': Maya can access different, coherent suites of abilities, superpowers and physical artifacts through the study of written texts and the processing of this information into some kind of ''n''th-dimensional space she doesn't really understand. She has 'saved' two templates so far: a collection of powerful reflexive capabilities and destructive firearms ('The Gunslinger'), and a suite of destructive magics ('The Sorceress') collated from old works of fiction she used to pour over endlessly as a child. With renewed focus and determination, she's now trying to put together something else--but it's a slow process, compared to the reflexive adoption of her other two templates.

'''ARMs and gunplay''': Maya is a crack shot with a variety of firearms and has been seen effectively putting bullets into beasts and bad guys alike from atop horseback, on the run, leaping from a moving train, and occasionally also shooting while holding still and aiming carefully. She is known to possess a long-barreled 'anti-armor' pistol (Vantage Rage MM), a shotgun with two barrels (HS-07 Chevallier), and--perhaps most quizzically--a six-barreled rotary machine gun approx. 32 inches long and weighing approx. 39kg (AW-RSTN87 Heavy Cannon) and a man-portable missile launcher (MPGD-14 Recoilless Rifle). On more than one occasion, she has been seen summoning these weapons to hand from thin air, and not in a comical and wacky fashion, either.

'''Sorcerous Nonsense''': Maya has a sorcery-capable transformation in her toolbox, whose magic is about as subtle as a thermobaric weapon. Her spells are bombastic and neon-coloured, explosive and usually require catchy chants and spell-name shouting. She has no visible symbology tattoo or crest graphs in this form, which may have very bad ramifications further on down the line. What she lacks in subtlety, she makes up for in pure effective power, capable of punishment and protection in equal measure. Not to be taken lightly.

The eldest daughter of the Schrodinger family of old adventuring fame, Maya is an experienced Drifter who seems unafraid to confront the world's ills head-on. She is confident, kind, and brave, believing that the freedom and safety of the world's vulnerable is sacred. While she *claims* that she will gladly put her family's interests before those of temporary allies... this doesn't seem to be the case at all, as new wars and strange magics ripple through Filgaia and her once-selfish behaviours feel ever more foolish as the kindness of strangers pulls her back from the brink, time and time again. Maya's talents seem many and varied: she wields a strange and explosive brand of sorcery by times, and a variety of powerful ARMs by others. Yet, the more the cavalier young woman learns about her odd abilities and their origin, the less comfortable she feels bringing such powers to bear. Despite searching so fervently for an answer to the strange memories bubbling to the surface of her soul, she hesitates--after all, what if the answer is buried so deeply for a reason...?

Background

Powers and Abilities

Mimicry...?: Maya can access different, coherent suites of abilities, superpowers and physical artifacts through the study of written texts and the processing of this information into some kind of nth-dimensional space she doesn't really understand.

ARMs: Maya is a crack shot with a variety of firearms and has been seen effectively putting bullets into beasts and bad guys alike from atop horseback, on the run, leaping from a moving train, and occasionally also shooting while holding still and aiming carefully. She is known to possess a long-barreled 'anti-armor' pistol, a shotgun with two barrels, and--perhaps most quizzically--a six-barreled rotary machine gun approx. 32 inches long and weighing approx. 39kg and a man-portable missile launcher. On more than one occasion, she has been seen summoning these weapons to hand from thin air, kind of like technical sketches drawn with glowing ink and filled with the appropriate matter afterwards.

Magic: Maya has a sorcery-capable transformation in her toolbox, whose magic is about as subtle as a thermobaric weapon. Her spells are bombastic and neon-coloured, explosive and usually require catchy chants and spell-name shouting. She has no visible symbology tattoo or crest graphs in this form. What she lacks in subtlety, she makes up for in pure effective power, capable of punishment and protection in equal measure. Ask Descartes the ex-bandit lord about his stolen gear getting a giant icicle punched through its head.
