<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Virginia's... kind of in bad shape after her run-in with Malevolence -- by the time the two've gone back to the Schrodinger household, the rookie Drifter's just about out like a light. She spends the next hour writhing and tossing, rather clearly uncomfortable and struggling in her deep and disturbed sleep. Her injuries are... well, the injuries are pretty bad, but also fortunately, ultimately recoverable. Nothing irreplacable was damaged in the wake of the black blast that nearly consumed Maya. Still, Virginia was probably not going to get up and about in the next couple of days...

More's the pity that Maya doesn't have any books to channel the power of that'll let her turn all glowy like Sorey. Her curious magical tricks are pretty helpless before the Malevolence that has hurt poor Virginia.

So, with magical means out of the picture, there's little more the blonde can do for her guest-friend-not_girlfriend than make sure she's being tended to with the best remedies in the household. Which is an excuse to sit by her side and dab at her forehead with a cool cloth. She sure does look troubled, now, don't she?

Virginia trembles just a little, acting like she's feeling cold, then feverish the next. She's probably switched her garment -- which is likely in tatters now -- for a simpler gown to rest in, but eventually her eyes flutter open as she exclaims, "N--noo--!"

She pauses as her voice rings out across the room, then silence. She glances up, and her eyes focus as she sees Maya's. "Maya... where is this-- it's home?" She swallows. "Oh, you're okay!"

Ms. Maxwell has a comfy wool gown, yes, potentially even courtesy of her hosts. She's also in her bed at the Adlehyde residence, with the windows open and the breeze blowing in. "I'm--fine, yes." Maya replies with a little surprise, after Virginia's sudden awakening. "You're home with me. It's okay now."

Pat, pat. Dawwww.

Not even the taint of Malevolence could stop Virginia's face from turning into an adorable :3 as Maya pats her. B-baww! "E-ehe..." she sulks just a bit. "Thank you... for rescuing me. ... I really screwed up this time, huh?" She scratches her head frustratedly. "Daydreaming and-- running headlong into danger like that..."

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

There's some relief in Maya's voice that Virginia is alright, but the sting really isn't there regardless. "Running ahead like that wasn't a good move." she agrees, with a wry little smile. "And you were really spaced out. We couldn't reach you, half the time. Was something wrong?"

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Virginia places a hand on her head for a moment, with a quiet wince. "I feel like... I was led there..." a pause, as she shakes her head. "No, that's just an excuse. I was just being reckless..." That just sounds stupid. Who gets led places by their dreams? And even if she was dreaming, she couldn't remember a damn thing about its contents, so it's not like she could even share anything. "Sorry... I just thought-- I could be of help to you... you know, after I heard about what happened at Port Timney. I feel bad for not showing up."

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

Maya returns the cool, damp cloth to Virginia's forehead. Clearly, the girl is still a bit dazed and in need of care, isn't she? "We need to iron that out of you, someday." she doesn't pull any punches on that front, but by the same token, she's not being very harsh about it. "Besides, it's... good that you weren't there at the port."

Now, though, the older girl looks troubled. A glance away to the window. "It was more chaotic, violent, scary..." <Public> Wedding Dress says, "I can tell you that while the word 'eerily' is often used to describe carnies, it has never done so in the contect of the word 'peaceful'" <Public> Gwen Whitlock says, "Truth"

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Virginia flinches just a bit, lowering her head. It doesn't sound harsh, but it's a cold dose of truth. "... which-- is all the more reason I wanted to be there to help you!" She pumps her hands and-- winces, her face turning into a blubbering mess for a moment as she goes, "Ow, ow, ow, my chest!"

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

Maya isn't wearing her cloak and pauldrons inside, at least, but she is still wearing her headband and tunic and adventuring gear otherwise. No time to change and relax? She gently puts a hand to Virginia's shoulder and urges her to lie back down slowly, "Tha~at's enough of that, Miss Maxwell." she cautions her. "You're awfully hurt, and need to take it easy!"

Oh yeah... sorcerer-mode.

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Virginia leans back, before she gets the chance to kinda gather her thoughts and -- gawk just a little. "Oh yeah! Wow, what's with the magic, Maya, and your outfit too! That's so amazing, I didn't know you had a talent for both ARMs and spells!" Her eyes are just about as big as dinnerplates, bedazzled at the only Schrodinger's many talents.

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

Haah~... the cat had to get let out of the bag sometime, didn't it? And Maya doesn't look like she minds too much, sitting back in her chair with one leg folded over the other, fingers tapping together in her lap. "I'm ready for anything, of course, isn't that what you've come to expect from me?" she has a little puff of cattish pride about it, even. "And since our foe is vile and sorcerous, well...!"

Not at all because you can't access your other bag of tricks for a while. Nope. Not it.

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Virginia seems to be willing to believe it hook, line and sinker, at least. "You should've told me! All I can do is kooky stuff with some weird thingama-doodads I found," she looks around for her Crests, doesn't spot it, and then promptly gives up. "Nothing grand like what you can do, with all of that-- incantation, all of that stuff!" She waves her hand. "You looked so cool!"

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

"Well. My father was a powerful sorcerer, after all, it's only natural that I have a few unique tricks of my own." Maya non-answers with a playful flick of her hair, "And it's good not to show all your cards too quickly! You should feel honoured to have seen the Schrodinger school of magic, uhuhu~..."

The jovial laughter and the knowing grins and all that slowly fade, and Maya soon leans back forward with her elbows on her knees. "Your own little... tricks, they're not so little. You're more capable than you look, okay?"

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Virginia is stunned--!! She didn't know that Maya's father was a powerful sorcerer. She can only hope that her dad is similarly weird, like maybe being a solid holographic light projection of a ghost... dad! Ha ha ha ha. Here, Virginia, rub some ghost muscle on your joints.

"... you say that, but... I still feel like I'm getting in everyone's way..." Virginia mumbles, her head tilted just exactly at the right angle and downwards inclination to convey Sadness.

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

"You need to focus... and be more careful, that's true. But if you let it get you down, then you're gonna find it hard to start learning." Maya lectures gently, and of course, cups Virginia's chin in her hand and forces her to look up at her instead of being Sad and Down! This harsh but fair girl!!

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

W-whoaaa!! The romantic chin cup, only done by experts of romance! Virginia's face turns just a bit red as she looks up towards Maya, breath taken away just a little. "M-Maya..." t-thump, her heart goes thump thump thump, hopefully that's not anything bad. "You're right. I need to focus..."

She twiddles her thumbs softly, not making any motion to pull herself away. "I guess I... I've always felt weird hunches of a kind, and so I just run off and try to find whatever's at the end of that. That's how I even left home in the first place, after all."

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

What a yuri moment. Neither of them is doing anything to make it less of one, either.

Maya's focus is on Virginia's recovery, for now, and so eventually returns her head to her pillow and pats her on the head again. "Hmm... hunches? You seem to have very good luck, so it makes sense. Tell me a little about them?"

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

"It's... it's really hard to explain," Virginia murmurs. "I just have-- vivid... wonderful dreams, sometimes scary, sometimes not... and for a long time, I feel like they've guided me," she explains gently. She puts a hand to her forehead and says, "Oftentimes I'd wake up and go 'I'm going to do this now!' cause a dream gave me a hunch... weird, huh?"

A pause. "But that's not really an excuse... I don't really know what came over me. You're right, I was really distracted... I felt like I was getting sucked into that cave."

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

"And if you can't follow your dreams, there's no point to calling yourself a Drifter..." Maya muses gently, her eyes on Virginia the whole time. It sounds like she agrees, sitting next to her on the bed and nodding gently as she listens!

"But--I'd never seen you all spaced out and sleepwalking like that before. There's following your dreams, and then there's /that/. I wonder if that vile magic just messes you up by proximity..." the expert of the pair muses with a frown, hand to her chin.

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

There's a quiet flinch as Virginia gasps and holds her chest again, like a painful episode has just returned. She writhes just for a moment, before sighing in relief. "... I don't really know the first thing about it... but if that's what-- that weird creature is, those creepy crawlies, I'm really scared. I've never heard of, read or seen anything creepy and otherworldly like that!"

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

Maya's grip on Virginia's shoulder is firm as the girl shows signs of suffering, and shaking. "Yeah... I've never seen anything like it, either." she muses darkly, breathing a sigh of relief all the same once the fit is done. "It's all... wrong. Weird. Really spooks me out a little."

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Virginia just throws her arms around Maya for companionship and closeness, out of a sense of neediness and fear. God, they're gay. "... world's a lot bigger than I thought it'd be. Seeing a lot of things that I never thought I would... makes me wonder if I'm flying too close to the sun..." A-aww, she sounds so terrified...

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

What a shock! Virginia is latching onto Maya for comfort? Waow! Of course, it's a good host's duty to care for her guest, and so the only logical recourse is for the Schrodinger girl to wrap her arms around the rookie drifter and tug her close to where it's safe and warm. "Hey, Virginia..."

Gasp! Calling her by name, to boot. "Everyone had to start somewhere. It's scary and dangerous, and it's okay to feel upset. Your first steps are gonna feel like that."

                                 Gaaaaaaay.

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Somewhere, the three retainers of Schrodinger share a smirk with each other, perhaps in the midst of their card game or whatever it is Todd Dukakis, Shady Thousand and the younger Schrodinger (... you know, there's two Schrodingers, now that I think about it) get up to.

"... I'll learn, okay?" Virginia begs. "Just-- just don't let me go, and I'll learn and, I'll learn to be useful to you... I just want to be useful to you..." she sniffles.

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

Yes, there's actually two kids. It's just that one of them is a shota in the background, who is also a pyromaniac.

Anyway, Maya looks a little flustered at that proclamation from her friend Ginny. "I--I'm not gonna kick you out after inviting you in!" she squawks cutely, Very Straightly giving the poor girl a reassuring pat on the back. "Hmmph, does Maya Schrodinger sound like a heartless rogue to /you/?"

The canon train completely derails into a pond labled "shoujou-ai". Oh well.

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Virginia sniffles just a bit louder, rubbing at her eyes. "N-no, but... I mean, I don't know how it works, geez! I've seen people get fired for screwing up, you know!" Her eyes are wet and glistening with tears. "I don't know how it works at all..."

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

Oh, no! Virginia's turned on the wetworks, and I guess Maya is very weak to these sorts of things, so she just continues patting her on the back and being a big post for the weepy girl to lean on.

"I--I knew what I was getting into when I said I'd help you learn the ropes!" she tries to be huffy and decisive. Tries. "So don't... cry, okay?"

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

"Y-yay..." Virginia manages to squeak out something approximating relief as she rubs at her eyes again, then leans into Maya's hand just a little. "Hehe, it-- it feels good to be said I did good, so I'll try my hardest to get that praise from you..." she sniffs up and pumps. "I know it doesn't come easy...!"

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

What a curious turn of events this all is. Maya finally puts Virginia at arm's length once more, since she appears to be recovering. "Heh, you've got that right!" she crows proudly, an exacting smile on her face. "But if you're learning from me, you're gonna be the best in no time. Besides--you hauled me outta the fire in there, I owe you one."

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Virginia tilts her head and says, "It was all instinct... you looked like you were in trouble, and I couldn't just stand there and do nothing. Even if it's-- kind of a stupid thing to do in the end... it's just something I knew I had to do!"

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

Maya has a quirky smile at Virginia again, and glances at her sidelong after shuffling to sit next to the girl. "Kind of a stupid thing to do, hmm... maybe? Bravery is a curious thing. But sometimes, it's okay, too. Beats being a coward in my books."

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Virginia rubs the back of her head and has one of those 'hehehe...' cute expressions. "So, when did you learn magic? Or is that a trade secret? I admit I've never really trained in magic before, Uncle Tesla's always tried teaching me but I never... got the hang of it." Says the one who's kind of just picking up Crests and hucking them around like they're nothing.

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

Maya scratches her cheek and gives an honest answer: "I studied very hard as a kid. Actually, heh, most of what I did as a kid was study." which is true, it's just that she studied pulp manga and it became reality. Best leave that part out.

"You seem pretty talented at it, though. Never got the hang of it? You were doing some complex admixture in the cave..."

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

"Wow... yeah, I believe it," Virginia nods in turn. "I was a really naughty kid, so I never really hit the books all that much... even when my mother tried to sit me down, I'd find some way to sneak out." She giggles and rubs at the back of her head again. "Eh, is it really that complex? I just kinda... I don't know! It's like the dreams. I just do what feels right, and then out it goes!"

<Pose Tracker> Maya Schrodinger has posed.

Ugh, that kind of natural talent... to be fair, it's the kind of natural talent Maya /pretends/ she has.

"To think what you'd be capable of, if you sat down and focused on it..." she muses with a wry smirk, but not an unfriendly one.

<Pose Tracker> Virginia Maxwell has posed.

Virginia blinks a few times, before giggling to say, "Ahh, I'm not like a crazy prodigy or anything! In fact, I swear the more I try to think about things, the more tangled up and useless they become. I just need to rely on beginner's luck, is all!"

She tries stretching her legs, and says, "Uuuh--" she holds her head again. "I just realised how hungry I am. Hey, did you eat yet?"
