"There's a whole big wide world out there... and I wanna see it all!"

Cavall is an earth-element wolf seraph born from an Earthpulse on a mountain that overlooked a small mining village, Kubo. The village was struggling, and Cavall eagerly took up the task of aiding them, looking for and guiding lost travelers, hunting for extra food, and protecting them from dangers and the elements. With their help, the village began to thrive, and in return, they began to worship their protector. Cavall was instilled as a Lord of the Land, and continued their efforts to help the town grow and prosper. The village continued to thrive, but over time Cavall found themselves with less to do: better and safer roads meant less lost travelers, the resulting trade meant the food supply remained more stable, and the expansion of the village and its success helped it to protect itself. Newer generations, growing up in more prosperous times, worshiped less and less, and Cavall's domain and influence began to shrink. The promised stability of Althena's return left Cavall with still less to do, and their thoughts began to wander to finding a new purpose. News of recent developments and two worlds in need of help will spur Cavall to take their first steps off the mountain they call home, eager to see what new things the world has to offer.

Background

Kubo

Cavall came into being on Mount Kubo, a mountain in northwest Meribus. They manifested in the form of a wolf, and are a self-described spirit of the mountain.Upon exploring the mountain they found a small mining village, also named Kubo. Wandering the streets, they discovered the town was in dire straits. The harvest had been poor and winter had come early. Efforts to gather more food were stymied by both the weather and an illness sweeping through town. A doctor had been summoned to help with the illness, but had not arrived yet and was feared lost.

The newly-born seraphim got to work. They snatched up a lantern and set out into the storm to find the wayward doctor. They used the lantern's flame to guide the doctor to the village, then set about hunting food and fathering plants for the village, and later herbs for the doctor's medicines.

The winter was still grueling, but the village fared far better with Cavall's help than without. Eventually they realized the string of mysteriously overlooked deer carcasses or sudden baskets full of plants must surely be the work of a Seraphim. Their hopes were confirmed when, the following spring, a baby girl by the name of Lunete was born. Her birth alone was something of a miracle: both mother and daughter surely would not have survived the winter without the assistance of both seraph and doctor. But the occasion was extra blessed when it was revealed that Lunete was also an elf. The village viewed it as a blessing of their protector seraphim, though in truth, Cavall had nothing to do with this.

With that, the villagers built a statue in tribute to their protector: a statue of a hunter with a hunting dog by his side. Cavall took the statue as their vessel, and became enshrined as the Lord of the Land for the village. (The villagers mistakenly believed their protector to be rather more human, but had noticed the bite marks on the deer carcasses and assumed the seraph had some sort of hunting dog as a helper. Cavall didn't mind this misconception overly much; they were just happy to be able to help.)

With their new position, they were able to help ensure the next harvests were better, and they continued to look out for lost and wayward travelers in the area. As the benefits of their help continued to manifest, the worship of the seraph continued to grow, and their ability to help the village continued to grow.

The villagers in Kubo could not see or interact with Cavall directly, which they didn't mind, but there was one surprising exception. One day, while Lunete was picking herbs in the woods, Cavall drove off a beast that was about to attack her, and they both received a surprise. Cavall was surprised to find that Lunete could, in fact, see them--the first person they had met that was able to do so, in fact. Lunete's surprise was discovering their protector seraphim was in fact a wolf, and not the hunter they had honored with the statue. They became close friends and confidants, both working to help the town in different but complimentary ways.

Cavall's help had been instrumental in saving the fledgling mining town, but as it began to grow and prosper, it needed less and less of Caval's help. The construction of a new road meant less lost travellers. Trade brought prosperity and food security. And as the town became more established it needed less protecting from elements and the wilderness. Newer generations came up in times of ever-increasing prosperity, and worshiped less and less. Over the years, Cavall's influence diminished more and more, until their sway on the land because strained and tenuous.

With little to do, and no influence to do it with, Cavall's thoughts turned to a desire to experience something new, but they couldn't bring themselves to abandon their post. Seeing Cavall's distress, Lunete finally convinced them that it would be okay, and with their friend's blessing, Cavall took their first steps off the mountain to see what the world had to offer.

Powers and Abilities

Cavall is an earth seraph manifested in the form of a wolf. They have a strong connection to the snowy mountain where they manifested, and also have some minor influence over ice and wind, as well. They appear as an otherwise normal wolf (albiet with some distinctive seraphic coloring), with all of the capabilities one might expect: heightened senses of smell and hearing, tracking ability, and natural weaponry.

Their form is further enhanced by their connection to the element of earth: along with the ability to control and manipulate earth magic, they can also call upon tremendous reserves of strength far greater than what their appearance might suggest, and they are far hardier and sturdier as well.

Their weapon of choice is a heavy anchor and chain, that they normally wear around their neck disguised in the form of iron prayer beads. They also have a net with weights attached that they can use as well.

Cavall can be a ferocious opponent in battle, but they also have an inherent desire to protect others, and will gladly protect less capable fombatants from harm.

Relationships

Name My thoughts...
Lunete "My first and longest friend. If you ever need me, I'll be there, no matter what."
Seraph Lanval "Though the things you showed me were not pleasant, I... needed to learn them. Thank you for your guidance."
Holly "We are both far from home... I hope we find the places we need to be."
Lunata Croze "I cannot guide you to your rest, but I can walk the path with you."

Notable NPCs

Lunete

An elf woman born in Kubo after the grueling winter where the village's future seemed uncertain. Cavall immediately did their best to aid the village, finding a lost doctor and providing both food and herbs to make medicine, and as a result, Lunete's mother was able to pull through the long, difficult winter. Her birth itself was a cause for celebration, and the fact that she was an elf meant the day was doubly blessed.

Cavall and Lunete eventually discovered that Lunete had enough resonance to properly perceive Cavall, to both of their surprise. They struck up a close friendship as a result, with the fate of the village tied to both of their births in one way or another. They willingly confide in each other, and work together to accomplish goals the other could not do alone.

Lunete eventually left to study at a far away school, but returned to help out her village, eventually taking up a seat on the city council and further help guide the town's development. She eventually encouraged Cavall to seek out new challenges and adventures, distressed to see them in such a state.
