  • Summary: Chartreuse and Sable meet up while looking at mountaineering gear; they discover that they have compatible goals.

<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

To many, Pewter City is considered the stop for those heading to, through, or over Mt. Moon. If you love the mountains - or just have need to visit - there's something here for you. And because of that, there are many shops and stalls dedicated to catering to prospective explorers. It may be due to growing up in that environment that Chartreuse turned out the way she did...

...and because of that, can now be found standing at one of said stalls, perusing their wares carefully. She's studying a mountaineering kit, currently looking it over with a critical eye - and then she frowns, shaking her head as she puts it back.

The well-worn pin on her hat, her Archaeology Club's stylized Geodude wearing a pith helmet and carrying a pickaxe, suggests she knows her stuff.

Standing dutifully next to her is her Mareep who has been outfitted with a small sheep-sized backpack of her own to help Chartreuse carry her shopping as the only member of her team currently large enough to do so.

<Pose Tracker> Sable Aomori has posed.

Sable is not unfamiliar with Pewter; she spent some time here while her mother was visiting, and of course, she's been to the Gym! She has a Pewter Badge that she keeps on her bag, too.

And she is here for a similar reason to Chartreuse. She comes to a stop behind her as she puts the item back, and tilts her head, examining her. A Geodude with a helmet. A Mareep, outfitted.

"Cute..."

Then she pauses, and says, "You're in the Archaeology club, aren't you?"

A pause. "Did you think that kit was bad?"

<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

Chartreuse turns, hearing a voice behind. She offers Sable a smile - and Mareep similarly turns, looking up at her with interest. Perhaps she heard the compliment...

"That's correct!" Chartreuse confirms with a nod - and then 'hm's to herself for a moment at her question.

"Well... I'd hesitate to call it outright bad... The kit itself is perfectly serviceable, but you're paying a lot for the name brand and the aesthetics." Chartreuse points out. "Still, that doesn't mean there's no value in it. If you're still trying to figure out what kind of equipment you favor, it's good for starting out. It's just not for me."

She turns around again looking over the wares... and this time spots another kit which she approaches and pats indicatively.

"This kit over here, though - it's kind of plain but built sturdy, and that's what matters most. It'll weather pretty much anything you put it through." She explains. True to her word, it's not much to look at, but it certainly does look tough, at least.

<Pose Tracker> Sable Aomori has posed.

Mareep!! Sable's Vulpix pads along up to her feet as Sable comes to a stop. She is an Alolan variant--just as fluffy, but snowy white instead of red. "Vul..."

Sable listens to Chartreuse's explanation. "I see..."

"So it's not bad, but it's not right. I don't understand why someone would rather have the brand than the better one..."

She reaches out to take one of the kits Chartreuse points out. "That seems good then. I'm going to Mt. Moon soon. I'm looking for a Pokemon."

<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

Chartreuse smiles down at the Vulpix and Mareep offers her a friendly 'baa' of greeting.

Meanwhile, Chartreuse nods.

"Well... I can kind of get it. You're trusting your life to this stuff, so it makes sense to go with a name you know. A 'peace of mind' sort of thing. If you're not in the field, it might not immediately make sense what qualities you want to look out for." She explains. "And it'll serve you pretty well, at least until you start doing some more intensive explorations. ...And by the time you start doing that, you've probably already figured out what you're after."

She does seem quietly pleased when Sable seems to take her recommendation, though - and listens with interest, as she mentions that she's heading toward Mt. Moon.

"Ohh, you are? I've been prepping for an expedition there, myself. What're you looking for?" Chartreuse asks, curious.

<Pose Tracker> Sable Aomori has posed.

"Pix..." Vulpix quietly approaches. SHe's a little shy, but Mareep is hard not to find fluffy and friendly...

"Oh," Sable answers. "Peace of mind... that makes sense." She nods, thoughtfully, as if weighing it in her mind. "I'm familiar with climbing gear. But not everything else. I've only been in the mountains a few times on my own."

She nods. "Oh." A pause. "I'm looking for an Onix. I need something big..."

"I've been studying up on Rock-types. My Sudowoodo is a little unusual for them."

"Are you looking for anything?"

<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

Mareep watches Vulpix curiously - but seeing her shyness she elects to stay put, allowing her to approach at the pace most comfortable for her.

Chartreuse nods back.

"I've got a lot of experience with it, as you can guess. I grew up here, so the mountains were pretty much my back yard... I can give you a few other pointers if you want?" Chartreuse offers. And will, indeed, if asked gladly point out some other good and useful pieces of equipment.

"An Onix, huh...? They're rare and hard to tame, but if you can, you'll have a really reliable friend by your side." Chartreuse replies with an approving nod - and then, her eyes stray to Sable's bag, at which point she offers her a smile. "...But, I can see that you've seen that for yourself already!"

As for herself...

"Nothing specific! I'm mostly interested in stones, myself. And if I can happen to uncover any fossils, even better." She replies.

<Pose Tracker> Sable Aomori has posed.

Vulpix, eventually, makes her way a little closer. "Pix...?"

Sable glances at her, but since things are calm, doesn't intervene. She looks back to Chartreuse, instead. "I see... I visited sometimes. My brother's dad lives here." Then she smiles, faintly. It's not a very big expression, but it is there.

"Yes. When I thought that I needed something big and protective on Filgaia, I thought of Brock's Onix."

But, nothing specific! Sable nods. "I found a fossil the last time I was there," she says. "I think fossils are important."

"Though I could use a stone for Xirua here eventually..."

<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

Vulpix ventures closer - and so Mareep takes a careful step forward, offering an encouraging 'baa' of greeting. Chartreuse smiles just a little, keeping an idle eye on this meeting, but her attention soon returns to Sable as well.

"Oh yeah?" She replies, curious. That implies a few things, though it's mostly just an interesting note. Filgaia, though... Chartreuse nods.

"Oh, one of the other worlds... I've heard a little bit about it, myself - I can't blame you for wanting something to keep yourself safe." Chartreuse replies. She hasn't been there yet, herself... but she'd be lying if she said she wasn't at least a little curious about seeing the worlds beyond the rifts for herself.

"They are! You can learn a lot from them. They're really quite fascinating..." Chartreuse enthuses. "Even where and how you find them can tell I story. I-"

...Chartreuse finds herself about to launch into a lecture and she pauses, looking a bit sheepish as she clears her throat.

"Ah, anyway... That'd be an Ice Stone, right?" Chartreuse says. "If I find one, I'll let you know."

<Pose Tracker> Sable Aomori has posed.

Vulpix's response to 'baaa' then is to make another little noise, this one happier, and step close. Friends! Well, maybe.

"If I'm going to get involved, I need to take precautions," she says. "If I take care of my Pokemon, they'll take care of me, too. It's important that it goes both ways..."

She nods. "You sound like him," she reflects. The one she was talking about before, maybe?

"Yes," she says, an ice stone. "Thank you."

A pause. "...If we go at the same time, maybe we can go together. I can help you look for fossils."

"...My mom tells me I should make friends while I'm on my journey."

<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

Mareep looks pleased, the bulb on her tail lighting up as she swishes it back and forth. Friends...!

Chartreuse nods.

"That's true. Working and traveling together... as long as you keep that in mind, I think you'll do fine." She replies with a smile - and then a laugh, as Sable says she sounds like him.

"Really? Maybe we went to the same classes..." She considers, then nods... but, Sable suggests going together.

"That'd be great, actually. There's only so much we can do on our own." Chartreuse replies. We, of course, being herself and her team. "There are a lot of places I can't - or shouldn't - go if it's just me..."

Sable says her mom says she should make friends, and Chartreuse chuckles good-naturedly.

"She sounds wise. Meeting new people is an important part of the journey - it's all about the... well, the journey, more than the destination." She replies with a small laugh at her own joke. With that said, she extends a hand. "I'm Chartreuse - Chartreuse Spinosa. Nice to meet you!"

<Pose Tracker> Sable Aomori has posed.

Sable is pleased to see Xirua the Vulpix making friends. And she's trying to do the same!

"Maybe not," Sable says, "He's older. He's a professor." And well--it'd be great, apparently. "Yes. Especially with the things that have been happening lately..." A pause. "That's true for me too."

Sable nods. "She is." Then she nods again. "...People tell me that. I hope it's true, because I'm kind of away from my original destination... I decided to help against the Ten Wise Men. So I'm not doing the Gyms as much until I can get settled doing both."

She doesn't laugh, but she does brighten good-naturedly about it. SHe reaches out to shake Chartreuse's hand.

"Sable Aomori. It's nice to meet you, too."

<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

"Ah, a professor..." Chartreuse nods consideringly. That makes sense - of course a professor would get that excited about fossils, too. She nods again - but this time, a bit more subdued. The things that have been happening lately... Things have become a bit more dangerous, these days. "...Yeah. It's good to be careful."

...Especially since, it seems, she's made a decision to help against the Ten Wise Men. Chartreuse considers that for a moment.

"That's pretty dangerous..." She comments... but smiles anyway, despite that. "...But, I'm the last person who'd tell you not to. It's important to do what you feel is right."

Sable shakes her hand and Chartreuse beams - and with that, she turns back to the stall.

"Oh, I think you could get some use out of this, too..."

Chartreuse will continue making recommendations on equipment, for as long as Sable has the time to stick around.
