  • Summary: The legally distinct children who make up Young ARMS are searching for a dog. Marivel, Clarine and Tio help. Lessons are learned.

<Pose Tracker> Marivel Armitage has posed.

Marivel Armitage sometimes visits Meria City. It's true! She goes for baked goods (donuts) and sometimes to bother the TYKES of Meria City. You know, the orphans. Two such orphans are

            TONY STARK AND SCOTT SUMMERS

Who are absolutely not Marvel properties but are two rapscallion orphans that live in Meria City! They compose the group known as YOUNG ARMS alongside Tim Rhymeless who is, shockingly, also not a marvel property.

Marivel has asked Clarine for help with these three kids and invited Tio to come along though, really, it's her choice! No pressure Tio!

"I don't know," Tony is saying. "We've already looked in the square and we haven't seen Charles anywhere."

"Mmm....but he couldn't have gone far, in my humble opinion." Scott replies.

Marivel is hanging back, allowing the kids to solve whatever it is they're talking about in their own way. "Charles," Marivel explains to Clarine. "Is a stray dog. Still pretty young though in dog years, he's older than those three."

Tim is being quiet so far, playing the tagalong.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Clarine has posed.

Clarine could often be found in Meria City when she wasn't exploring or taking care of any number of matters. So, when Marivel asked her for help looking after Young ARMS, Clarine readily agreed. They were Kamui's friends, after all, and besides that it meant hanging out with friends of her own.

And so it is that she glides alongside Marivel as they walk, hanging back with her.

"I see..." Clarine murmurs, nodding to herself as she stows this information away. "He is likely able to fend for himself - however, I do hope he is alright."

She liked animals. As a nature spirit of sorts, she tended to get along pretty well with them for the most part.

<Pose Tracker> Tio has posed.

Tio is still not good at the distinction of 'invitation' and 'order', except in that the people in ARMS she's dealt with seem to be very good at not giving the latter. Still, with the invitation offered, Tio has decided to come along.

At the moment, Tio is watching the trio as they discuss the important matter of an absent dog. The automaton tilts her head and looks to Clarine and Marivel. "Should I attempt to calibrate my sensors for canine life forms?" She asks, in an attempt to be useful. But for all she knows, Young ARMS has a plan.

They don't look like they have a plan, admittedly, but they might have one.

The automaton follows along after Clarine and Marivel as they move. She's not been to Meria City much, apart from one experience at the festival. The safe approach seems to be to follow familiar faces.

<Pose Tracker> Marivel Armitage has posed.

Tony skids to a stop and looks too Tio. "Sensors? Calibrate...?" His eyes widen. "Oh! You must be like Kamui! Nice!!" He gives her a thumbsup. "Yeah! We could use your cool sensors! We're going to find a lost dog and make sure he's okay! For we..."

He does a dramatic pose by swinging his arm into the air. "Are the YOUNG ARMS...!"

Scott Summers and Tim don't do a cool pose.

"Aw cc'mon guys..."

"In my humble opinion, we really haven't decided on good poses yet." Scott Summers says.

Tony, looking distraught, gazes back at Marivel.

Marivel smiles pleasantly at Tony and throws her hand up into the air. "Yooouung AAAARRMMS...!" She declares.

Tony's eyes sparkle and he says, "Yesss!" He doesn't seem to be quite able to see Clarine as of yet, though Scott Summers--perhaps thanks to his SPECIAL VISO--HEADBAND and Tim Rhymeless do a bit of a doubletake at Clarine's presence. "Thanks Miss," Tim says. Tony assumes he's talking to Marivel thre.

"With these ones," Marivel murmurs to Clarine. "You can pretty much let them do what they want, only stepping in when they're about to do something dangerous. They're good kids."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Clarine has posed.

Canine tracking sensors... This seems like a very useful power. Clarine looks toward Tio as she makes the suggestion, and then back to Tony as he makes his DRAMATIC POSE.

...Clarine can't help but chuckle a little at the reaction he gets, but it's entirely good-natured.

And then, it looks like two of them notice her! She's had her suspicions that Tim, at the very least, could see her, but this is the first time either of them have reacted to her presence before. She smiles, and offers the two of them a wave and a polite bow.

"You are very welcome." She replies, before looking toward Marivel with a nod.

"Yes, that is what I have gathered, as well." She agrees with a nod.

<Pose Tracker> Tio has posed.

Tio gives a nod. "I am similar to Sister, yes. My name is Tio. It is good to meet you." See, she's been working on introductions! She is, however, seemingly unmoved by the power of dramatic poses. Tio does, however, note the reaction to Clarine's presence. It hadn't occurred to Tio that Clarine's presence would warrant surprise, so she's looking behind the Seraph for something ominous and surprising.

    She doesn't see it.

After a moment of looking back, she turns toward Tony. "Affirmative. I will activate my sensors." Tio's antennae glow blue, and then start flashing a number of different colours. It's a tiny lightshow! And then, she speaks up.

"I detect forty canines in a two square mile radius." Maybe... not that useful a power...

<Pose Tracker> Marivel Armitage has posed.

"W...we have that many dogs in Meria?! Ahhh! We'll never find the right one!" Tony says, stumbling backwards in an exagerated manner.

"In my humble opinion, perhaps we would be better served to try luring dogs to us...?" Scott adds.

"That's pretty amazing though." Tim says. "It would be a really useful power for a dog walker..." He gives another glance towards Clarine and waves shyly but ultimately keeps to himself. He's a bit of a shy one. And also not a Marvel Property.

"Hm... But even if you could lure dogs to you, it would work for any dog." Marivel considers. "So that wouldn't work either. if you are really determined to find Charles, you might need to check each dog recorded in Tio's sensors until you find the right one..."

Tony nods firmly. "Yeah! We can get some sausages so they come out of hiding...! We don't have to check for dogs in buildings either so..."

His eyes sparkle in Marivel's direction. She sighs briefly and purchases a nice cartoon length of sausages, offering it out to Tony.

"So I've been wondering, Clarine... Now that you have been to the shrine a few times, how do you feel?" She must mean the shrine of DARKNESS. "It feels you've handedly faced your fear to me."

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Clarine has posed.

Clarine is momentarily mesmerised by the way Tio's antennae glow blue, and then start flashing repeatedly. She's a Light Seraph - of course she's going to be fascinated.

"F-forty? My...I did not realise there were so many of them in Meria City." Clarine says with surprise. She listens, then, as they try to reason out a way to locate Charles

"You may end up attracting a good number of dogs... but on the other hand, this is not entirely a bad thing." Clarine observes, in regards to their plan. But, she sits back, and lets them handle the situation themselves. Instead, she looks toward Marivel as she asks her question.

Clarine doesn't answer the question right away. Instead she looks upward toward the sky as she thinks it over.

"I think... it is not something I will ever be fully free of - my fear of the darkness. But...it has helped me become...at peace with it, I suppose is the best way to put it. If that makes sense." Clarine replies. "I may fear it, but I need not face it alone. And with that knowledge, it becomes easier to deal with. I need only think of those who support me."

<Pose Tracker> Tio has posed.

The sensors flash again, and Tio speaks again. "I now detect forty one canines." One more must have just wandered into range. But then the master plan of 'Sausages' comes into vision, and Tio blinks as Marivel just... makes some manifest. "...Will that be enough to lure them all out?" She asks, tentatively. "We should not lure them with food without providing sufficient for them to eat."

Tio is, evidently, all in for operation dog hunt. "What does Charles look like? I will be able to assist better if I can identify him."

Tio pauses at Clarine's comments. "...A fear of darkness is understandable." Tio says, quietly. "I do not like darkness either." Some vague hint of a memory? Or just the state she was in when she was held by Neriah?

<Pose Tracker> Marivel Armitage has posed.

Marivel Armitage purchased the sausages. She does not have a Red Skill of 'Summon Sausage'.

...For now. In the future, who knows? JRPGS are weird.

"Darkness. Tis a spooky substance indeed. Few are fond of it, and fewer of those who are fond of it have noble intent. At least these days."

Marivel lowers her head for a moment. "Still, I suppose... tis not easy to get over one's hangups. Even for people like us. Mayhaps especially people like us."

"All the more impressive then." She continues. "That you can be so clear minded about it." She looks over to Clarine and beams. "I'm happy for you. To be so strong and gentle at the same time..."

She laughs a bit. "Well. Tis no contradiction."

MEANWHILE

"Maybe that one is Charles! Lets go!" Tony rushes ahead with the sausages.

"Mm, perhaps, perhaps not. We can get more sausage if we need to but we honestly shouldn't give them too much sausage anyway... Just small bits and pieces." Marivel answers Tio. "Like that, its doable."

Scott Summers pushes up his headband. "In my humble opinion, Tony will lose us if we are not careful."

Marivel seems surpirsed at Tio's own words and she nods once to her. "Mm. Tio, now that tis just Clarine and we... do you remember fighting us back when you were under Valmar's control? Was that...like being in darkness?"

She seems curious about Tio's experiences. Maybe she still feels a bit guilty for her original instinct.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Clarine has posed.

A forty-first canine! There really are a good number of them. Clarine looks over to Tio as she asks about the plan, and gives her own advice on the matter.

"I do wish them luck in finding their friend..." Clarine says.

Marivel beams at her and Clarine can't help but beam back. She brightens - only a touch, though, out of thoughtfulness for Marivel. Still, the pride directed her way makes her happy.

"Thank you... it pleases me to hear that." She replies, pleased. "I am...glad, that you feel that way."

She looks toward Tio, as she expresses her own dislike of the darkness. She looks upon her with a sympathetic smile.

"...Should you ever need someone to help brighten the darkness for you, I will be here. You need only to ask." She offers. It was something she could understand and sympathise with, whatever it stemmed from.

She looks between Marivel and Tio, then, as the former asks her question. She can't help but be curious about the answer.

<Pose Tracker> Tio has posed.

Tio shakes her head. "I do not remember." She seems to take a few moments to think on it. "There are moments when I remember things, but not when the Claw was fighting." She can't help but think that's a disappointing answer.

"I remember that woman, and her creatures, and the darkness." That seems to be the extent of her memories. "I think... when I woke up in the Chateau, it was the first time I had seen light in a long time." That's how it seems, anyway. It's a bit hard for her to trust her memories, given other people seem to know more about her than she herself does.

"Thank you," she responds to Clarine, "but please do not inconvenience yourself for my sake. It is my duty to aid Master and Master's friends."

Tio's sensors blink again. "Multiple canines converging on Tony's location." She says, and looks ahead.

<Pose Tracker> Marivel Armitage has posed.

Marivel briefly looks flustered and quickly turns her gaze. "Eheh. Of course. You have never given me reason to not think the best of you."

It seems Marivel has a bashful side though she quickly suppresses it.

"Mm." Marivel considers, mulling over Tio's words. "You know, Tio, it seems you've had some similar experiences as Clarine here." She smiles again. "I'm sure that if you were ever lost in darkness again...Clarine would arrive as quickly as she could to light your way." She closes her eyes a moment. "Heh, but she wouldn't be the only one."

She walks for a bit and adds, "You know, Tio. Though we are Eleanor friends... That does not mean that we are not also your friends. Of course, it's not neccessarily the case that we are friends either, but take Clarine here for instance. I imagine she would love to be your friend."

She does not say she herself would like to be Tio's friend--perhaps she does no truly feel she has earned such consideration from Tio as of yet.

"And of course Tony and the rest of 'Young ARMS' too."

Tio mentions multiple canines are converging on Tony's location and Marivel kind of looks away as if that has nothing to do with her.

FURTHER AHEAD.

"Ahhh!!!" Tony says, running back a bit, chased by a small army of dogs. "Helpppp! They keep jumping up!"

"Oh hey there's Charles." Tim says, noting the presence of a small dog with a missing leg that is still nevertheless hopping up excitedly for the sausages.

Marivel...doesn't move to help, instead watching Tio a bit.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Clarine has posed.

Clarine listens as Tio recounts her experiences. She can certainly sympathise with them - and nods, as Marivel comments on her own.

"Yes... for a long time, I was trapped in darkness. Imprisoned first in a lantern against my will, to light a mortal's path... and then next, in a temple of darkness, from which I could not escape without the help of Marivel, Kamui, and others." She smiles softly. "And that is why it would not be any inconvience to me to help you. It is not...quite the same, but... I can understand, at least somewhat. And I wish to do what I can to ensure others do not have to experience the same."

Marivel points out, though, that Clarine would love to be Tio's friend - and Clarine nods in agreement.

"Yes, absolutely!" She agrees.

Up ahead, Tony's plan seems to have gone off far, far, too well. Clarine watches with interest.

"They appear to be having fun." She observes. She also does not move to help.

<Pose Tracker> Tio has posed.

Tio blinks in response to Marivel. "I see." It's a bit hard for Tio to take in. But the fact that others would come for her... A small smile comes across Tio's face- possibly the first that she has shown to anyone since she has awoken. She doesn't seem to quite notice it herself.

And then the possibility is raised that they're her friends as well, and Tio looks up, back to her normal, unemotive expression. "But I am an automaton." She says, as if that explains the whole situation. "Is it possible to be 'friends' with a machine?"

<Pose Tracker> Marivel Armitage has posed.

"I don't see why not," Marivel says. "Some of my oldest friends are machines. And Kamui has lots of friends, and she is a machine. We can be friends with humans even though they are animal and even Crimson Nobles even though they are..."She glances to Clarine. "Smoke and mirrors."

TONY AND FRIENDS SUFFER, struggling to give off sausages to the pups one by one. Indeed, they are suffering so much they seem to be involuntarily exhaling in short bursts in a manner not so dissimilar to laughter.

Because it is laughter.

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Clarine has posed.

Clarine sees that smile on Tio's face, small as it is, but she doesn't point out. Her own becomes just a bit wider, though, at the sight of it.

"Yes... And I am a being of light and magic, invisible and intangible to most mortals... And yet, even I have been able to find friends among their kind." She says with a smile. "You do not have to hurry into it. You need only take it at your own pace, and perhaps someday you will realize it as well. Until then, and afterward, even, we will continue to treat you with kindness."

<Pose Tracker> Tio has posed.

The explanations are gentle, and also not something Tio can argue with. A part of her feels like she should be arguing with them, but... she doesn't. There's no logical argument she has that hasn't already been expertly disarmed by Marivel and Clarine. "I..." She seems to take a few moments, and nods.

"I do not fully understand," she says, finally, "but... I am prepared to try being friends. I apologise for any mistakes. I do not have any experience with friends." At least, as far as she remembers.
