  • Summary: Ammy relaxes on the beaches after the Photosphere battle, but Talia brings home an explosive guest one day...

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

The Festina Lente is currently...

... parked out on a nice stretch of Port Timney's beaches, suspiciously puffed up around its bottom hem with what looks like remnants of an inflatable raft?

A FEW WEEKS AGO

The Festina Lente is afloat on the seas between Elru and Ignas in the wake of its escape from the Photosphere. A puffy orange raft has been padded around it which somehow makes it... buoyant enough to keep above the waters, until--

  • PSHHH*

"I think we're slowly sinking," Ammy announces as the Tainted around her stare and look agog.

"I'm metal! I can't swim!" "I don't want to die!"

An extremely skinny Tainted at the back stands up at the call of destiny. He is literally a bilge pump.

NOW

Amaranth talked a big game about wanting to make a mock bank-robbery, but on balance, really, after the life-threatening things they all went through?? She's just happy to be back on solid ground, reclining against a stretcher outside. She's dressed a bit more lightly, with a button-down blouse tied at her midriff with a sarong covering her legs, and with the straw hat to finish it off she looks like she could be content to just doze off the weeks away....

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

In Talia's mind, the mock bank robbery can wait. None of them will have their lives worsened by a little rest and relaxation. Even if her tendency to look for adventure -- and gella -- has led her to a couple of dungeons already. Case in point, she stepped off a boat earlier, with a potted plant in her hands. It is a lovely flower, with a big blue bulb in the center. Blue leaves curl off to each side.

Strangely, Talia has an umbrella driven down into the soil of the pot, as if to keep it shaded. This might seem counterintuitive. After all, plants need light.

She steps up to the Festina Lente, coming to a stop as she sees her girlfriend -- decked out as she is in lazing garb -- and she smiles, brightly, before she strides closer. "Oh, Ammy!" she says. "I am sorry I am late, no? The ship was not so cooperative."

She holds out the pot. "But I brought you a present!"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Amaranth perks up just a little, scrunchied hair bobbling a little as she lifts up and pulls her sunglasses off to one side. One might wonder why a Seraph of Darkness particularly needs sunglasses when they can just shade their eyes, and the reason is why Ammy does anything the way Ammy does: fashion

"Talia!" she smiles and holds her arms out for a hug--

--and immediately retracts it when she stares at the plant. "... what... is that."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"It is a flower!"

In truth, it is a kind of ugly flower. There are a few little scraggly red petals sticking up from the big, blue bulb in the center. That bulb is eerily round, too. Talia places it down between them.

Then, she looks up, and grins: "Ammy, it is a flower that makes /bombs/. It spits them out when it gets enough light!"

Her red eyes light up as she talks and there is a slight cackle to her voice, because on some level, she will always be the person who tried to take Seraph Lanval's wallet when he looked passed out. Sometimes, she just wants to get into trouble.

"It is my new friend," she says. "I have named it Queen Anastasia."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Now let's be clear here, Ammy has nothing against ugly flowers. Her namesake isn't the most photogenic species as well, and kind of tends to droop and sprawl all over the place not unlike a certain Seraph too.

... guu ...

Her expression is--

well

I mean

How do you even react to your girlfriend going 'i have a flower that makes bombs' to you out of the blue

"Are we... are we leaving Queen Anastasia here in the Festina Lente? That sounds like it might be a blaze of disaster..."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

Talia stares, blankly, for five seconds at Amaranth.

Yes, she /absolutely/ intended to leave Queen Anastasia at the Festina Lente. No, she is not about to fess up to that. She sees the look on her face. She sees that it is not one of raw excitement.

"W--Well!" Talia laughs. "Not... not /permanently/, no--ah--I thought..." She scratches at the back of her head. "...that perhaps Queen Anastasia could see if... she likes it there, but she may want to come with me, and..."

She stumbles over her words, her face turning red with embarrassment.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Amaranth pauses as she envisions living with a bomb plant in her home.

Maybe she could clear the coffee table and couches and move them across to the open-air patio under the skylight like she always wanted. And with that space, maybe she could work a deal with Queen Bomb Plant and... and...

... have a puzzle corner in her very own home...

oooh...

She shakes her head for a moment and-- grins to say, "... I think we can make it work."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"R-Really?" Talia asks, her expression lighting up. A touch of something like, but not quite, innocence enters it. She doesn't usually get to bring something new to someone's house.

"We could do that! And, ah, she doesn't usually cough up bombs unless you shine light right on her, no?" she asks, looking down at Queen Anatasia. The plant merely sits there, straight and unmoving, for it is a plant. Talia pats it on the top of the bulb.

"She is well behaved," Talia says.

She flashes a grin. "I did not know Filgaia had such things! It was a cave full of them, though."

[OOC] Seraph Amaranth says, "haha yeah fair enough"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

"How has that cave not collapsed on itself?" is the first thing out of Amaranth's mouth as she sits up just a little more upright and leans her hand out to try to pat it... before she retracts her hand.

Maybe she's envisioning it growing a maw of teeth a little too strongly right now.

"Does it uhm-- can you just... carry some bombs with you out of it? Like as if we had an apple tree, except with bombs? It'd be terribly convenient to just make a little garden out of it..."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"Well... it does not, that I can tell, no? When it makes the bombs, they pop out and rattle and glow--ah, and then they explode!" Talia says, making a motion with her hands cupped and flying outward, to indicate the act of exploding. It sort of works.

"Ah, but... I wonder if we could cultivate some that do not? Maybe convince Queen Anastasia to make bombs that do not?"

Talia's understanding of horticulture may have several holes in it.

She taps a finger against her chin. "I will see if there are books on the subject. If not...maybe I will need to invest in a better, more secure pot for her, or something like that..."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Amaranth pauses for a moment. "So we have to be careful to not... have it pop out, or have anyone pull the fruit off the stem, so to speak?"

She laughs just a wee bit more nervously and says, "I-- think we can make it work. And a bombplant doesn't sound like the most dangerous thing we've done with our house in the last couple of weeks."

'Our' house?

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"Mm-hm! And to not have it in direct light. Queen Anastasia is fine with darkness! I found her in a cave," Talia says. In a way, that makes it a miracle plant -- one that can grow in a dark areas, on hard soil. The shame of it was that that the fruit would blow you up instead of taste delicious.

She nods, and then she scratches at the back of her head. "It is true, it is not a thousand year-old flying steel fortress of doo--"

She pauses. Her red eyes blink, a few times.

The playful smile on her face shifts, ever so slightly, into one that is equal parts nervous, shy, and happy. A little voice whispers that it's a dangerous idea, to have someone think that she can share that with her. Talia tries her best to ignore it.

"Our house?"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

"It's-- it's all right," speaks Amaranth at the warning, by now, that -- yep, don't leave it in direct light. "You know I've been thinking of raising plants that grow in the dark anyway. You know like how-- they say to keep potatoes in the dark?"

She might just kind of be talking nonsense to make it sound more palatable.

She looks towards Talia as she bites her lip and-- chuckles more faintly. "Look at us. We're casually talking about having survived an open battlefield."

A pause.

"Our house. You know you're-- welcome here anytime, right? Except, except, if it's leaking and slowly bubbling away to the bottom of the Arctican ocean, you might want to wait then," oh no ammy is babbling cutely

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"Potatoes in the dark? Well... I /do/ think glow in the dark plants would be very fun, no?" Talia asks, with a wink. She tilts her head, and flashes a smile. There is a nod, too.

"Our second open battlefield," she says. She doesn't say a lot more; she was on the other side of the first one. She doesn't want to dwell there.

She would rather dwell on the idea that the Festina Lente is hers, too. She watches Ammy babble, and then laughs softly. Talia takes a couple of steps closer, before pulling her into that belated hug. "I know," she says. "We will try to keep it from sinking to the bottom of a cold ocean. It is... nice, knowing I can come here, no?"

She pulls back to look at Ammy's face, rather than have her head over her shoulder. "...It is still a new thing. I am trying to get used to it. I like it, though."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Glow in the dark plants... that could be incredible in time for this year's Hallow's Eve, thinks Amaranth for a moment, before she's summarily distracted by the wink and smile.

"... mm," she nods. A pause, as she gestures and-- lets Talia hug her, moving herself to one side as she scootches along her recliner to let Talia lie down if she will. "... I'm working through things myself. And sometimes Nimue barges in with a sackful of horse jerky and I still don't know what to do with it," she grumblingly chuckles.

"But... I like it too."

She pauses about to move closer, but stares at Queen Anastasia.

Queen Anastasia sits still.

(the Kill Bill siren starts playing as Amaranth gets into a sidelong staring contest with a bomb)

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

Talia slips into the recliner easily enough; she has that almost unnatural grace, still, and that lets her get in without bumping Ammy out of it. Or even jostling her too much. She sighs, happily. "Nimue? Your other sister?"

She pauses. "Jerky? Well... I'll have some, no?"

She still needs to meet Nimue. And, properly, thank Ragnell. Talia tables those thoughts, though -- she isn't really trying to think about siblings right now. She spares a glance at Queen Anastasia. Then she looks back, and tugs Ammy over with her arm.

"I could stand to take more time off, no? Rest after saving the world." She winks again. "And your furniture is all so comfy, too~"

She is oblivious to the sirens inside Amaranth's mind.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Amaranth has to pause as to whether or not to acknowledge that. There are honestly terribly legitimate reasons why she might be feeling a bit sore, with what's gone down between them? Except in the end Nimue's still a precious person to her and she wouldn't want to see her get hurt or anything so--

"Yeah," she chuckles faintly. "She's a handful and a half, but she's a lot of fun. I've got some in the jar on the top shelf if you want to take some later."

A pause for a moment, as she gets jostled from her staring contest with A Bomb and looks back to Talia, laughing just a bit more.

"I try my hardest to make it a lovely place to come back to!"

Inwardsly, she's glad that she doesn't own a cat, because the cat toppling the bomb plant into the path of one of her skylights...

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"I think I will," Talia says, with a sigh. Would Nimue mind? She isn't sure. She isn't sure that she would want to ask, though. Taking jerky is a mostly harmless thing. She cracks a smile, a little wider than before.

She nudges herself until she can lean her cheek atop Ammy's head, because it seems fun. Her arm stays around her shoulders, though.

"It is a very wonderful place to come back to," she says.

A moment later, though, and she adds a question: "You do not mind, when I go out and get myself into a little trouble? I.. well, I like being able to explore. And wander around. And see things. It is so new, that I can do it for me. And... when I do catch up to Ivan, I want to have a lot to tell him."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

"If there's a constant, it's that you can constantly keep Nimue at bay with enough food and snacks," Amaranth laughs very softly and looks up just a little at where Talia's cuddling her with her cheek. It's a lot of fun, to be certain.

"I'm-- I'm not, really! The last thing I want to do is to be jealous and want to make you feel like you're-- having to stay behind and miss out on things."

The last time that happened jealousy literally turned her into a proto-Dragon. Kind of. It wasn't a good time.

"And you can tell me all about the places you visit, just as long as you promise to come back..."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"Food and snacks, hm? We'll have to keep a good supply, then." Talia laughs, a little, but she quiets down.

Could it make Amaranth jealous? She wonders about that. She has learned enough to know that, while the Seraph can certainly fight if she must, it is draining for her -- and Malevolence is a danger to Ammy. She learned a little about that already. She remembers what happened in Lastonbell.

Her eyes turn down for a moment, before she nods. "I understand. I will come back, no? It would take a lot to keep me from doing that." She winks again. "And you can come, sometimes, too. Ah, when it is safe or fun or..."

Her face scrunches up. She isn't sure how to put this. "...when it's what you feel you must do, no?"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Amaranth has posed.

Amaranth pauses a little, then nods for a moment as she smiles wider to say, "When I feel I must, yes. And-- don't worry, just because I don't want to make the adventuring life a constant doesn't mean--"

She winks, "--I won't be there to help you if it truly does go bad, like in Azado."

A pause, as she clears her throat and melts down a little bit afterwards. "Until then... I'm glad for this. For all the places you're able to visit, and everything new you can take in."

A longer pause.

"Even if it does bring bomb plants back home."

<Pose Tracker> Talia has posed.

"I know. I have no doubt that you will be right behind me, when it counts," Talia says. She cocks her head to the side, not quite winking, but her expresson is a little playful. "...I am still getting used to that, too, no?"

From all of the friends she has made.

She looks down at Ammy, though, when she melts a little into the recliner. She laughs a little, nodding her head. "I will bring something besides bomb plant royalty in the future, I promise! Besides, I /did/ bring other, nicer things."

She leans over and kisses Ammy, right on cue.

And then, if someone had an illusion that moment was anything resembling smooth, Talia ruins it by giving Queen Anastasia a thumbs-up.
