| PRE-EVENT SUMMARY: | Following aborted investigation of site and pitched combat with Metal Demons, received orders to reconvene with 2LT Ortell. Conditions included heavy bombardment from multiple sides (Aveh, Kislev, Metal Demon); engagement from hostiles (Metal Demon); traps and other temple hazards; uncertain entities ('Guardians') |
| EVENT SUMMARY: | Temple was trap-ridden and difficult to explore effectively; injuries ensued. I had the sense they were meant for the purpose of a test as opposed to the bloodthirsty traps met in other ruin locations.
Further details on 'Guardians' as follows: Despite earlier reports on 'Guardians' as mythological beings, I can confirm that they exist, for some definition of exist. What they really are, I do not know, save that their presence -- for lack of a better word for the experience -- in the chamber we found ourselves in was enormous. They also hinted at my true origin and perhaps the origins of others present in the room. We were beseeched to justify our receipt of their blessing in comparison to earlier people on the planet; despite various explanations it appears we failed to meet their standards. However, it appears they decided to bestow it regardless, urging all of us to defend Filgaia and struggle against the Metal Demons to the last breath. |

| COMMENTS: | Did not locate Lt. Ortell until after exit from temple; support mission a failure. However, became involved with group of Drifters within temple; certain individuals may be of interest. Encounter with entities named 'Guardians' by surface-dwellers (as referenced in section 34.7c: Religious Beliefs of Surface Natives in the Cultural Division summary and overview report for newly-appointed officers).
