"And above all, make sure you have a great rival. It's the best way to reach the top of your game!"

An avid student of Pokemon behavior, Anne might seem a strange fit at first for Team Rocket. Her references are impeccable, being an assistant to Professor Maple of Fuchsia City in her youth. Her own pokemon journey was one of research, though she did accumulate a number of Badges along the way, and one of her rivals back then would go on to take the Challenge himself. Decades later, as her own children grow old enough to go on journeys themselves, she's gotten back into the research game--but for Team Rocket. Recruited by her old friend Giovanni, Anne is a deceptively disciplined Trainer. She doesn't advertise her family's traditions, but her ninja skills serve her well as an independent operator. She has advice and assistance ready for her fellow Rockets, particularly the younger set. She doesn't stand for shoddy work, though. A good bit of gambling, on the other hand...

Background

As a girl, Anne Aomori went on a Pokemon journey of her own, gathering research data for Professor Maple of Fuchsia City. She went around Energy Nede with her Cyndaquil Laqui for her adventure, meeting friends and rivals alike. These would include Giovanni, eventual leader of Team Rocket, but also one Linden Stacey, her main rival who would go on to become a Champion himself.

When she was older, studying at Princebridge University, she had her first child with Linden, though they never married. It didn't stop her finishing her degree or engaging in a career of research under Professor Maple, becoming an important figure in the field of Pokemon behavior.

Her second child came during this period, this time with a fellow researcher named Edgar Chiba. But also a number of other decisions came from this period; she concluded that despite their discoveries all the time, nothing seemed to /change/ in Nede. She was to become Professor Maple's successor; in light of this realization, she declined, and their relationship never really recovered.

In secret, spurred on by these feelings, she would make some rather revolutionary decisions. In particular, invited by her old friend Giovanni, she joined Team Rocket and lent her expertise to them in the field of Pokemon bonding and trading. Her involvement would be secret for some time.

She ended up with a bit of wanderlust once her children left the nest, though. Her lab in Viridian City sees a lot of work, but she wanted to get out in the field again--and the appearance of the Ten Wise Men and the visitors from Filgaia and Lunar would provide the perfect opportunity.

This will be her chance to change Nede for good.

Skills, Powers and Abilities

Anne is highly knowledgeable about Pokemon and Pokemon behavior, having done research in the field for many years. She has firsthand experience with a variety of different creatures and has read of many more. She knows research methods and library approaches. She also has a knack for predicting relationships between Pokemon and people, and has handed out many a starter Pokemon in her day to starry-eyed youths.

Anne is also a highly adept Pokemon Trainer. While she never completed the Pokemon League Challenge and never faced the Elite Four, she /did/ accumulate a number of Badges, including one from the now-closed Armlock Gym. At this point she can get most Pokemon to listen to her, though most of her old partners are no longer in fighting shape. Only three of her original team are active with her today. She has, however, started training up others again, in preparation for bigger moves in the world.

Secretly, Anne is also inheritor to the hidden ninja arts of the Aomori family. Those who are familiar with the ninja clans of Fuchsia would recognize her as a member of the family and an adept in their arts, but most are unaware of why she's so good at seemingly appearing out of nowhere. She is skilled in sneaking, scouting, acrobatics, athletics, poison and combat, and is one of the few on Nede who are still adept in the killing arts. Most of her skills are still nonlethal though, focusing on information gathering and neutralization of obstacles rather than assassination.

Finally, as are most Nedians, Anne is a natural with Symbology. She has a number of spells, both inborn and genetically unlocked over time. Her repertoire is primarily restorative. A very strong healer, Anne also has a few spells for combat support and threat reduction, licensed for such Symbology as a researcher dealing with potentially dangerous Pokemon.

She's /also/ really good at poker, blackjack, and other grown-up games.

Relationships

Name Image Type(s) Info
Whit Aomori Whit 1.png Grass Anne's son, and her oldest child. Whit works in magazines! As a writer he is tired of the same old travelogues that vary only by this event or that event going on in the familiar cities of Nede. He wants to get out and explore new places! With a strong moral compass, he takes after his father, a Champion-ranked trainer who had his own journey many years ago. He's also learned the secret arts of his mother, though he doesn't seem to have the temperament of a ninja. His partner is an Ivysaur! He does not know what his mother is up to as a Rocket, and would not approve.
Sable Aomori Sable 1.png Water Anne's daughter, her current youngest child. Quiet and intense, Sable and her partner Piplup are currently on a journey across Nede to challenge the Pokemon League. Her unusual moral compass is more about strength and potential than kindness and cruelty. She'd rather judge according to how well someone is achieving their goals than for the content of those goals, and has no patience for a lack of ambition. This perspective might make more sense with the context that she is inheritor to her family's ninja arts, and that her mother is the Rocket researcher Anne Aomori. She is not so cold as it might imply though, and has a number of friends across Nede.
Linden Stacey Linden Picrew 2.png Rock Whit's father. Linden Stacey is a professor in good standing at Princebridge University and an affiliate of the Pokemon League. He was a Champion-ranked trainer in his youth, and never gave up that drive or spirit. While his studies and his students are his main focus, he still helps the League with various troubles when he can, and maintains a potent team of Pokemon. Intense and sometimes inscrutable, Linden focuses his studies on Lost Johto. His personal life has never had the same luck as his professional life, though. He's had an on-again, off-again relationship with Anne Aomori that's lasted across two marriages, and rarely gets back to his hometown of Fuchsia City. This in and of itself isn't a big problem, but the fact that Anne is a member of Team Rocket will be one eventually. His original partner is now a Meganium.
Edgar Chiba Edgar Picrew 1.png Fire Sable's father. A researcher into Pokemon habitats, Edgar Chiba comes from Cinnabar Island. He's friendly and personable, and while he isn't always particularly reliable he's charming enough that it doesn't slow him down much. He did a lot of work with Professor Maple before she retired, and has had close affiliations with Anne Aomori--and a daughter with her. While they never married, he's kept the flame alive and continues to pursue her on and off again. He cares mostly for his research, his personal friends, and his family; he doesn't really see much point in worrying about much bigger than that. This is sometimes a point of contention with Anne, but she's mulling over his advances anyway. Currently on an extended study in Armlock. His original partner is now a Braixen.
Name Type(s) Info
Magilou Fairy_Dark A mysterious witch, and the first of the Visitors that Anne met, along with Bienfu. Correctly identified Anne as a terrible villain, for which Anne gave her a Sprigatito.
Jessie Poison Spirited daughter of a good friend. She does her best.
James Poison He should definitely start lifting. But he also probably does his best.
Meowth Normal Meowth get off the table.
Hannah Curie Fairy An interesting girl who is quite taciturn about her sorcery, and has a probably healthy amount of caution.
Ida Everstead-Rey Dragon An academic from 'Filgaia', as well as a martial artist. Interesting, but there's something odd about her... Regardless, she's pleasant for now but will definitely be a problem later. Her ability to purify Malevolence seems to come with a serious case of morality.
Damian Tamaoka Psychic Anne is still working on Damian's self-esteem and his comfort in Team Rocket. And maybe, now, some of his deeper issues. At his request, she calls him 'Mia'. She's hoping to show him some of the more fun sides of crime.
Seraph Lanval Water A Seraph of Water, and apparently an Oracle too. Has seen a lot in his time, and he's stronger than he lets on. In general Lanval is much more than he seems. She'd still drink with him, though.
Arisugawa Joy Steel A girl who wants to earn her own future. Team Rocket may or may not be the place for her, but so long as it's where she chooses to be, Anne will support that.
Ruth Pauling Dark Strange, strange woman--possessed of unusual dark power but an apparent benevolent streak, judging by her 'friends' including Kricketot. Something about her makes Anne feel aggressive, and she's extended a helping hand more to keep an eye on her than because she feels fond of her. Having spoken with her again with knowledge of Malevolence, Anne likes her less--but sees a place for her anyway. Anne doesn't have to be thrilled about it.
Citan Uzuki Water A fascinating man who clearly knows more than he's letting on. Anne hopes to be able to work with him to discover the truth of the Paradox Pokemon.
Shige Kiwako Ghost Anne has a soft spot for people who get in trouble over their vices. Shige definitely seems one of those. She also may be able to help Damian...
