There had been, again, no signs to be had.

The tinny song playing from her device is Amaterasu's sole companion as she inspects her armor components in the camp she's made. Some of her kin are able to infiltrate seamlessly into human societies and make use of their accommodations without incident. Were she still traveling to the north, she might have been able to make use of their... connections in Honeysday.

To the south, though, is a different matter. Her suit would stand out. So would her armaments. She had set forth into the field equipped to brave the wilderness and handily deal with its threats -- planetary or not -- in her search for her sister. It would not do to needlessly agitate or cause concerns when such can be avoided, particularly in the wake of the business in Harmonde. She is quite able to sustain herself for a long while even out in Filgaia's wastes.

Still, it means her creature comforts when traveling are small and largely constricted entirely to what she has available on the pocket device: this far from the Locus Solus and the earthbound cities of the Veruni to the west, she is well out of range of their media signals.

Only her communicator provides her with a direct link back home. With a little effort, she can route a channel through to just about anyone of note who is willing and able to speak with her.

Of course, out in the field, Amaterasu typically doesn't field many calls home -- not beyond her status reports. She has had little to report regarding what has become of Kaguya.

It would seem that there have been no surprise developments in the reverse, either. Kaguya has not spontaneously called home, either.

She sets down the piece of her armor she'd been inspecting, stretching out her long legs and gazing at the ceiling of her tent.

Amaterasu does not typically field calls homeward, no.

There had been an exception to the trend when she'd caught wind of an incident in Meria.

Shijie Rohay... had made a move.

As far as Amaterasu had been able to determine, it had not been sanctioned by the powers that be among the Radicals. It had not been sanctioned by anyone, it would seem, except Shijie Rohay herself.

But that was the issue at hand: Shijie Rohay numbers among the powers that be among the Radicals.

Making a bold stance on her own, requisitioning battleships... threatening the humans of Meria Boule. Yes, it was true, Rohay had made such a move to reclaim her kin and heir from the grip of the humans and return her to safe harbor.

But that move had risked much. If they had faced resistance and been made to level the city, for one. There's still no telling if this will increase the friction the Veruni experience with their subjugate populations. There could have -- and may still be -- retaliation for such a bold move from the likes of Guild Galad or even Solaris on the horizon.

Worse, to Amaterasu's thinking, she had been in the region when it had occurred. This was known. It would have been a simple request for her to go and retrieve Rohay's heir with minimum disruption.

If there would be repercussions within the upper echelons of the Radical faction for this move, though, it would seem they were not forthcoming anytime soon. Or ever.

Amaterasu had turned her questions to Rohay herself.

"Was it necessary?" she had asked in the end.

Her comms are stripped down. The bare essentials -- again. But she could see Rohay's expression in the tone of the voice that had replied to her question.

"It is prudent to remind humans of their place, especially after their so-called victories," she had said to Amaterasu.

Had leave been requested and granted? There were official channels for such an action, and even in the field, Amaterasu should have heard it was in the works, as deeply enmeshed in the Radicals' military operations as she is.

Rohay had simply said that she was welcome to investigate whether the action was just or not when she'd asked, before terminating the line.

There were... rules for this sort of thing. There were ways this ought to go. No law had been violated, because Shijie Rohay was the law. But... this wasn't how it was meant to be--

A twinge in her jaw alerts her to the fact that she's gritting her teeth.

With a sigh, Amaterasu uncoils herself, forcing the tension that riddles her frame away. Her duty, first and foremost, is to her people.

To the Radicals, the only ones with a means of saving the Veruni.
