You come onto the primary path on Mt. Moon. The Kanto Police Department are
here, cordoning off what looks like a pretty horrific battle that's skewed
the landscape and torn bridges and paths down in its wake. Hikers around you
whisper to each other, concerns about the Ten Wise Men fresh on their mind.
The nearest constable suggests that you come back once the path has been
  repaired, but...

Is this really a broken bridge situation? Was there really an unfinished
quest in Pewter City? Are you still the type to turn around and hope an
unrelated situation occupies your time until the bridge is fixed?

<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

The notion of unusual metals and strange Pokemon is one that stuck in Lily Keil's mind as she listened to stories about Mt. Moon, and she decided that it was her next destination accordingly. She hasn't come alone, of course. Not only habitual allies, but others who have expressed a similar interest in the outing.

Lily has replaced the vending machine suit, though. She's in black and gray, a fur-collared jacket other a dark tanktop and gray trousers, with sturdy boots. Her golden eyes are sharp; her black hair is loose. And she regards... a bridge.

The Hikers whisper, and Lily comes to a stop looking around.

"It might be wise to come back later," says the Officer, a woman named Jenny. "There's probably nothing to the rumors of a Ten Wise Men attack, but it's still dangerous." Lily's met a few officers named Jenny so far. It's fine.

"...No," Lily says, "If there is danger, then it's more important that we check it out. I'll look into this for you."

Lily pulls the strange gimbaled pendant (three axes) from around the chain on her neck, and holds it. Then... she steps forward. "I'll help you along when I get there," she says, and her voice echoes strangely as, surrounded by an unsettling blue aura, Lily just walks on empty space towards the other side.

It's fine.

Stalwart! Party shielded from some Exhaustion this round! Sacrifice! The party will take slightly more Exhaustion this
round!
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

"Mmmmph," Lanval stumbles along not far behind, scratching at his chin and pacing back and forth while Nedians gather and consider the whole hubbub with the return of the Ten Wise Men.

"It ish a problem if the bridge ish out," Lanval remarks, turning his back to Lily, "'m happy ta help ya through, thoooooough 'm not shure ya can jusht walk on thin air accrossh the bridge, 'n I don't wanna make everyone panic over nothin'," he murmurs.

He looks over his shoulder. One eye opens all the way, colorlessly.

"Oh, right, ya can." He looks to the left, looks to the right, and decides to follow suit.

Lanval can't actually walk on thin air. Comedy ensues.

(it's fine, he has no bones to break)

DG: Seraph Lanval has contributed a Agility Basic Action toward his party's challenge, The Bridge People No Longer
Cross.
<Pose Tracker> Dirk Swordsman has posed.

THE LEGEND OF DIRK SWORDSMAN - ORIGINS

Dirk had gotten wind of the Ten Wise Men. How could you not? It's kind of a big deal around the Nede, which is not exactly a place chock a block with a bunch of big disasters and hijinks and goings-on other than the Pokemon League's adventures and events. Dirk, amply prepared by trashy fiction speculating about the tragic death of either the Energy Nede or a hypothetical environment *strongly resembling* the Energy Nede (often complete with alternative systems of Pokemon, different from any know), was ready.

And unlike many trainers, he had a duty.

SO

Among the hikers and other miscellanious people drifting around the blocked bridge was a young man and several smaller-sized Pokemon. He'd taken note of the new arrivals, and after throwing down the board-on-wheels he was carrying around and scooting over the 20 or so meters to get there, he said:

"Don't worry, Officers. I'll keep an eye on the new guys."

Kick, grab, turn and face. "Sup," Dirk addresses Lily and doubtless others. "You guys are the foreigners, right?"

Dirk is accompanied by:

* A vaguely anthropomorphic hedgehog/grass critter. It's cheerful. ("This is Chespin.")
* A shifty-looking duck with a leek. ("This is Farfetch'd.")
* A sort of animate charcoal-golem critter with a steel BBQ skewer. ("An' this is Charcadet.")

"Sup," concludes Dirk.

Charcadet, meanwhile, turns his head and looks towards the Seraph Lanval. "Char!" says the Charcadet. His head turns to watch Lanval. "Char..."

"Huh?" says Dirk, adjusting his shades. "... you a psychic or something?"

"Aight, we gotta strategize here. Chespin! You see that gap? We gonna do Ryu no Ramp Pattern Beta," Dirk instructs, even as he points a thumb down at the back of his board. Charcadet gets up and the portly 'pine runs forwards, before hunching down at a particular part of the rift as Dirk builds up speed...

And aims to jump the gap!! For bonus style, a Pokeball is raised for MID-AIR CHESPIN RETRIEVAL!

Farfetch'd looks at the gap, nods once, and flies across it because he's a fucking bird.

DG: Dirk Swordsman has contributed a risky Agility Action toward his party's challenge, The Bridge People No Longer
Cross.
<Pose Tracker> Citan Uzuki has posed.

Lily, as Citan knows, is perhaps the most well-traveled of the Wolves in the world of Nede -- save perhaps Xantia, that is.

There had been more than a few discoveries made once through the rift, and perhaps of the happier of their number had been the fate of the rocket: those who had traveled to Marduk had made it there safely only to become transported to Nede after an altercation with the Ten Wise Men. But for every happy discovery, there had been a far unhappier one. Among them had been the cause of that disruption in the Ley that Riesenlied had felt.
There was likely little that could be done about it, presently. So Citan had sought to instead learn more about the world whose fate affected their own, and in the process, made a new friend.

And when Lily suggested they travel to Mt. Moon -- giving her reasons why -- well, it had been his first proper excursion out of one of the various cities of Nede and so he had agreed.

"Well... that is quite the obstacle," he remarks, readjusting his glasses as he gazes out at where the bridge was. "Still, perhaps not an insurmountable one? --Ah." He turns to regard Officer Jenny (not the first Officer Jenny he's met since stepping foot onto Nede). "Of course. It should not do to become encounter them as we are," he replies evenly. "Yet, is it not strange that there was an attack here? I was given to understand this location was not, ah... a target in such a way. I propose that we investigate and find out what has happened. I assure you that we are accustomed to such... situations, miss."

Which is about when Dirk rolls up. He looks the young man and his Pokemon over slowly. "...I suppose you could say that," Citan notes. "And your name is--"

He cuts himself off to watch on in silence as Lily begins to walk right across the gap... as Lanval falls.

"Hm," he muses aloud, before retrieving a strange blue sphere. It's not a Pokeball. One assumes. "Well! We should not stand around like this!"

Before him, crossing the gap, ice has begun to spread in a plane that seeks to (temporarily) unite one side with the other.

DG: Citan Uzuki has used his Tool Macalania Sphere toward his party's challenge, The Bridge People No Longer Cross.
Rally!
<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

As an archaeologist, Mt. Moon is a place of great interest to Chartreuse. As a resident of Pewter City she's been there before, of course... but rumors of the battle that took place piques her curiosity. If it's enough to tear down bridges and paths, who know what's been shaken up in the process? Whether it was due to the Ten Wise Men or not, that isn't something she can overlook... and, she certainly doesn't want to be beaten to the punch.

Her interest is only piqued further when she arrives, slipping past the police barricade to see a woman... simply walking over the empty space as if the broken bridge was still physically there.

"...My. Looks like I definitely chose the right day to arrive." Chartreuse murmurs to herself. She's not alone, either - Lily's with someone else, a man in glasses and someone Chartreuse recognises as a Pokemon Trainer.

She can't perceive the fifth member of their party.

"Hello there!" Chartreuse greets with a wave, approaching everyone. "You're heading to Mt. Moon, right? Mind if I tag along? I've been inside before so, if you'd like, I can help act as a guide."

She doesn't wait too long for an answer - taking advantage of Citan's ice to stroll along behind them in formation.

Cross.

<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

The Officers watch Dirk as he approaches. He has severeal Pokemon at least, so between him and Chartreuse, they do feel a bit better, especially since Citan seems so reasonable. Lily is... quiet, but she doesn't wait for an answer anyway.

"Good to meet you," Lily says. "I'm Lily Keil." She'll introduce herself to Chartreuse on the other side, of course.

Lily is chagrined to remember that she's trying not to disturb the locals by Lanval, but she's already committed to the spell by that point. Lanval, of course, falls in a heap that looks like it should really hurt! He's fine though.

Dirk and his Pokemon make an acrobatic approach to the other side, and it's exactly as sick and nasty as he hopes it would be. Citan's help with the ice makes a platform he and Chartreuse (and eventually Lanval) can go across. Once there...

"Hey," Lily says. "No objections to local guides. We're on the lookout for unusual stones, signs of the Ten Wise Men, and..." Pause. "Fairies."

<Pose Tracker> Dirk Swordsman has posed.

In mid-air, Dirk says, "That's awesome" when he sees Citan use some kind of Ice Pokeball to create a frosty bridge. He then lands, executes a quick turn around to kill his momentum, and kicks his board in the air.

"Call me Dirk," he says.

*CATCH!* "Dirk Swordsman."

"Sup," Dirk says to Chartreuse, who is visibly taller than him. "And yeah, Mt. Moon's a natural habitat for a lot of Fairy types and I'm kinda concerned if these Wise Guys are goin' up there and they're gonna be disruptin' like the ancient Jigglypuff Migratory Routes and stuff. Hold up."

Chespin is released. "Chespin!" says the Pokemon. He just seems happy to be here!

"Alright I'm good," Dirk continues. "Since you guys are the first foreigners I ran into I'm gonna give you guys a welcome gift from Celadon City. Check it out."

"Boom!" Dirk tells Citan as he hands him a six-ounce compostable plastic pouch of green tea and a paper-wrapped sweet. (Green.)
"Boom!" Lily gets the same, but her sweet is (Pink.)
"An' I ain't gonna leave you out," Dirk says as he hands over Chartreuse's share (White).

His shoulder bag remains partway open and there's another thing of green tea and several more sweets visible if someone has eyes to look. "So... I don't know this route at all and I'm gonna say we should listen to uh, I didn't catch it?" Dirk says towards Chartreuese.

"That's definitely a Graveller though," Dirk says, pointing at a boulder which seems pretty unsuspicious... until it shifts around a little and looks at them with annoyance, but no direct attack. "That guy's tough."

"Think we can take him?" Dirk asks his PokeCrew.

"Farfetch'd," says the duck of war, skeptically.

DG: Dirk Swordsman has used his Tool Canned Tea and Homemade Sweets toward his party's challenge, Gravelers and
Travelers. Cleanse! All negative effects will be cleared at the end of the round! Sacrifice! The party will take
slightly more Exhaustion this round!
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

Lanval has no bones, so the only downside to his ill thought-out approach is a pile of laughs and a small delay as he helps himself back along up... somehow.

     SOMEWHERE IN THAT SEQUENCE

     'Char! Char...'

"'Shuuuup," Lanval says, face-down on the ground, waving a hand in a casual manner. "Mmmph."

     NOW IN THE PRESENT

Lanval's all right, following along as the local Nedian - he's an intense kind of guy, Lanval gathers - explains to the more corporeally inclined along them about what this place is, and what's there. He smiles as gifts are handed out, even if he doesn't have one. If nothing else, the people of Nede have been really friendly and accommodating for the most part, and as someone whose native Domain is in the enhancement of small joys... he can vibe with it, it takes some of the sting off of what the Ten Wise Men are doing to the Ley of Filgaia and Lunar.

"Mmm. Sho ya can tell 'm there, huh?" Lanval says to Charcadet. "Hey. 'm Lanval, a Seraph. Mosht can't tell 'm there, buuuut, I'm a friend if ya wanna be!" Considering that historically he has considered things like an exploded undersea mine as a viable and fun drinking buddy, a creature with a limited vocabulary is well within bounds.

He notices that Chartreuse can't see him. Energy Nede doesn't seem to have a lot of Resonant people in general, but that's okay, he's come to treasure a lot of the friends he's made who are*.

* exception being that time in Spira he found that one stretch of road on Luca he really, really, really wanted to lay down and rest in, but couldn't because everyone saw him and kept shooing him

"Mmm. 'll be honesht with ya," Lanval asides to Charcadet, "ash a Water Seraph, 'm not good at dealin' with Earth." 'Earth' is not a term on Energy Nede. "...But 'm not gonna let that be an excushe ta let Lily 'n Citan do all the heavy liftin'."

He takes a sip of the drinking gourd, channeling a piece of the Water of Filgaia - perhaps something he should channel a bit more carefully with the Ley siphoning problem - as he happens along up to that Graveller. With a chanted incantation and Althenian patterns channeling on the ground around him, he calls upon his Seraph birthright.

     "Blessed Drops~!"

Shining globules of water splatter down upon Graveler of great potency. He's not expecting miracles.

Graveler, by Nedian elemental theory, is 4x weak to Water-types. Whether this fact is going to be a boon or a hindrance to what they're trying to do, well...

DG: Seraph Lanval has contributed a risky Brute Action toward his party's challenge, Gravelers and Travelers.
<Pose Tracker> Citan Uzuki has posed.

Citan pauses before crossing the gap (long enough for him to watch Dirk as he just about flies through the air ahead) and regards Chartreuse. "Well, the more the merrier, I should say," he tells her before making the journey.

Only once he pockets the sphere on the other side does the bridge of ice vanish, with nary a sign that it had been. It wouldn't do to disturb the local environment.

"Dirk, is it?" Dirk Swordsman. "Ah," Citan remarks, as poker-faced as ever. "I am Citan Uzuki. And this is..." he starts, turning his head Lily's way.

Dirk does not appear to be able to see Lanval, Citan has noted. He does not volunteer this information.

"I see, I had heard it was home to the 'Clefairy'. I understand that is not a common, ah, Pokemon?" He looks over at Lily, almost as if he were attempting to confirm his information.

(He already knows this, of course. He has already picked up more than a few key facts and details about Nede in the few days he's been here. How could he not?)

"Celadon City, is it? I have not had the opportunity just yet. Perhaps we had ought to--"

    welcome gifted

"Well! This is unexpected! Thank you," he tells Dirk, as they turn to regard the route ahead which is blocked by boulders--
    ...Gravellers, actually.

"Aha..." Citan remarks, peering at the Pokemon. His gaze, surreptitiously, slides towards Lanval. Citan beetles his brow as if in thought (not just because he's seeing what Lanval is up to). "It seems as if the slightest movement might prompt them to move," he remarks, rummaging in his own bag to draw out a particularly battered-looking guide. Anatomy is not a huge help here, of course, but one is given to wonder if the general principle might hold. "Hmmm, I wonder..." Citan muses, waiting until Lanval has finished before approaching the pile of stones and prods one experimentally with a finger.

He's very quick to bail afterwards. For reasons.

DG: Citan Uzuki has used his Tool Acupressure Guide toward his party's challenge, Gravelers and Travelers. Strengthen!
Party Brute boosted!
<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

"Fairies, hm?" Chartreuse considers. Fairy Pokemon, she's guessing, if they're headed to Mt. Moon. She nods toward Citan. "That's right... they're pretty rare. They tend to hide from travelers. And if you're looking for stones, I'm your gal. I'm an archaeologist - I can point out what's worth looking at."

As for the Ten Wise Men... well, that's certainly worth looking into, as well, but they'd have more luck there than she would, she imagines.

Dirk, politely, offers gifts to Citan and Lily - and to her, as well! Chartreuse accepts it gratefully.

"Why, thank you!" She replies brightly. "Ah, and... Chartreuse Spinosa. A pleasure to meet all of you!"

With everyone across and introductions out of the way, it's time to proceed. ...However, it isn't long before they come across an immediate issue.

...Namely, the wall blocking the way, and the large boulder that Dirk identifies as a Graveler.

"Yes, I'd say so. They have a tendency to explode when confronted - it's alright, they can shake it off after a good night's sleep - but we might be able to use that to our advantage..." Chartreuse considers. "Farfetch'd?"

Chartreuse reaches into her coat and draws out a Pokeball, pointing it forward. A red beam emits, materializing into... a Farfetch'd! He nods to Chartreuse and, after briefly taking note of Dirk's own duck companion, turns to face the Graveler.

"Why don't you give them a Leaf Blade?" Chartreuse suggests. With a nod, Farfetch'd lowers into a combat stance, leek tucked under a wing as he assesses the Graveler. The 'blade' of the leek glows green, briefly - and then Farfetch'd lunges forward, striking with a lightning-quick slash before retreating back!

Chartreuse watches with surprise, though, as shining bubbles splatter against the Graveler soon after. Did one of them cast a spell? Citan, maybe? ...No, there he is making his own approach.

DG: Chartreuse Spinosa has used her Tool Leek toward her party's challenge, Gravelers and Travelers. Fanfare!
<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

"Dirk," Lily repeats. "All right." She lifts an eyebrow at his surname, but doesn't question it openly. Instead, "Chespin... I see." Her own Pokeballs are still at her belt, for the moment. Which is good, because it means that she has free hands for... Boom!

"Oh," Lily says. "Thank you." She tries the sweet without otherwise waiting, and chews thoughtfully. "Oh, that's good," she says once she finishes chewing. "Did you make this?" Tea. Sssssip.

It reminds her of rations, in a good way. Lily likes rations. She then regards... Graveler. The boulders, and Graveler. "Well," she says, "I know how I would usually take care of this." She frowns thoughtfully, as she tries to consider alternatives. She regards Lanval first; Lanval, whom the Pokemon seem to be able to see. His Water might be useful... But on the other hand, Earth tends to resist Water.

"Clefairy," Lily says. "I think it would make a powerful ally, from what I've been told." A pause. "If you do see anything of use, please do point it out, Miss Spinosa." She didn't call Dirk Mister Swordsman. Maybe that's fine.

"They... explode?" Lily wonders. "Hmm. What a fascinating ability."

She considers pulling a Pokemon herself--but instead, she recognizes Chartreuse looking surprised, and so she pantomimes maintaining a Water spell instead, to cover for Lanval.

"I don't believe my Charmander would have a good time dealing with the Graveler..."

DG: The party led by Lily Keil has passed this challenge! The party gained 20 exploration! If anyone needs to use party
management commands, do so now. Otherwise, the next round's GM may begin the next round with +dungeon/draw.
<Pose Tracker> Dirk Swordsman has posed.

Charcadet focuses on Lanval. "Char!" the doughty little Fire Pokemon agrees, sinking down into a grand if rather modest bow.

"There ain't nobody there," Dirk informs Charcadet.

"Char! Charca! Charca Charca!"

Dirk looks directly *at* Lanval but doesn't see him. He frowns.

Then back to the others, who are objectively present. He nods at the introductions.

Charcadet nods along with what Lanval says. Then -- "Char! Charcadet-det!" (Poke-Subtitles: If you use Water, you're strong against Ground! Don't give up, Lanval!)

"Yeah, Clefairy's kinda rare," Dirk answers Citan. He cups his chin with one hand. "But why would these dudes be after Clefairy...? Clefairy's not like weak or anything but it's not like it's some kind of legendary dude or anything."

"Farfetch'd!" says Dirk's Farfetch'd at the sight of another one. He raises a fraternal wing in greeting. He then watches as Chartreuse makes a recommendation. Farfetch'd's head tilts left.

Then tilts right as the Leaf Blade whips forwards.

Dirk is considering how to approach the Graveler when Farfetch'd comes up and pokes him in the leg with the blunt end of his leek. "Sup?"

"Farfetch'd!" Point, point, miming a big sweep.

"What! You're gonna get there, dude! I keep telling you!"

"FARFETCH'D!"

"Get off my basket, man, I ain't holding out on you!"

"Faaaaaaarfetch'd!"

"Can you believe what I gotta deal with?" (The tea, when people drink it, tastes 'okay.' It's shelf-stabilized and at room temperature-ish. The sweets, though, are really good - delicate, not TOO sweet, and with a hint of some complex undertones. Something to linger over.)

"Uh... yeah, you doing like an ice water thing, Citan? Yeah, good call!" Dirk says for encouragement, standing well clear of the Man that Pokes the Rocks.

Chespin reaches up to help himself to a tea sweet.

BEGIN BATTLE!

"Graaa!" The Graveler is immediately barraged with water. The Pokemon hates this! Their head snaps around as if to spot who's doing it, but nobody is immediately apparent. Citan disrupts the rockfall and the Graveler is born downwards, flopping onto its back. And then -

                RULES OF NATURE

* Graveler was KO'd!

"Farfeeeeeeeeeeetch'd," complains Dirk's Farfetch'd, gesturing at this.

"Alright, sheesh! I'll look into TMs! Don't be in such a rush!"

DG: Seraph Lanval has drawn a new Challenge.

| Type: Exploration | Dungeon Ability: Wits | Challenge Rating: 2 |

  It's dark here.

In fact, it's not just dark -- it's impossibly dark. Even flashlights and
torches aren't doing the job; you're simply trapped in an immense volume of
  darkness.

But... you spot it. A sleeping colony of Zubat is here, with you -- and if
you turn on a light or make a loud noise, you'll wake the whole lot and set
them off right on you! You'll need all your wits to navigate your way out of

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

"Aww, yer a shtand-up one," Lanval smiles like a pleasant simpleton to what he parses tonally as encouragement to Charcadet. Still, he watches how the Graveler acts as though Water were its undoing, and Lanval makes an exaggerated cringing face at a sudden truth. "That worked? Jusht like that...? I know I ain't a lightweight among Seraphim but-- huh."

Maybe he should ask Charcadet for tax filing advice. (...what)

Lanval ends up stumbling along ahead of the group into complete darkness. The kind of darkness that he knows Seraph Amaranth - he's hoping she's holding up okay in the Earthpulse under Old Vane - could cast when she was in a dire mood.

"Ain't jusht you," Lanval remarks, "can't tell what'sh what here. Except for myshelf." Yes, somehow, you can see yourself in grayscale, but nothing else. Moving on.

Lanval now has on a very silly pair of beer bottle lenses, which are vaguely reflective if anyone shines light along his way, and somehow he's able to make out some shapes, at which point...

     "BATSH~" HE'S SHOUTING OH NO

"'N THEY'RE ASHLEEP! ALL OF 'EM. SHO ANYONE WHO CAN HEAR, YA GOTTA LET 'EM BE REALLY QUIET. 'M GLAD I CAN'T WAKE 'EM UP. PRO'LLY A GREAT THING NONE OF THE POKEMON CAN-- wait."

He looks in the vague direction of Charcadet, who can see him, and has spoken to him.

A mistake may have been made, but there is advance warning.

DG: Seraph Lanval has risked with his Tool Amber Tinted Lens toward his party's challenge, Sneak through the Dark.
Fanfare!
<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

Lily mimes a casting motion - this seems convincing enough for Chartreuse, so she doesn't question it.

"Certainly!" Chartreuse replies to Lily's request.

Chartreuse's Farfetch'd, meanwhile, returns Dirk's' greeting with a nod and a wing-salute of his own. The banter between him and his Farfetch'd, though... Chartreuse chuckles fondly.

Soon enough, the Graveler is KO'd and the way is open.

"Good work." Chartreuse praises. Farfetch'd returns to her side, hopping up to her shoulder. She tries one of Dirk's sweets and offers another to Farfetch'd as payment, who accepts it before returning to his Pokeball.

"...Oh, these are pretty good." Chartreuse notes, impressed.

They proceed forward... into darkness. Chartreuse frowns and reaches into her coat again... but pauses.

"...Zubat." She comments. ...It's a good thing she didn't go for Mareep, like her first instinct. The last thing she'd want to do is set them all on them at once.

...Unfortunately, unbeknownst to her, Lanval has already found this out the hard way.

"Come on out, Sentret." Chartreuse whispers. The red beam is almost imperceptible in the darkness - and Sentret almost immediately runs back to her and climbs up onto her shoulder, wrapping his tail around her arm nervously.

"It's alright." She assures. "You've got better eyes than I do - can you point the way?"

There's some hesitation... and then, with a small affirmative sound, he tugs on her arm with his tail to indicate which way to go. She'll follow his lead - it might not be a bad idea to follow her... especially with trouble brewing.

DG: Chartreuse Spinosa has used her Tool Watchful Eye toward her party's challenge, Sneak through the Dark. Cleanse! All
negative effects will be cleared at the end of the round!
<Pose Tracker> Citan Uzuki has posed.

There is no ice or water involved, whatsoever. Citan merely prods the Graveler pile at what may be the most optimal/worst possible moment (it depends on who you are in this arrangement...!).

He's already back with the rest of them as the chain reaction unfolds. Citan dusts himself off, absently; he hasn't gained so much as a scratch. "Well, shall we?" he proposes, fishing out that pouch of tea he's been giften again. It might not be such a bad time for it...

Which may be an accurate description of the moments that transpire before they make their way onward into the cave. Shadow gives way to darkness gives way to a pitch-black expanse: Citan can't so much as see the hand in front of his face, let alone the way forward. Gingerly, he feels for a nearby wall.

Lanval calls out that there are... bats.

Citan stays where he is in this moment, remembering what he's read about 'bat-like Pokemon'.

    Particularly... the Zubat.

Lanval keeps shouting. Citan, standing still in the darkness, comes to a terrible conclusion.

"...I hear wings," he lies, because the Zubats aren't moving yet. "You mentioned 'Zubats'... Are there many in here?" he asks of Chartreuse.

He doesn't move but waits in the darkness for the moment that they do start moving. He has his camera in hand for the moment they swarm.

Perhaps, he can only hope, the flash will catch them off-guard when they do begin to descend.

DG: Citan Uzuki has used his Tool Strauss Camera toward his party's challenge, Sneak through the Dark. Fanfare!
<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

Rare... but not legendary. "These 'legendary' Pokemon... I wonder where one would find them?" Lily is curious, but only curious; she isn't a good enough Trainer yet to even consider going after such a thing, if she ever will be. Rare is sufficient for her purposes.

The Farfetch'd and their competition... Lily says, "I understand." It might seem that she's saying it to Dirk except, she turns to Farfetch'd (Dirk edition) instead. "I also have an eagerness to learn new and effective abilities. If you keep at your practice, you will have what you desire."

Then to Dirk, "They're very good. Thank you."

As they reach the next point, though... It's very dark. Lily frowns, at that, thoughtful. But she can't see, either. "It's a problem..."

Sleeping bats. Well, they were sleeping. She's not sure they will be in a moment. "....Bats," Lily arees. "I hear the wings, too."

She touches something at her ear. "Yes, Doctor?" a feminine voice answers her.

"Prepare recording of supersonic frequency on my mark. Repeat recording at similar volume in a three-second pulse, again, on my mark."

"Yes, Doctor."

Lily has a plan. "Let's move," she advises.

DG: Lily Keil has used her Tool AI Hygd toward her party's challenge, Sneak through the Dark. Enlighten! Party Wits
boosted!
<Pose Tracker> Dirk Swordsman has posed.

Charcadet enthuses, "Charcadet!" (Poke-Subtitles: You messed that guy up! Dirk said it did 4x once! I don't know what that means!)

But they move along.

Charcadet looks panicked at nothing. But they're descending into darkness... and Dirk says, "aw hecc" as he gets out his phone. He hunches up real good so the screen light doesn't spill out. Flick, flick, flick...

He raises upthe screen right in front of his eyes. ... Which are behind sunglasses. "there's a bunch," Dirk answers Citan.

"thanks they're from - uh - my supplier" he answers Lily.

Then: "what the hecc are you doing"

Creep, creep.

What phone app is he even using here.

(Video with light adjustment, baby. He had to turn off the flash part.)

His Pokemon troop behind him, the faint glow of Charcadet guiding them, more or less. Chespin seems alarmed, more than any of them.

DG: Dirk Swordsman has used his Tool Questionably Updated Phone App toward his party's challenge, Sneak through the
Dark. Enlighten! Party Wits boosted! Shortsighted! The party will suffer a penalty next round... but not this round!

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

Luckily, with the help of someone with very good night vision, Sentret can help lead everyone through towards the first opening to somewhere that has... significantly better lighting conditions. Or, any lighting conditions, whatsoever. With Chartreuse taking the lead, the rest is just shoring up defenses just in case.

...Citan does, in fact, hear wings. They all do! A bright flash goes off thanks to the Strauss Camera by Citan. They don't have eyes, but in that momentary flash of light they can see a path that leads towards a door!

Lily sets their AI to parrot the echolocation and throw off their navigation, and sure enough, none of the Zubat horde comes close to encroaching upon them, as they sweep and fly away.

Dirk can hold up the phone app so he can follow Charcadet and Sentret along out towards the very nearest source of Actual Light(tm) beyond this place of Certain Zubats, and coming up towards the rear...

Lanval, upright, hardly moves, but something drags him along. Or pushes him? It's the latter, it's a single Zubat shoving the Water Seraph forward, gently patting him on the head with a wing, and turning around to fly back to the others.

"...I shoulda known," Lanval remarks, looking spooked but whole.

<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

"...Yeah. There's a lot. A whole colony, probably." Chartreuse replies with a nod to Citan. And that's just in here. Even Repel don't always help.

Thankfully, they're able to make their way safely through the darkness into a lighter cave with, mercifully, fewer Zubats.

Chartreuse exhales a sigh of relief, letting herself recline against a wall for a moment.

"...Good work." She says with a smile, reaching up to pet Sentret. It accepts the affection... and then it perks up. Still attached to Chartreuse's arm, it props itself up on its tail, looking around nervously.

"What's up?" Chartreuse asks. She receives a cry of warning in response. "...Looks like we're about to have company."

Sentret retreats back into its Pokeball... just as the hurried flutter of wings sounds from the tunnel they just left.

"...Get ready, looks like they just caught up to us!" Chartreuse calls out. She draws another Pokeball, sending out...

"Mareep!" Chartreuse calls out. A sheep materializes. "Let's shore up our defenses."

With an affirmative bleat, the 'bulb' at the end of Mareep's tail glows - and then, the amulet around her neck, fashioned out of a lump of softly-glowing clay, shines in response. Solid barriers of light and force materialize in front of the party... and then, the Zubat arrive.

It's hard to recognize it, but it's the same swarm from before. Whether they tracked them down on purpose or its a complete coincidence is up in the air, but one thing's for sure - they'll have to fight them. At least the space here is better for it.

Walls set up, Mareep joins the fight with the others, unleashing jolts of electricity from her statically-charged wool toward the Zubat!

DG: Chartreuse Spinosa has used her Tool Light Clay toward her party's challenge, Zubatting Average. Embolden! Party
Combat boosted!
<Pose Tracker> Dirk Swordsman has posed.

As they emerge through the area, Dirk lowers his camera app. Another victory. After this, he looks towards the Sentret that was in the lead, and towards Chartreuse. "Huh?"

Then, he turns his head. "Aw crap! Guys, c'mon!"

The other three Pokemon turn!

Farfetch'd lets out a mighty quack and grips his leek in both wings. A hop and a swing blonks on a Zubat, who promptly screams in Farfetch'd's face. "Faaaaa," he declares, landing with an expression suggesting he is on the verge of evolution into a Psyduck.

"Hey new guys! Get behind Chartreuse or me, these guys ain't strong on their own but they're moving like a flock!" Dirk shouts, drawing out HIS SWORD WHEN DID HE GET A SWORD oh right it was there all along. He twists it around to slam the flat of it against a Zubat who goes for his head.

Chespin, meanwhile, crouched down low and fired several barrages of pin-quills into the air. Two Zubats are foiled and leave... which is great... because that's like two out of fifty, and the one that was hassling Farfetch'd immediately aims a barrage of wing-slashes of air towards the poor little guy.

"Caaa!" calls Charcadet, who hurls a burst of flame into the air. Hey, three out of like fifty! NOT BAD. Except then the barrage aims at him too. "Chaaaar!" he squeals as his flame flickers in the wind. (Lanval! Save yourself! I'm scared--!!)

"This ain't good," Dirk says. He raises his voice. "Alright, good hustle! Get back, guys!" He pulls out the last Pokeball on his own belt and pushes the button. Take in a deep breath -- and hurling it forwards, it bursts open in light, revealing a sword.

Except then the sword's eye opens, and it levitates fully off the ground, swaying back and forth. "It's up to you, Honedge!" Dirk calls, even as Farfetch'd reaches the relative safety of Dirk's immediate area.

"Honnnnnnn" says the Pokemon, but it might just be the sound of the sword emerging from its sheath.

("Hey! Don't touch his ribbon! That thing'll suck out your soul!")

DG: Dirk Swordsman has used his Tool Hidden Trump Card ~HONEDGE~ toward his party's challenge, Zubatting Average.
Embolden! Party Combat boosted!
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

Lanval shuffles along the back, eyeing the people among them he can see. He casts a glance to Chartreuse, over yonder, calling upon her Mareep to protect them as a barrier of light is set down.

He eyes Lily and Citan. "Well, there wash no tellin' where thish wash all gonna go," he murmurs, "'ve braved a buncha shtuff. Mother... Obsession..." a.k.a. Sin, "...even the Lord of Calamity." Beat. "The, uhhh, the old one. Newer, old one? I dunno if the one we're hearin' 'bout now countsh ash new or old."

The Zubats. They are swarming. Firmly, he grips on something behind his person, and pulls out... the Holy Bottle. He gives a look to the others.

"I didn't think it'd shtand ta end thish way." Almost solemn, for a Seraph who is generally carefree and silly in most matters he can get away with being that. He looks over to Charcadet, who asks him to save himself. "'n you! Yer a good one. Watch after yer mortal friend, I can tell... they're shome of the besht friendsh ya can ashk for."

He walks forward, distressingly upright, eyes half-open as a booming voice follows.

"BATS!" Lanval calls, as he holds up the Holly Bottle, booming with grand and bombastic - and oftentimes frankly unearned - presence. "In my hands! Of my make! This Holy Bottle doth repel all manner of beast, foul or famished! ...Excepting collectors of taxes! And so it has for years uncountable before the Earthpulse itself blessed upon mineself breath and strength!"

He gives it a shake like it were a bottle of carbonated drink. There is a distressing amount of bubbling going on in there.

"And so I doth declare...!" There is a flare-up of the power of water in all forms great and... less so, uncorking the Holy Bottle and spraying it about like a potent bottle of celebratory champagne just sending sparkling, sanctified water everywhere as Lanval's eyes flare a brilliant aquamarine...

     . .
      A ....YOU SHALT NOT PASS!!

And then he just laughs like he's having a really fun time of it, because he is.

<Pose Tracker> Citan Uzuki has posed.

Zubats don't have eyes, no, but he had read they dislike daylight, and while of course a camera's light can't compare to the intensity of the day--

Well, perhaps it's enough that they are able to see the way forward while Lily deflects the swarm that's come after them by... other means.
It's another thing to consider, if at some future non-Zubat-infested time. In the here and now, Citan runs for it with the rest of them.

"Goodness, that was close," he says as they break into the much-less-Zubat-infested (one hopes...) cave. There is after all some natural light in here. But Chartreuse's Sentret seems concerned, and before long, he can hear it, too.

"We were followed," he remarks, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "I see. So there is nothing else for it..."

He draws forth, with solemnity, a Pokeball. "Ise! Go!" There's a flash of light, and then...!

    ...

It's very small, no more than about eight inches tall.

It looks sort of like what a plush Pikachu doll would look like, if it were drowned in a rain puddle.

"...kyu?" wonders the creature of the Zubats, its plush head flopping ungainly to one side.

    SCREEE, go the Zubats.

To which the Mimikyu replies, something dark and horrible just visible under the fluttering tattered plush of its body: "SCREEE!"

    >Ise used Copycat!

DG: Citan Uzuki has contributed a risky Combat Action toward his party's challenge, Zubatting Average.
<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

His... supplier? Lily lifts an eyebrow, though that's academic in the dark. It shows in her voice though, "I see. Well, your supplier is good."

Then, what is she doing? "I have a helpful program. It's like your phones." Only not as advanced. But she's not going to tell Hygd that. The AI does her best!

"You do well with your Pokemon," Lily comments to Chartreuse. "They like you, but they also listen to you."

But suddenly--they catch up. Lily frowns sharply, and lifts her hand to create a barrier--before Chartreuse reminds her, using a Pokeball of her own. "...Right," Lily says.

Dog starts barking wildly. "Only bite the ones that come too close," Lily directs her as she pulls a Pokeball. "Charmander," she says, "Eevee." Both appear in a flash of red light, as Lily faces off against the horde. "Combine your powers. Smokescreen and Swift!"

"Chaaaaaaa," Charmander begins, and then starts belching forth black smoke, "RRRRRRRR!!!" It's thick enough to interfere with the Zubats' echolocation--while Eevee looks... very intense, all of a suddenly. She lifts from the ground and starts to twirl, before golden stars erupt from before her, striking unerringly!!

At the same time, she sees Lanval invoke his full authority, a rare sight indeed. Perhaps it will be enough to give them the space they need.

Then Lily notices Dirk using his sword, and she indeed gets behind him as directed. "Dog!" she says. "Protect Dirk!"

Dog rushes up near Dirk--but avoids the ribbon and the sword both, as directed. "So you use your own sword skills as well," Lily says. "I could've brought one of my own..."

"Charmander! Eevee! Continue your offense until the enemy is defeated!"

She pauses. She looks to Mimikyu, under Citan's command. She pauses a little longer. "..."

...It's very cute...

"Citan, this ally..."

<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

"Thank you." Chartreuse replies, offering Lily a smile. "We do our best to work together as a team. Forming that bond really helps bring out everyone's full potential... Mine, too."

Now, though - Zubat. It turns into a vicious battle. There's a lot of them there, people and Pokemon, against a swarm of Zubat. They're vicious, biting, slapping with wings, unleashing supersonic waves that induce confusion... but, they start to make some headway. Lanval's Holy Bottle rain helps - sanctified water hits the ground and the Zubat keep their distance out of an instinctual respect, giving the others more room to breathe as they fight the ones that do intend to fight.

And eventually, as the swarm thins out...

Chartreuse hurls a Pokeball, colliding with one of the Zubat and drawing it in. The ball wobbles... and then eventually stops with a pleasant-sounding 'ding!'. The cave goes quiet - though there may be a few stragglers here and there, for those who wish to catch one of their own.

"Good work, Mareep." Chartreuse replies, reaching down to pat her on the head. Mareep nuzzles her hand with her before retreating into her Pokeball, and Chartreuse strolls over to pick up the caught Zubat.

...As she does, though, something has caught her eye. The cave walls have taken a lot of hits during the fight, and some of them are still glistening with Lanval's Holy Bottle. It outlines things she couldn't see before.

So, as she stows away the Zubat Pokeball... Chartreuse reaches for her shovel. And after a moment of digging...

"...Here we are!" She says proudly, carefully prying something out of the earth. It's a light blue stone, slightly cool to the touch - and the way the light plays off it refracts into the shape of a snowflake. "Looks like those Zubat helped us out with something, after all."

She turns to Lily and Citan, holding out the stone.

"Take a look - hold onto it for yourself, if you like." She offers. "You can tell at a glance that it's different from normal stones."

She recognizes it immediately, and Dirk might be able to, as well - it's an Ice Stone!

"You two said you were looking for unusual stones, right? Feel free to keep that one." Chartreuse says - and, once everyone's rested up, it's time to move on.

DG: Citan Uzuki has drawn a new Challenge.

<Pose Tracker> Citan Uzuki has posed.

    Ise tries its best...!

But even its screams are but a mere shadow of what ZUBAT is capable. The 'ears' of its plush head droop slightly, somehow.

"That went well, I believe," Citan remarks, for even so, this sortie went swimmingly. "That was good enough," he tells Ise, drawing out its Pokeball again. "Return!"

But Chartreuse has found something and, standing back as she excavates what she spotted from its point in the wall, he's on hand to admire it alongside Lily. "I see...!" he remarks, thinking about how he had read about certain Pokemon evolving when exposed to certain special stones. The power radiating from this one unquestioningly marks it as one with such a capability. "By all means," he says to Lily, for he has caught no Pokemon that are able to make use of the stone's energies, and gestures towards her as if to suggest she take it for herself.

He does not capture a Zubat. He has his reasons.

The moon has risen high in the sky by the time they emerge at last from the cave system. "Look," he says to Lily and the others quietly, pointing at the gathering of the rare Fairy Pokemon gathering. "It would seem we're in time to witness something quite special--"

Someone is there, silhouetted by the full moon's light.

Cynne, a servant of the Ten Wise Men, is here for the Moon Stones of Mt. Moon. And when the gathered Fairy Pokemon fail to immediately hand over their treasures, Cynne's response is swift and brutal.

"Get down!" Citan shouts. Destruction rains from the heavens and the Fairy Pokemon flee for a nearby cave just moments before a fusillade of sorcery blasts the rockface and seals them within beyond that pile of rubble and stone.

Unless some of them can fly, there's no reaching Cynne. But it might be possible to reach the trapped Pokemon and free them. "Over here," Citan says, moving towards the sealed cave with all the silent speed he can muster. Cynne, above, continues his assault.

Drawing out his weathered manual, Citan pauses a moment alongside Lily. "Lily, I should think it best if you strike swiftly. May I?" he'll say to her, before he makes any attempts to subtly realign her chi*.

    (*in this case, Ether flows)

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

Lanval, briefly, disappears in the fracas, as he dedicates himself wholly from stopping a Balrog-shaped mass of Zubat, even as things calm down enough that someone can take their pick of any Zubat they want.

any. zubat. there are many zubat. one is not spoiled for choice. infinite zubat. enough zubat to create a big crunch. more molecules that are zubat in all of theoretical existence across who knows how many dimensions. zubat zubat zubat zubat. zubat.

     ...Anyway.

Things are bad! Innocent Pokemon are being menaced by someone with a strong resemblance to another kind of Pokemon (but clearly is not). Rubble and stone threatens to entrap the besieged Fairy Pokemon within, but then... from afar.

"Ha ha ha...!" That's Lanval, who looks disheveled as... well, moreso than usual, pointing a finger towards that rock. "Get that rock!"

There is a Zubat mass that is flying and throwing themselves at the rock. Most of them aren't flying straight. A bunch of them make attempts to bash the rock with sheer numbers, when they don't just dizzily fly in irrelevant directions due to some mysterious cause.

DG: Seraph Lanval has contributed a risky Brute Action toward his party's challenge, Dynamite.
<Pose Tracker> Dirk Swordsman has posed.

"YO IS THAT A MIMIKYU" says Dirk even as Honedge does... something horrible in the shadows without even moving that knocks down two entire Zubats without moving. Dirk doesn't seem to feel he needs to tell Honedge what to do. Honedge probably kn
    --shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhing--
ows what to do alright on his own.

Dog is sent to his aid. "Uh-- thanks," Dirk says, looking down at this strange-looking Houndoom? It looks like a Houndoom to him. "Sup," he says, before snapping his attention back up. "We gotta focus up!"

But they've probably broken through the swarm's offensive; Chartreuse catches one, and the storm abates. Charcadet relents from the safety of Dirk first; then Farfetch'd; finally Chespin, who looks at Dog warily.

Honedge, for HIS part, whips past Lanval in the darkness.

Honedge can totally see Lanval. He can see the eye'brow' on its singular hilt-eye waggle and fall.

Dirk doesn't recall Honedge afterwards; maybe it's a hunch, maybe he just figures now everyone's been warned to give Honedge space and not get their souls sucked out. At the discovery of the Ice Stone, he says - "Woah! Lucky. Dang, you guys are better than I figured. Did you get training from one of the professors or something?"

And then -

"Chespin!" says the portly little hedgehog, pointing upwards. Dirk turns his head and looks and - "Oh, wow." He gets out his phone. "Daaaang."

"Ches!! Ches!!"

Dirk turns his head even as he takes a photo of the Clefairy Dance. And then he sees -- "Huh? Is that some kind of --"

Cynne speaks.

"That's not a Pokemon," Dirk says with something like horror. "It's --" He makes a strangled noise as the great monster makes its attack. His hand tightens around the grip of his sword, and his head tilts forwards. "It's gonna--"

The Pokemon with Dirk express dismay in their multivarious way. Charcadet looks towards Lanval with something like forlorn hope, but he doesn't say anything. His head turns towards Honedge; Honedge's eye lowers, as if in regret. Dirk's jaw tightens.

"C'mon! They're gonna freak out in there!" He makes a decisive chop with his sword and drops his skateboard on the ground, kicking off to build up speed on the path. To what end, exactly? Maybe it makes him feel better, even if Cynne's still blasting the area.

Chespin and Charcadet hop on the board with him; Farfetch'd and Honedge can both at least sort of fly and they do that.

"Far," mumbles Farfetch'd, around his leek. (Those Zubats on our side?)

"Hoonnnnnnnnnn" echoes Honedge. (Looks that way. Come on, old friend.)

... It's unfortunate, but true, that this free-roaming sword school doesn't have a lot of heavy earthmoving equipment. But, despite some fearful looks from Chespin and Charcadet, they *do* have energy and enthusiasm.

DG: Dirk Swordsman has contributed a risky Brute Action toward his party's challenge, Dynamite.
<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

"I see..." Lily nods to Chartreuse thoughtfully, and while she doesn't smile back, she doesn't give the impression of being a woman who smiles often in any case. "I hope to do the same."

Their own potential...

Dog could be a Houndoom. At 'Sup' she barks in greeting, and then protects!! ...until she's done, at which point she barks happily at Chespin and then pads over to Lily.

The Zubat horde is defeated, eventually. Lily notices Chartreuse catching one, and considers doing the same, but instead she is presented with a strange stone. "Oh," Lily says. "It is different. I sense a power in this rock... It's suffused with Ice."

"Thank you," Lily says. "Things like this might be key to defeating the Ten Wise Men." She nods to Citan. "I wonder..."

"A nod to Dirk. "Or something," she says. "I'm used to animals from our world. And one of your Officers gave me this Charmander..." Eevee and Charmander pad along at her side with Dog; she hasn't returned them to their Pokeballs yet. That changes by the time they emerge from the cave system. And there, Lily sees...

"No!" Lily calls in anger, and indeed--Lily can fly. But doing so would face him alone, and it would mean leaving the Pokemon to their fate. Lily watches Cynne for a moment longer in frustration--and then breaks away, following Citan. "Right," she says. "I'll handle it." A pause. "Dirk, Chartreuse... I apologize if this is an issue, but I don't have time to rely on just my Pokemon." She sees Dirk moving. "While you handle the above, I'll handle below!"

Sigils like circuit boards light up on Lily's body, visible at and below her neck, at her wrists, on her hands--and they light up blue as she starts to emit ice magic to hold the rocks in place, to slow them and create a shell to protect against more. It's a lot of raw power, especially with Citan's help. But--

"Gh--" THere's a lot of rock face, and more every moment as Cynne continues his attack. "No!" she starts, and at her hip, one of her Pokeballs rattles... and rattles... and bursts open!

Eevee rushes out, and nips at Lily. "Eevee, what?" she starts, trying to split her attention--and then Eevee climbs up her pant leg, nosing into her jacket pocket. "What are you--"

The Ice Stone falls to the ground, and the Eevee hops down against it, rubbing her face into the smooth surface. She begins to glow, brilliantly--

"What? What are you--"

Gleam, and glow, and shine, and soon in a flash of radiance, Eevee is transformed:

Glaceon appears at Lily's feet, and in a rush, turns to the rock face and reinforces Lily's ice magic with its own frigid breath!

Between the power Citan has given her and Glaceon's newfound might, will it be enough? With Dirk handling the matter above, maybe it will.

<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

"If that's how you feel, then I believe it." Chartreuse replies with a nod. "And, you're welcome! I do hope it helps."

Finally, they make it to the summit. The moon is shining high in the sky, bathing the area in moonlight. And here, they're treated to a rare sight, as Citan points out the gathering.

"Oh, the Clefairy are coming out..." Chartreuse whispers, awed. Very few people get the opportunity to see something like this. Singing and dancing in the moonlight... There are Clefable here, too, and that sight is even more rare.

She's glad she was here to see this.

...Unfortunately, they're not the only one who have. A demonic creature appears, silhouetted by the moon.

"The Ten Wise Men...!? They're not even above bullying the Clefairy..." Chartreuse mutters through clenced teeth.

"...It's fine! I'm not gonna judge - you do what you have to!" Chartreuse calls over to Lily. Once again, she reaches for her Pokeballs.

"Farfetch'd! Lend them a hand!" Chartreuse calls out. Once again her Farfetch'd emerges, joining Dirk's Pokemon(and an entire swarm of Zubat?? They're not attacking, she's not going to complain) in bringing his leek blade to bear against the stone.

Chartreuse isn't going to let them do this alone, though. She draws out her shovel and jumps right in, using it to help shift some of the rocks. And as she does...

...She watches, impressed, as Eevee evolves - taking up the Ice Stone of her own free will to help Lily...

"...Amazing." Chartreuse breathes out - then gets back to work.

Cynne growls, his pride clearly wounded. With a flourish of his wings, he
exclaims, "This little victory means nothing. Our masters' plan proceeds
apace!" and disappears into the night. His minions beat a hasty retreat with

As you pack up and get ready to leave, one of the Fairy-type Pokemon, a pale
pink creature known as Clefairy, hops up and down excitedly, gesturing to
one of the piles of rocks. Wow! There's a small disk-shaped machine known as

<Pose Tracker> Citan Uzuki has posed.

Likely, he would have been able to shift some of the rock himself. But it seems to him in the tension of the moment a better thing to recruit Lily's aid in this: her powers would surely be able to shift more of the rock and faster in a moment where time is of the essence. It's become clear that Cynne is not alone, either: more of his ilk have swarmed the mountain, similarly subjecting it to destructive blasts of magic.

But Lily is not alone. Her Eevee comes to her aid and, with the power of that stone, becomes something different than what it had been and lends its power to her.

Lily is not alone: even the Zubats, previous menace though they might have been, are keen to rescue their fellow Pokemon in peril.

And Lily is not alone, for Dirk and his school of Pokemon are eager to pitch in however they can, moving whatever rock and stone they can.

Lily is not alone: leek and shovel alike see to the very last of the ice-blasted rock, and a cheer comes up from the trapped Fairy Pokemon as they flood out of the buried cave and into the moonlight.

With the Fairy Pokemon thus freed, the Zubats are able to turn their attentions upon a new foe:

    Cynne.

Here there sounds the scree that must greet the end of the world. Even one such as Cynne cannot stand against it and shouting his curses, he flees into the night (chased by Zubats).

Peace again settles over Mt. Moon. The Fairy Pokemon, after they've ascertained that they are all in good health (if rattled from the experience) largely slip away to their own hidey-holes.

One of them, though, stays behind. Hopping up and down to get the attention of the group, the Clefairy directs them towards a particular pile of rocks, atop which rests a single disc-shaped machine. This can teach a Pokemon a new move-- in this case, Rock Smash!

Even once the prize is claimed, the Clefairy does not disappear just yet, looking at the group as if there were something else it wanted to propose.

<Pose Tracker> Chartreuse Spinosa has posed.

Through teamwork, they manage to free the Clefairy - and then, the Zubats turn their eyes(...metaphorically) toward Cynne, who is forced to retreat... Chartreuse watches him leave... and then, heaves a sigh.

"Good work, everyone..." Chartreuse says, then offers a smile toward the Clefairy. "...Are you all alright?"

The fairy Pokemon depart... but, one remains behind.

"Oh? Do you have something to show us?" Chartreuse asks, curious. She kneels down, picking up the disc-shaped machine and examining it.

"Oh, this is a Technical Machine... This is a pretty nice find. Thank you!" Chartreuse says, offering the Clefairy a smile. She rummages for a Pokeball, sending out Sentret, and indicates the Technical Machine.

"D'you wanna learn this?" She asks. Sentret examines it nervously, pokes it...

...and then immediately retreats behind her.

With a small, fond laugh, pats him on the head.

"...It's okay. You don't have to." She says.

Sentret isn't brave enough yet for Rock Smash...

<Pose Tracker> Dirk Swordsman has posed.

After the battle.

Cynne leaves, in a horde of Zubats. Dirk sits cross-legged on a stretch of dirt. It was tiring. He was probably going all out; there's sweat drying on him. The Pokemon with him are doing much the same; Honedge, sheathed, is leaning against the nearby stone wall. Charcadet is eating a Rough Berry which, in another context, would probably be called an Avocado.

After the TM is granted, Dirk looks up. Chartreuse goes for it. He doesn't object. Sentret declines.

Chespin heaves himself up. He grips his ironwood stick firmly. "Chespin," he then states, paws going on his sides.

Dirk looks at Chespin. "... You sure, bro?"

"Ches!"

"Uh... let the foreign dudes look at it... you guys know what a TM is?"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

Lanval waves a friendly, fond farewell to the Zubat horde he has somehow pried from ceaseless hostility into... whatever just happened, as they see Cynne away from Mt. Moon. He collapses down onto his seat and works out the last of a flare-up of The Giggles(tm).

"Mmm." He eyes the gathered Pokemon, including some new faces, like... Lily has a friend there that looks a lot like the brownish fuzzy fox-cat but now she's all blue and angular, and then over by Citan there's--

Lanval decides not to look at them a second time.

Somewhere in all this, he waves a hand over to Charcadet, and then catches that Look(tm) from Honedge.

"...What?" He asks of Honedge there. "Mmm."

The Fairy Pokemon here all start to slip away, save for a prize being given by a singular one of them.

He watches the Sentret flee from the TM.

He shakes his head to Citan or Lily in case they want to subtly call in the lifeline to see Who Wants To Be a Technical Machineaire, because he has no idea. Instead, he's sitting down, vibing, and just enjoying the view of the night sky.

<Pose Tracker> Lily Keil has posed.

As it turned out... It did help.

It helped that Lily got to see a wonderful thing; it helped them all protect the Pokemon involved in making that thing happen, and their Stones.

Lily takes a few breaths, her markings fading as she stops casting. "So," she says to Glaceon, "You found your 'power'..."

"But I haven't finished finding mine. Are you willing to keep looking?"

"Ce..." The once-Eevee inclines its head, and moves to sit down at Lily's feet.

"I see. Very well."

Lily looks to where Cynne had been fighting, before, and when she looks back, she sees a Clefairy with a Technical Machine. "Learn?" Lily wonderrs, and looks to Dirk. "I don't," she says. "It... teaches some kind of technique?" she wonders. "If so, that's a very potent technology. I'll have to investigate it further."

Dog barks cheerfully. "...You want to try it?" she asks. Dog leans down on her hind legs, and barks at Dirk this time. "...Well, if he can show you how it works, I don't mind." She pauses. "You have an impressive set of moves. I'd like to see your sword style, later. I assumed that all Nedians fought only with their POkemon..."

But the Clefairy has not left, and Lily turns to it. "Yes?" she asks. "Your intention is focused on me..."

CLEFAIRY would like to battle!

The next few moments are very tense. Lily forestalls Glaceon's involvement. "No, I think it wants to face me in particular. ...Show me your power, Clefairy."

Lily has used DARK PULSE! It's NOT VERY EFFECTIVE!

Clefairy turns, and whirls, light shining from its whole body, before it emits a holy word! Clefairy has used DISARMING VOICE! It's SUPER EFFECTIVE!

Lily hits a knee, overwhelmed for a moment by the sheer power of the blast. "So, you know this kind of magic..."

Lily pulls a pokeball from her belt. "Very well. Come with me, Clefairy. And we'll find that demon."

"Clef!!"

Lanval, vibing, will see the shine of the Pokeball's effect...
