Background

Matilda has a degree in compounding from the Academy of Linga and a neat ARM! She also has a possible food intolerance to non-oleracea brassicas.

If you want more than that, ask her!

Powers and Abilities

Matilda is a compounder!

Ignore the ARM.

Relationships

Artemis Leaf

A strong curative of toxins even in its uncompounded state, the artemis leaf is reliable and valuable.

  • Kaguya: "We're in this together -- until the end."
  • Rose: "It's nice to have someone with the business sense to handle -- the... business."
  • Dean Stark: "I wish you'd asked, about the scarf, but... you really are very sweet."

Lavender

Reliable, commonly available, and uncomplicated. ... And I'm always running out, somehow...

  • Ida Everstead-Rey: "I think perhaps we are not terribly un-alike! We seem to have similar stories, though she's much more... outgoing than I am. I hope to get to know her better!"
  • Jacqueline Barber: "Her resolve is impressive. There's something she has that I simply... don't."
  • Claude C. Kenny: "Ah... I think we'll be great friends if I never have to hear that wretched instrument again."
  • Rena Lanford: "Thank you so much... if you hadn't been there, things could have been much worse."
  • Sephilia Lampbright: "It's true. I have brought book words into our fun adventures."
  • Mariel: "Thank you very much for your assistance!"
  • Alisha Diphda: "I have so much to teach you!"
  • Avril Vent Fleur: "What a terribly strange woman... but I'm -- glad that we know each other, even so."

Aceras

Orchids are beautiful, but in a complex, sometimes dangerous way.

  • Noeline: "The mystique feels like it's worn off... but she's still a fairly valuable companion."

Rose Hips

Rose hips, in compounding, are eclectic and prone to significant change based on what else is in the compound. Isn't that beautiful?

  • Corwynt: "His grooming is impeccable."
  • Neriah Parringer: "My! What an unusual young woman! ... though... quite the quick wit, all else said..."
  • Rosaline Calice: "I thought I'd had you figured out, but... that wasn't what I expected..."
  • Asteroid the Kid: "I have my concerns, but I'm grateful for the help."
  • Cyre H. Lorentz: "I have reservations."

Mandrake

Tremendously poisonous... but a little captivating just the same.

  • Riesenlied: "In the end... It's hard to trust her, but easy to believe in her, I suppose? I... mmm. It's difficult. But I believe she means well."
  • Ethius Hesiod: "Untrustworthy and bloody-minded. Would doom us all if allowed to operate unchecked. Keep your friends close..."

Wolfsbane

Death is certain. At best, a repellent.

  • The Black Ties: "... There are reasons a polite society must be an armed one."
  • The Metal Demons: "A black star in whose light nothing grows."

Discoveries

Ruins of Lahan

Lost Journal: Unfortunately, this part of the town has been stripped of anything that might be of value. There are broken and shattered Gears lying about, but there is nothing that suggests anything valuable at first glance. However, there is an unexpected surprise amidst the wreckage. The party turns up a locked, leather bound journal that appears to have a large number of annotations and ribbons threaded through the pages to mark locations. The lock itself is nothing special and is easily opened, but the journal itself appears to be in an old dialect and is partially encoded, and the notes don't make a lot of sense. A mysterious book indeed!

Intact Slave Generator: This is the jackpot for anyone who is looking for a major find among the ruins of Lahan. One of the Gears that was damaged in the battle still has its Slave Generator intact - and while the rest of the frame is utterly ruined, a working Gear class Slave Generator is an extremely valuable find. Sold on the black market it will raise a fair amount of Gella, enough to keep the party well supplied and able to live comfortably for several months. Just don't get caught by Aveh or Kislev when selling it.

Berry Cave

Fallen Drifter: A Drifter lay on the floor of the room. Luck has run out for this poor soul, and they have collapsed with a bloody wound torn into their back. However, the law of the wastelands states that where a Drifter falls, they leave their goods for the next. Their gunsmoke ARM, their stash of gella, and whatever else they might have carried with them.

Haunted Manor

Spare Uniforms: Following the defeat or retreat of the old man, the party rummages around the room and eventually comes across his closet. What would they find in there but a suspiciously correct number of spare military uniforms from an ancient era! Though the style might not be to your liking, they're worth a lot, and the tissue is fairly sturdy. They could be recycled into very high quality armor to wear under your clothes, if you're willing to ruin them.

Lolithia's Tomb

Plentiful Pottery: An exploration of this part of the inner Tomb reveals a large amount of old pottery and other cultural artifacts. Most are painted with abstract patterns, but a few show stylized scenes of large humanoids fighting against smaller, demonic looking creatures set before fields of fire, water, or mountains. As cultural artifacts of the ancient past, these will fetch a decent price with a collector, the Ethos, or the Adventurers' Guild.

Rujm el-Hiri

Weapons of the Lost: As you unseal the throne and descend past the open gateway, the overwhelmingly striking sight of a ruined city that's been lost to the ages catches your attention. A city of a civilisation lost long ago, consumed by hubris and inviting the frightening touch of the black butterfly... just what could have really happened here?

You find an armory with many ruined weapons -- crushed axes, splintered spears, and pierced chainmail are scattered over the counter. However, you discover several very curious weapons of a strange technological origin - enough to fetch a high price to curious ARMs meisters, or perhaps, your own...

Temple of Rejection

The Distortion: You come across one of the many security terminals lining this place, currently deactivated -- though likely not for long. Everything here seems self-automated to bamboozling degrees -- the data readouts and computer consoles are all beyond the ken of most people on Filgaia today, the language of this place ancient and strange, but it all seems to indicate that this temple is looking for someone specific -- as if -someone-, not just you, arrived here and triggered this place to activate its defensive measures as almost a frantic response to get rid of them. The only clue? A single warning on a stone plaque towards the back of the room, written in ancient language that nonetheless seems wholly legible to anyone, regardless of their native tongue:

If the rumors are true, THE LOLITHIA has remained on Filgaia. If learns of this facility, will undoubtedly shut it down. We have thus equipped the facility with an advanced security system. For the sake of our planet, we must protect it at all costs...
