SCENE LOG: A Village Seized By Life
LOCATION: Lost Village Fereshte
PARTICIPANTS: 2LT Voss, Lan Lilac, Gwen Whitlock
RELICS RECOVERED: Enchanted Thread (strong, super-light silver thread)
PRE-EXPLORATION SUMMARY: Information gathered after arrival in Elru indicated that an odd phenomenon has been observed in the steppes regarding a believed-extinct tribe of Elru Baskar (specifically, that the extinct tribe still existed when it was reported to have been eliminated, potentially by the Veruni); given assistance of Lilac and proximity of location to Metal Demon territory of control an investigation was launched. Further help was obtained in the form of known POI and useful individual (report with update forthcoming) Gwen Whitlock.
EXPLORATION SUMMARY: Access to site was initial blocked by a sort of auroral barrier; once breached we were able to enter the grounds of the village. Temperate was markedly though not abnormally higher than surrounding terrain. Encountered horses upon approach; horses were afflicted by butterfly-shaped tumors and discharged electricity. We also encountered an animate corpse of an apparent Veruni operative: again, the butterfly mark was noted. Within the village we noted several inhabitants performing apparent rote tasks and behaviors: again, the butterfly mark was observed. Changing non-harmful stimuli (e.g. choice of food) did not evoke a response. We also encountered hostile rabbits branded with the same butterfly mark and possessed of noted magical talents. Within one large tent we found a mirror; from this mirror apparent duplicates of ourselves emerged -- this may have been an illusory magical effect of some type as once the mirror was jostled it ceased. Retrieved unusual thread from premises but made no other gains as far as investigations into behavior observed in the village.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Further investigation of site recommended. Perhaps root cause of site could be utilized against the demons -- but more likely the affliction could be a threat if it can spread from the site. Thread sample has been packaged and submitted to labs for further analysis.
