"Okay, so, five gella gets you one token, but if you want a bargain, think
about purchasing our fifty gella token pack..."

First things first -- before you can poke around the games at the festival
in Meria Boule, apparently you'll have to buy some tokens to trade to play
the games. That's right, they use their own currency here, and the exchange
rate seems dubiously steep. The good news is, you'll be able to win more and
  exchange them for valuable prizes.

One thing's for sure -- if you don't negotiate purchasing (or certain
'discounts') carefully, your wallet is taking a hit.

<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

Avril, having swooned in the aftermath of the battle against Demetrioi, had been removed -- along with her Gear -- to a safer place. In her particular case, this had ended up being Meria, where she had recooperated in the days that followed.

...Really, in the end, she had just needed to rest. She had overextended herself.

Eventually, though, rest gives way to a particular sort of unease. Not in the sense that something is unwell, but rather...
...that she must be out and about, as soon as was possible. One can only remain in bed for so long -- or even in one room, however many books there might be. Much to Rebecca and Dean's dismay, they may find rather abruptly that their patient has flown the coop. ...At least she left a note this time.

Avril's walk about town has brought her in swift fashion to the fairgrounds, whereupon she is happened upon by a rather pushy token salesman. "Think about it-- one token's good for any game here. Just fifty gella for the pack!"

"I do not have any money," Avril says, quite plainly.

The fairground worker looks Avril up and down, as if trying to square her claim with her clothing and jewelry. He gives her a dubious look. "Sure you don't want to play the games, lady?"

DG: Avril Vent Fleur has contributed a Wits Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Funny Money.
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

Lanval coincidentally ambles past with a swagger in his stagger, putting on a very silly grin while puffing out his chest with the silly novelty glasses.

"Paysh ta be a VIP! Very Invishible Pershon! Ha ha ha haaaa! No entrance feesh!"

     Beat.

"'n no way ta play gamesh."

     Beat.

"I didn't think thish through very well."

DG: Seraph Lanval has contributed a risky Wits Action toward his party's challenge, Funny Money.
<Pose Tracker> Rixia has posed.

Rixia is stumbling around Meria City after her latest bout of... well, let's not talk too much about how she entered Filgaia this time. It involved a very angry Marina and a spoilt batch of sourdough starter. She stops, though, and perks up to go--

    "Oh, Miss Avril, Miss Avril!"

She's looking super cute today on account of having to replace her clothing after the sourdough incident, in a cute silver dress with black highlights. She pauses as Avril admits she doesn't have any money.

    "Don't worry! I got this!"

Rixia squares up the fairground worker and... holds up a metal flask. "Heeey bud, you got a long shift, don'tcha? Don't you think that shift'd be a bit easier with some liquid courage, huh?"

    Rixia also has no money.

She has a lot of booze on her person at any one point, though.

These two items may be related.

DG: Rixia has used her Tool Mixed Drinks to Change Lives toward her party's challenge, Funny Money. Rally!
<Pose Tracker> Solitaire Collier has posed.

Solitaire Collier is generally pretty hesitant to visit Meria, the nation closest to ARMS, but nevertheless there is a reason she came to Meria anyway. She has heard of its festivals--perhaps she wants to DESTROY THE FESTIVAL??? Who can say.

Solitaire doesn't really recognize anyone here so it's probably safe ot presume none of them are particularly involved in ARMS. Blending in with a crowd is a good way to avoid too much notice. But it is a big risk all the same...and for what??

How are you going to even play the games without any money?

Solitaire doesn't answer her axe because she doesn't have an answer. She isn't entirely penniless but her funds are caught up in food and beverages right now so she could certainly get tokens if she was okay with risking starvation or dehydration.

But an opportunity presents itself! SOMEONE starts distrating the tender by stating they don't have money.

SOMEONE ELSE offers them a bribe!

Solitaire is just going to try and sneakily steal a sack of tokens while both these things are going on.

Please don't tell Riesenlied I didn't stop you...

"Mmn." Solitaire murmurs quietly.

DG: Solitaire Collier has contributed a Wits Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Funny Money.
<Pose Tracker> Lan Lilac has posed.

It's been a long time since Lan was in Meria City. Not much has really changed, which she's kind of grateful for; or maybe it's just that she doesn't remember all that many details.

But it's a surprise to see that the festival games are still running! A welcome surprise. Things have changed since Lan was here. Lan has changed.

But some things remain the same, like the fact that she's having to do Actual Math again to work out the price of bulk tokens. Thankfully, she's got a piece of paper she can cheat with...!

So that's why Lan is standing by the ticket booth, counting on both hands and occasionally sneaking a look at the numbers in her paku-paku. "...Oh hey guys!" she perks up. "I can help out a little, I think..."

DG: Lan Lilac has used her Tool Paku-Paku toward her party's challenge, Funny Money. Enlighten! Party Wits boosted!

<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

The salesman beetles his brow. "Hmm? What's that now? --Ain't you too young for those, little lady?"

So says the salesman, noticably accepting the mixed drink from Rixia. He takes a drink. "Well, ain't this a fine... what did you say it was?"

Meanwhile, a sizable packet of tokens is thefted! And a Seraph just strolls on in all invisible-like!

He glances at the paper that Lan produces.

"Paid in advance, did ya? Why didn't you say so sooner? And you and she are together, eh?"

He hands over a packet of tokens!

    ...

                                     FRAUD MANAGED

"I wonder... if that was right," Avril says, several minutes later.

DG: Seraph Lanval has drawn a new Challenge.

A scream breaks through the hubbub of the festival crowd. Rushing towards
the sound, you find the source of the trouble:

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

With all that nasty business at Mount Liverfeast dealt with... and some other things looming on the horizon that sort of make these distractions simultaneously bizarre to detour towards but also welcome... Lanval just laughs and waves everyone along in. It's a nice, brisk, kind of chilly day that's appropriate for the encroaching Glove Day, and maybe there's a certain someone... sometree... to thank for that gentler aftermath to what was about to brew.

"Mmm. After all that'sh gone onnnnn," he looks to the gathered. He's not sure he's met Solitaire off the top of his head, but he's drunk as hell as always and also technically does not have a head, or a brain, "'m thinkin' we oughtta enjoy the li'l fun thingsh in--"

"Help! Help me! --Shoo! Shoo!" That's a young woman's voice! That's not something to ignore, for it sounds like real trouble! And when they get there...

That young woman is dressed in mostly pink, with a triangular hairstyle. There's a few tiny little toy-like yellow cylinder-headed figures cowering amongst one another in the distance, but never mind them. She is being MENACED.

By a very tiny and energetic puppy, who is pawing at the lampost and making cute (but kind of angry) barking noises.

"...Aww, what'sh thish then?" Lanval scratches at his chin, looking to the others... then he steps forward before the still-barking puppy dog, withdraws a bottle of... something (that doesn't smell alcoholic), and pours it on the ground nearby.

"Bet ya they're jusht hungry, thirshty."

The young woman doesn't seem to acknowledge Lanval's presence!

DG: Seraph Lanval has used his Tool Holy Bottle toward his party's challenge, Suddenly Tronne Bonn!. Resilient! Party
shielded from some exhaustion next round!
<Pose Tracker> Rixia has posed.

Before Rixia knows it, she's formed a little party with people she doesn't know. Solitaire and Lan both get a double-wave from her, as she grins a bit awkwardly and says, "Hi! I'm Rixia, from Sagahli. Um, the Silver Star. Lu... Lunar?"

Lanval, however, gives her some pause. She scratches her cheek to go, "Hey, mister, um... the other day, when I was fighting the dragon. Thank you for saving me. I think I finally understand. I don't know why I can't see you before, but... you're the one who gave me water my first day in Meribus, weren't you? Thank you for that, mister!"

Before long, though, there's trouble! A young woman and her not-Lego servants are being menaced by an energetic dog and Rixia goes, "Oh no, there's trouble--"

A pause, as she looks to the puppy. It takes one look at her, and barks in her direction--

Rixia is suddenly hiding behind a trash can. "T-the puppy's too strong! I can't do it!"

DG: Rixia has contributed a Combat Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Suddenly Tronne Bonn!.
<Pose Tracker> Solitaire Collier has posed.

"Mmn." Solitaire tells Avril.

Maybe ... she just wanted to play the games? She does look pretty young.

She looks at Lanval. She doesn't comment either way to him but she ...sticks around anyway despite not saying anything or even inrtoducing herself really. She nods once to the big slurring man but honestly doesn't want to draw too much attention from a drunkard onto her because their breath tends to smell real bad and they have a hard time understanding 'no' sometimes and she doesn't like to raise her voice.

Solitaire's head jerks up at the shouting. Solitaire runs off at a suddenly swift gait, sliding between citizens of the crowd deftly and easily.
5rShe slows down as she nears and she looks up at the young woman with

Triangle Hair.

And...cowering lego men.

Solitaire looks at the energetic puppy.

"......." You can visibly see the tension fading from her expression as she considers this problem. What do excited dogs like to do?

She unshoulders her axe, readying it in front of her with both hands as she grimly looks down at the dog.

Soli...You can't mean to...

Solitaire nods slowly. "Mmn."

She gestures with her palm a bit before--showing off the axe (??) to the dog and then--

--she chucks Patience down the street. Luckily it's away from people.

"Fetch!" Solitaire says.

And then nods once more.

She will have to show this... Rixia...how it's done!

She turns her head and gives the fox lady a thumbsup.

urggh.... Vertigo...

DG: Solitaire Collier has used her Tool Demon Axe Nidhogg toward her party's challenge, Suddenly Tronne Bonn!. Rally!
<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

Soon, such trivial matters as right and wrong are set aside (by Avril, anyway) as they head into the fairgrounds proper. And what do they find almost immediately but trouble?

Without a word, Avril turns to dash in the direction of the shouting woman, coming to a stop as she reaches the scene and takes in the enormity of the scenario before her--

A woman (...familiar, at that?), up a lightpost. A trio of distant, familiar figures. And an exuberant puppy.

"...It's cute," Avril says, after a moment, gazing at the scene with a fond smile on her face. Is it possible the dog reminds her of someone...? She kneels, extending a hand towards the puppy. "Won't you please come here instead?"

(Is this... truly how the Ice Queen chooses to do terrible battle with a most fearsome foe?)

DG: Avril Vent Fleur has contributed a Combat Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Suddenly Tronne Bonn!.
<Pose Tracker> Lan Lilac has posed.

"I, uh... thank you!" Lan says quickly, because she doesn't like lying but she is totally fine with saying 'thank you' when something lucky happens to her.

And if that benefits Avril and a few other folks, well that's all the better isn't it? "Hi Rixia," she greets the younger girl with a little wave. Lan is very tall, and Rixia is very... not. "I'm Lan, from Little Firelight. I've been to the Silver Star, it's so pretty there! Welcome to Filgaia!"

Lan you have literally no way of knowing whether this is her first time here or not, stop assuming things.

The problem of the barking dog and the fleeing woman... "Huh, that's familiar," Lan frowns, but nothing concrete comes to her.

Is... is she going to have to kick a puppy?

Lan considers this, the most mortal of sins. "..."

No way! Look, she's got to have something...! She digs through her pack for a few seconds, coming up with a piece of jerky wrapped in waxed cloth. "Here doggy! See? Want some food?"

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

"Ha ha ha! Yep, that'sh me~" Lanval nods. He seems all jovial and relaxed (and, um, unsteady) compared to the forceful presence he put forth before the Fell Dragon. "'m glad yer okay. Shtill feelin' like yershelf...?"

     But anyway, puppy.

A game of fetch happens. That should be the end of that, until...

     The puppy returns.

     With the axe.

Literally dragging the blade of it against the ground, kicking up sparks like it's ready to do a DEATH METAL BATTLE TO THE BRUTAL DEATH AND ALSO METAL. It promptly releases the axe and looks up to Solitaire expectantly with a happy look.

"Is THAT supposed to make me feel better that you DISTRACTED it?" Cries the woman of notably triangular hair, as she points in fright at what the puppy - a mere puppy! - dragged back. "I, I..." She slides down.

"There's no lamp post TALL enough for me to hide from such a frightening beast!" Spoken with true teenage exaggeration hyperbole, she stomps off and unwittingly knocks over the trash can in which Rixia's hiding, as those strange little toy-like constructs look so relieved (while she berates them and continues off to new misadventures. The misadventures of... Dog Gone. Is that what it's called? No?)

The lot of them get to enjoy playtime with a puppy, nonetheless! The puppy enjoys lapped up water, Lan's treat, and sits expectantly before Avril to look up at her while awaiting whatever command she intends to give it.

"Aww. C'mon, look at 'em," Lanval says to Rixia, "they're jusht happy ta be here, they ain't that shcary," he says to Rixia. Indeed, the puppy will be playful and cute for as long as it takes for someone, anyone, to decide maybe it's time to play with the tokens before the guy at the front realizes he's been had.

<Pose Tracker> Lan Lilac has posed.

"I'm so glad that worked out," Lan remarks later, after everybody has gotten to pet, feed, instruct, or cower from the puppy. "I hope that girl's going to be okay..."

But they've still got a whole bag full of tokens! Lan passes them out evenly. "C'mon, let's go see what kind of games there are. I remember there was some kind of race, last time I was here."

The firs tthing they find is, in fact, not a race. It's a fishing game! Lan, who likes eating fish but isn't very practiced in catching them, is enthralled. "Hey, look! Let's do this one! Pleeeeeease?"

It's a simple enough game - everybody gets a toy fishing pole and a single minute on the clock. "The goal is to 'catch' as many fish as possible before the timer goes off," explains the catlike Beastwoman running the game booth. "The ones at the bottom are harder to catch, but worth more points. Or you can just try to catch as many of the ones floating on the surface as you can. It's simple risk-reward. Want to try it out?"

Lan is already handing over a token. "Huh, the angle's kind of weird, though," she muses, glancing at the woman as she sets the timer. "But..."

She 'hup's softly, kicking off the ground... to float directly above the tank. "This is way better!" she declares, lowering her line into the water.

The Beastwoman stares. "I'm... not sure that's in the spirit of the game..."

<Pose Tracker> Rixia has posed.

Rixia gawks at Solitaire toss her axe to play fetch with the dog, though Avril taking confidence with the lead relieves her a little!

"A-ahaha... I mean, I feel welcomed. I wish I didn't basically risk a concussion every time I come here, though. Do you have any teleporter tips?" Rixia natters quietly to Lan on the side.

Lanval asks if she still feels like herself. "... I dunno how to answer that question some days, but it feels like you all protected me from the worst from that, um, stuff. The... Malevolence."

Tron stomps off, however, and the trash can she's hiding topples over! Aaaaaaagh! She tumbles to one side and nearly avoids being crushed.

"H-huh... I don't get it... dogs are just... too menacing! There's a natural order to these things, you know..." Rixia remarks.

Fortunately, the next event is a fishing game. Lan asks if they can do them, and Rixia nods and... "Look, I'm an old hand at fishing! I used to have to do frozen river fishing back home!"

She takes a rod in hand and-- pauses as she stares at the pool.

"Wait, this isn't real fish...! Somehow, the thrill of the hunt is gone... mostly because there's no dinner waiting for me now..........." Whatever, she casts! Because Big the Cat is watching her.

DG: Rixia has contributed a Agility Basic Action toward her party's challenge, The Inevitable Fishing Minigame.
<Pose Tracker> Solitaire Collier has posed.

Solitaire plays with a puppy. This mostly involves Solitaire, her expression still very serious mind, petting the puppy under the chin. Nidhogg, meanwhile--

--is covered in dog slobber. It also feels a bit sick and vomits out black goop while it's recovering.

"No," Solitaire tells the puppy. "Don't eat that."

The black mess eventually dissipitates into the ground, leaving a faintly scorched pavement but otherwise unharmed.

Solitaire picks up the axe, casually flicks off the spittle, and slings it over the shoulder. She looks at the puppy for a long moment.

"Are you lonely?" Solitaire asks the puppy with a dead-eyed stare. "You can travel with me if you'd like."

She then turns and starts walking onward to the next challenge.

"Natural...order...?"

But then--a fishing minigame! Solitaire is also a bit dissapointed it's not real fish.

She looks at the catwoman as she explains the game. Despite being a mousegirl, catwomen don't particularly bother her despite the cartoon logic that might come into play. She listens carefully and then says, "Mmnnn..."

Yeah, that's the dull-eyed expression of someone who kinda lost interest in the game upon realizing it's not face.

NEVERTHELESS...

She will play. But if she DOES win her ultimate weapon, she is going to refuse it.

Nidhogg is the only ultimate weapon for her.

"Fish later." Solitaire suggests to Patience.

DG: Solitaire Collier has contributed a Agility Basic Action toward her party's challenge, The Inevitable Fishing
Minigame.
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

Lanval nods along at Rixia's thought about being protected from 'the worst.' As a Seraph he's probably got a skewed view on it since that stuff is the one big thing that keeps the Seraphim honest and in check. "Well... if ya ever feel like there'sh shomethin' gnawin', lemme know. I'll call a Seer of Water ta help ya outta that."

Anyway, moving on! Fishing! Lanval can't be seen, so he can't participate, so he just sits down on the opposite side of the fake fishing hole. Now with real water! (wait, what?)

He doesn't really need to do anything to help, but he is enjoying a quick bit of bubbling. With a 'smoking' pipe. It releases bubbles! At one point he dips the tip of it into the water which will cause bubbles to push things up. This is probably not intentional. Probably.

One eye does open half-lidded as he looks to the young Beastfolk with the quiet words and scarred neck, and that look in her eyes.

"Mmm. Hey." He's not addressing the elephant in the room. Or the serpent in the room. Or the axe-shaped remnant of the serpent in the room, really. "Ya shtrike me ash... shomeone who ain't been havin' a great day fer a long, long time."

As he's sitting on the opposite side of the 'fishing' hole, he's not too close. "What'sh on yer mind?"

DG: Seraph Lanval has used his Tool Bubble Pipe toward his party's challenge, The Inevitable Fishing Minigame. Rally!
<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

"What a good boy you are," Avril soon praises the puppy, seemingly unaware of the rest of the world around her when in Puppy Proximity. "Now, sit," she commands, every in the queen. "Shake." She somberly extends a hand towards the puppy.

Eventually, though, they must move on; even the cutest puppy cannot occupy them their entire time here. They haven't even tried any of the games!

"A race? Hmm... do I recall there being a race," Avril murmurs, furrowing her brow as she tries to remember. "I should like to see one. Was a footrace? Dean has spoken of a 'three-legged race' to me before. I would like to see that for myself."

But they don't find a race. Rather instead, they find a fishing hole. "So the object is to 'pretend one is fishing'," Avril remarks, surveying the game as it is presented before them. "It is lacking such concerns as bait so I do see the appeal. However... I believe that Lan has a good idea. These wave-shaped barriers in the front do make it hard to see the fish."

This may in fact be the point, as the game has been designed, but no one tell Avril that just yet.

    "Lucadia!"

Is it cheating to use the power of the Guardians to jump over the pen to better get a view of the angle at which the fish at the bottom rest?

"Rixia, I recommend attempting to your right, close to the wall. Please, trust me," Avril says, once she has landed.

[OOC] Solitaire Collier says, "*bluray upon realizing it's not fish"
<Pose Tracker> Lan Lilac has posed.

The woman running the fishing game sees just what everybody is bringing to the table in terms of strategy, considers her options, and decides that not raising her own blood pressure is worth far more than the amount of tickets she's inevitably going to have to fork over. It's not worth her health to intervene.

This happens every time Drifters come to the fair!

Lan and Avril have the best vantage point(s), one doing the fishing herself and the other commanding a very small army of fisherwoman.

Lanval's affinity with water comes in handy, as the fish seem almost drawn to their toy hooks. Rixis may not have dinner to look forward to, but prize tickets can buy an awful lot of candy, and that's almost as good.

It's just as well that there's no ultimate weapon waiting in the fish tank, as such a thing would be useless to Solitaire. Why abandon a friend for a shiny new one, just because their stats are better?

Lan somehow manages to fish and chatter at the same time; maybe it's just her natural state. "...and anyway that's my best list of handy teleporter tips!" she eventually finishes, coming back down to earth.

"Great job," the Beastwoman (her name is Clara) deadpans. "You all win. Here are some prize tickets."

<Pose Tracker> Solitaire Collier has posed.

Solitaire says, "Thank you." to Clara the Beastwoman. She takes the tickets, looking at the empty space where a puppy used to be. "..."

Lanval speaks to her. Oh no, the drunk is talking to her and...Solitaire starts to grimace but--

--it actually doesn't seem like he's doing something that would really bug her? She rubs at that scar on her neck as Lanval's gaze turns to it.

Solitaire isn't one to share backstory easily. She doesn't have a strong need to be understood. It isn't a secret exactly, but it is difficult to figure out a way to talk about herself that doesn't feel like it's...

Fishing...

For something. Even when it's Lanval who's fishing.

"The festival is fun, can't you tell?" Solitaire tells Lanval despite the fact that her gaze doesn't turn off of serious and stern at all. "But..."

She trails off. Why is she telling this all to some jovial drunk guy? Better than an angry drunk, she supposes, but--

"...Many are not lucky and cannot celebrate. I could have been one of them."

That seems to be the best way she an put it comfortably. As the group moves on, Solitaire stops, eyes narrowing as she sees some Guild Galad equipment.

"Are you REEEAAADY to SHUT UP...AND DAAAANCE?" A guy that kinda looks like Present Mic shouts.

And almost as quickly, a flash mob of dancers just starts going at it in the center of the courtyard. Solitaire lets go of Patience who kinda hovers behind her like a party member as she crouches down, pulls out some near new sneakers out of her bag and straps them onto her feet. Once she finishes tying them she steps out into the dance floor and, completely stonefaced, proceeds to spin on her heel and perform incredibly elaborate dance moves that require both flexibility and balance which she seems to have in spades. At one point she almost manages to touch her foot to the back of her head, another time she is lifting the whole of her body up with one hand. At one point she even uses Patience as a kind of dance partner, balancing on the head of the axe before artistically falling off and cartwheeling into a standing position.

Her expression is deadly serious the whole time and--as Lanval has noticed--it doesn't look like she's exactly enjoying herself--or she's just very good at masking her expression.

Or she just is naturally like this.

<Pose Tracker> Rixia has posed.

It's the cartoon logic that's the natural order, Solitaire, Rixia thinks. Catgirls, however, are perfectly okay, because she's currently crushing on another who isn't present at the moment. Still, she relates to how it's not real fish, even if Avril is guiding her--

"Right! Okay!" fish fish fish. Rixia looks up to Lanval and scratches her cheek. "Gosh, I feel like I've been blessed by multiple Gods and Goddesses now... heheh..." ... she might have the impression Lanval is a God of Water.

Lan gives teleporter tips. "Hmm... I don't quite get it, but I'll try it next time. I'm also gonna invest in a good helmet, because it keeps sending me out sideways at high speed."

Solitaire says many aren't lucky and can't celebrate. "I hear you! Sagahli's too poor to host a single village celebration, and up until recently, all my money's been going to food."

They move on, though, and... there's an opportunity to dance.

Damn, Solitaire's bustin' a move! And a groove, too.

"C'mon, we can't lose!" Rixia is suddenly talking to her gunblade after seeing Solitaire combo with her weapon, which has manifested into her hand in a shower of datacubes.

<Pose Tracker> Lan Lilac has posed.

"She's right," Lan nods, like it's any of her business. But there are people who can't celebrate, and there are those who have nothing to celebrate.

The flash mob comes out of nowhere. Lan certainly wasn't expecting them! "Hey, what--?"

Oh, it's a dance-off?? Lan grins. She's been training her body since she was a child, and her sense of rhythm is just fine!

And more important than either of those things... is the fact that while she's certainly not what anybody would consider polished or polite, Lan actually just likes to dance. It's fun!

She's laughing when she goes up onto her toes, arms spread wide, and starts to spin~

<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

Lanval listens as Solitaire shares what she can. She brings up about how many are not lucky and cannot celebrate - how she could have been one of them.

"Mmm." He ponders that as the fishing prizes are collected. If it's something that makes people here happy, his native Seraphic Domain enhances those small joys. He staggers along in that silly, flippant way where the idea of 'locomotion' were something he had five hundred years to understand the ins and outs of but has decided that he likes his way better.

     His way is weird.

Then... there's a guy calling for dancing. Lots and lots of dancing, everyone, everywhere.

He's one of the last ones to visibly join, with a more muted smile on his face.

"Washn't that long ago fer me... fer a lotta people," he speaks up, "that people weren't able ta celebrate life and livin' freely."

Althena's decree against song, dance, and (later as a rule, one that might have had - shall we say - a unique delay in decreeing such) alcohol is well known among those who have been to the Silver Star, and the moment there's an opening... not that there isn't one, he's a Seraph, he phases through literally everyone here.

He hurls himself onto the dance floor and just has at it. He's surprisingly limber for his portly appearance, and does not seem all that concerned about rhythm or what have you. He just moves. At one point he spins and whirls right on his head before kicking up and flipping to an upright stand.

"...sho I enjoy the little shtuff like thish, too~"

DG: Seraph Lanval has contributed a Agility Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Dance Like You Want To Win.
<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

Perhaps it is best that this remains Management's Problem, as far as poor Clara is concerned.

As for the motley crew this lot is, they have walked away with a good lot of tickets! "I cannot help but feel that something was odd," Avril remarks, glancing back at the fishing booth as she walks away--

Or where it had been, since 'here' is now full of an awful lot of other people. It's a... dance-off?

"So I am to understand that we are to dance? Any dance should suffice?"

Avril still has the Medium in hand, which has begun to glow.

"...I see," she says, regarding all the other swaying dancers about her. "Then... I shall dance."

With the Medium enhancing her movements (is it just a trick of the light or are there actual little sprays of seawater following each twirl, Avril begins to dance a dance that has not been seen in... oh, five thousand years, give or take a few.
It looks almost formal, as if it were better suited for a ballroom than a flash mob out here in a fairground.

<Pose Tracker> Solitaire Collier has posed.

Solitaire looks to Lan as she butts into the conversation. She nods once to her. "Thank you." She says, which might be a strange thing to say but Solitaire's demeanor doesn't crack in the slightest. Not now, not while she's dancing either.

Most people can't see Lanval tearing up the dance floor which is a shame because he definitely knows what he's doing and if you think Solitaire being a great dancer is something to behold, a guy with Lanval's build? It kind of just makes it seem all the more incredible.

Most people can't see it, unfortunately...

But his dancing still kind of just ... through methods unknown ... enhanes the whole dancing experience. The excitement seems to rise as Lanval dances along.

....

.....

Except for Solitaire who is still stonefaced through it all, though she does give a nod to Lanval.

"Respect." She says.

Avril's dancing is pretty splendid too, if maybe ill suiting for the occassion. Lan's energy makes up for SOlitaire's stern expression and further rises the EXCITEMENT METER. One of hte most important things about dancing is to have fun doing it!

And though Rixia doesn't get any luck with her weapon, Solitaire eventually rests a a hand on Rixia's shoulders.

"I am sure," She says. "Their true potential is just waiting for you to unlock it."

She has some EMPATHY due to also having a talking weapon who sometimes sasses her!

SOCIAL LINK UP! And isn't that the real victory?

"It looks like we have some new DANCE COMMANDERS!" Present Mic shouts. "Lets give 'em some more tickets!"

"Are you...having fun?" Solitaire asks Rixia. She's still not smiling.

<Pose Tracker> Lan Lilac has posed.

You can always count on dancing to work up a thirst. Perhaps the operator of the drinking game and the dance-off are in cahoots!!

If they aren't, they're really missing out on a golden opportunity here.

"Say, you folks look thirsty," says the drinking game operator in question. He's a man with a waxed moustache, wearing suspenders, and looks like he has a lot of opinions about microbrews. But this is a drinking contest, which means they're going to use the cheap stuff. "How about this? We need another team to compete in our drinking contest. Whichever team puts away the most mugs of beer wins the grand prize!"

"What's the grand prize, anyway?" Lan asks. She is already reaching for a mug of very light, watery beer. The moustached man slides it just out of her reach, tsk-ing.

"It's one hundred tickets each for the winners, and ten tickets each for the losers! So even if you can't hold your beer, you still get a consolation prize."

Lan, who is just thirsty and also regrettably sober, reeeeeeeeeaches for the mug. "Sure, sure, we'll go for it, just let me--!"

Everybody, drink like you don't want to remember you were ever here!

DG: Lan Lilac has contributed a Brute Basic Action toward her party's challenge, Lightweights Need Not Apply.
<Pose Tracker> Rixia has posed.

Lan and Lanval both let rip in their own ways, which... darn! They're so good. Avril's Medium-empowered dance is also something to behold, since she's very pretty anyway. "... haah ... I'm gonna bust a move someday, anyday..."

She glumly looks to Solitaire to say, "Hope so. Kinda think this thing thinks I'm in the way sometimes..."

Is she having fun? "Hmm... honestly, yeah, I mean, I'm just having a fun time right now instead of trying to figure out how to find my next meal, so." A pause. "Speaking of, that'd be good..."

But eventually there's... a drinking contest!

Rixia's eyes light up. "Okay, this I can do!" A pause, as she stares at the beer. "Or maybe... um, hmm, this doesn't look... it looks cheap and nasty, actually... some real rotgut."

The gunblade whirrs unseen at this moment.

    MEANWHILE

"You can do it, Yue," a very cute girl in an environmental suit with =) for a face over her black visor chimes, dressed like a black mage with a hat ontop.

Yue groans and says, "Okay, okay, I'll do Acacia and Marina a favour... ... hmmm?"

Yue takes one look at Avril across on the other table.

"FOLKS I can't believe what I'm seeing RIGHT NOW," the announcer hollers. "That long-haired lady is drinking these beers down like she just WANTS TO FORGET! Is this contest over and decided already?!"

DG: Yue Rohay risks a Drinking Master Action toward her party's challenge, Lightweights Need Not Apply.
DG: Rixia has used her Tool UP3 Violating Executable toward her party's challenge, Lightweights Need Not Apply.
Stalwart! Party shielded from some Exhaustion this round!
<Pose Tracker> Avril Vent Fleur has posed.

"That was quite invigorating," Avril says, when the dance contest is over and done with. "Still... I do wish that Rebecca had been here. It would have been more enjoyable to dance with another, rather than alone." She pauses for a moment, a look coming over her face as if she had walked over her own grave (or something along those lines). Almost-- she had almost remembered something important.

Something about... two together. Something about not being alone.

But she rouses from that brief reverie and, briefly, shakes her head; there is no sense getting bogged down in the details of it, perhaps.

"Is that man advertising a game?"

Has Avril... had beer before? She certainly doesn't look the type, but who knows, given Filgaia (and Ignas in general)?

She seems game enough for it, at any rate, picking up one of the mugs, lifting it to her lips and... pausing.
Her nose wrinkles. Not a beer drinker, then?

She sets down the mug. Giving up already, Avril?

And then she pulls out the red button. AVRIL NO--

    There is rumbling.

...A small Golem's head erupts from the ground with a tiny pop. Avril dutifully pours her beer into the Golem's open mouth. Is this... covered by the rules at all?

DG: Avril Vent Fleur has used her Tool Remote Golem Override toward her party's challenge, Lightweights Need Not Apply.
Strengthen! Party Brute boosted! Liability! Failure will result in extra Exhaustion!
<Pose Tracker> Seraph Lanval has posed.

"Cheersh~" Lanval offers back, as he reclines and has himself a bit of the taste of the water of Filgaia from his ever-heavy drinking gourd as he watches Avril's elegant dance, and then...

Drinking contest. There is Seraph Lanval right here, right there, his presence alone should guarantee unconditional victory because... you can smell it off him.

"All right." Lanval stretches himself. He rocks back and forth on his feet, puts on the biggest, dopiest smile he can, and...

"'ll do my part!" He pumps up a fist. "'ll drink every drop ya all let hit the ground...!"

He sits down on the ground expectantly and opens up his mouth.

A golem appears nearby and opens up their mouth.

Lanval opens up an eye and peers at the golem. "Hey. Rude."

DG: Seraph Lanval has contributed a Brute Basic Action toward his party's challenge, Lightweights Need Not Apply.
<Pose Tracker> Solitaire Collier has posed.

Solitaire looks like the kind of person who would do a lot of drinking if she was a bit older. Despite definitely not being 21 and probably not even being 16, Solitaire sits herself down at the table because this is a MEDIEVAL TOWN and that means NO DRINKING AGE. But is Solitaire a drinker? Is she the kind of person who is going to get shitfaced drunk on cheep beer?

No.

But Solitaire--

--wait, she is putting Patience on the stool, kinda propping them up. Black fumes drift out of Nidhogg's jaws expectantly.

Solitaire says, "Mm."

She reaches into her pack and draws out a deck of cards, setting them out on the table like coasters.

And when the mugs of beer are set on the card--

KABLOOM!!

the cards detonate, sending beer launching out of the air and into Nidhogg's maw like it was spinach in a Popeye cartoon.

"GRRROOAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!!" Nidhogg roars as beer continuously flows into his endless consuming maw.

More beer goes flying into Nidhogg's 'mouth'. Now this, this is definitely cartoon physics.

Solitaire doesn't get a hcance to reassure Rixia further but she has some empathy. She too wants to lead the way with her weapon, not be led around by her weapon. Even if she is rather fond of him.

She mulls on this while she can. Her eyes slant over towards the girl in an enviromental suit.

"...."

She stares.

A moment too long.

...You want to play around with the kid huh?

Solitaire nods seriously.

Don't think I've ever seen you have this much fun before. Everyone can see how excited you are.

"Mm." Solitaire nods again.

You want to be friends with the other girl too right?

Solitaire nods again.

Too bad we didn't run into any Veruni like we hoped though.

"Mm."

The good thing is, it's light beer! The bad thing is... is...

Oh right, there's so much of it. Maybe there's even enough to let Yue drink her problems away!

Between all four... er, five... how many personages are in this party, anyway??? Anyway, between all of them, they're the winners. It turns out you can fit a lot of beer in a golem and a sentient(?) axe.

Lanval is finally blessed with a drink when Lan temporarily passes out, spilling her mug of beer onto the ground. "mmmbluhhh...."

Some time later, they take their hard-won tickets to the prize counter. This is it, they've worked (and cheated) so hard. What kind of reward will they be able to get?!

"Congratulations," the prize vendor says, after counting their tickets. (It's a formality at best, he saw them compete in the drinking contest.) "Our prize of the day, for the 400-ticket grand prize, is...! This magnificent magical sword of power!"

Everybody gets their own toy sword! "Woohooooo!" Lan howls, waving hers around drunkenly. She is hanging rather heavily off of Avril's shoulder. "Check it ouuuuuuuut, it's all glowyyyyyy--"

<Pose Tracker> Solitaire Collier has posed.

LATER...

Solitaire finally leaves the festival, toy lightsaber in her hands. Patience has been returned to hanging off her back. For an actual weapon, swinging one that isn't Patience would feel like cheating but...

She turns the light saber on. She swings it around.

"Heehee o/~" Solitaire swings it to side around a bit before finally turning it off.
