|Hyuga met this Solarian in the guise of a surfac dweller in Hilton. Reasonably certain that this wayward Gebler soldier has a purpose in sniffing around the area where Fei is, curiosity has prompted Hyuga to do a little digging of his own and determine what this man's motivations are, both professional and personal. Convinced the man is a third-class citizen like himself, Hyuga is curious as to how he reconciles the disconnect between being a third-class citizen and fighting for a recognition and standard of living that he will never be able to enjoy. Curiosity has compelled him to study a great deal more of Kahm – and at the same time, determine whether Kahm's own investigation is a threat to Hyuga's mission.

A simple country doctor, Citan – along with his wife Yui, and their daughter Midori – has served in Lahan for the past several years working to care for its citizens, most notably the amnesiac young man known as Fei Fong Wong. Following the razing of Lahan, he set out to keep an eye on Fei, assisting him during his travels by employing the considerable skills of this simple country doctor. Skills such as Gear piloting. Expertise in virtually every known martial art. Intelligence gathering. Mechanical engineering. Psychological manipulation. And an in-depth knowledge of much of the current events of the world. However, he is a completely trustworthy, simple country doctor with no ulterior motives. Really.

Background

Citan Uzuki was born Hyuga Ricdeau, the youngest of eight siblings in the slave blocks of Soalris' capital city, Etrenank. A quiet and withdrawn child, he learned from his grandfather Solarian Blade Arts, and from his boisterous siblings he learned how to marshall his patience in the face of a great deal of frustration.

Life wasn't wonderful, but it also wasn't terrible, and even early on he decided that he would face life as a slave with dignity and grace. It would be what he would make of it.

Then came the plague.

At thirteen, Hyuga lost his eight brothers, his mother, his father, and his grandfather in a single stroke. It ran wild through the slave block, devastating Third Class citizenry indiscriminately. Left alone, he worked feverishly to answer the question of where the plague came from, how it had spread so quickly, and most importantly, how to stop it.

Gifted in a great many scientific fields, he did eventually answer those questions. His victory brought him some closure, and just as importantly, his accomplishments elevated him to Jugend Academy. He met with challenges, as a Third Class citizen, but he overcame them with cunning and dignity.

At twenty, he was awarded the highest honour, given the title of "Guardian Angel" and a post answering directly to Emperor Cain. Two years later, he was given command of the Third Invasion of Shevat. He accepted his post in stride; he would make of it the best he could, as he had done with every other crisis dropped into his lap through the years.

Then came Yui Uzuki, famed premiere warrior of Shevat, who both captured his heart, and also put a few holes in it. The two became fast friends, eventually falling for one another. While he spent time recovering and remembering how to function like a normal human being without a sword in his intestines, Hyuga accepted orders directly from Cain to keep an eye on Shevat and stand by. In the interim, he married Yui, put up his sword, learned Shevat Open-Handed Arts and Clear Mirror, Still Water from Gaspar, and probably designed a few more needless inventions that accomplished what they were supposed to do with a minimum of explosions. Mostly. Two years later Yui bore a daughter, whom they named Midori.

Then came the Contact. Cain ordered Hyuga to the surface to Lahan Village, where he was to keep an eye on a curious young man without any memories – serving as a Simple Country Doctor, a task to which he took, with all his eclectic knowledge, like a fish to water. He adopted the false name Citan Uzuki, taking his wife's surname, and the three settled down atop the highest mountain a mile outside the village and... well. Nobody said he was a particularly compassionate doctor.

Then came the destruction of Lahan Village. After chucking Fei Fong Wong into a Gear and summarily following the young man to the plucky sand pirates aboard the Yggdrasil, Citan reunited with an old friend, quietly bore the stupidity of youth with admirable stoicism, and continues to attend the ragtag sand pirates as they get themselves into trouble one crisis after another.

Eventually Cain's going to have further orders for him, and until he does, Hyuga Ricdeau stands ready, as Citan Uzuki follows Fei Fong Wong around with good-natured patience. And maybe a few incongruent skills. Plus mastery over a handful of martial arts.

He's just a simple country doctor.

Really.

Powers and Abilities

This section is still under construction.

  • Master of Improvisation: Given that he's living a double life in order to keep tabs on Fei, Hyuga is a master of deception. He has the ability to think on his feet and adhere to a fabricated role, no matter what his personal feelings might be. It's shockingly difficult to throw him off-track or to rattle his air of unperturbed calm.
  • Tinker Tailor Doctor Spy: Citan is a man whose training far outstrips his station in life. Although no more than a mild-mannered simple country doctor on the surface, he is shockingly knowledgeable in a great many realms of scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry; even engineering and physics. What's unsettling is not that he knows of these topics, but the sheer depth of knowledge he possesses. How he came by this much information is a mystery, and he's not volunteering any details. (If there is something Citan has cause to know about your character, I will try to ask first before assuming. If you feel there are suspicious secrets Citan should know about your character, feel free to send me @mail!)
  • Techniques: As part of his simple country doctor training, Citan learned the use of Solarian Blade Arts, excelling in the use of this brutal, powerful technique and its killing intent. From Gaspar Uzuki, he became proficient in the style of Clear Mirror, Still Water. From Yui Uzuki, he learned Shevat Open-Handed Arts, which he wields with as much mastery and finesse as his wife, although he still graciously concedes that Gaspar can snap him in half with a hand tied behind his back.

Image Name The Story So Far
Placeholder.png Fei Fong Wong This lost young man is suspected by Emperor Cain of being the Contact. As a deep-cover operative, Hyuga has been covertly ordered to watch over Fei and report his observations back to Emperor Cain directly. Fei is the real reason why Hyuga has descended to the surface world, and why this simple country doctor even exists – "Citan Uzuki" is no more than a persona fabricated to integrate more readily with the surface dwellers and interact with Fei without arousing suspicion. Although some might feel unconditional sympathy for Fei's existence, Citan is dispassionate within the scope of his mission parameters. The good doctor's warmth is not wholly genuine; Hyuga stands ready to carry out further orders from on high, whatever they may be.
Gwenface.jpeg Gwen Whitlock This happy-go-lucky courier is the one Hyuga relies on to deliver medical supplies. Fearless of remote areas and seemingly able to find the most remote areas, Hyuga can respect both her skill as a courier and her dedication to her own professionality. Although he considers her attitude borderline naive, it's nice to see some people can be so cheerful in such a depressing world, and it's a little contaigous. He finds himself just a little less fatalistic around her relentless good cheer. He's also one of the few people who knows about her ARM, being one of the few Gwen trusts to perform regular maintenance on it for her. And being such a savvy country doctor, one of the few people she can trust to guard her secrets safely.
Kahm.jpg "Marcus Rider" Hyuga met this Solarian in the guise of a surface dweller in Hilton.
File:Lanlilac2.png Lan Lilac A Baskar shaman whom Citan met on the road, who needed medical attention. Fortunately, she just so happened to bumble into the vicinity of a simple country doctor, who was only too happy to ply his trade and put her back together again. She's one to keep an eye on; Hyuga is not inclined to trust anything to fate, and she probably has something to hide. Right?
Placeholder.png Yui Uzuki Soldier, field agent, and simple country doctor wife; Yui is a woman of many talents, and widely regarded as a singularly talented practitioner of the Clear Mirror, Still Water technique. Although she may seem meek and soft-spoken, her quiet nature hides a keen intelligence and a shockingly resilient, strong-willed spirit. Despite their differences and the war that lies between them, Hyuga still loves her dearly, and considers her one of the few people who can effortlessly keep up with his own intellect. Although she is ostensibly retired, he acknowledges and even accepts the possibility that she isn't, since his work operates more outside the bounds of Solarian policy.
