  • Log: Skepticism in the Haunted Manor
  • Cast: Sephilia Lampbright, Ambrosius, Fei Fong Wong
  • Where: Silver Coast
  • Date: 7-30-2017
  • Summary: Sephilia, Fei, and Ambrosius descend upon the Haunted Manor, interested in investigating the rumors surrounding it.

==============================<* Silver Coast *>==============================

The Silver Coast is the name given to the northeastern coastline of Ignas. The origins of the name are lost to history, but residents of the area tend to assume it reflects either the famous white-sand beaches northeast of Lacour, or the region's distance from the desertification slowly spreading out from the continent's heart.

The Coast and its surrounding territories are claimed by the Kingdom of Lacour, and contain a wide assortment of biomes, from plains to rocky hills and mountains to rolling beaches. Major roads between Lacour and its next two largest settlements - the Port City of Hilton and the Academy City of Linga - are heavily patrolled by the kingdom's soldiers, and are generally safe. The hinterlands, however, are plagued by monsters of all types; researchers in Linga can find a variety of uses for the body parts of monsters, and do a brisk trade with Adventurers seeking to protect the population and make a little coin to boot.

DG: A party led by Sephilia Lampbright is now entering Haunted Manor.
DG: Party formation is now over. An Entry Challenge will now be drawn and displayed to the party.

 The Haunted Manor stands before the party. Never is its appearance the same,
 and it welcomes guests differently everytime too. This time, the welcome is
 rather loud. As the party steps towards the front gates, shadowy figures on
 the roof of the manor begin hurling down various things! Bottles, furniture,
 weaponry, anything they can get their hands on. Are they trying to make you
 leave, or force you inside?
=Dungeon Conditions: Injure===================================================
<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia has been hearing rumors about a haunted house for months now but has not been able to work up the courage to come out and investigate...until now.

Actually she's been eager to investigate it, but something else always seemed to come up. Today, though, she's found her way to the front gates of the haunted house, and...is met by strange figures on the roof throwing things at her?!

"This is totally rude!" she exclaims, dodging a hurled bottle. "I think that one was still full of something and I don't even want to know where you got it up there," she cries in irritation.

"Ugh, let's hurry to the door--they can't get us from up there!" She matches action to word, dodging and ducking her way forward.

DG: Sephilia Lampbright has contributed a Agility Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Hon Hon Hon Hon.
<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

A 'Haunted Manor'. A building supposedly haunted by the spirits of the deceased that seek to lash out at the living.

Foolish nonsense.

Ambrosius had heard those rumors as well. There must, he concluded, be another explanation for the mysterious goings-on in the area. Perhaps there was some form of advanced technology at work here? If he could secure it for the Veruni, it might prove advantageous.

He had latched onto a party that was heading in that direction, but when they got there, they met with immediate resistance.

Ambrosius draws Conversator, shooting several objects out of the air before they can collide with him.

"Agreed..." He says with a nod toward Sephilia. "Let us...make haaaste..."

He holsters his revolver then starts to glide toward the door, dodging falling objects to the best of his ability.

DG: Ambrosius has contributed a Agility Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Hon Hon Hon Hon.
<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei Fong Wong would like to do anything EXCEPT visit the haunted manor again but he hears Sephilia is going along and so Fei joins the party for it in the hopes that he'll find more stuff to sell to Morgan so he can EAT FOOD without having to rely on Bart's generosity. It's a perfectly valid reason to engage in an adventure you know.

He says, "Well Sephilia, the important thing to remember about this place is that it's awful and--"

A chair crashes against his face. "And that it likes to mess with you!" He shouts as he starts bounding about the room in an attempt to avoid getting splatttered any further!

"I really hope we don't have to stay the night again..." He mutters, glancing over to Ambrosius briefly.

DG: Fei Fong Wong has contributed a Agility Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Hon Hon Hon Hon.
DG: The party led by Sephilia Lampbright has failed this challenge! The party gained 2 exploration! If anyone needs to use party
management commands, do so now. Otherwise, the next round's GM may begin the next round with +dungeon/draw.
<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephy and her friends make it inside, but not without taking a bit of a beating. Sephilia, breathing heavily to catch her breath from the mad dash, brushes a rotten bit of unidentifiable refuse from her shoulder. "Ugh, this is already less cool than I hoped a haunted house would be," she complains. "But, no turning back--I know that wasn't water in those bottles. Onward ho!"

DG: Fei Fong Wong has drawn a new Challenge.
=======================<* CHALLENGE - Hide and Seek *>========================

--------------------------< Challenge Information: >--------------------------
 This old room is filled with broken furniture, covered in blankets. It's
 quite large, and the furniture is all over the place. Before long, shadows
 gather behind the party, forming a massive humanoid with glowing red eyes.
 It seeks you out, and it doesn't look like a good idea to engage it in this
 room! You could use the furniture to move around unseen, making sure to
 watch where the owner is looking. Or you could use it to slow it down!
=Dungeon Conditions: Injure===================================================
<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei Fong Wong's feelings about the Haunted Manor are reinforced by what happens already. He is smashed by chairs and bottles and is a complete mess by the time he gets out the other side. He sighs deeply and contemplates about the unfairness of life as he makes it into another old room with the party.

It's a room covered in blankets and furniture. Fei turns his head and says, "Shit--!" and he ducks down behind a covered chair as a massive shadowy humanoid with glowing red eyes rises up from the uh... the uh shadows. It sniffs about and stretches out its slender arms to try and catch you....!!

Thinking quickly, he draws out a tarp from his artist's toolkit and wraps it over his head like he himself is a ghost. There might be room for three people if people really want to rely on Fei here, otherwise he's going to try and sneak towards the other end on his own.

"This plan is foolproof." He tells his friends.

DG: Fei Fong Wong has used his Tool Artist's Toolkit toward his party's challenge, Hide and Seek.
<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia joins Fei under the tarp, rummaging through her satchel. "Dad faced something like this once, he wrote about it in his journal--he used a tactic very similar to this," she whispers approvingly, showing the journal page in question--with a scrawled series of pictures of a stick figure and a tarp with arrows showing the direction of movement.

They aren't good drawings.

DG: Sephilia Lampbright has used her Tool Dad's Journal toward her party's challenge, Hide and Seek.
<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Ambrosius tended to be a fellow who let troubles wash over him. However, even he is looking a little frustrated by the time they actually make it inside the manner.

"Indeed..." He mutters in response. He had no intention of staying the night here. He'd find what he was looking for, then get out.

He follows Fei's lead when the shadow of a massive humanoid figure appears. He does not, however, join Fei underneath the tarp. He's a rather tall fellow, after all...

...But his poncho makes him look fairly ghost-like, himself, so he follows carefully - almost appearing to glide along - behind Fei and Sephilia, using the furniture for cover.

DG: Ambrosius has contributed a Wits Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Hide and Seek.
DG: The party led by Sephilia Lampbright has passed this challenge! The party gained 16 exploration! If anyone needs to use party
management commands, do so now. Otherwise, the next round's GM may begin the next round with +dungeon/draw.
<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

"They have ghosts on the moon too?" Fei asks. He looks at the drawing though and it seems to explain things well enough for him to understand at least.

There's promptly a minigame with moving ghosts (top down style) where Seph and Fei under the tarp have to avoid getting too close to the ghost while also covering the taller Ambrosius as best they are able. They're able to make it to the door and passthrough moments before the creature sees them. Fei lashes out and slams the door behind them.

"Whew." He says. "Close one."

And obviously the next room won't be even worse, he reasons as he turns to take a look--

DG: Ambrosius has drawn a new Challenge.
==================<* CHALLENGE - Obligatory Torch Puzzle *>===================

--------------------------< Challenge Information: >--------------------------
 Great torches light up the next hallway, but there's no exit? Some torches
 are lit, others aren't. Must they all be lit? Must they all NOT be lit? Some
 of the torches are missing, too. Could it be there's a pattern to respect?
 You'd better get started or you'll be here all night.
=Dungeon Conditions: Treasure=================================================
<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"'Ghosts' are...merely a raaationalization for...haaappenings one...does not understaaand..." Ambrosius comments, glancing back toward Fei. They'd shut out that mysterious humanoid figure, so at least for now they wouldn't have to worry about it. "There is...somethiiing else...at work here..."

With that said, he turns his attention to the room ahead of them. Well, it was more like a corridor - the walls were lined with several sets of torches, each one in various states of being lit.

"Hmm...I beliiieve we...may need to...extiiinguish some of...these...and light...ooothers..." He comments. "I can extiiinguish...if one of you...can provide flaaames..."

And from there it was just a matter of figuring out which torches they need to do things with.

DG: Ambrosius has contributed a Wits Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Obligatory Torch Puzzle.
<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

"Nuh-uh, they're totally real! My Dad faced them a whole bunch! Look, here's another time he faced ghosts! And...huh. Do they all cast shadows like that?" She points at one of the torches, that has an extra shadow! "Maybe that's A Clue!" She holds up her hand, focusing for a moment, brow furrowing in concentration, and a small globe of light forms above it. Moving up and down the hallway, she shines her light on the torches, marking out in her journal which ones cast an extra shadow.

DG: Sephilia Lampbright has used her Tool Dad's Journal toward her party's challenge, Obligatory Torch Puzzle.
<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

"Oof," Fei says. "Not this again." Does he remember exactly what he did last time? He doesn't actually remember what he did last time. He glances over to Ambrosius and says, thoughtfully, "Does it really matter? If it looks and acts like a ghost because of science or because of magic or because of something else--it's still basically a ghost, right?"

He scratches his head. He doesn't think he has anything in his kit for this but he does say, "Well I can try using chi to ignite it."

Upon direction he will try using guided shot to set some on fire. Or uh. Hopefully not break the puzzle?

DG: Fei Fong Wong has contributed a Wits Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Obligatory Torch Puzzle.
DG: The party led by Sephilia Lampbright has passed this challenge! The party gained 17 exploration! If anyone needs to use party
management commands, do so now. Otherwise, the next round's GM may begin the next round with +dungeon/draw.
<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"That is...oversimplificaaation...once you...understaaand it...it can be controlled... But...to claim it is...merely the...work of a 'ghost'....is to avoid...understaaanding..." Ambrosius claims, then glances toward Sephilia.

"No disrespeeect meant...but...as I said...it is easy to raaationalize...something you...do not understaaand...as a mere 'ghooost'..." He shakes his head dismissively...but Sephilia's globe does shed some light on the situation.

Literally.

"Iiinteresting..." He murmurs. By determining which torches cast the extra shadows, they're able to figure out which one needs to be lit and which one needs to be extinguished. Chi, as it happens, does make a proper substitute for fire, in this regard.

Perhaps the manor is merely responding to the life force within...?

DG: Sephilia Lampbright has drawn a new Challenge.
======================================<* CHALLENGE - Mirror Mirror *>=======================================
|Type: Exploration |Dungeon Ability: Wits      |Challenge Rating: 2          |
-----------------------------------------< Challenge Information: >-----------------------------------------
 The party enters the safefy of a hall of mirrors. There are dozens, perhaps
 hundreds of mirrors in this massive room, and what's worse, something is
 following you. You can't make it out, but the shadowy beast is definitely
 there. Perhaps you could use the mirrors to confuse it, or deploy some
 ancient light source meant to blind it, if you could only figure out how to
 angle the mirrors... or lure it inside the beam!
=Dungeon Conditions: Injure===================================================
<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia scowls. "Nuh-uh," she repeats insistently. "If my Dad says ghosts are real then they are. He's a famous...adventurer...wow, this is kind of crazy! Look at all these mirrors! What kind of person has a room like this?" She eyes Ambrosius with a sidelong glance.

"Maybe...a ghost?!"

Then something moves in one of the mirrors.

"D-did anyone else see that? is there...is there something else in here with us? Please tell me I'm not imagining--even though that's less reassuring..."

DG: Sephilia Lampbright has contributed a Wits Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Mirror Mirror.
<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei Fong Wong is thinking: Why does this guy keep enlongating his vowels? Is it an accent? If it's an accent, from where? He doesn't recognize it. He wants to ask about it but thinks he'd come off as an asshole if he did. Like, maybe it's not just an accent, maybe it's some kind of vocal lisp? It's the worst because it makes his lecturing last like twice as long as it would normally.

He bristles faintly but the next area opens up. Fei walks in after Sephilia.

"Hm..." Fei says. "No, I think there is something here." he rubs the back of his neck. "I mean I believe in science as much as any, but we might as well follow the rules here and use that to move on."

He reaches into his kit and removes a small handheld mirror.

"Well we can cheat a little." He says.

DG: Fei Fong Wong has used his Tool Artist's Toolkit toward his party's challenge, Mirror Mirror.
<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Ambrosius shakes his head slightly. A 'famous adventurer'? That didn't automatically make him correct. But, he supposed the girl was not exactly in a position where she could be unbiased. It would be unwise to press the issue.

"Hmm... Perhaps it was meant...for entertaaainment...or, perhaps...to confuse intruuuders..." He replies.

Intruders like them.

And...he pauses in his movement when Sephilia mentions something moving. He glances around, and...

"...I see it, as well..." He replies. Slowly, he draws Conversator and his eyes scan the room.

There. A few mirrors that they could turn. If they turned them in the right way, then maybe they could blind this creature. But it might notice if they just ran up and started turning them...a bullet from Conversator would have to do the trick.

He glances toward Fei as he draws out a mirror, and nods. Yes, it likely wouldn't be expecting that. They could use that to keep track of its position, and...

"Miss Laaampbright..." Ambrosius says, lowering his voice to a whisper. "When I give the signal...could you direct that...Liiight sooorcery of yours...into the nearest mirror...?"

DG: Ambrosius has contributed a Wits Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Mirror Mirror.
DG: The party led by Sephilia Lampbright has passed this challenge! The party gained 16 exploration! If anyone needs to use party
management commands, do so now. Otherwise, the next round's GM may begin the next round with +dungeon/draw.
<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia nods, and on Ambrosius' signal, creates another ball of light--shining into the mirror, it reflects along the path that has been created, and shines directly into the shadow beast's eye! There's a howl, as of something hungry being denied a meal, and Sephy shudders. "Let's hurry, before it gets its vision back!"

DG: Fei Fong Wong has drawn a new Challenge.
=======================<* CHALLENGE - Ghostly Games *>========================
|Type: Exploration |Dungeon Ability: Wits      |Challenge Rating: 1          |
--------------------------< Challenge Information: >--------------------------
 The gaming room of the manor lies ahead, with its countless board games laid
 out on small tables. Each of them without exception is in-progress, as if
 awaiting input. The door leading in closes behind the party and locks, and
 the door leading out is locked too. Perhaps completing a few of the games
 would open the door?
=Dungeon Conditions: Stupify==================================================
<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei rushes through the next door with the party and finally, finally the best room is shown to them. The ROOM OF GAMES!

Vanquish the Veruni (wow! Racist!), Metal Demon Mayhem (WOW! RACIST!) and other assorted board games are present. Fei doesn't seem particularly interested in those, but he laughs heartily as he sees a chutes and ladders knock off and even checkerboards strewed about.

"Finally," He says. "Something that's not trying to kill us." He says as he ducks down near 'Wind Mouse Trap' and starts playing the game.

"We're probably not playing against ghosts or anything." He agrees hopefully.

DG: Fei Fong Wong has contributed a Wits Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Ghostly Games.
<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia lets out a "wooooooow" on seeing the game room. "These look like fun! Maybe. Some of them, anyway. I don't know the rules though...they don't have ANY of these games on Lunar!" Then she spots a chessboard. "Oh, I know this one! I'm...not GOOD at it though."

Chess requires patience, and patience isn't one of Sephilia's virtues.

"Okay, so if I move this guy like this..."

DG: Sephilia Lampbright has contributed a Wits Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Ghostly Games.
<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

This...wasn't exactly what he had expected to see next. He looks over the board games in surprise. Were they...actually expected to indulge in this tomfoolery? Were these actual Filgaian board games, or had they been created for the purpose of the house?

Veruni games were so clearly superior, but it looked as if he had no choice but to participate....

He looks toward what seemed to be a set of planks stacked into a tower. One of them juts out partially. He goes over to attempt to pull it out...

...And the manor rumbles ominously in response, as the tower shakes somewhat.

...No, probably better to find a different one.

DG: Ambrosius has contributed a Wits Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Ghostly Games.
DG: The party led by Sephilia Lampbright has passed this challenge! The party gained 12 exploration! If anyone needs to use party
management commands, do so now. Otherwise, the next round's GM may begin the next round with +dungeon/draw.
<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei Fong Wong ends up never actually catching the wind mouse (WIND MOUSE TRAP IS REALLY HARD) but eventually Sephilia manages to complete the chess game (she luckily only has to finish the game) and Ambrosius draws the right Planka out from the Planka TOwer and the door seems satisfied with their prowess.

Fei looks kind of dissapointed but he says, "I guess we have to move on, then." He dusts himself off and gets a-following the others out.

DG: Ambrosius has drawn a new Challenge.
===============<* CHALLENGE - I Just Cleaned That! En Garde! *>===============
|Type: Exploration |Dungeon Ability: Combat    |Challenge Rating: 1          |

 Stepping into the next room proves to be a mistake. As their feet comes to
 rest on a long, obviously valuable carpet laid out in a small hallway,
 shadowy manservants of the manor turn to glare. They just got done cleaning
 the carpet and they are not happy.
=Dungeon Conditions: Injure===================================================
<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Past the game room was yet another corridor. Torches line this one as well, but fortunately it does not appear as if they have to light or extinguish. As soon as their feet come into contact with the carpet, however...

A low hissing noise soon reaches their ears.

Shadows emerge from the woodwork, each one wielding some form of cleaning implement. Their forms are wispy, vaguely humanoid, and indistinct, but the implements they wield seem all too real. Not necessarily deadly, but it'd certainly smart if they smacked you with one of them!

Ambrosius draws his knife, and parries as a broom comes soaring toward his head.

In his other hand a ring of water had begun to form and he fires this off now.

It flies straight through the shadowy figure...instead splashing onto the carpet. A cleansing, relaxing mist will soon spread throughout the room, incidentally, easing some of the party's fatigue. In response, the shadow gives off a shriek. Whether it was of pain, fear, or rage, he couldn't tell.

"Hmm...interesting..." He murmurs.

DG: Ambrosius has used his Tool Deluge toward his party's challenge, I Just Cleaned That! En Garde!.
<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia, instead of being frightened, lets out a whoop of excitement. "Ghosts! You see? You see! Haha!" She brings out Chauncey, and, in moments, is riding on the back of the giant-sized doll. "I betcha they smash nice and good, though! GO, CHAUNCEY! FOXINGTON POUND!"

DG: Sephilia Lampbright has contributed a Combat Basic Action toward her party's challenge, I Just Cleaned That! En Garde!.
<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei Fong Wong follows after Ambrosius. Of course he's expecting something terrible after the relaxing board game room which Fei could've stayed in for hours if he had been given the opportunity. He sinks into a crouch and narrows his eyes as he peers towards the broom swinging towards Ambrosius. That's it, he thinks, and there's something he can do to truly get their attention!

Fei draws out his RPS badge and sets it RIGHT ON THE FLOOR and backs up. That's right.

He just littered intentionally.

His taunt complete, Fei lashes out with fist and foot, using his INTENTIONAL LITTER as a kind of bait!

"They seem to have some sort of personality to them, even if it's not really complex--" Fei says.

DG: Fei Fong Wong has used his Tool RPS Badge toward his party's challenge, I Just Cleaned That! En Garde!.
DG: The party led by Sephilia Lampbright has passed this challenge! The party gained 22 exploration! If anyone needs to use party
management commands, do so now. Otherwise, the next round's GM may begin the next round with +dungeon/draw.
<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Ambrosius sends Sephilia a frown as he parries another swing of a broom. He doubted she would understand the concept of a hologram, so he doesn't bother to explain.

"I believe these are...mere projeeections...there must be a...deviiice of some kind...nearby..." He replies.

Several of the shadows circle around Fei as he drops the RPS badge, their eyes narrowing. When he goes to pick it up they descend upon him, but they are the ones who suffer for it - punches and kicks crash through their implements, just as Chauncey smashes through the implements possessed by the shadows on the other end of the hallway.

The shadows themselves are dispersed, but they possess no means of actually harming our heroes with their tools smashed to pieces. They hiss and retreat back into the woodwork, unable to hinder the party's progress any further.

DG: Sephilia Lampbright has drawn a new Challenge.
===================================<* CHALLENGE - The Vengeful General *>===================================
|Type: Final       |Dungeon Ability: Combat    |Challenge Rating: 2          |
-----------------------------------------< Challenge Information: >-----------------------------------------
 Finally, the party reaches the foyer, the great entry hall of the manor. How
 odd that the adventure ends at the entrance. Shadows gather, and the manor's
 owner appears, no longer cloaked by shadows. An old man in an ancient
 military outfit, highly decorated, face full of spite and regret. He
 brandishes an old flintlock rifle, while the shadows come alive to form
 soldiers that do his bidding.
=Dungeon Conditions: Wound====================================================
<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

"I really think you ought to consider that maybe ghosts are a science YOU don't understand," Sephilia offers as they advance into the foyer, still riding on Chauncey's back. "I mean, just look at this guy and tell me he's not a ghost!" She points at the shadowed ghostly apparition ahead, then lets out a yelp as the ghost aims his flintlock at her and pulls the trigger!

Fortunately for Sephy, Chauncey moves quickly, interposing his big paw between her and the bullet. And then...well, that's when chaos ensues.

DG: Sephilia Lampbright has contributed a Combat Basic Action toward her party's challenge, The Vengeful General.
<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei Fong Wong isn't entirely sure about it himself. He is sure a lot of what's going on here CAN be explained by science, if not everything! But he isn't going to just assume that they aren't effectively ghosts anyway. Maybe people lived here. Maybe they did! And maybe some sort of strange science is keeping them here. "It's a process..." He murmurs, largely to himself. "Not a set of facts but...."

He picks up his RPS Badge and jogs after Sephilia, still gripping it tightly when--

"...THIS ASSHOLE!" Fei shouts suddenly, startlingly pissed off by his existence. He leaps through the air, no doubt taking several flintlock shots to the chest in the process but he doesn't care--he just wants to beat the heck out of this guy.

"Every time! This guy!" Fei bellows. "I'll show him!! Not this time!!!"

DG: Fei Fong Wong has used his Tool RPS Badge toward his party's challenge, The Vengeful General.
<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

"I have...considered the noootion...and also...discaaarded it..." Ambrosius replies, shaking his head. "An old man...with the power of shaaadow...is not necessarily...a ghost..."

He does, however, appear to be a threat. Ambrosius draws Conversator with one hand, while water begins to swirl dangerously around the other. He fires a couple of shots toward the old man as a distraction before diving for the nearest pillar. The water soon converges into a whirling blade, which is soon sent flying towards the soldiers he had conjured.

Undoubtedly, Fei and Chauncey could deal with the general himself. He would deal with the rest himself.

DG: Ambrosius has used his Tool Deluge toward his party's challenge, The Vengeful General.
DG: You have overcome the dungeon's trials! This run is a success!
DG: The party led by Sephilia Lampbright has successfully explored Haunted Manor!

 Following the defeat or retreat of the old man, the party realizes he
 dropped his rifle. It's masterfully made, a testament to ancient technology.
 It's not an ARM, but it's the next best thing, a functional flintlock rifle
 that's survived thousands of years. It packs quite a punch, too!
=Dungeon Conditions: Treasure=================================================
<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephy shrinks Chauncey once the battle is done and leans down to pick up the flintlock. "Hey, this is pretty cool!" the girl exclaims. "Bam, pow! Do you two mind if I keep this? I think I need to have one of these around, just, y'know, for backup. And because people might stop looking at me funny if I have a visible weapon." Sephy's finally aware that Chauncey doesn't look like he's a capable defender when he's just in doll form...but hasn't got a clue that this isn't a modern weapon at all.

<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei drops down and approaches the flintlock rifle. He looks right down the barrel.

He steps back and says, "I don't mind." to Sephilia. "The recoil on this thing's gotta be massive though, so you'll have to be careful with it." He doesn't know much about guns, he thinks, anyway. And he doesn't really want to carry one for that matter. It's just not his style. He looks to Ambrosius. "Do you want it?" He doesn't know much about Ambrosius. Maybe he wants to collect old memoribilia.

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

The old general dissipates and Ambrosius returns Conversator to its holster. Left behind in his place...was what appeared to be a rifle of some kind. Sephilia is the one to pick it up first, and soon Ambrosius stands behind her.

"May I...take a look...?" He asks, a hand extending out past his poncho.

If she agrees, Ambrosius will look it over, testing out the balance and the mechanisms.

"Hm...this weapon...it is...quite aaancient..." He murmurs. "But...it is...in surpriiisingly good shaaape for its aaage..."

He takes a moment to look through the sights to ensure that they're functioning properly, and once he's done inspecting it he hands the rifle back to Sephilia. He already had perfectly functional weapons of his own, after all. He certainly did need this one.

"Have you...fired a weapon like this...befooore...Miss Laaampbright...? They have...quite a bit of...reeecoil...I would adviiise...you take some tiiime...to get used to it...before atteeempting...to use it seriously..." He advises.

"Aaand...I would adviiise...you find someone...who would teach you...how to shoot it properly..."

He glances toward Fei, then, who had at least one of the concerns he had.

"No...Conveeersator...is all I need..." He replies, gesturing toward where he holstered his revolver. It was definitely an interesting, if primitive, artifact...but the girl appeared to have her heart set on it, and he wasn't going to cause problems by attempting to take it from her.

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephy beams. "I'll get Ida to show me! Or Rosaline, or someone. I'm probably not going to shoot it too much, but maybe people won't treat me like a kid if I'm wearing it!" She accepts the gun back gratefully. "Besides, old things are cool. Chauncey is really old, too! Even though he doesn't show his age, do you, buddy?" She hugs Chauncey, then lets out a little exclamation.

"Oh! That reminds me! Fei! I made you a present!" She sets the butt of the flintlock against the ground, leaning it on her shoulder, then rummages through her satchel and produces...

"I called her Baroness Evangeline von Sheepington, but you can name her anything you like!" Sephy offers Fei a fuzzy woolen plush sheep doll, evidently hand-crafted with care.

<Pose Tracker> Fei Fong Wong has posed.

Fei nods to Ambrosius but doesn't seem inclined to prevent him from checking the thing out either. Instead he stretches out his arms behind him and rolls out his neck. "Oh--yeah--you found Chauncey didn't you?" He looks Chauncey over.

The Lord of Foxington can grow, move, and act. Fei has absolute trust in Chauncey....but he is kind of mysterious, isn't he?

"Huh?" Fei blinks, jarring out of his thoughts when Sephilia mentions her present. She had talked about it before but he is surprised that she has completed her work. "What--really?"

He looks down and sees that--yes!--indeed, there is a sheep plush doll now. And she has a name too, apparently. Evangeline von Sheepington.

...omfg

Fei looks into its eyes. It looks back. Fei take the doll and looks down at it. It looks back. It does not grow into a giant sheep and crush Fei, but after a moment Fei looks back up, smiling broadly.

"Heh. Haha." He rubs the back of his neck. "Thanks Sephilia. I don't know what to say." He lets his arm drop. "I guess this is what they'd call a treasure that can't be stolen." He bows his head. "I'll take good care of her, Sephilia."

<Pose Tracker> Sephilia Lampbright has posed.

Sephilia impulsively hugs Fei, the flintlock still held in one hand.

<Pose Tracker> Ambrosius has posed.

Ambrosius observes this display of friendship impassively. He hadn't found what he was hoping to find, but at least this visit wasn't a complete loss for some of them. He turns then, and leaves the two of them without a further word.

Fortunately, their visit had somehow ended with them arriving right back at the entrance, so it wasn't like he had to worry about getting lost.
