  • Summary: In search of filtered water, Yue comes to Ambrosius' workshop.

<Pose Tracker> Yue Rohay has posed.

It's been quite a few weeks since the invasion in Luca ended; while the Drifters and the Yevon Church have beat a temporary retreat, the city -- even under occupation -- must keep going, under a certain tension and displeasure that does not make day to day living easy.

In the midst of this... Yue is searching for Ambrosius, carrying a particular flask with her with a furrowed brow. Where could he have gone to? With Minerva around, Luca seemed the place to seek....

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Ambrosius kept to Luca often, when he didn't have anywhere else he needed to be. He kept a workshop there, after all, where he did most of his work. It had escaped the invasion unscathed - likely by direct orders.

And, as it happens, he isn't difficult to find - a tall man wrapped in a red poncho accompanied by an equally tall armored woman was incredibly easy to spot, even in a crowd.

Not that there was much of a crowd - at least, not as much as there used to be.

They can be found in front of a structure that was half-way demolished in the invasion. Ambrosius observes as a small robot - looking very much like one of the worker machina often used by the Al Bhed, but with modifications that look distinctly Veruni in origin - picks through the rubble. Salvaging? ...No, it looks more like it's cleaning things up, moving the debris so that people can pass through safely again.

Minerva stands to one side, keeping guard over the both of them with her characteristic silence as they work.

<Pose Tracker> Yue Rohay has posed.

Nor is a woman in a battered black jacket and with enormous gobs of hair that go well past her feet, it would seem. She sets close to the workshop with an arced eyebrow, cucco feather lilting upwards in thought and curiosity.

"... a salvager unit?" she inquires. "Spiran make, is it not? It is not like your usual builds."

She glances to Minerva, though that's not his usual either, given it's a Scutum...

"Good morrow, Ambrosius. I hope I am not intruding."

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Ambrosius turns as he hears Yue's voice, offering her a slight smile and a polite bow of the head as she approaches.

"You are correeect..." He confirms. "I found it...daaamaged and abaaandoned... on the Thuuunder Plaaains... I deeecided... to repaaair it... In fact...I only just fiiinished...the other day..."

That would explain why he was watching it work so intently - to make sure that everything is in order.

"It is good to see you...Miss Yue... Do not worry...it is no trouble..." With that, he turns to face her fully. "Did you...need anything... or did you simply wish...for a chat...?"

He would be fine with either, of course.

<Pose Tracker> Yue Rohay has posed.

"Meticulous as always. No broken machine will go past your eyes, will it? Given Minerva and now this..." Yue chuckles a bit richly, before remarking, "Will you also give it a name?"

A pause, as she bobs her head. "Both, I suppose. First, ah..."

She holds up the flask. It's a Veruni standard, with a taut stopper in it. "I'm afraid I may need some filtered water from you for the foreseeable future. The dear Minder's suit water filter has malfunctioned, and until I can fix that..."

She bobs her head the other way. "Well. I need not explain too much more, with her... condition."

She takes a seat nearby with an exhausted sigh as well, but a smile. "But it is not to say it is a matter of great haste, dear friend."

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

It has become something of a habit of his, hasn't it? Ambrosius pauses for a moment and then chuckles to himself, as if he only just realized it as well.

"I have not...deeecided on one yet... It took me...quiiite some time... to come up with one...for Minerva..." He replies. Minerva looks toward them for a brief moment as she is mentioned, but soon turns her attention back to keeping guard.

Ambrosius frowns a little as Yue explains the situation, nodding to himself as he observes the flask.

"I see... Then I can arraaange that for you..." He agrees with a nod. "If you are in need...of any tools... you may borrow whatever you requiiire...from my workshop..."

Ambrosius didn't often lend out his tools, but this was an exception he was willing to make.

Yue takes a seat and Ambrosius takes the opportunity to do the same, offering her a nod as she says it isn't a matter of great haste.

"Very well..." He acknowledges with a nod. "I hope she is doing alriiight...at least..."

<Pose Tracker> Yue Rohay has posed.

Yue wouldn't ever ask Ambrosius to stop, after all. She seems to be fated to be surrounded by people with an interest in resuscitating ancient technology. "I, too, have a certain pink-haired girl to thank for dear Big Shal being alive and well..."

She raises her eyebrows, as she looks to Minerva. She chuckles again. "Minerva is a good name. Best you take time with it, that you do not rush."

Her lips purse for a moment as she remarks, "... I may yet need it, or your expertise at that. And she..."

A pause. "Well. Her suit speaks volumes of her condition, much like many of our brethren."

Her lips thin at that. "The Factor is active in her."

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"Shalune Amira..." Ambrosius acknowledges, as Yue comments on a certain pink-haired girl. "...We have had our...disagreements...in the past..."

"Iiindeed..." Ambrosius agrees. He was very meticulous when it came to naming things. Everything had to fit just right.

He notes that pause, and nods quietly as she explains the situation.

"...I see... I feeeared that may be the case... but hoped it had not yet taaaken hold..." He murmurs quietly. The VR Factor influence...it could be felt everywhere. He had not yet been afflicted by it himself, but it could happen at any time - and, eventually, would.

That was the fear every one of them lived with.

<Pose Tracker> Yue Rohay has posed.

"That's right. Shalune," Yue chuckles very faintly as Ambrosius remarks that they've had disagreements. Hmm. "Is that so? I cannot say I am surprised, and yet... I want to see that talent of hers blossom."

She rubs at her chin again, chains rattling quietly.

"... I hope that you have not yet the misfortune to experience it yourself," Yue quietly asks, of the elephant in the room.

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"Talent...yes... I did not beliiieve one not of our people could take so swiiiftly to our teeechnology...and...in some cases...iiimprove on it." Ambrosius comments, and in then chuckles to himself. "...I have since...however...been proven wrong many times... and I am glad that I was..."

And then, she asks that question plainly. Ambrosius shakes his head.

"No... I have been fortunate..." He replies. "It may only be a matter of time...but I will do what I can...for as long as I am able..."

<Pose Tracker> Yue Rohay has posed.

Yue keeps mum for quite the long time. She seems to have so much to think about it. And yet...

"Did you know? The 'Granny' that she wound up spending time with... is none other than my aunt," Yue chuckles, no less tiredly. "The world has some very odd and curious designs for all of us, sometimes, I say."

She purses her lips around the feather closer.

"... that is good. Good indeed," she answers, finally, after Ambrosius says he's been fortunate. "I cannot bear to lose another so soon, after Metis."

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Yue is quiet, but Ambrosius lets her have her silence, instead glancing to a moment toward the hard-working little robot, and then toward Minerva, before looking back at Yue as she speaks once more.

"Is that so...? How curious..." Ambrosius remarks with a chuckle of his own. "Iiindeed... Iiindeed it does."

He nods to himself for a moment. He had wondered who it was...but to think it was Yue's aunt! He would have never considered that.

He nods quietly at the mention of Metis, his gaze tracking up toward the sky for a moment.

"Yes..." He replies quietly. "I can only hope we find an answer to it before we lose too many more of our bright young minds..."

<Pose Tracker> Yue Rohay has posed.

"... she still comes to see me. Despite my being in solitary. She still has strings to pull," Yue chuckles very faintly, in part revealing the lie she told Jay and Shalune for what it is: a nice little lie. Perhaps she wants to protect her aunt from any indication she has any clout or interest to the Drifters.

"Yet..." A pause, as she lets that feather of hers droop. "I wonder. I wonder sometimes... why it even started in the first place. Was it our great diaspora?"

A pause.

"What are your conjectures on it, friend?"

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"Ahh...is that so...?" Ambrosius remarks with a slight smile, slipping back into his usual speech patterns. "Well...it pleeeases me to know...that you have viiisitors...other than myself..."

He looks toward Yue, then, as she considers why it started. Ambrosius pauses, thinking it over.

"...It is...my uuunderstanding...that it has been iiinflicted upon us by Fiiilgaia's Guaaardians...both due to our...depaaarture... aaand our peeeople's aaactions... in the diiistant past..." He explains. "...They see us...as their eeenemy..."

He shakes his head.

"Seeentinel Elvis...would know more of it than I... he has been reseeearching cures for it..." He comments.

<Pose Tracker> Yue Rohay has posed.

Indeed, Yue doesn't have very many visitors. It's only the people with the clout to do it that she's allowed to visit... which is why this entire episode in Spira has been so fascinating.

Yet somehow, she thinks, it isn't a coincidence.

"... inflicted by the Guardians... hmm?" she quietly muses. "That would make sense. They are the power that sustains the world, after all. Yet I wonder..."

She furrows her brow.

"Do they have such control? I have often pondered this... the way they beggared help from the Drifters. Like they have no choice. Their world is dying... as are we. Did they expend such great power and effort to just spite us?"

A quiet consideration.

"Yet I cannot deny what you say. There are indeed representatives, like that shaman and spirit we saw, that truly feel that way." [WATCH] Noeline has connected.

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Ambrosius nods, and then pauses, listening as Yue considers his words. Do they have such control? He thinks on it for a moment.

"...At the very leeeast...they beliiieve they do..." Ambrosius replies. "Miss Kaguya...had the opportuuunity to...iiinteract with them twiiice... The fiiirst...they iiignored her...and the seeecond...through a Shaaaman friiiend...when aaasked...the Guuuardian said as much theeemselves..."

He shakes his head.

"Peeerhaps to them...it is a neeecessary cost...or peeerhaps...as you say...it is simple spite..." He says, then pauses as she mentions the shaman and the spirit they saw.

"You speak of...Miss Catenna, and..." He pauses, trying to remember the name. "The Seraph, Lanval..."

He goes quiet for a moment, considering his words.

"...I do not blame Miss Catenna...for her feelings toward us... It would seem...her peeeople suffered greeeatly at our hands...when we first arriiived..." He murmurs quietly. "As for the Seraph...the chaaange in his demeeeanor is reeecent...and I am...as of yet uuuncertain...as to what caused it..."

He had not been as aggressive the last time they met. It was unusual.

<Pose Tracker> Yue Rohay has posed.

"I see... so Kaguya had direct interaction? I confess I was not aware of that... everything I hear, of course, was filtrated through the walls of my prison," Yue remarks.

She bobs her head with a quiet hum. "... ah. You speak of the people of Elru. I heard it was... quite the event, was it not? And in so short a time, Laila Belle has risen, around the control zones."

Rather a peculiar phrasing, though where Yue was during that time is quite the mystery itself.

"Yes, I mean those two... hmm. It bears something in mind."

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"That is correeect..." Ambrosius confirms with a nod. "I was not there myseeelf...so my knowleeedge is only seeecond-hand..."

He nods again, as she comments on their arrival, and how it was quite the event.

"I was too young at the time...to fiiight personally... so I only wiiitnessed it from afar..." He comments, then chuckles ruefully. "In the...foolishness of my youuuth... I regretted this... feeling that I missed an oppooortunity to earn renown... I know better than that now."

"But iiindeed... it was eeestablished quickly..." He comments - though the peculiar phrasing isn't lost on him.

He nods, as well, as she confirms her meaning, and thinks on it for a moment.

<Pose Tracker> Yue Rohay has posed.

There's just as tired a smile on Yue as she listens. Ambrosius was quite young then... she vaguely remembers, still, the days in which she could still see Metis... and where she heard of him for the first time. It wasn't until later, though... perhaps she should have acted faster.

"... it heartens me to hear you say that. Even if others may not view the same," Yue expresses. "And even if orders may still shackle us both tighter than any pair of cuffs like these can..."

Her shackles jangle for a moment longer.

"I have some... suspicions, but I need more evidence before I can even confirm anything. But the difference between even you and I, my friend... even just physically. Surely you have noticed it. But I need more to make it more than a hunch."

Yue's never borne the physical stature or power of a Veruni, even in her televised death games. Though with people like Kaguya, it wasn't unheard of either...

"I should fetch that water from you, so I may make the medicine. Would I be able to bother you for that now?"

She hands the flask over.

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"Iiindeed..." Ambrosius murmurs. Orders could, at times, be the tightest shackles of all.

He observes her curious, as she speaks of her suspicions, and the differences between the two of them.

"...Ceeertainly... I had notiiiced... but I did not consiiider..." He pauses for a moment, frowning. Was she insinuating what he thought she was...? He considers asking, but for now, elects not to. If she intended to gether more evidence, then doubtlessly they would know one way or another eventually. Better to avoid speculation.

He nods, though, accepting the flask and standing from the bench as she decides its time to fetch the water.

"Iiindeed... Let us reeeturn to my workshop... everything we need is there..." He replies.

<Pose Tracker> Yue Rohay has posed.

"... all I can say right now is that I unequivocably owe Big Shal my life," Yue smiles weakly as she steps inside in gratitude, to get set on the work of procuring filtered water and with it, medicine for the Minder. "My thanks to you, dear friend."
