Calamity
"... An ending to a sad farce I let linger far too long."
- -- K.K., the Trial Knight
Calamity is an organization created by an alliance of Siegfried, Ganondorf, and K.K. By gathering Ganondorf's forces, the remnants of Odessa, and Metal Demons still loyal to their former commander, they have set out to save Filgaia from the dangers of Solaris, to save Lunar from the dangers of Zophar, and to control the world for its own good. While they have a goal that many Drifters might share, the means they employ are ones that few Drifters could ever agree with.
NOTE: Calamity is an organization that will form over the course of Chapter 3, Act 1. As such, please be aware that some details in this news file may change based on the course of roleplay.
History
The fall of the Metal Demons and Odessa shook the world. Additionally, revelations at Pentagulia led to the realization that Lunar is threatened by a nearly unknown dark god called Zophar. This led to an alliance between three leaders:
- Siegfried, a former Quarter Knight and the resurrected commander of the Metal Demons.
- Ganondorf Dragmire, the so-called King of Evil who threatened Filgaia in the days of the Elw.
- K.K., the Trial Knight, a Seraph who has always opposed humanity.
They have decided to save both worlds, understanding their fates to be linked. This means waging war against Solaris and Althena's Guard, as forces that lay in the shadows and might endanger both worlds. They gathered the remains of Odessa to accomplish this, along with their own resources.
Culture and Outlook
Calamity is an alliance of like-minded individuals, who wish to save Filgaia and Lunar both. They are less concerned with saving Energy Nede, but see it as useful to their ends. They tend to adopt a position of "the ends justify the means," and recognize both worlds as teetering on the brink. In a sense, they are enemies with groups that Drifters have long opposed. However, they are ruthless and unforgiving in a way that few Drifters are.
Personal loyalty to at least one of the three principal commanders -- Siegfried, Ganondorf, or K.K. -- is recommended for characters in Calamity. Calamity characters are typically people who have been hurt or betrayed by the world; they want to fix it, but have often lost sight of how some actions can only make the world worse.
Notes for OCs
- Calamity is not a formal organization. While some subgroups, such as Brionac, may be, there is no overarching hierarchy in Calamity.
- Metal Demons loyal to Siegfried, former Odessa personnel, and Hellions who have ties to the Trial Knight are good concepts for OC's.
- Calamity characters are typically asking the question, "How far would I go to save the world?" and answering it in a way that is self-destructive.
- Calamity characters should be okay with hurting people, having questionable allies, and going to extreme means. At the end of the day, they are not anti-heroes.
- That said, Calamity's level of outward aggression and harshness will increase gradually over the course of Chapter 3. The arc is one of taking things too far.
