- Summary: Nina and Sable meet up on the beach to talk and hang out a bit! They end up discussing their own resolutions.

Sable Aomori is back home! Home being Cinnabar Island, a small locale in the remaining Nedian ocean. It's just a visit, but she is making a visit of it, since her father is on one of his breaks from his extended study in Armslock. But he's off with his colleagues again after a while of spending time with Sable, and Sable is out to meet a friend.
She hasn't met up with Timu just yet, but she's hoping to later. Instead, she is going to meet NINA... at the beach!
Sable is currently at her beach towel on the sand, wearing a blue one-piece swimsuit and no more sandals. She's seated, looking out towards the water. Since Nina's seen her last, she's put something closer to her natural color back in her hair--and over the last months since Nede opened, it's been slowly growing out some.
And right now, Ulpi is out in the water! The Prinplup is wading in the shallows at the moment, closing his eyes and enjoying the sun. It's not quite his climate, but it's not so bad, either. Xirua is also out, the Alolan Vulpix snoozing next to Sable's towel, while Artan is off swimming, and likewise out.
Sable waits. She's fiddling with her phone while she does, but mostly just thinking.

Nina Chiyome is not back home. Technically. She spent enough time here as a kid that it's close to it at the very least.
She's mostly here with Sable though. Seemed like the right thing to do after the other night. Not that she could quite put her finger on the why. Maybe it's for herself as much as anything.
Nina herself shows up! She's wearing a white one-piece herself, trimmed in vibran reds though. Also a pair of shorts because she's wandering from the boardwalk. Her sneasel padding alongside her, darting back and forth as she keeps an eye on it and fiddles iwth her phone as well. <Almost there. Had to stop and get snacks> She sends Sable's way. Though.. with the beach in sight, she runs the rest of the way!

Sable's suit, for the record, has an abstract snowflake pattern in whites and lighter blues and a little black. It's very pretty.
But when she ses the message from Nina, she types in:

Then, she looks up, at Nina running towards her, and waves. Her expressions are always a little muted, but for Sable this is a 'happy to see her' expression. "Hi, Nina," once she's closer.
Sable is in a good mood! Xirua continues to doze adorably.
"Look," she says, and gestures out into the water, towards her recently-evolved Prinplup. "Ulpi got stronger..."

Nina Chiyome comes to a stop with a bit of a skid. Because running and all and Nina's naturally exuberant. Even does the arms out balance thing!
Then she looks back and hops as the sneasel about runsi nto her as it comes to a stop.. further down the beach. Near the water where it chased a wave. "Could have asked!" She calls out, joking.
Looking to Sable after though, she takes a moment to compose herself, then slings her bag around to flip a towel out and settle right on it in one smooth motion. She might be showing off a tiny bit. (She thinks it's neat.)
She does lean forward, watching as Mavs twists and tries to tease Ulpi into playing, "We all have been.. I hope." There's a pause. Then a frown. "My team and I have been!" She's cheerful, but maybe a bit distracted herself. Some concerns are hard to shake. "We've been working on tandem stuff since.. it's not right to leave them out too." That made sense in her head. Don't worry about it.

Sable laughs faintly at Nina and Sneasel's antics. "You aren't supposed to run into her," she points out to Sneasel amiably.
It is a cool motion. Doing everything at once is cool!
Ulpi is very proud... but will play with Sneasel!! It's fine. Sable watches this for a moment, and then looks back to Nina at that. "That's true," Sable says. "We're doing a lot. And we're doing our best at it..."
She nods, then. "Tandem... That makes sense. If you want to fight together with them directly, then you'll need to practice doing that. I could spar about it sometime."
Not now, obviously. But it makes sense to Sable, too, even if she takes a different approach.
"They want to fight for their home, too." She looks up to the sky.

Nina Chiyome rubs the back of her head as she watches the two playing. Smiling lightly at the laughter at least. "Don't play too rough." She calls out as the sneasel pounces (Claws away!) towards Ulpi.
Nina glances over though, distracted momentarily. "I don't.. think I'm doing enough though. Still feels like we'rel etting them-" She waves her hands nebulously, "Do it all. We should be.." She falters, looking for the right thoughts.
She shifts to the other topic though, letting her mind wander briefly, "I shouldn't do it alone just like.. I don't want them to do." And right back there!
She runs her fingers through her hair briefly, "I miss sparring with you. It's good practice and.. kept me on my toes." and it was time spent with a friend, but that's a gimme.
She does nod at that last sentiment though. "Yeah. Yeah that's it."

Ulpi has sharp wings to match claws! ...But he doesn't make a fight of it; his new form, though, is able to play rougher than the old one, is less stumbly, more graceful. And Sable sees that, too.
She shakes her head, as Nina says they're letting them do it all, but she doesn't answer immediately, not interrupting. She nods back, instead. "Yes. ...None of us are in this alone."
A pause. "Yes... I haven't had much time for it, on my journey. But I can make some time, while we're here. Dad is going to be busy for some of the time working anyway, so..." Not all the time--not even most of the time. But enough. He's not on a journey like she is!
"But... I think it's OK," she says. "If you fight with them, that's a good way. For me, I think the Trainer can take a different role. If I watch over them, and guide them properly... then I'm doing my part, too. And that's a good way, too."

The sneasel is being careful for her claws! They're big and retractable after all. Though after trying to pat at the ulpi, she'd dart away just out of reach to taunt and paly the other role maybe!
"I've.. had some excuses, but I think I made them." the excuses. "I.. am still trying to get something real made. That fight with the-" she pauses. Thinking. "I hit her with a paint bomb. She was kinda scary. The rope and wood thing didn't cut it." She runs both hands through her hair, then leans back and watches the ocean. "Maybe I'm just being dumb though." Some rare insight. Sort of!
"What were you going to do? Seems.. almost wrong to keep going for badges, but it's good training too."
And as an aside thought, she glances over and says, "I like the whole trainer thing too, but these are.. more dangerous?" That protective streak!

Ulpi will chase!! He's indeed much faster in the water, even the shallow water like this now that he's evolved. They can do back-and-forth on that front.
Excuses. Sable nods. "...Yes," she says. "If you're going to fight, you need a real weapon," she says, firmly. "I don't think it's dumb. But it's dangerous. Be careful, OK?" A pause. "..The Visitors tell me that some Filgaians will target the Trainer anyway, regardless of whether we're actively fighting on our own. So..." Might as well.
A shake of her head. "I want to return to my Pokemon League challenge eventually... But I need to get ready to face the Ten Wise Men and their minions, first. Ulpi helped fight one off on Mt. Moon, not that long ago. I'm almost ready. And then I caught an Onix, for bigger things."
"I know it's dangerous," she says. "But I won't look away. Even so."

The sneasel is fast! Because of course she is, though she is trying to stay right on the edge of the water. It's not playing if the other can't catch up. Or at least think they can! She's bolting along happily enough though, regardless of outrunning or not!
At the mention of a trainer being targeted either way, she glances over and points, "We're definitely sparring then. Got to.. make sure both of us are good to go." Since it would probably seem weird to offer to just bodyguard or something. Even if that's on her mind somewhere.
Very protective ninja!
rests her elbows on her knees and chin in hands, "If.. you think you're running into them. Let me know. I need to be there." Not for the fight itself, by her tone.

Bolt!!! Ulpi caws majestically.
"Cool," Sable answers of sparring. "I have some equipment for keeping me safe, but I need to make sure my reflexes are right, too." Sable doesn't think of bodyguards; instead, "I can't ask you to take care of everything," Sable says. "...But I'd be happy to fight with you sometimes. I know I can rely on you."
"And if I know I'm going after something big... then someone I can rely on is good."

Nina Chiyome points with her thumb behind her, "My sisters are practicing too, but none of them have quite.. gotten their hands on questionably sourced materials." She thinks it's funny, though there's probably something bad about what she's chosen for materials.. "They're not quite as uh. Headstrong though either."
She does smile at being relied on in any way thoguh. That's a nice feeling.
"Just.. just be careful. I don't want to.." she holds a hand out and rolls it like she's trying to think of the word. Or thinks it's obvious. Or she just doesn't want to lose her friend again

"Heheh." Questionably sourced materials. "I want to see it, when you get it." The weapon, that is. Sable still likes that kind of thing, even if she doesn't fight monsters much with them. "...That's true," she says of Nina's sister.
"I will," Sable promises. "You be careful, too."
She glances out to the ocean, to the Pokemon playing there, to Artan swimming, to the water...
"I'm going to go swimming," she says. "But..."
"I'll be OK. I can rely on my Pokemon, too."

The sneasel's got boundless energy. Might be why Nina frequently refers to her as the gremlin. Name not withstanding. It's since turned and is trying to pounce at Ulpi in the water. It's good practice in a way!
"Aren't I always careful?" She idly scratches at a bandaid on her knee. Don't answer that.
"Is the place still filled with tentacruel?" On the one hand, she has an errant thought she should catch one. On the other hand she remembers being stung. She sticks her tongue out. "I'll join you though.
And.. as an aside, "Don't tell your mom what we're up to or she'll tell my parents and then we'll both be in up to our necks."

"No," Sable answers easily. Nina is not always careful. But she doesn't even sound all that disapproving. It's just... flat answer.
"Yes," she answers of the Tentacruel. "Mostly Tentacool, though." Pause, and nod. "Good."
The aside gets a shake of her head. "I won't. Mom would say what we're doing is too dangerous for us anyway..."

Nina's response of, "I'm not that bad" Is almost whining. She knows she's wreckless, but not that much, is she?
"Didn't I say that?" She replies as an aside about tentacool. Tentacr..that one.
She does work her way to her feet, brushing the sand away from her shorts. Glancing over. "Is she doing alright? With all the attacks.. I hope your family's not getting caught up in it."

"Yes, you are," Sable answers, nodding twice, seriously. ...Nina can tell she might be teasing, though. She's just pretty deadpan about it.
"Hmm." Maybe she did say that. Either's fine.
But, "She's been working with Visitors at her lab, so I think she's OK keeping everything together. Maybe she'll get involved anyway..."
"It's OK. She can do anything."
Then, off to the water!!

<poem>Nina Chiyome muttermutters. "It's not that bad. It's just.." it is that bad, in a lot of ways. Maybe even worse. She won't see it. "I'll be careful." Ish.
She knows it's teasing, but when people keep suggesting she might be wreckless.. "The alien visitors or visitor visitors?" She's at least not calling them strange people anymore. Even if some of them are! (She is too. It's fine.) "I hope not. Even if she could maybe help, but that's." She pauses. Then scowls. Anne's definitely capable of defending herself. She does follow towards the water though!
