Until recently, the Jean lived with a travelling caravan of performers as their star dancer, always one step ahead of Althena's Guard and their crackdowns on simple joys. When the caravan came under attack though, Jean showed her skills as not just a dancer but truly skilled practitioner of hand-to-hand combat. Much as she'd like otherwise, she was only able to help by acknowledging her past, and she chose to travel with Hiro and Lucia in order to face the truth about herself. ...She just hasn't been willing to share even with her new friends what that truth is, or how great a shadow it casts over her life.
Background
Jean lived with Giban's Caravan for a few years prior to leaving for her current journey, and is familiar with the crackdowns of Althena's Chosen through personal experience. The truth is that there isn't even substantial rumor about where she came from before that; she was brought to the caravan, nursed to health, and has been one of them as family ever since. She even rose to become their star dancer. For a long time, she felt she could ignore her past entirely, but not anymore.
Powers and Abilities
Jean knows minor magic of the Shadow element channeled through her dances, but is hardly a sorcerer by any means. Her primary abilities stem from pure physicality, from careful aim and use of leverage along with a bit of sheer muscle. She has other skills. Good luck getting her to talk about what the 'Shadow Dragon' means.
