"I don't want to look away."

Sable Aomori is the daughter of Pokemon researchers and a very driven young woman. She has always had trouble with people, but her mother's protection shielded her from many of the consequences of that trouble. Now though, for better or for worse she is out in the world on her own. Her goal of victory in the Pokemon League is only one of her concerns; the changes coming to Nede are something she has chosen not to ignore, and the worlds beyond are part of the vistas she wants to see. She goes on her journey with her family's secret ninja skills, her Pokemon, and a boundless thirst for understanding that may yet see her through the many dangers ahead. One danger, though, is of running up against the very protection that allowed her to flourish in the first place.

Background

While she was born in Fuchsia City, Sable grew up on Cinnabar Island, a tropical paradise filled with researchers--and sometimes tourists. Her mother and father are both scientists, studying pokemon behavior and habitats, and she has an older brother! She would do a lot of traveling though; her mother regularly took her back to Fuchsia to see her extended family, where she made some good friends. Additionally, she periodically got to see Pewter, for her brother's father.

But mostly, she grew up on the islands, learning to swim early and being the darling of a number of scientists who appreciated the serious little girl. Her mother Anne was very protective; Sable was a little different from most kids even at a young age, and she picked up on that.

Eventually, though, even with her mother asking her to wait 'another year' Sable set out on her Pokemon journey, with her partner Ulpi, a Piplup. She even completed the first part of her Gym challenge in Pewter City!

Chapter 3 Act 1

Sable learns of the Ten Wise Men and Team Rocket, and is daunted by both. After seeing Visitors in action and working alongside them, she decides to do her part in the fight--and sets aside her Gym journey for a time in order to prepare for this new mission.

Seeing war up close changes her approach somewhat.

Skills, Powers and Abilities

Sable is an able Pokemon Trainer, proficient in various battling techniques. She has a strong bond with her Pokemon, is good at catching more, and can effectively train a variety of them. She is particularly good at defensive techniques, knows her type matchups, and is adept with TMs, which she uses to teach her Pokemon new moves for particular challenges.

While she isn't a prodigy like some, she's a little older than many who started their journey before her, and has the benefit of a great education from her researcher parents.

She is also (secretly) a ninja! She learned her mother's stealth and infiltration techniques, and while she is not a combatant on the level of the average Drifter these days, these skills serve her quite well in exploration and getting around in general. These techniques include ancient methods of alchemy and compounding, at which she is very good. She is versed in healing Symbology, though she hasn't practiced using it in combat much.

She's also great at fishing! Sable is an adept angler.

Dratini Dragon Relaxed 'Artan'. Has the Shed Skin ability, and loves to be admired. Sable met him in Fuchsia City's waterways.
Vulpix (Alolan) Ice Timid 'Xirua'. Snow Cloak is her Ability. She is quite mysterious, met around Cinnabar Isle.
Bellsprout Grass Poison Lonely 'Prima.' Chlorophyll is her Ability. Sable caught her to help with Misty's Gym, but hasn't yet challenged it. She's raising her carefully, and has come to appreciate her in her own right.
Pikachu Electric Jolly 'Varan'. He has the Static ability. He's easily exasperated, caught in a fit of trouble after dealing with someone assuming a Mimikyu was a regional variant of Pikachu...
Onix Rock Ground Calm 'Ishka'. She is very relaxed, but shows great interest in many things. She loves to explore. Much larger than the average Onix.

Sable regularly talks about the things Anne says as wisdom, and while she's always been perhaps overly protective of Sable, Sable doesn't begrudge that. She knows her mother as someone who enjoys fun after she's gotten all her work done, and has a great sense of humor. She's also used to her mother's dating life being kind of complicated. Anne is the biggest influence on Sable... and Sable does /not/ know that she's in Team Rocket.
Edgar Chiba Edgar Picrew 1.png Fire Sable's father. He's a researcher like her mother, focusing on Pokemon habitats. While he and her mother never married, he still spent a lot of time with her growing up in Cinnabar, and his easy smile and sense of humor were always nice. He's never seemed to worry all that much, except for about her. While her mother sometimes says he's kind of frivolous, Sable thinks Anne likes him anyway, and does not object to his attempts to get back together with her mother. He's on an extended study in Armslock.
Whit Aomori Whit 1.png Flying Sable's older brother. He is a travel writer, who as of the opening of Energy Nede even writes about locations in Filgaia and Lunar. Sable thinks he's very cool; while he grew up and left the house before her by a good while, she looks forward to seeing him when she gets the chance. She likes Chauncey, too!

Damian Tamaoka Dark A nice enough boy, if unambitious. But now he's in Team Rocket, and presumably has been for some time. Sable will show him there are better ways one battle at a time.
Arisugawa Joy Psychic She seemed nice, and could read Pokemon's hearts. Sable saw a lot of similarities between them, though Joy has more experience. Joy gave her a training aid!
Citan Uzuki Ice Very nice, but also mysterious. He has a Mimikyu! He seems very knowledgeable, and Sable would like to talk to him again sometime.
Lan Lilac Normal She seemed to like Artan a lot! Sable suspects she might be scatterbrained, but that's OK. She has a brother, too!
Luna Meitner Fighting She's a warrior. She's very prickly, and that's probably going to get her into trouble.
Ruth Pauling Dark Frightening, but also kind. Sable doesn't understand her, but she helped to give Sable resolve. ...Still scary, though, with that gun of hers.
